The Baywood Bed and Breakfast

When searching for a place to stay to get away for our tenth anniversary, we happened upon the Baywood B & B. After our longer than expected drive from Ohio, we finally arrived at our destination. We pulled into the wooded drive which winds maybe 75 yards or so and is nicely lit. After parking our vehicle and getting out to take a much needed stretch, we were greeted by the smell of roses and by Mike, the owner/host, who happened to be outside at the time. After a friendly greeting and brief overview of the Baywood, he offered to help us take our luggage to our room, which we accepted. The home is beautiful, well taken care of, and has a breathtaking setting. Our room was clean, comfortable, and the perfect size. We had an ocean view room which has full length windows lining the wall facing the bay. This is completed by a glass door that can be opened to the adjacent balcony. The room is complete with a walk-in closet. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean and more than adequate. The owners were very nice and accommodating. There are no televisions in the rooms which was actually pretty nice, and WiFi is provided but the signal is not very strong. The backyard is roomy and beautiful thanks to the backdrop of the bay. The beach is easily accessible simply by crossing the yard and going down some wood steps. The beach is not only beautiful, but also secluded. Most of the time we had it all to ourselves, and that's in early June. I don't know what some of the other reviewers didn't like, but the breakfasts were hearty (we were plenty full each day), good, and tasty. Mike seemed to take great pride in his "Baywood muffins", and rightfully so. The value of this place is amazing. Why would anyone stay at a cramped hotel/inn when they could stay here for the same or better price? Part of me hates to give the Baywood such a good review and praise as we'd love to keep it from being too in demand. But it's a rave review that's well deserved.

Wonderful view, great location, friendly host/hostess, Was there as a stop off between Raleigh and Washington DC and am so glad I did. Only disappointment was we didn't have the wonderful muffins for breakfast mentioned in the other reviews

Was there for a couple of days during the memorial day w/e. Wanted to relax and stay away from the commercial beach-front VA beach areas. Was my first time in the area and I am happy to have chosen Baywood B&B for my stay. Nice location, nice owners/staff, and a positive overall experience. Walk down the stairs from their backyard and you are at the bay! Nice park near-by and lots of small nature trails. Make sure you enjoy the beautiful sun-set from the balcony or from the backyard. The Baywood Bed and Breakfast was a wonderful retreat for my husband and I as we celebrated his birthday. The service, care, and kindness of Mike was outstanding and for the price paid was truly valuable. I will be recommending this B&B to others to enjoy.

We arrived just a little earlier than scheduled check in time and they were more than accomodating. The location is very private,quiet,and has amazing views. Breakfast was delicious and very plentiful, the porch is relaxing to hang out on while you sip coffee or champagne,and the entire property is inviting. No TVs in the bedrooms but in this location you dont notice it. Highly recommend for anyone

One night of relaxation to break up a 750 mile trip.

I just loved this place. It wasn't very expensive but had a wonderful view, rooms, service, food and also a wonderful beach private beach to walk on. I love this place and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a private getaway!

My wife and I just returned from a wonderful weekend at The Baywood. The location is perfect and the beach is wonderfully secluded. We barely saw anyone who wasn't also a guest at The Baywood. The breakfast, including the much talked about muffins, was great. The beds were comfortable. The views were spectacular, especially at sunset. Wonderful owners who love their home and love sharing it with guests. Cape Charles is a short drive away and the owners are happy to make suggestions. We look forward to returning.

Lovely spot on the Bay with a beach and the Bayside rooms have a great view. Looking forward to going back there soon.

The view from the Baywood Bed and Breakfast was perfect. We could look out the window from our room and had a perfect view of the water. A nice place to just relax.

Rooms exceeded what most bed and breakfast's have to offer. Clean, spacious and comfortable. Rooms with deck provide a beautiful water front view.

The website does not do this little gem justice. Not only is this my first B&B experience, but the first time ive truly been impressed enough to write a review. Our late arrival was handled with ease, coffee was waiting...mike and Sharon went well over any expecations. Sharon checked on different restaurants (Provided contact for reservations). Mike gave a history lesson and great conversation Yudi cooked amazing breakfast each am. Views are breathtaking! This will be a yearly destination!!

The house is beautifully situated on the Chesapeake Bay. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with large bathtubs and nice views. The owner was friendly and stayed out of they way for the most part. Breakfast was fine but nothing special, just eggs, bacon, and a store-bought muffin. Nonetheless, for the price we were quite satisfied.

The views/sunset were so beautiful! My husband and I were very satisfied with this place. We highly recommend this to anyone who's looking for a relaxing getaway. Their breakfast muffins were so delicious too! They do keep cats in their house, so if you are allergic just come prepared. They don't bother the guests at all. I

The house was amazing and so were the owners Mike and Sharon. They were very helpful in providing us all the details about what we could do and where we could go to in Cape Charles. The house itself was wry beautiful and contemporary. Beach is right on the backyard. Very private. I wish it was less breezy and more sunny during the weekend we were there so we could have enjoyed the place and beach better. But we will be definitely going back in summer.

The main draw here is the view of the Chesapeake Bay at sunset. Our room was large with a private bath and oversize tub which I enjoyed. Terrycloth robes were available and 3 dispensers in the shower which held shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion. The owner recommended a nice restaurant in town for dinner about 10 minutes away. Breakfast was scrambled eggs, sausage patties, and a large fresh-baked muffin. I would recommend this B&B. The only drawback is that the rooms don't have their own TVs. There is a large screen TV above a fireplace downstairs with very comfotable couches. If you want to get away from it all, it is a very quiet, serene setting about 50 yards from the bay.

Great room, fantastic overlook onto bay and sunsets. Perfect location. Easy access to Cape Charles (at least in Jan). Tub did not fill with hot water in evening. Morning show was just warm.

We had a great stay at the Baywood. The house is right on the water and because of the state park next door had a deserted private beach. The room was great, very modern, and the bed was comfortable. We would love to stay there again, especially in the summer when we could spend a lot of time down on the beach.

This was our first experience at a bed and breakfast and we were pleasantly surprised. We got there just in time to see the sunset and walk along the sand before it got too dark. Being from Hawaii, I have seen my fair share of sunsets and this one was breath taking. We had a wonderful time meeting such great people (owners and other guests). Breakfast was also good. We enjoyed our stay at the baywood bed and breakast. This was our first experience at a bed and breakfast. The home owners were very warm and pleasant. The breakfast was presented beautifully and very tasty. We enjoyed a 2 night stay in the light house room. The view was beautiful and our neighbors were a delight. My boyfriend and i plan to return in the near future. Next time we will be sure to bring our laptops and dvds for there is no televisions in the bedrooms. That was the only thing that caught us by suprise upon our arrival. Still none the less it was a wonderful and beautiful experience.

The house has an amazing view and the bedrooms that face the water are large and have big bathrooms with both a large tub and shower. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. You essentially have your own private strip of beach on the Chesepeake! You are ~15 minutes away from Cape Charles with some very good restaraunts. You can easily get to bike paths and do kiaking if you want. It was a great time.

My wife and I spent just one night with Mike and Sharon, and felt like we had known them for years. They were most accommodating, recommending restaurants for dinner and making us feel right at home. Breakfast was wonderful (juice, eggs, sausage, fruit bowl, and muffins you would die for). Wonderful view of the bay from their spacious backyard. Kiptopeke State Park and Eastern Shore NWR are extremely close by. When we decide to stay in this area again, we'll certainly stay here and hopefully for more than just one night next time.

We have stayed at the Baywood several times. The room and bathroom are outstanding, clean, and very spacious. We love the private beach and the ability to take long walks on the beach or just sit on the beach and watch the waves and the sunsets. The owners of the Baywood are wonderful and very accommodating. The breakfast is delicious and more food than you could ever want. If you are looking for a quiet and private setting to get away from it all with the one you love, then the Baywood is for you.

Arrived in the evening just in time to watch the long sun set, first from the private beach, then from the beautiful yard, then from my porch and finally from within my room. A morning run on the beach before breakfast took me to the edge of Kiptopeke Park which I explored further after breakfast on my bike, taking the bike path just across the road from Baywood B&B. The following day, I met a kayaking guide from SE Expeditions at one of SE's "outposts" which was a 2 minute drive south of the B&B, for a memorable trip paddling through marshes to nearby islands. The Eastern Shore Wildlife Refuge is right there, too, providing further opportunity to explore. What a wonderful base Baywood B&B provided for my 3 day respite!

Very satisfied. Mike was a great host and the home and view were wonderful. The dining-out places were somewhat limited but, nevertheless good. Overall, I would highly recommend the Baywood.

The rooms facing the water are large and each one has a walk-in closet. The bathrooms are very roomy and have both a "garden tub" AND a separate shower. Everything was very clean! Even the outdoor patio furniture was amazingly clean. The view from the patio is spectacular! It is so peaceful and quiet. It is as if you have the entire beach to yourself. What a relaxing getaway!

Great location! Enjoyed walking on the beach and watching the sunsets from our balcony. Would definitely recommend this place to friends and would stay there again the next time we are in the area.

Located directly on the Chesapeake Bay with spacious guest rooms and gracious hosts, you can't go wrong at the Baywood B&B. Located one mile from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, this is a superior place to stay while visiting the Eastern Shore. Highly recommend it!

We had a great time at The Batywood B&B and would highly reccommend this as a peaceful getaway for a long weekend or stop on the way to another destination. The rooms were really clean and loved our view of the bay! The breakfast each morning was amazing and fresh. Coffee was served upstairs as early as 6:30am! Overall a great place and would't think twice about staying here again. The only thing my BF didnt love was the lack of TV in the room -- I see his point but also feel that a non - tv space creates that real 'feel' you should be seeking by staying at a B&B. Just awesome.. From the VERY clean and updated rooms, to the hot tub, amazing view and REALLY relaxing porch looking out onto the bay, this was the perfect B&B get away.

We so enjoyed this tranquill, peaceful setting we made another reservation before we left. The sunsets are outstanding , the hosts friendly but not intrusive,and the amenities are top notch.Most enjoyable trip.

Mike was a great host and it was a joy to sit with him at breakfast and share conversation and stories. We met couples from Britain, France, and Germany while there. The grounds were neat and well kept. The house and rooms were emaculate! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was very peaceful and calm. This is the most stress free environment. Great stay and are already planning our return trip.

We enjoyed our stay. We went at a time when there were not many people around, even in town. There were other people staying at The Baywood, but we rarely saw them. This was very okay with us. The food was great and the fruit dishes were cute. If we do something down that way again, we would go back.

We were delighted with the house and grounds, and the view of the Bay from the large balcony off our room (Cape Charles Room) was the icing on the cake. We had thought the house was in town and, as we're walkers, we'd planned to walk to dinner, shopping, etc. As it turns out, this house is some 9 miles south of Cape Charles, so there's no walking anywhere but to the private beach. However, the Baywood turned out to be a great get-away and we wouldn't have traded it for an in-town location; it's private, peaceful, the service is friendly and efficient and the view just cannot be beat.

Outstanding value. Gorgeous views of the sunset. Like so many others, we wished we had stayed longer. Mike and Sharon are great hosts. We will be back!!

Sharon and Mike have a superior B and B in their natural ocean/shore setting,their gorgeous home and rooms and the beautiful grounds. Their 3 big cats are fantastic hosts too. We recently spent two summer days at The Baywood. It was not too far from home (just across the bridge) but we felt transported to another world. The room was comfortable, the hosts were friendly, the breakfasts were delicious, and the bay view was spectacular. We enjoyed the peaceful moments by the beach. The room was better than on the picture and the place is magical.

We tried to stay here a year ago but a certain hurricane messed that up! Our family stayed in a bay view and woods view room. Both were great and very fresh. Everyone was friendly and left you be. It was a short but perfect stay. We had brought a picnic dinner with us and set up Tiki torches on the beach. The next morning we had a wonderful breakfast prepared by the staff and kayaked up the coast for the rest of our day. All the cats we're very friendly as well. Recommend...yes!

Stayed unfortunately for just one night. I wish we had the time to stay another. We will be back! Beautiful sunset over the bay, great breakfast and a good rate!

The Baywood has an amazing location. The view from The Lighthouse Room is amazing and relaxing. Our stay was peaceful and fun. Hope to get away there again soon.

My husband and I decided to stay at a bed & breakfast for the first time and we really enjoyed our stay at The Baywood Bed & Breakfast! The place is absolutely beautiful and the owners are very nice and make you feel welcome in their home! We hope to have a chance to come back again some day! We would definitely recommend this place!

You never really know what you are going to get when staying at a bed and breakfast. I have had some good and some not so good experiences in the past so I really didn't know what I was getting into when I reserved a room for my boyfriend and I at The Baywood but this B&B far exceeded any expectations I had. The house is beautiful, very clean and comfortable. The view from the backyard is absolutely amazing! We were a little sad to have to leave and come back home, the whole experience at The Baywood was excellent and we plan to go back as soon as we can!

We stopped here on our trip from Philadelphia area to New Bern NC. What a charming place to stay! The view is spectacular and the sunset was everything I had hoped to see. Our only regret is that we had to cancel our return stay due to a family emergency. We would definitely recommend the Baywood and look forward to staying here again sometime in the future. - Marilyn M.

The Baywood was AMAZING! The pictures do not do it justice. The sunsets really do look like the pictures, the rooms are more spacious than the pictures might lead you to believe, the grounds are very nice and very nicely kept, and everything is so convenient. Then there is the even better parts- Mike and Sharon the owners and Yuda the chef and helper. They all make every day even better than it would have been but not in the least bit intrusive. If you are looking for a very unique area for a getaway or just passing near on your way somewhere else this is a place you will be absolutely delighted you decided to stay :)

What a wonderful treat after a long day of travel. This was our first stay at a bed & breakfast and it won't be our last. The Baywood, overlooking the bay with it's beautiful sunsets is lovely. Our room was clean & spacious, the bed quite comfortable, the room nicely decorated. The breakfast Mike made for us was delicious. Mike and Sharon are friendly & accommodating. It takes special people to be able to share their home with others---Mike and Sharon are special. Our stay, as short as it was, was very nice with a "homey" feeling. Seeing deer was a special treat--The Baywood has both wildlife and sunsets, lovely comfortable rooms, good food, and Mike and Sharon. The perfect place to stay for a night, week, or longer. We stopped here for one night on our way home from a 4th of July trip. We were able to get right into our room and down to the bayside beach within minutes of arriving, just in time for the great sunset and scenery. We came back to meet the owners who were very friendly and accommodating. When we asked for dinner recommendations, they knew where to go in detail. The food was tremendous at Kelly's Gingernut Pub in Cape Charles (about 8 miles away, recommend the burger). Otherwise, everything was smooth as silk. I only gave dining 4 stars because I didn't particularly like the egg casserole for breakfast (but I don't like egg casserole to begin with, so in retrospect I probably should have just said something and they probably would have accommodated, oh well). All in all, when I'm down that way again, I will certainly book at least 1 night here. Great job!

It was great to stay at The Baywood and would definitely stay there again.

My husband and I stayed here for a night, and we LOVED it. We only wished we could have stayed the other 2 nights as well, but could not becuase it was booked. The B&B is BEAUTIFUL, very...very clean and decorated beautifully. We stayed in the Lighthouse Room, it is soooooooo nice and relaxing. Mike and Sharon were very nice and we loved talking to them. We also met their daughter (Rachel) and grandaughter (Layla), who were both so sweet. We can't wait to book another vacation, and we'll book it in advance so we WILL be able to book more than one night. Thank you for a relaxing time, we really love your B&B and have already told our friends and co-workers about you. And I HAVE TO make a comment about, what I felt was the best part of the trip, meeting Luigi, Oscar and Bangers...the Kitties. The owner greeted us at the door and carried our bags upstairs. I was pleasantly surprised how beautiful, clean and fresh it was. Plus, we had a wonderful view of the bay with a huge balcony. My wife and I were looking to extend our Chincoteague/Eastern Shore vacation by one day, and we happened across The Baywood during our online search. We chose it because it was near the northern end of the Cheasapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel (bay frontage), it was in our price range, and it included wireless internet access. We would have been happy with an acceptable night's stopover on our trip homeward, but we got MUCH more. One of the innkeepers' sons (Josh?) welcomed us and made us feel right at home. The rooms were beautiful, as were the views of the Chesapeake Bay. Everything was very comfortable and clean throughout. We would recommend the bay view rooms (we stayed in the Lighthouse room); as the name would imply, these have balconies that look out directly over the Chesapeake Bay. There is also a nice sitting/viewing area at the edge of the back yard, and a set of stairs down to a wonderful private beach, perfect for exploring or cooling off with a swim in the bay. Mike and Sharon were very friendly and interesting, without being obtrusive. It turned out we had a few interests in common with Mike, and we spent awhile chatting with him in the yard. The day we were there, breakfast included a few hot items, along with muffins, fresh fruit, and coffee. If anything, it was larger than generally prefer for breakfast, but no complaints there! All in all, we liked this B&B so much that we hope to return sometime when we can spend more than just one day exploring Cape Charles and the surrounding area.

Mike and Sharon are incredibly welcoming and provide an excellent breakfast. We stayed in the Lighthouse Room which was exquisite and great value for money. IMHO the best place to stay on the Eastern Shore.

This B & B is located in a secluded spot, where a restful atmosphere, comfortable rooms, and a gorgeous view of the bay and a secluded beach exist. The breakfast was plentiful and delishous. We'll be back!

We were very impressed with all aspects of the Baywood Bed & Breakfast. The facility was very picturesque, the room was very clean & comfortable. The beakfasts were excellent, my wife & I raved about the muffins. The veiw from the porch was spectacular, we watched the sun go down each night. The beach just a few steps down was deserted, the sand was great.

If we had had the time, we'd have stayed longer! Excellent location, friendly greeting, and perfectly maintained.

Baywood BB was perfect!The owners were extremely accommodating to my special dietary needs and very friendly! Our room opened up to a beautiful view of the Ocean. Technically it is a bay but you would never know as you can not see any land from the shore. We were surprised to find upon arrival there is also a hot tub. Fyi: Do bring bug spray though as the Mosquitos are vicious at night! There is a screened in porch with wicker chairs, rocking chairs lining the back porch facing the bay, there is an outdoor table where you can eat, and wooden chairs closer to the water along with a hammock. What more could you ask for? They even have chairs and an umbrella you can take to walk down and sit on their own private beach. I have never found so many large sea shells in my life! Quaint, quiet, and georgeous place. We will be back!!!!

I took my boyfriend for a romantic beach getaway. We had a private balcony with a view of the bay, and a private beach to enjoy alone. The room was fantastic, so much space, the bed was comfortable. I will come again, I cannot recommend this place enough! We also enjoyed the large tub for 2 in the bathroom.

What a wonderful B & B! We arrived late at night, the host was kind enough to greet us and show us around. The room was large, clean and comfortable. In fact, it was the largest B & B bedroom that I have every stayed in. My husband and I were able to sit and read with plenty of room to be comforable. The bathroom had a jacuzzi tub!! One had the run of the downstairs, including the kitchen which was stocked with drinks. The crowning glory was upon waking in the morning, I looked out the row of windows to see that we were on the Chesapeake Bay--what a beautiful sight!!! If it had not been raining the night before, it would have been delightful to sit on the deck with my coffee and look at the Bay. The bed was a double and I am used to a king, but it was extemely comforable. Breakfast was delicious and one could sit on the screened-in porch, drinking your coffee until breakfast was ready, freshly cooked. I cannot wait to visit the B & B again. Jean

This was a great experience. I especially enjoyed meeting a young German couple and a Canadian couple at the breakfast table. Very nice and friendly owner. Beautiful view of Chesapeake Bay. Some good fishing as well. Dined at Kelly's in Cape Charles. Good fresh clams and oysters. Hope to go back.

This was our first experience with a bed and breakfast and it far exceeded our expectations. In the future we will be looking for these type of accommodations versus the typical hotel/motel stays. It was a Christmas gift from, our children and upon returning I suggested that this would be a great on-going gift for us. Thanks.

Really enjoyed my stay at the Baywood. Had the Bayview room on 2nd view and was able to take in a spectacular sunset just as the rainy had stopped. Owners were personable and super friendly. Felt like I was staying with relatives. I would highly recommend to anyone.

One of the best bed & breakfast experiences you will ever have!

The Baywood is a very nice B&B with an amazing view of the Chesapeake Bay. It's a perfect place to get away and very convenient to the Hampton Roads area. The innkeepers were so friendly and accomodating! They allowed us to check in early in spite of a late checkout from the previous guests and our room was ready an hour prior to the early arrival time! We stayed in the Lighthouse room and it was very clean, had a nice sitting area, a large (also very clean) attached bathroom, and a breathtaking wall of floor to ceiling windows (sunny in the morning) with a door out onto our own private deck overlooking the bay. The sheets on the bed were amazingly soft! Breakfast was great and the "Baywood Muffins" are so good. There are pets on the premises, which go in and out of the house, but are never allowed in the guest rooms. Downtown Cape Charles and most shopping/restaurants are a 10-20 minute drive away. If you're looking for a weekend away from the hustle and bustle to relax and enjoy the beauty of the Bay this is a great place to stay!

Just a mile from the visitor center is this outstanding B &B located on the beautiful Chesapeake. Be sure to reserve one of the rooms with a deck. Watch the birds, sunset and crab fisherman on the bay.The owners are very friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. Cape Charles is close by for dinner (go to Kelly's Pub).

This was our second year at The Baywood B&B and we will be coming back every year. Mike, Sharon & staff make you feel right at home. We rented the entire house for our 10th Anniversary celebration with friends and it was one of the most relaxing weekends any of us has had in a long while! Breakfast is amazing and fresh. Mike's Baywood Muffins are a must try! If you are looking for a relaxing beach get away without all the hustle and bustle of beach city life this is the place!

If you are looking for a little solitude away from the rat-race, this is a nice place. Relax on big upstairs balcony or sit in a chair overlooking Chesapeake Bayor even better take a casual stroll along its shore. Restaurant a little far for my liking but otherwise everything was A O K.

We had not stayed at a B&B but one other time about sixteen years ago so we didnot know what to expect. Let me tell you it was a wonderful expericnce and this home was beautiful and they treated us like royality. I would highly recommend this place and hope to get a chance to go back again.

Stayed for one night in Feb. with my girlfriend and it was beautiful. Plan on returning in the summer.

My husband and I truly enjoyed our time at the Baywood Bed and Breakfast and exploring quaint Cape Charles. The view of the Chesapeake Bay from the B&B was spectacular. It was such a treat to walk the beach accessible directly in front of the B&B and walk and walk with noone in sight! Mike and Sharon were the perfect hosts.

For our 21st wedding anniversary I surprised my husband with a getaway trip from Michigan and it was perfect!! We had never been to a bed and breakfast vacation before as we had always gone to all inclusive resorts. All I can say is I now what we have been missing. The view and sunsets at The Baywood left me speachless. The breakfast was delicious. More food than I normally eat and absolutely wonderful especially the "baywood muffins." It was breathtaking to be eating breakfast and look out into the bay to see dolphins frollicking in the water. We were made to feel like we were at home. Mike, Sharon, and their family were great!! I hope that we are able to return soon and look forward to doing even more sightseeing and beach walking next time!!! Maybe even some kyacking!!!!

My husband and I went to Baywood to celebrate his 60th birthday. Wish he was born at a warmer time of year but we were still able to enjoy the beautiful sunsets from our room and got a walk on the beach before we left. The inn keepers were great hosts and we enjoyed chatting with them and their family. Very clean and comfortable atmosphere.

Reserved Lighthouse Room Very enjoyable and comfortable. A bathroom shower upgrade is in order. Although it is functional, Takes a long time for water to become warm enough. Additionally shower head is not flexible so hard to direct spray to all locations on your body. Wall paper above shower in need of repair. Food was excellent. Coffee was delicious. If you want a good supper - we recommend the Aqua Restaurant in Cape Charles. Love the peacefulness and solitude offered at this BnB.

Wonderful bed and breakfast! The family is very welcoming and had great suggestions and advice for the local area. Our room was large, very clean and had a great view of the water. The location is very peaceful and the private beach was a bonus! LW-Pennsylvania

I was just over whelmed by the friendliness and home style atmosphere. the inn keeprs are very down to earth and left no stone unturned to make sure the stay was very pleasant and rememberable. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone who wants to expirence life at its very best. Again I just cannot say enough about the hospitality we recieved.

The house, the location, and the hosts were all exemplary. We arrived right at sunset and caught a breathtaking view over their private beach. The location is perfect because, as the name implies, the house is surrounded by scenery of both the woods and the bay. The house was very clean, cozy, and relaxing - my partner and I woke up saying the bed provided the best sleep we've ever had! The hosts were so gracious: they suggested phenomenal places for dinner and drinks, patiently waited two hours past breakfast time to serve our sleepyheaded selves, and put up with my clumsy self spilling red wine all over the carpet. The view was extraordinary, the stay relaxing, the breakfast scrumptious, and the hosts hospitable - all in all, I can't wait to go back!

This impeccably maintained bed and breakfast has a spectacular view of the Chesapeake Bay, and offers ready access to miles of beaches along the Chesapeake. We had never visited the Cape Charles area and our experience at Baywood B and B has convinced us that we should return again soon!

This was our first time staying at a B&B and it was thoroughly enjoyable. Our room, which was spacious and comfortable, had a separate deck with a beautiful view of the Bay. Our hosts were gracious & friendly. We wished we were able to stay more than one night.

We greatly enjoyed our long weekend at the Baywood B&B. Our room was comfortable, the location of the B&B beautifully situated on the Bay and very convenient for exploring the area, and Mike and Sharon were very welcoming and offered a wealth of information about the local area. Superb in all respects. Owner even provided a tour of New Ravenna Mosaics, where he works, in Exmore. This was a real treat. It was a step beyond hospitable. Baywood on the Bay is an excellent place to stay. The room was spacious and very comfortable. I had the room on the woods side but there are rooms with a Bay view and with an individual deck. The location was on a bluff above the Bay with a flight of stairs leading to the beach. The breakfasts each morning were generous and well prepared. The hosts were quite congenial. I will definitely plan to return again.

Mike gave us a warm and friendly welcome and told us to make our selves at home, which we felt very comfortable doing. The views of the bay are spectacular, especially from the balcony of our room. Breakfast was outstanding, the home made muffins were huge and delicious. We would definitely return.

The two rooms which face the Chesapeake Bay are spacious and have a fantastic view. We enjoyed walking on the beach, which was deserted in October. We tried to walk at the NWR on the ocean side, but the bugs ate us up. The Bay side is definitely more liveable!

Loved the private beach access and also the bike trail that runs to the nature preserve.

Our stay was fantastic. Our only regret was that we didn't book 2 nights. We would have loved to had time to explore the beach.

My wife and I spent our third wedding anniversary here and we were immediately taken aback by the almost anal retentive cleanliness of the place. It was incredible. We complimented the owner, Mike, and he said his goal is "Disney perfect," which I thought was funny because that's where my wife and I went on our honeymoon. Mike is so easy to talk to and loves to chat (especially about the civil war) and readily reccomends some great eateries in town. On that note I have to hand it to him: I got very sick the second night there from some fish I ate and Mike was very understanding, and went above and beyond the call of duty to take care of me. The views here are OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! We spent the evening of our anniversary on the water watching the sunset and it was unbelievable...and romantic. the breakfast food is what you would expect: casseroles, sausage, fruit...but the presentation is wonderful, nautical, and quaint. A lovely place.

Mike and Sharon are delightful Innkeepers - the B&B is beautiful - and the setting is perfect! Had we known, we surely would have extended our stay...... and walked that lovely beach. We have to rate the breakfast as 'one of the best' we've ever had at a B&B.

Locatlon, location, location!! The private beache was the best! The bay is beautiful. The house was pleasant, hosts kind and food adequate. Would definitely stay here again and again.

My husband and I chose this B&B for our honeymoon because of its bay view and quiet environment, we were not disappointed at all. The private beach access was a huge plus, as we took several strolls and enjoyed the peaceful scenery. We would certainly return to the Baywood and can't wait for the next trip!

This was our second stay at the Baywood and we were just as happy this time as our first. Even with a short power-outage during a thunderstorm, it was a beautiful and peaceful place to be. I was beyond impressed with the quality of accomodations we found at the Baywood. For such a reasonable price - especially when compared with some of the other B&B's in the area - you get an intimate B&B experience, private beach, and in our case, a charming room with a terrace overlooking the Chesapeake. Breakfast was delicious and the owners were eager to share the history and culture of the Eastern Shore. Cannot recommend enough; we will be back.

We had a fine three nights at The Baywood. My expectations for any place that we stay are always high, and The Baywood met ALL those expectations, with service rated as exceeded. Mike is a great host, and Robin (the housekeeper/cook/etc.) was delightful. I most certainly would highly recommend The Baywood, and when we return to the Eastern Shore of Virginia we'll stay here.

My girlfriend and I have stayed here 3 years running for a week at a time, and will stay no where else when we go to Virginia. The house is amazing, and instantly you fell refreshed and relaxed when you walk onto the rear porch and see the amazing view of the Chesapeake Bay. Mike and Sharon have a wonderful breakfast prepared. Everything from wonderful muffins, to delicious, filling casseroles. And the fruit shells are a wonderful complement every morning. We stayed in the Cape Charles Room, and the views only get better. A nice walk-out deck compliments the spacious bedroom/living area. The walk in closet is rather large, as is the bathroom, with its large tub, and separate shower. A minutes walk to the beach will allow you to bask in the sun, watch the crabs walk the sandy surface, and take in a good book (which I completed!). Nice restaraunts in the area include Kelly's Pub, Aqua (Great Wines, and beautiful way to watch an East Coast Sunset), and Sting Ray's (Seafood, and home cooking.) When we go on vacation again, hopefully before next year, this is the only place on our minds. The Baywood. - Keith and Jamie

We needed a place to spend the night, and there are very few quality motels in this area. I enjoyed walking the beach in the morning. Breakfast was very good. The room was large, but the bed was not as firm as I like my bed. I would stay here again and recommend it to any one that wants to get away and have some peace and quite.

The Baywood is a small B&B that overlooks Chesapeake Bay. We stayed there en route to the OBX and enjoyed it. The room was very comfortable, the hosts charming, and the breakfast was hearty and delicious.

The staff was extremely friendly. The private beach was truly incredible. We can't wait to go back.

I spent two nights at Baywood with my 13 year-old daughter. We were enjoying Virginia's eastern shore for a day before the Chincoteague "Pony Swim". Baywood was lovely, clean, and easy to find. We enjoyed the beach in nearby Cape Charles (a very charming town) and enjoyed Baywood's private beach on the Chesapeake Bay, where we walked and collected shells. The hosts were oh-so-accomodating: On our day of departure, we had to check out by 5:00 am. Our host arose early and baked muffins at 4:30 just so we'd have some breakfast to go! It doesn't get much more accomodating than that! Baywood is very easy to find, as it's the first road (and residence) after crossing the Bay Bridge/Tunnel from Norfolk. I'd love to pay a return visit and highly recommend it!

My wife and I stayed one night at The Baywood in July 2011. Every aspect of our stay was terrific. We went for two long walks on the beach and never encountered another soul. Our room was impeccably clean and had a balcony with an amazing view of the Chesapeake Bay. Breakfast on the porch was fresh and delicious. The owners were friendly and helpful, even accommodating my special dietary requests. I couldn't recommend this B&B more highly! We will be back!

When my boyfriend and I first arrived at the Baywood, we were in awe of the views; the pictures simply do not do it justice. The private beach was great and the room was perfect. The breakfast was amazing, the muffins are spectacular. Mike and Sharon are so kind and make every effort to make your stay the best possible; I would whole-heartedly recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone!

We booked the Baywood for my 55th birthday for a two night stay. I phoned ahead to say that I had been ill and mught not make it. We did arrive as planned. However, I became very ill when we arrived. We cut our stay to one night and were not charged for the second night. Observations on the short stay: Beautiful setting, quiet, clean, friendly but not overly so. Will definitely go back for longer stay.

We visited Cape Charles and the Eastern Shore of Virginia... found the Baywood B&B and had a beautiful, sparkling clean room on the Chesapeake Bay with wonderful owners that greeted us at the door! Cape Charles is a quaint little town with a boat dock and harbor... Gorgeous sunsets and a great beach right outside our room!

We had the pleasure of staying at the Baywood for three nights. Mike and Sharon are perfect hosts. The place was clean, the food was terrific and the location was incredible. Private beach -what more could you want. Very easy to find. You could just spend the day there and relax or explore the peninsula. We will definitely go back and have already recommended it to several of our friends. You can't go wrong staying here.

This was our first B&B experience. We loved the accommodations, and the dining. The suite was roomy and comfortable, with our own balcony overlooking the bay. The private beach was perfect. The owners were friendly, but respectful of our privacy. Five stars! Baywood is THE place to stay on Eastern Shore!

I was looking for a private place on the beach and boy, did I ever find it! The Lighthouse room was wonderfully spaceous and the views are excellent. Lots of big soft towels, a dispenser in the shower for shampoo, conditioner, etc, and very attentive host and hostess. Mike, Sharon, and Rachel were all very friendly and helpful wanting to make sure our stay was pleasurable. Even the resident cat, Mash, joined us in the evenings to watch the sunsets. I got to walk a mile and a half on the beach and didn't see another person. I had the whole place to myself. Going out to eat will be a little drive, but there are some nice places within 8 miles. And if you have Celiac Disease, they can accomodate your needs, both at the inn and a couple of the restaurants we tried out. We will be returning in the fall and possibly for our 10th anniversary.

Was warmly greeted by the proprietors, shown around & then "left alone", which suited us. Beautiful, peaceful spot and nice, comfortable accomodations. The view of the bay is awesome. Breakfast was good - and muffins a real treat!

The Baywood is beautiful, very clean and has a serenity to it that made my husband and I immediately feel relaxed and at home. The rooms are spacious and comfortable (ahhhh....) and the service and attention was genuine and gracious. This was our first time staying at a B&B and it was wonderful! We will be renting the Baywood for an entire weekend during our son's wedding and can't wait to share the experience with my parents and the minister and his wife. We know it will be a refuge of peace for us at the end of each day. Great service, comfortable, clean and peaceful -- now that makes for a great place to stay!

Our stay at the Baywood couldn't have been any better. The house is beautiful, owners are welcoming and attentive, our room was lovely and the setting is spectacular! Stress just melts away as you sit on the balcony or on the lawn and look out over the bay. Can't wait to go back!

We did not get to stay long but we were impressed with how clean the Baywood B&B was and also Sharon and Mike were very friendly too. I highly recommend this palce to stay when visiting Cape Charles. It is right off the bay bridge so it was very easy to get home the next morning back to DC. This was a plus.

This was our third trip to the baywood and will be returning in October. We live in New York , a perfect stop on our way to the Outer Banks. This time we were coming up from So. Carolina to stay here. Mike and Sharon are always very welcoming , we had to leave early the next morning so could not stay for breakfast , but Mike had packed some of the delicious Baywood muffins for our trip. We are so happy to have discovered this B&B. The rooms are spacious, everything is clean. Absolutely love the way the place is decorated along with the little touches in the room. We were passing through the Eastern Shore on our way to Cape May NJ to attend our grandson's graduation from "boot camp" at the Coast Guard Training Center. We selected the Baywood sight unseen and found it to be one of the nicest B&B's we have ever used. The view was outstanding.

This is the third time I've stayed at the Baywood and am planning to return next month. It's an excellent stopover on my way to my house in the Outer Banks when I don't want to complete the 9-hour drive! Sharon and Mike are engaging, flexible, and willing to go out of their way to make your stay comfortable.

After an 8 hour drive from SC, a pleasent stopover on our way north. We did a nice walk on the beach & hung-out overlooking the bay. the Baywood's cat hung with us and was very entertaining. our room had a balcony and the sunset was spectacular. Best choice for a B&B we could have made. Breakfast was very good ,but not over the top. Plan to make it a continual event when we drive north.

From the moment we turned onto the white rock drive until we left we were more than pleased with our time at the Baywood Bed&Breakfast. We'll definitely be back!

Reserved their back room overlooking the cape & beach. Although the stairs are a bit of a climb, it was worth it. Make sure you also have their signature Baywood Bran Muffin!

The house and location were very good. However, the breakfast was not the total goumet style I was expecting. I've stayed in only a 2 other B&B's and the breakfast was gourmet grade. The breakfast was good, but just not what I was expecting from prior B&B experience. This may not be a fair judgement then, but just providing my honest opinion.

I enjoyed my stay so much that I can't wait to do it again. My room was spacious, with a sitting area and a walk-in closet. The bathroom was huge with a big tub and separate shower. The view was everything they said it would be and more. Breakfast was enjoyable with great conversation. I didn't want to leave!

Really great B&B in a wonderful spot just overlooking the water. We stayed there three nights and enjoyed our entire stay. The high points for me were the private beach connected to the property -- totally secluded, great beach-combing, very romantic walks-- the spacious room with nice bathroom and a large deck overlooking the water. Also, the proprietors were very friendly and down to earth. It's an amazing property that the owners have really put a lot of time and effort into making the perfect dream B&B. Breakfast was great -- ask for the spinach quiche or the Ole Casserole. They let us keep our 3.5 lb dog there too, which was a definite bonus. One last random thing I love about the Baywood was the entertaining and gregarious orange tabbycat, Mash. The Baywood is close enough to Chincoteague to take a nice day trip and avoid the commercialized town of Chincoteague while still getting to see the ponies. Highly recommended!

Owner was friendly and easy going, thus making you comfortable from the beginning. Baywood was very clean, very neat, exceptional linens, large bathroom and bedroom, comfortable accommodations. This facility sits right on the Chesapeake Bay with a private beach and quiet, relaxing atmosphere. It was our first B&B experience and will definitely trying it again based on this experience.

As they say in real estate, location is everything. So too in bed and breakfasts. This inn's location is amazing. It sits on a bluff overlooking the Chesapeake Bay right above the Chesapeake Bay bridge/tunnel. We arrived at the inn on a beautiful evening with enough time to take a stroll on the private beach. We were rewarded with an incredible sunset. The inn is as great as the location. Mike, the owner, settled us into our room and was very friendly and inviting. The room was spacious and comfortable. It had a porch looking out towards the bay, so we sat outside and took in the last of the sunset and watched the bats swooping by. Breakfast is served at 8:30 and was simple but delicious especially the homemade muffins. There is a very comfy living room with a TV that guests are invited to use. This is a perfect place to stay if you are looking for a little rest and relaxation.

I wasn't sure what to expect but it was a nice setting with great views and access to the beach. There is a slight drive to any other diing but I assume you are there to get away like I was. I would reccomend it and if possible go for the extra coast fo the ocen side rooms with the balcony and view of sea.

The location was wonderful. It was very quiet and private with a great view of the bay and what looked like a nice beach. (It was March, so we didn't use the beach.) The B&B is more simply furnished than many, but comfortable. We stayed in the light house room. It was large, extremely comfortable, very clean and had a wonderful view. Breakfast was fruit, scrambled eggs, sausage, and a large muffin - perfectly adequate but nothing special. But then again, it was also a very reasonable price. The owners were very friendly. We would definitely stay there again.

The Baywood was a wonderful getaway. Mike and Sharon were very sweet, always there to give us whatever we needed. They are one of the only b&b's that have a beach you can walk to in less than a minute. The room was very clean which i loved. Breakfast was big, yummy too. We weren't bothered at all. It was great to get away from all the hustle and bustle and just relax. Not to much shopping around the areas but great restaurants!

My fiancee and I spent the night here to get away from everything. From the moment we walked in it felt like we were visiting an old friend's house. We braved the cold to watch the sunset on the private beach and it was well worth it. Everything was clean and comfortable. I'm a picky eater and the breakfast was delicious. Sharon even made me some more food after she noticed my above average apetite. I would gladly stay again and recommend it to people visiting the area.

We stayed at the Baywood for a few nights, the week of Christmas, and had a great time! Upon arrival, we were greeted by a very friendly cat named Mash. The inn was exquisitely clean and welcoming, decorated for the season. Loved the decor and how new the overall property was. We stayed in the Lighthouse room, which had it's own private balcony. Would have been nice to spend some time to enjoy it, if the weather were better. The view of the bay from the back of the house was absolutely breathtaking. Although, it's December, the walk a long the private beach was fantastic! Lots of shells and plenty of privacy. My only small issue was having to pay the toll multiple times while crossing the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. If you don't plan on a lot of back and forth travel, it's the best B&B you could ask for. Thanks so much for such a wonderful first B&B experience!

This was our first time stay at a B&B and we were kind of apprehensive. It turned out Mike & Sharon were great hosts the location was absolutely awesome being on the Chesapeake Bay near all kinds of historical places to see with many outdoor activities. We stayed two days it was truly romantic and within a few minutes’ drive to some really interesting towns and places we visited. The breakfast was very good and use of the common areas nice. We were able to watch football, have internet access, and meet other guest. Out of all the other B&B we looked at in the area this was defiantly an excellent choice! We can’t say enough good things, truly a gem and recommend to anyone considering a stay on the eastern shore area. Dallas & Susan

My girlfriend and I enjoyed our stay here. It is pretty remote and quiet. The sunset was simply awesome to look at over the bay. Very close to Cheasapeke Bay Bridge tunnel so va beach isnt that far. We already want to go back.

This property was beautiful! Location was wonderful right on the Chesapeake Bay. The room was spacious and the bathroom with the tub and shower was great. The hosts were wonderful and the food, including the baywood muffin, were to die for. I have been recommending this inn to everyone!!

Quiet home nestled in the woods provided a beautiful view of the bay. Relaxing atmosphere, spacious rooms, and a delicious breakfast made it a great place.

Robin, Mike and Sharon, We had such a wonderful time at your home. As stated it is so super clean, Robin sure works hard and does a great job for you. I so much enjoyed spending time with her while she made the breakfast. She madew us feel at home as did mike when we spent the evening with him watching Hell's Kitchen. We had bought a take ut dinner at sting Rays and had hoped to eat out on the back porch however the winds were to strong, so we ate inside and talked with mike for some time. Our room was the lighthouse room, It had a full bathroom with deep soaking tub with wonderful bath tolietries. The room also has a wonderful and comfortable queen size bed. 2 recliners which look out the balcony to the millon dollar view of the bay. We spent out the day on the private beach and fished, and enjoyed a beautiful sunset. The step to the beach are steep, however I was able to make them and only had knee surgery 3 week before. enjoyed our very short visit, but will be back. they have a small hot tub outside so come prepared.
