This lovely inn is situated right in the middle of town- it has an old time feel to it, but with all the modern amenities. Quaint, well cared for, lovely balcony off bedroom.

We absolutely loved our visit to this very charming, small cozy town inn! If you enjoy the romantic feel of a small town, and old railroad charms, this is the place! Makes a perfect getaway from Richmond, as well, and the people could not have been nicer or more accommodating! We are planning on using this getaway often, now that we know about it!! The trains running thru , for us, were a major plus, as we still enjoy the childlike thrill of a train! Our room was very comfy , and the whole atmosphere was very laid-back and relaxing! I loved the porch the best, besides the wonderful food, and the fact that we didn't have to go anywhere, or get all dressed up on our getaway, for lunch or dinner, and enjoyed the food and the chef coming out to speak to everyone , as well. The two sisters, and their mom, as servers, were absolutely delightful! We had only booked for Friday and Saturday night, but immediately booked for Sunday night as well, to let the weekend last a little longer, since I didn't have to be at work until a little later in the morning Monday, and could get ready from the inn, so it was a nice, "extended" getaway so close to home that we didn't have to waste part of the time just getting to the destination!

    This is a lovely inn

We enjoyed our visit to the Henry Clay. The staff were most helpful and engaging. The rooms were everything you would expect at a modern hotel with the charm of long ago. We will certainly be calling in for another reservation.

We stayed in room 100 (advertised as the most luxurious and spacious), but it's not worth the extra money because: 1. The Inn is less than 50 ft from a working train track that has train running by every couple hours (including through the night). 2. Room 100 is on the first floor, sharing one wall with the kitchen, another with the main entrance area, and another with the front porch. From the kitchen, we heard the radio playing and could clearly hear the cooks coversations from about 10am-10pm. We could also clearly hear guests speaking in normal voices from both the entrance area and the front porch. 3. The jacuzi does have jets, but is really only big enough for one person. Overall, I would not stay here again. If you do come to stay, just remember that room 100 is not worth the extra money. The other rooms are upstairs, so I don't know how the noise is for them.

    Innkeeper Response
As always your comments are welcomed. I am sorry that you had an unpleasant experience at our Inn. We strive to give everyone great service with Southern hospitality. Our inn is a beautiful reproduction of the previous one that burned down in 1946. We are situated just South of the original location on the old RFP railroad(now CSX owned and operated). The town of Ashland was founded during the Civil War, growing out from the railroad. This is one of our most popular and unique features. We do offer a restaurant that serves on Friday, Saturday (lunch and dinner) and on Sunday for brunch. Our hours of operation are from 10am - 2pm and from 5pm - 9pm. This is a quiet, intimate, casual restaurant seating approximately 22 guests. We also serve on the screened in front porch weather permiting.(this area is only open to guests during restaurant hours) Suite 100 has a door to the front porch with an area specially reserved for their use. I will change our web site concerning the jacuzzi tub as it is a normal sized tub with jets. This is an oversite on the part of our website maintenance service. The two suites on the second floor do offer a jacuzzi tub made for two, extra deep. I am terribly sorry for the confusion. We hope your travel plans will bring you back our way. We would love the opportunity to add you to our ever growing list of returning friends.
