The Virginia Cliffe Inn

We had the pleasure of staying at this B&B recently which is full of gracious southern hospitality & was a beautiful location for my niece's wedding held on the grounds at the gazebo as a wonderful outdoor venue. The care & attention to detail this family run establishment takes in making the guests feel at home is only exceeded by the full breakfast-all homemade by Miss Margaret & her staff-served to us the next morning before we had to leave. Our only regret was that we were unable to stay a few more nights.

Virginia Cliffe Inn was wonderful. Our daughter got married on the grounds. The venue was beautiful and expertly handled. We had all the comforts of home during our stay. I would recomend Virginia Cliffe Inn to everyone that wants a special place to stay.

This lovely B&B was an oasis of calm on our busy Virginia vacation. The inn is situated down a long driveway surrounded by trees, lawns, flowers, even a pod. The accommodations are lovingly maintained, with each room named after a family member. Breakfast each morning was delicious, topped off by enjoyable conversation with our delightful innkeeper.

We stayed four nights with Margaret at the Virginia Cliffe Inn and they were all great. Our room was spacious and comfortable with lovely old furnishings; breakfasts were delicious and it was really nice to be able to talk to other guests as well as Margaret, who breakfasted with us. We were doing our own tour of some of the Civil War Battlefields and gleaned a lot of information form the guests and from Margaret and her family. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return in the future.

My fiancee live in D.C. and needed to get out of the concrete jungle. We saw this inn on the website, and loved what we saw, when we arrived it was just as quaint and welcoming as the pictures showed. We were greeted by Mrs. Clifton the owner who was so welcoming. The whole house and bedrooms were everything we wanted for our quiet getaway. We went into historic Richmond for dinner and came back for a relaxing summer night. In the morning Mrs. Clifton prepared a wonderful breakfast for us and we sat and talked in the dining room that looks out to the beautiful backyard with a lake. Mrs. Clifton gave us a wonderful Richmond history lesson. It was just the place, comfort, and wonder hospitality we wanted and we will definitely be going back very soon.

We enjoyed very much interacting with owner and staff and guests, especially at breakfast very gentile. Good southern cooking we enjoyed nearby botanical gardens.

My wife and I needed a place to stay overnight after a holiday party as we live 50 miles from town. The Virginia Cliffe Inn was a most pleasant alternative to a motel. The grounds were beautiful, even in the snow, and the service was excellent. My favorite part, however, was the wonderful full breafast we enjoyed with the innkeeper, Mrs. Clifton. We shall return!

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful B&B. The house was beautiful as well as the grounds. Mrs. Margret was such a lovely lady and we felt like we were staying with family. Truly a great place to stay & the food was great!

First time we stayed at a place like this. The room was very nice and bed was very comfortable. I would visit again.

We have been to this B&B four times, before this one night stay. The appearance and quality of this B&B is excellent. The breakfast is good country home cooking and plentiful. The price is also very reasonable and affordable. I highly recommend the Virginia Cliffe Inn. Pennsylvania.

The only thing better than the (amazing) food is the company, with the owner's rich knowledge of the Richmond area. Will definitely be staying there the next time we're in Richmond - we just hope the beds are a bit softer. :)

The Virginia Cliffe Inn is beautiful, both the home and grounds, and they are well maintained. The owner and staff are masters of true southern hospitality. There was an abundance of food & snacks. The rooms were well supplied & replenished with towels & toiletries. Most of all, the staff went well out of their way to help us with some special needs. We loved our stay at the Inn!

The Inn provides spacious well-appointed attractive rooms and notable hospitality. We would happily return.

We stayed in the Virginia Cliffe Inn while on a weekend trip to Richmond and really enjoyed it. The rooms are wonderfully decorated and feel like you've gone back in time. Yet because the home is relatively new (built actually in the 1970s), it has all modern amenities and private bathrooms. The gardens and grounds are perfectly kept and have plenty of space to just sit outside and enjoy. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The first day we were there, Mrs. Clifton served croissant french toast with strawberries, eggs, bacon, ham, biscuits, fruit, and date bread. The second day she served waffles with a delicious blueberry sauce, eggs, bacon, sausage and fruit. The only thing you should be aware of before going is that the Inn does host weddings throughout the year, including receptions. If you're going to be around on a weekend, be prepared for a wedding with possibly many people. It didn't affect us because we are young, but the reception on the weekend we were there did go until about 10pm and could be heard in the house. They do clear out people after that, but you should be aware you may not get the grounds all to yourself during your stay. Overall, we had a fantastic time and really enjoyed our stay. We'd definitely consider staying there again if we need a place to stay in Richmond again.

VA Cliff is well beyond the norm for B&B's! The hospitality, staff, breakfasts that were outstanding and helpfulness to find good restaurants and sights to see were all excellent. This inn is highly recommended!

Breakfast was excellent! Owners/hostess were very pleasant. Distant train horns could be bothersome though.

We had a marvelous weekend here...the gardens are beautiful -- our room overlooked them and they were perfect for the wedding that happened there on Saturday. The room was furnished in a lovely old-fashioned style, and yet we still had wireless internet and a TV to watch the political debate. The breakfasts were the best I've ever had at a B&B. They put to shame the ones we had in Napa Valley a few months ago. At the Virginia Cliffe Inn the food is plentiful and delicious! Lots of fruit, interesting main courses (croissant French Toast, Eggs Benedict) and the usual bacon and sausage and coffee and juice, etc. Only down side was the toilet ran occasionally -- my husband almost ran down to Home Depot to buy a new flapper! Margaret, the Inn Keeper, said the plumber had tried to fix it and couldn't --- I think she needs a new plumber! But that certainly didn't hamper our visit...I'd recommend it highly. We stayed here for Parents Weekend at our son's college and hope we can also stay there for graduation next May!

It was very charming and the food was great! A bed and breakfast- more like heaven and breakfast!! Outstanding service. Very friendly community!
