The Oaks Victorian Inn

  • Inn Details

Welcome to our Four Diamond award-winning historic Inn located in the historic town of Christiansburg, VA, just two miles off I-81, six miles from Virginia Tech and Radford University. The Oaks Victorian Inn is the only Select Registry Bed & Breakfast in the Mid-Atlantic region to receive the prestigious Four Diamond Award for 17 consecutive years. Our Queen Anne Victorian sits atop the town's highest hill. Near Roanoke, both are nestled in the beautiful mountain highlands of southwest Virginia. Warm hospitality, comfortable, relaxed elegance and memorable breakfasts are the hallmark of The Oaks. Opened as an inn in 1989, listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1994, the wrap-around porch, perennial garden, complete with gazebo, fish pond and fountain offers an endless fascination to guests from around the world. Beautiful landscaping provides an ever-changing backdrop for the five historic oak trees, one of which is believed to be one of the largest white oak trees in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Guests will find every amenity- soft, luxurious linens, down comforters, fireplaces, claw-foot tubs, Jacuzzis, an interesting library, cable TV, DVD/CD, private telephones, high speed Internet access and complimentary stocked refrigerators. The Oaks Bed & Breakfast was voted a Platinum Award as Best Bed & Breakfast by the readers of Blue Ridge Country magazine.

We were greeted by Bernie and Linda and quickly realized their love for their home and guests. They are an amazing couple, who graciously opened their home to us. The Oaks is a wonderful and comfortable home. Linda prepared an outstanding breakfast, which is only surpassed by her and Bernie's company! We can not wait to return and stay longer!

We booked on the fly while driving on I-81 North in VA and received excellent and friendly response on the phone. The house turned out to be totally charming with Linda and Bernie Wutsburger attentive and friendly hosts. The house and rooms were impeccably clean and charming. The sleep quality of the bed (and the surrounding silence) was outstanding. We fully recommend this B&B. An outstanding value for money.

We were looking for a place close by in which to celebrate our 46th anniversary. After choosing the location, we found The Oaks Victorian Inn on the web. The room we wanted was the room that was available. Bernie, the innkeeper, suggested a spot for our special dinner and made the reservations. Our room, the Major Pierce, was the best we have ever had at a B & B. It was spacious, well decorated, and uncluttered. The bathroom was actually two rooms. One had a tub while the other had a shower. Both had lavatories and commodes. Everything in the room was perfect including the materials necessary to plan a trip and the roses and champagne I had ordered. The first afternoon we sat on the porch with other guests as well as Linda and Bernie. It was a delightful discussion Bernie and Linda have the remarkable knack for making their home be your home and they are part of your family. Breakfast was very interesting and tasty. Bernie was there to serve us and make sure everyone was involved. After serving the final course, Linda came out from the kitchen and talked to everyone. We all sat at our table for a long time after we had finished eating to talk and share. The second day and night was just as good as the first. While there were different guests, Bernie and Linda established the family0like atmosphere again. After breakfast our second day, we left and we were genuinely sad to leave our new friends. We've stayed in many B & B's including quite a few listed with Select Registry and Relais & Chateaux. Of course, all have their good features. The Oaks Victorian Inn is the most outstanding B & B of all of these. It is a great physical property with a beautiful building, rooms, and lawn. The breakfast and always-available cookies were outstanding. Bernie and Linda are completely natural hosts who foster a family like atmosphere. We had a great anniversary celebration. Don Francisco
