We stayed the nights of Oct 14, 15 & 16. The innkeeper not in evidence. She ran her cafe fulltime. The inn guests were being taken care of by her staff. If no one was at inn when guests arrived they were directed by post a note to their room. Tried to read in parlor, two of lamps had no bulbs. Light by my bedside had burned out bulb, remote for TV had dead batteries. Told staff she replaced light bulb, had to use our own batteries for remote entire stay. We filled waste basket in bathroom first night. It was not emptied the entire stay. Bath towel had hole in it. Asked for washcloths for third day, didn't get them. When we went to check out we were told Amy thought we were staying another day and our room rate was $149 per night for a 3-day stay. Our reservation was made by phone with someone named Charley. Upon returning home I checked my notes and rate was supposed to be $129 a night with 10% 3-day discount. On a paper in our room listing guidelines for inn was an item stating most inns were adding a gratuity charge to room rate, but they didn't and a gratuity was considered optional. This is something new to me in Bed & Breakfasts. I would prefer to have it included to know what the total charge is. The staff who was there had more than she could do. She prepared the breakfast, cleaned the rooms and did what she could to help the guests. She was a sweet and helpful girl, but she was not the innkeeper, which is what an inn needs. I was ready to write off Bed & Breakfasts, fortunately the next two inns we stayed were everything a B & B should be and at far less the cost.

    Innkeeper Response
Just for the record, if asked I would have let you know there was a tragic family emergency at this time and my staff HAD to help. However, light bulbs do burn out and one never knows when. Staff replaces light bulbs when requested to do so or upon checkout when cleaning. Yes, my staff is "sweet and helpful" as you described... so I am wondering if they were so helpful why the trash was not emptied and why washcloths werent replaced? They say ignorance is bliss.... well I give EVERY customer my personal phone number (in the letter with the optional gratuity you spoke of) and I never got one call about this....and I urge everyone to call for the smallest thing.... I live in the Inn and am home every night and available to guests. Instead of hurting my small business and my livelihood as I am sure you wouldnt want me calling your boss and hurting your chances of a promotion or causing you to lose your job...you should have communicated. I would never INTENTIONALLY do harm to someone because of a light burning out and a rate can be adjusted. Writing bad reviews about things that could have been solved while visiting is really totally unnecessary and hurts the small business. So...please try to work it out with the owner and not ruin someone's livelihood...you could be hurting not only the business but the owner's small child and family.

My Husband and I stayed at the Woodbrige Inn in Feb. 2010. We were the only couple staying that weekend, so it was very quiet! Breakfast was outstanding and very filling. Amy was a wonderful host. Chatted during breakfast but did not take over the conversation. We never had a problem getting into the Inn, even late at night. We would recommend this Inn!

A great, cozy country inn in a quaint New England village. The innkeeper, Amy, is a wonderful host, and also knows her way around the kitchen!

Beautiful location some miles out of Woodstock, VT - but they were clearly having an off day. We were locked out of the house on two occasions in the afternoon - only gaining entry by knocking and calling on the back door to alert a man watching television. Breakfast was fine and the room was lovely, but our room was not freshened/ cleaned on the second day. We were disappointed.
