We travel a couple of times a year to see family in Virginia Beach. We come from Philly so its quite a drive. When possible, we stop at Beechwood Manor either on the drive down or back. It is quiet and relaxing. Its definitely in wine country as there's a small vineyard just down the road. The room is always impeccable and the food is delicious. Donna always seems to be coming up with something new and interesting for meals. They now have a few chickens so the eggs are definitely "fresh". We're not much into battlefields but there's plenty around and other historical sites. Mostly we stay to cut our trip on I-95 in half and just relax....and boy can you do it here. I recommend Beechwood to many of my friends and colleagues, particularly to those who are "in" to battlefields because the location is great for that sort of thing.

We were looking for a B&B near Fredericksburg for a weekend birthday getaway. All the reviews of Beechwood Manor were excellent, and we decided to give it a try. We've never stayed in a B&B before, so this was new for us. We'll definitely be recommending Beechwood Manor to others. The breakfasts were fantastic. The room was a delight. I've seldom slept so well; the bed was that comfortable. There were so many little touches, like cookies and chocolate in the evening, muffins in the morning and lemon-mint water for a quick drink in the night. Donna made us feel so welcome. It was a bit out of the way, but for us that was a positive. It was nice to get away from civilization for a superb weekend. Thanks Donna!

I stayed at Beechwood Manor on 30th & 31st July 2010. It is a beautiful home and property located in a quiet rural area very close to Fredericksburg. The room was very well appointed and immaculate. Donna was a gracious and accommodating hostess. I have stayed at many 5-star hotels and resorts around the world and her breakfast was as good as the very best. She obviously loves cooking and she was even kind enough to share her delicious egg souffle recipe with me. I have absolutely no hesitation in giving Beechwood Manor top marks. You will definitely not be disappointed.

Date of stay: 15-16 May 2010: Beechwood Manor shot to the top of my B&B list because it was off the beaten path. My husband, grown children and I traveled to Fredericksburg so I could run the Marine Corps Historic Half Marathon. I needed a good nights sleep and that's not usually possible in a hotel. We initially passed the B&B and had to go down the road a bit to turn around. Once we got back to the location we pulled into an ample parking area and were greeted immediately by an energetic Donna Carlton. One of the first things I noticed was the beautiful landscaping. The yard was immaculate and I was hoping the inside would be like the pictures I viewed online. When we entered the foyer, it was spacious and inviting. I could tell a lot of care was taken to place information relevant to the area at our fingertips. Donna showed us upstairs to the Belmont suite. I expected the rooms to be clean and tidy but they were exceptionally clean. Loved the fresh cookies! I walked into the bathroom and found myself looking for a flaw. I didn't find any. I was very happy with my overall experience. Since I was running the half marathon, I did not have breakfast the following morning, but Donna made sure I had bananas and offered several other items to which I had to decline. Cliff Carlton was very patient with our barrage of questions about the property and surroundings. I woke up after a very restful/quiet nights sleep. When I opened the front door I heard the birds chirping and it was just starting to rain a little. I went for a run up and down the hill to loosen up and went back inside. Overall this was a great experience. I titled this review "Best of the Best" because I've been to B&B's in other countries as well as here in the US and this one will be at the top of my list. I will recommend Beechwood Manor to my friends and family, and I will be back if in the area.

The only problem we had was that her breakfasts were so terrific (I'd say better than what you could order at most fine restaurants...forget IHOP), and so big, that we couldn't finish them. The room was immaculate, clean, supremely comfortable, and extremely quiet. She set out coffee & muffins in the morning, and tea & cookies in the evening. We had the living room & fireplace to lounge around in, and Donna, the owner, went so far as to personally pick up a bouquet of roses I had ordered for my wife's anniversary as the flower shop wasn't delivering at that hour. And the price is extremely reasonable. It's 15 minutes from downtown Fredericksburg. You will not be disappointed in Beechwood Manor
