West Hill House

The B&B is very homey and meticulously kept. There is a surprising number of small touches that make your stay even more pleasant. Peter and Susan are wonderful hosts, very personable and accommodating, We stayed in the Mountain room and it was perfect for our needs. Not too big nor too small, and a surprising large bathroom with a jacuzzi tub. If you like skiing, Sugarbush is less than a 5 minute drive away, and if you don't feel like driving, a shuttle will pick you up at the door. Breakfast was fantastic every day. Susan did not serve the same thing twice, and every breakfast was three courses! I've never had a breakfast dessert and looked forward to it each morning. Breakfast is served at the same time each morning at a common table with the other guests. This was a great way to start the day, share stories of our adventures, and plan our days' activities. Each morning Peter had Sugarbush's trail and weather report ready for review in his iPad. Susan was amazing to see in action in the kitchen and we were often greeted by the aroma of freshly baked goods when we came back from skiing. There is a wide variety of restaurants to choose from for dinner, and Peter and Susan can fill you in on the specifics of each one. They were also very informative regarding the various shops located nearby. One highlight of the stay was Peter's scotch and beer selection. For a charge comparable to a tavern, they have a nice selection of local beer and a variety of single malt scotches. Peter gave me some tasting tips and offered sound advice regarding the characteristics of each scotch. Snowball and Smokey are the resident cats, and each has it's own personality. Snowball is quiet and reserved, while Smokey is talkative and a little quirky. Both are nice to have around and provide unexpected entertainment. The next time we visit the area, we will be staying here again.

From the moment we walked into the entranceway I knew that this was going to be a possitive experience in this B&B. The charming hall for coats and shoes lead us into a lovely dining area with a view that was so spectacular and typical of Vermont. We met Susan and her greeting was genuinely warm and friendly. Our room was cozy and so tastefully done. It also contained so many amenities that I can't recall all of them. I was incredibly impressed with "safety" features and the cleanliness. Breakfast is served both by Susan and Peter and they truly make you feel "at home" as well as serve an incredibly delicious breakfast to get you ready for the day. The comforts of tea or coffee are always available and convenient. The entire house is there for pure comfort and entertainment you wish. I recommend this B&B for anyone who wants a lovely stay in one of Vermont's lovliest areas. Anne Marie Warren

One of the best three days of our lifes. Agreat Inn with even greater Inn Keepers who are always there with suggestions, directions, ect.. Breakfast was our best meal of the day. Well worth the price.

We stayed for 4 nights in early October at this wonderful place. Place is too poor a word as it very soon felt like a second home. Our welcome was genuinely warm and Peter and Sue were perfect hosts. They made our hike day perfect by picking us up at the end of our walk up Mount Abraham, Little Abe and Mount Lincoln. Had they not we would have only managed the first mountain and then had to retrace our steps. The walk Peter recommended. And it was excellent. We stayed in the Highland Room which was perfect in all aspects. Breakfasts were superb: all four of them, with lots of tasty goodies and a first for us-a small breakfast dessert to round off with. On top of this there are lots of easily accessible places. We visited the Shelburne Museum, Waterbury, Stowe and drove along the Lincoln Gap Road which was in wonderful autumn colour. All good. Stowe was lovely to visit but the quiet and calm of Westhill was even lovelier. We had considered one or two B & Bs in Stowe and are more than pleased we chose Warren instead. The grounds are immaculate too. West Hill has lots of spaces for guest use: a lounge, library stocked with a good range of books and DVDs. The use of a washer dryer was a real boon to us after a week in New England. Above all else the friendliness of our our hosts and guests was a delight. If you have Westhill on your list of places to perhaps stay don't let it slip away by waiting. Go now. If we lived in the States we would put this right at the top of our places to re-visit. Great Stay! Peter and Susan are great hosts....rooms have everything including wi-fi. Breakfasts were great and creative. Peter had I Pad out for info on weather, directions, etc. Wonderful comon rooms which I wish I had more time to use and the grounds are beautiful..This is right at Sugarbush Ski area...great visit with gracious inkeepers...they even set up an early breakfast for several quests who had to leave early for a Norwich University homecoming event. You will love this B & B.

Nice B+B, Inn keepers, loacation and breakfast. I highly recomend a stay here. Perferct location for skiing Peter calls for the shuttle and it picks you up right outside the door. Really nice and friendly!

We took advantage of the generous offer of a night of free lodging for veterans on Nov. 10. Susan and Peter have "nailed" the art of innkeepers. They seemed to anticipate our needs. We were greeted with a very warm welcome and shown around the house. The delicious "vanishing cookies" and coffee/tea bar were available to us 24/7. We looked forward to the gourmet breakfast and were not disappointed. Delicious! Our room was comfortable and inviting. If you like interesting people and conversation, West Hill House is the place to stay. We had a wonderful time and stayed an extra day.

Peter and Susan are the most wonderful hosts you'll ever meet. The house is so cozy, you won't want to go back home. Oh! and the breakfast was AMAZING!! We loved it, can't wait to go back!!!

We sprung for the Paris room and could not have been more pleased. The two person Jacuzzi tub was truly decadent. Peter and Susan were delightful, breakfast was delicious, and the property was beautiful. We will be staying here again!

We had a wonderfuol stay! Peter and Susan are superb hosts! They were so helpful with our day trips and places to eat. The breakfast both mornings were so delicious and the dessert was scrumptous! The Inn is so pretty and the setting is beautiful. Our room was very clean and so cute. They really made us feel so welcome. We left with wonderful memories and hope to go back.

This place was UNBELIEVABLE! Views were Gorgous, service was over the top. Peter and Susan were outstanding. I can't wait to go back and stay again.

West Hill is truly an exceptional B&B. From the gourmet breakfast (including breakfast dessert; what a treat) and the personal attention of Susan and Peter in helping us plan our day trips with places (especially waterfalls) we didn't know about, to a beautiful, tranquil setting, we had a memorable stay. This is definitely a place to return to.

I had a delightful summertime stay at this charming B&B nestled in the Sugarbush ski region. I stayed in the Bluebonnet room, which was lovely, and had a wonderful steam shower. Breakfast was delicious, and the gardens were charming. Peter and Susan were very gracious hosts and had good advice about local sites to explore. I highly recommend this if you are planning a trip to this area.

I visited West Hill House for the second time, this time in the summer. It was so gorgeous, with all the gardens in full bloom! Last time I was there was in the winter, when this inn makes the most perfect place for ski getaway! Winter or summer, it's fabulous. Why? 1) Great rooms - many built into the eves or accessed by their own private staircases. 2) Tons of places for R&R - four ponds, garden paths, a gazebo built from birch trees on the property, a firepit, even a pond-side hammock! 3) Tons of common space - a large living room, a sun room with the world's most comfortable leather couch, a deck with an awning. 4) Incredible breakfasts followed by a breakfast dessert. Perfect way to start the day. 5) Susan and Peter are so fun, lively and interesting. Great hosts! I could go on and on, but there are the top 5 reasons to stay at West Hill House!

Very hospitable, Peter and Susan are. Always available, seemingly up to any need a guest might have related to the stay there, very generous, above all, in making everything comfortable.

We haven't stayed in many B n B's, but our experience at the West Hill House openned our eye's to a wonderful way relax without giving up superior ammenities offered at 5 star resorts. The rooms were great, service excellent and outside grounds perfectly maintained for a Vermont experience. Owners were wonderfully friendly, but knew how to give you your space and privacy. We loved it, and we'll definately be back!

Peter and Susan are gracious, welcoming hosts. The breakfast and the company was excellent- A Vermont country breakfast with gourmet touches! Wish we could have stayed longer. I hope we'll make it a yearly adventure.

What a pleasure to come back to West Hill House B&B after a day of skiing. Stoves warm and glowing, honor bar with wine or beer, 24/7 coffee or tea, wide selection of DVDs or VHS tapes, great selection of music with breakfast, and an amazingly comfortable bed. Peter and Susan are wonderful hosts and the cats were a bonus for us.

We enjoyed every minute of our stay at West Hill House and the Mad River Valley. Susan and Peter made us feel right at home. All the outdoor activities we did there (skiing, snowshoeing, cross country skiing) were superb and affordable thanks to the Ski The Valley Passes that Susan & Peter arranged for us. We started each day with a delicous breakfast, interesting conversation and a fantastic view. Everywhere we went the people were friendly, the food was delicious and the setting was spectacular. We stayed in the Paris Suite and we enjoyed luxuriating in the hot tub for two by the fireplace after a long day. We plan to go back next year.

From initial contact, through rescheduling of our visit, to final good byes after too short a stay, Susan and Peter's gracious attention to every comfort during our 2-night stay was outstanding, their home exceptionally inviting for a mini winter sport reunion with our 2 adult children. I only wish we could have stayed longer...

We had a terrible snow storm one of the nights we stayed and our host were oh so gracious. Shoveled us out cleaned off cars, pushed cars, offered guest dinner when none was arranged. Peter and Susan make you feel like family and that you are truly staying with them in a home. Thank you.

I just returned from my third stay at the West Hill House and I'm already looking forward to returning next winter, if not sooner. Peter and Susan are wonderful inn keepers who make their guests feel at home and provide amazing service. Nothing but positive things to say about the inn itself, the scrumptious breakfasts provided by Susan, and the charm of Warren and surrounding towns. It's a perfect weekend get away if you are looking for a relaxing time with the option of numerous activities such as skiing, snow shoeing, shopping, and antiquing.

We absolutely loved this B&B. Peter and Susan were the perfect hosts and made us feel right at home. Beyond that the town of Warren is a gem. We were looking for some r&r, great skiing and great food - we got all three. I highly recommend staying here, skiing at Sugarbush and hitting up the local restaurants. We dined at Chez Henri (get the duck!) and Tracks at the Pitcher Inn, ps - susan is a great baker - she had a bottomless cookie jar that we definately took advantage of!

Susan and Peter have a wonderful B&B situated perfectly minutes from Sugarbush. We enjoyed our breakfast and were on the slopes with door to door free shuttle service by 9:30.

Our stay with Peter and Susan at West Hill House B&B during the middle of October 2010 was the highlight of our 15 day New England fall foliage vacation. We stayed at several overnight stops on our trip through Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont and Peter and Susan’s West Hill House was by-far the most inviting, warm, and accommodating. Peter and Susan made us feel like old friends and were very helpful in helping us arrange our daily activities around Warren, VT. It was also a pleasure to sit at the breakfast table and visit with our hosts and some of the other guests from England and Australia. We highly recommend West Hill House and look forward to our return in the future. In addition to saying our stay with Peter and Susan was warm and enjoyable we would like to add that the breakfast meals were very tasty and hot beverages and cookies were always available throughout the day and evening. We were even brought ice water to our room each night. Peter and Susan make you feel like you are a part of the family, the food, atmosphere, rooms and common areas are so nice. There 2 cats Smokey and Snowball made us feel like we were at home, and the house is located so close to everything. Loved it!!! can't wait to go back!!

Just returned from a 3 day stay at the West Hill Bed and Breakfast. Its a great place to stay and very convenient to Sugarbush Mtn. The hosts are wonderful, very friendly and helped us find our way around. The breakfasts were delicious and I met some very nice people who also seemed to be having a nice time

This was our second visit to the West Hill House and I am pleased to report that it was every bit as enjoyable as the first. The inn is extremely comfortable, inviting, and cozy. The breakfasts (and cookies) are delicious. Most importantly, Peter and Susan offer exceptional hospitality. They were even kind enough to personally drive us to and from a local repair shop when we experienced car trouble. We hope to return yet again in the future.

Our family has been coming to this Inn for the past 5 years and would not stay anywhere else during our Thanksgiving get together. The Inn is very spacious yet maintains many aspects of a warm and inviting charming corner of the world Peter and Susan, the owners along with their two adorable and loving cats make your stay so memorable you instantly become friends chatting for hours along a fire with Yummy cookies made fresh in the afternoon. Our family is always very sad to leave and already counting the days till next thanksgiving.

This was my first time staying at a B & B and it was the most rewarding experience I could have asked for. I decided since my in-laws were in from S. Africa to take them up to Vermont for a few days to getaway. Peter and Susan were the best hosts we could have asked for, from meeting us on the first day, to chatting in the evenings by the fireplace to helping us pick out our days destinations, we could not have asked for better people. The breakfasts were simply to die for, the scones and eggs on the first day and pancakes on the 2nd were the best I have ever tasted. Our room was comfy and cozy and I appreciated the extra amenities available. My husband and I can't wait until we have another few days to go up and enjoy the experience once again. We stayed in the Bluebonnet room and my in-laws in the Highland Room. Both rooms were very comfortable, the bathrooms very clean and spacious and the beds extremely comfy. I could not have asked for anything more. It was the best place to stay for our first B & B experience!!!

Besides the lovely setting, secluded but not isolated, we found that the hosts anticipated our every need. That's not just talk - in most good inns a host will gladly respond to your every request. At West Hill House they knew the kinds of things we would be asking for before we ourselves did. They obviously have paid attention to many guests in the past and know how to do their job very well.

We stayed at the West Hill House for a weekend in July, and our experience was wonderful. We chose this bed and breakfast because we have always been pleased with other inns that are members of Select Registry. Susan and Peter were wonderful hosts and were helpful in every respect, from providing information about the area to making reservations for us at the restaurants. The breakfasts were excellent and the atmosphere was relaxing; Snowball and Smoky are adorable. We had a great dinner at The Common Man restaurant and a wonderful round of golf at the Sugarbush Golf Course.

My husband and I had stayed at the West Hill House B&B last year when we got engaged, and had to come back after our wedding! We had yet another perfect weekend of amazing hospitality and kindness. Peter and Susan surprised us with a celebratory bottle of champagne, and were again incredibly kind and accommodating! The room was incredibly comfortable, clean, and made for a perfect mini honeymoon to relax after the wedding.

I usually stay at luxury hotels. This was my first bed and breakfast experience and it exceeded my expectations. The room, cleanliness, service and location of the inn were all excellent. Innkeepers Susan and Peter are extremely nice and very helpful. Highly recommended.

I have stayed at this B&B 3 times now, but this is the first time since it was purchased by Peter and Susan. They are fabulous hosts, very knowledgeable about the area. This B&B has the largest common area of any I have seen. Cozy living room, sun room, dining room plus a library with a pool table. Usually I spend most of my time in my room at a B&B, but here I was comfortable playing a nice card game by the fire with a glass of wine (from their nice wine cellar) and using their complimentary internet. The hosts make a big effort to be "green" which I also liked. All this along with the great location makes West Hills hard to beat! Also accepted my bed and breakfast.com gift certificates with no problem.

We enjoyed our stay at West Hill very much. Our hosts were great and very helpful. The breakfasts were the best we had on our trip. The location of the B&B is right in the center of everything we wanted to see.

We spent a long Columbus Day weekend enjoying the fall color and exploring the area. The West Hill House met our every expectation of what we wanted in a New England B&B. Susan and Peter went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Very clean, very cozy and Susan's breakfasts were delicious. The number of guests seems just right (it was full up at 16 guests) and we enjoyed making new friends. The woodstoves in the common areas and the gas stoves in the bedrooms added to the ambiance, along with the decorative lighting throughout. My wife and I travelled with another couple and the four of us are planning to return in the winter for a ski weekend. The West Hill House is about a 5-minute drive from Sugarbush. We were surprised at the number of good restaurants in the area, and we enjoyed the farmer's market, Sugarbush quad chairlift up Lincoln Peak, the Sugarbush zipline, and a glider ride at Sugarbush Soaring.

Keep going up the hill as this is a wonderful place; welcoming, comfortable and with some lovely quirks.

I've been to my fair share of B&B's and this by far has been my favorite. The owners, Peter and Susan, work really hard at making this an amazing place to stay and it shows. Everything is very organized and not one detail is overlooked. The 24hr free cookies and coffee were a nice touch, as was the honor bar stocked with soda, wine, and beer. We stayed in the Paris Suite which was perfect for our honeymoon. The room very charming and also has a jacuzzi, which I'm sure is perfect for a winter stay. The grounds are beautiful and the house is kept very clean. The 2 house cats didn't even bother my allergies. The breakfast is very tasty, and Susan did a wonderful job of working with our dietary restrictions. Overall it was a wonderful stay!

Everything was perfect: from the rooms to the house to the location to the gourmet breakfasts to the guests to the loving, caring proprietors. We had the most wonderful stay we kept additional nights. We normally do not like B&Bs as they are too small, too close, too noisy and too restricted. This was totally opposite and we cannot wait to return.

My fiance and I attended a wedding in Vermont and wanted to find a bed and breakfast near the venue. We noticed that West Hill House was only about a mile away and decided to try it. Our stay could not have been better. Peter and Susan are amazing and super helpful. Our room was quite large, had a luxurious bathroom, and a private entrance. It's off the main roads making for a truly calm and peaceful atmosphere. The only drawback was that we could only stay for one night. Would have stayed for a week if our work schedule allowed!

Our visit to Vermont was like staying at a good friends house in a beautiful place thanks to Peter and Susan of West Hill House. The warmth, hospitality, and genuine concern for their guests is rare and appreciated. The Inn itself is lovely both inside and out. The location, up above town, is charming and lends itself to total relaxation. I look forward to the next time that I may come and visit there.

My lodging of choice is always a Bed & Breakfast inn, so I have stayed at many of them during my travels. My needs are specific, so I take time to research the Inn's offerings prior to booking. I generally travel alone, so it is very important that the owner(s) be friendly and available for my modest needs. This Inn was spectacular! Susan and Peter made me feel right at home from the first contact I had with them. They are of those rare breed of owner that actually wants guests in their home and migles with them throughout the day. The house is stunning and has many public rooms where guests gather in the evening to mingle and share ideas of how to spend the next day. If ever you find yourself on beautiful VT 100 in the Green Mountains, a stop at West Hill House should be on your list. You will not be dissappointed!

My family and I were lucky enough to find the West Hill B&B online, and booked out the whole house for my sister's wedding. I don't know if you can really credit them for the scenery, since the whole state of VT is amazingly gorgeous, but I can definitely say that the grounds of the home were filled with beautiful gardens and walking paths. How they manage to keep them so well manicured, while also cooking and taking care of the house is beyond me. The home it's self if a beautiful old farm house that has been expanded to include much more space than you would expect when you look at it from the outside. The rooms were spacious, quirky (My lady and I stayed in a Scottish themed room), and comfortable, the common areas are comfortable and homey, and the two cats were adorable (and had way more toes than any cat has a right to, seriously these cats had a lot of toes.) The wedding arrangements were all handled by the McClarrens and couldn't have been more perfect. We are a family that prides ourselves on doing and making rather than buying, so it is a huge compliment to say that we couldn't have done a better job if we had tried.

I was very fortunate to have spent several days with Susan and Peter at their lovely home/B & B in Warren, Vermont. Every aspect of my visit was enjoyable and Peter and Susan's warm and caring personalities were much appreciated. I slept like a bear in hibernation but fortunately woke up in time for their delicious breakfasts! They suggested nearby restaurants which I enjoyed very much. I took walks on the quiet country roads in the area, read a lot and enjoyed myself very much!

Staying at the West Hill House is a delightful part of our trips to Vermont. Susan and Peter are always welcoming and helpful, even to the point of helping with computer problems! We recommend it highly.

Susan & Peter are wonderful Hosts that go out of their way to make you welcome in their home. They are genuinely interested in your visit and will assist in any plans that you may have. The rooms are a generous size and very comfortable. All rooms have their own bath and most have a steam shower. Very nice after a day of hiking or skiing! The common rooms are spacious and cozy and the grounds are beautifully landscaped. Your visit comes complete with a gourmet 3 course breakfast which was delicious each day! We met several wonderful people during our weekend stay. I was so impressed, I booked a weekend in September before I left! Can't wait to go back! PS- there are many amenties to enjoy at West Hill House, especially during ski season. Check out the website!

We just returned from a couple of days at the West Hill Bed & Breakfast in Warren, Vt. We have avoided B&B.'s in our travels because we hadn't cared for our first experience with them. A friend recommended West Hill House and we are thrilled that we took her advice. Susan and Peter were very gracious hosts and plied us with great food and great advice on different places to see, scenic routes to take us there and restaurants when we were done for the day. The house and the grounds were lovely and very comfortable. We would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone traveling in that area.

This B&B comes highly recommended from a couple that's tough to please! We thought that we had stayed at great B&Bs before, but West Hill House exceeded our very-high expectations! Susan and Peter are wonderful hosts - always available to help us, but totally left us alone when we wanted our privacy. They served a beautiful three course breakfast each day (Susan's pastries are unbelievably delicious!), and had a huge collection of books, games, and movies to keep us busy throughout the day. We stayed in the Garden Room, which was a good size for the price, and had a great steam shower and bathtub in the private bathroom. We will definitely be back!

All details were attended to and meals were excellent and host very helpful and pleasant. Would recommend this Inn to friends.

The hosts, Peter and Susan, made our stay relaxing and memorable to the extreme. Both of these nice, intelligent people did everything they could to make our wedding special as well. The breakfasts were amazing, the room was fit for a queen, and the property is very beautiful. I highly recommend the Paris Suite because of the jacuzzi bathtub and the pre- breakfast coffee (!). We especially enjoyed the wedding because we were able to choose any spot on the grounds, the officiant was the best in the world (I am quite certain), Peter took amazing photographs of us and turned them into a photo slideshow, the cake was FABULOUS, and the flower bouquets were gorgeous. Peter and Susan were around to chat with often, yet left us alone when we wanted to be alone. Even the cats, Snowball and Smokey, helped us to not miss our cats quite so much. I cannot think of a single bad or critical thing to say about the West Hill House.

great little b & b, we only got to stay for one night but left feeling like we were old friends of peter and susan. the breakfast was amazing, our room was clean and very comfortable, and the whole experience left us wanting to return. highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway.

West Hill House is cozy and inviting. The property, building, and rooms are absolutely beautiful. The hosts are extremely friendly and hospital. They gave us maps for the area and suggested great ideas for our adventure. I am normally not a breakfast person, however I really enjoyed each breakfast at West Hill House Bed and Breakfast. We were served a three course gourmet breakfast, each day was a different meal, and they were absolutely delicious and filling. I loved that each room had its own private ensuite bathroom with jacuzzi tub and the gas fireplaces/stoves make the rooms really cozy. The bed was very comfortable and the bathrobes were an excellent bonus. We stayed in the highland room, which had its own spiral stairway entrance that made it feel nice and private. There is a great common area to enjoy. There was an enormous amount of movies to watch, a pool table and board games to play, and two friendly cats for the animal lovers on site. The wireless internet access throughout the place was great. My only negative is that I wish we would have stayed longer to enjoy the beautiful B&B more. I will most definitely visit West Hill House Bed and Breakfast in the future as nothing compares to the warm and cozy feeling and wonderful hosts.

my husband and i frequent the warren/waitsfield area and have stayed at other carefully chosen upscale inns and b&b's in the area~~ we were most impressed with susan and peter who run their inn with a passion and finite attention to their guests. the inn is nestled in the mountains and no matter what the season, it offers spectacular beauty. the inn is warm and inviting with all the "at home" ammenities. our suite was spacious with a super comfy king bed and jacuzzi! breakfast in the morning was an artful assortment of favorites including a frozen dessert, need i say more... susan and peter are the consumate hosts who's mission is to leave their guest "wanting more". the only unpleasant part of our stay, was having to leave. we would like to make the WEST HILL HOUSE a seasonal destination!!

My (now) wife and I were planning on a Vermont wedding and spent much time hunting for an ideal location that fit our needs and personalities. West Hill House proved to fit the bill. From our first email in December with Susan and Peter, to the conclusion of our stay on May 17, we were made to feel as friends, not just "customers". The beauty in the surroundings as well as the interior of the Inn and rooms was made to put you at ease and feel at home. The meals prepared by Susan and Peter, including the wedding meal, were outstanding! They were also great with advice as to what to do, where to go and how to get there. We can't imagine our wedding being any more perfect, as they worked their magic that seemed to come naturally to them. Our friends who have been to Vermont before, remarked how wonderfully relaxed and peaceful the area was. They too felt this was a perfect spot for a romantic wedding. We already are planning on returning for an anniversary visit, but may be back sooner!

Our friends and we had a great time and only wish our stay could have been longer.

We felt welcome right from the beginning from the guided tour to the explanation of the amenities. It seems that every detail has been thought of. There's even a can of bug spray near the door. I loved the fireplaces in every room and the jaccuzi tub. If one cares to watch movies there's the most extensive collection I've ever seen (and they're categorized in a book).There are also more games and books than I've seen in other places. Both Susan and Peter are a wealth of knowledge on the local area. We were early for most of the flowers but in another month it's going to be spectacular. We've already recommended the place to others and hope to go again ourselves!

I would recommend this Inn to anyone looking for a B & B. The host were admirable in their hospitality, and helpfulness. This was a very well maintained, quiet, charming inn. The best of the coziness of home with the adventure of travel.

Susan & Peter have mastered the fine art of hospitality! Their facility is spotless, comfortable and welcoming. Located near skiing and golf it is a retreat for all seasons. Susan does an outstanding job of creating unique tasty breakfast items (not to mention the kitchen cookie jar)! And, have you ever heard of dessert for breakfast!! Peter is helpful to a fault with everything from reservations to shuttling guests. They are witty, and casual and instantly make you feel at home. Guest rooms were beautiful, comfortable, and spacious. A place we hope to return to many more times.

We had a wonderful three nights at The West Hill B & B. Susan and Peter are just what hosts should be: attentive, knowledgeable, engaging, and helpful with every detail of one's stay. The property is just lovely and immaculately clean. It offers a variety of spaces in which to relax including a cozy library with pool table and fireplace; fireplaced living room; and sun room with wide screen TV (we had breakfast there one morning as well). Out room, The Allen Suite, was perfect for my husband and I and 12 twelve year old son, and was every bit as nice as in the website site photos.....the gas fired stove made it quite cozy. Susan's breakfasts are just wonderful, and quite hearty. They have a great selection of wine and beer, as Susan's cookies/snacks were a nice plus. Our hosts made excellent selections for dinners (we enjoyed them all), and were able to tell us just about everything we needed to know about the area. We were happy to be so close to Sugarbush for skiing, and enjoyed sledding across the street from the inn as well. I guess it really sums it up to say that we really felt "at home" at West Hill, and fully relaxed and satisfied!

The West Hill Inn is just beautiful inside and out. The view from the inn is the bright red barn, the hills of a golf course and mountains in the distance. It is quaint and simple, yet still elegant. The Inn is packed with so much to do in case of a rainy day (movies, books, games and a large pool table). Also, I LOVE the fact that the inn has Mad River Sleds and snowshoes that the guests can borrow for a fun romp in the snow. My husband and I went for our 1 year anniversary and had a splendid time. Peter and Susan (the innkeepers) are an adorable couple who only add to the terrific atmosphere. They are charming and treat each of their guests with a warmness and kindness that unfortunately, you don't often find in the hospitality field. Susan placed the bride and groom caketoppers from her own wedding at John and my seat at breakfast to celebrate our anniversary (what a special touch). They were so patient and helpful in arranging things for John and I to do and giving us simple directions to get there. Oh, and the meals were to die for!!! The only complaint I have about the delicious breakfasts is that I always over indulged myself and felt too full to go skiing!!! Thank you Susan and Peter for making our 1st anniversary very special! For the price, this inn is a great deal! I would highly reccomend it to anyone!

This B & B had wonderful breakfasts and a cozy relaxing environment. The innkeepers were very friendly, willing to share information for places to go and recommendations for dining. The area is wonderful with great skiing and lots of resturants with good quality food. There are also some nice shops and things to do all year round. Would definitly stay at the West Hill House again.

The room was cozy and beautiful, the breakfasts were outstaning, Peter and Susan were delightful and knowledgeable. A definite 10!

We were looking for a unique place to stay for a ski weekend at Sugarbush and Mad River Glen and were so pleased to find Peter and Susan's treasure! We were greeted with the aroma of fresh baked cookies and Peter offerring to take our ski boots over to the fire. The house was immaculately clean and spacious. There were 2 fires burning in the common areas in evening hours and a fireplace in our room as well. We spent a pleasant evening enjoying a glass of wine with Susan fireside listening to stories of the house's history. Breakfast the next morning was a real treat -- a 3 course delight. We couldn't have been more pleased. Susan and Peter are one of the most welcoming couples we have ever encountered and are eager to make your stay perfect.

Room was clean, cozy, and comfortable. Hosts were warm and friendly. Common area was inviting. Food good. Coffee and tea available any time. Views excellent. We would definitely go back there.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Allen Suite-comfortable, roomy, and conveniently located on the first floor-definitely worthwhile paying a bit more for the larger rooms. The Innkeepers were lovely, and very accomodating with our special requests at breakfast. A great value, and we have stayed at the Pitcher Inn, which costs close to double the amount!

There are not enough great things to say about West Hill B&B! Its perfectly located just off the beaten path but close enough to many fabulous restaurants and places to visit like Ben & Jerry's, Magic Hat Brewery, numerous ski resorts and much much more. The inn keepers are so sweet and accommodating. You truly feel like you can relax and are well taken care of as a guest at the West Hill House. We enjoyed sledding and snow shoeing right out the front door of the house and also enjoyed time sitting by the fire places reading and playing board games. They also have free wireless internet for those people like myself who can't manage to completely turn off all connections to the outside world. I've stayed here twice already and plan on going back year after year! There is no need to find another B&B as this one continues to exceed my expectations.

This place is incredible. This was out second year and I don't even know where to begin to begin to explain how amazing this pace is. Susan and Peter were not only incredibly kind people, but they were always more than happy to accommodate us in any way they could. The entire surrounding area is fantastically secluded, but is a very short drive to stores and restaurants. We plan to take a trip there every January. Thanks Susan and Peter!

My husband and I decided to have a get-a-way weekend right after the holidays. West Hillls was the perfect choice. Close enough to town to enjoy the sites but far enough out to enjoy the country side. We went snow shoe-ing with borrowed shoes from West Hills, they were very knowledgeable about the area and gave great advice as to what to see and how to get around. The house is spectacular, the food was very good. The inn-keepers were wonderful. We are planning a trip back in the summer.

A very cozy and quiet place. Susan and Peter were FABULOUS hosts. They were very accommodating to our needs. (On a side note, Susan and Peter assisted in planning our one night romantic) Breakfast was excellent, as well as the conversation at the table. We would definitely go back. We would like to see what the area is like during the spring and/or fall.

We just completed a wonderful three night winter stay at the West Hill House. All of the good things written about this B&B are true. Great facility, beautiful setting, very attentive and friendly hosts, nice rooms, large gourmet breakfasts. An added plus was how quiet the rooms were. We had two couples and two rooms, and they were both very private and quiet (the Mountain Rm and the Wildflower Rm). This B&B has three separate common rooms, each very cozy and comfortable with a fireplace. This makes it very easy to find privacy or mix with others, as you wish. It is a very welcome place to return to after a day of skiing. I consider the location to be ideal…it was a 3 minute drive to Sugarbush, but yet it was located on a very low traffic country road that made it feel like you were far away from everything. Also, it’s an easy 15 minute drive to Mad River Glen. Crosscountry skiing and snowshoeing right across the street, on the golf course. There is a shuttle to skiing and many nice restaurants within a 5-10 minute drive. We look forward to returning for another stay on our next trip to central VT.

We called the inn to reserve our room just an hour and a half before arriving, but Peter and Susan treated us throughout our stay as if we'd booked months in advance. Besides being delightful hosts, they've clearly thought through all of the details and made sure everything a guest might need is within reach. We stayed only one night, which meant that our only meal was breakfast, but it was delicious and hearty--tea, juice, fresh fruit, pancakes, and pudding with oatmeal--just right to sustain us through a full morning on the ski slopes. We also greatly appreciated the ski reports that they printed and left on the breakfast table for us to review! The location is superb. The inn is within a mile of the Sugarbush base lodge, which is close enough for ultra convenience, but not so close that you feel like you're staying at the resort. The inn and accompanying red barn are cute. It appears that you'd also have easy access to The Long Trail for hiking in summer. I was delighted by the jacuzzi tub, which we made good use of to soothe our aching muscles from skiing. It would have been appropriate for the inn to disclose that they had two cats, but I'm glad they didn't because I might have shied away from staying there to due allergies. In the end, the cats didn't bother me at all (which might have been because we didn't have time to use the ample common areas).

We enjoyed our one night stay at this very cozy and comfortable Inn. Peter and Susan are gracious hosts, along with Snowball and Smokey, the 'real innkeepers'. The setting is secluded and quiet yet minutes away from skiing and dining. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. We look forward to returning to enjoy another season soon.

We drove for two days through the cold and rain but as soon as we crossed the Vermont line it began to snow, and basically didn't stop until we left for home. The West Hill House Bed and Breakfast caretakers, Peter and Susan MacLaren, meet us as if we were returning family (even though this was our first visit). Their attention to detail from start to finish was impeccable. Their kind and calm help when we lost our car keys at a local restaurant in the middle of a blizzard put us at ease, even during our most stressful moment. To list all of the details of the rooms would take more than the allotted space but here are a few... gas fire place for romance by fire light; bath, shower and steam room In-room, comfortable bed with lots of blankets and pillows and even a travel shaving cream in case I forgot my own. There are lots and lots of books. Pool table, games, views of the forest all the way around the house. An old foot pump organ and a modern CASIO keyboard helped stir up a little spontaneous singing with the guests. A cool spiral staircase got us up and down. Two real wood fire stoves and one very real looking gas stove warmed three of the common areas. Breakfasts were delicious and fun. Weather details were provided each morning. Peter’s wonderful Scottish accent added to a perfect blend of New England and European charm. A public courtesy van to the local ski resorts picked folks up at the front door and returned them home. We went cross country skiing at the Olie Glider Port (good for skate skiing) and Blueberry Lake (a winter wonderland with trails through the forest). Susan arranged for a massage and booked most of our meals. Expert advise was given to us by both Susan and Peter regarding restaurants, activities and sightseeing. The Tea Store, Mint resturant was our favorite, located at One Bridge Street, Waitsfield. All in all, the West Hill House Bed and Breakfast was a perfect home base for our winter outing.

We had an absolutely wonderful time at the West Hill House. We stayed in the Highland Room, which was small, but extremely cozy, clean, quiet, and well appointed. The rest of the inn is beautiful and the common areas are large and very comfortable. It is in a great central location for skiing and touring around central and northern Vermont. In addition to skiing, we traveled to Montpelier and Burlington during our stay, which were only about a half hour and an hour drive respectively. The real highlight of our stay however was the incredible hospitality of the innkeepers Susan and Peter. They made us feel right at home and were very helpful and accommodating in every respect. They were always around if you needed them, but were never the least bit intrusive. Susan's 3-course breakfasts were excellent! The inn's website gives a very accurate depiction of the inn and the rooms. We really wish we could have stayed much longer and hope to return again in the future. Highly recommended!

I just stayed for the first time at The West Hill House in Warren, VT this past weekend. It is a delightful Inn about 1 mile from Sugarbush ski resort. The Inn was fantastic, with clean, beautiful rooms, and lots of privacy. The Inn keepers, Peter and Susan, were very accomodating and friendly. This Inn is very quaint and comfortable, with the cozy VT feel that you look for in an Inn. I would highly recommend this Inn to other travelers heading to Warren, VT.

We stayed here before (different owners) - it is fabulous and I loved picking an apple every morning off the tree that hung over our porch!

What more can I say to add to the other reviews; this is surely the perfect bed and breakfast. We stayed with Peter and Susan for four nights and when we left it was like saying goodbye to old friends. Although the web site is excellent it cannot do this place justice and cannot show how friendly and helpful Peter and Susan are. Nothing is too much trouble and the breakfasts and cookies and fantastic. Like other reviewers we also ate in the Hydeaway Inn nearby. Great home cooked food at a reasonable price with a very friendly “English Pub” atmosphere. If we ever return to Vermont we would definitely stay again and have already recommended West Hill House to friends and family.

Our trip to Vermont was delightful and what made it special was the hospitality of our hostess, Susan and her husband Peter. Susan shared her culinary expertise in preparing wonderful meals in the morning and each day was a different menu. She did all the preparing of the meals, even baking fresh cookies every night for the Cookie Jar. Peter delivered all the courses with a smile and introduced us to a mix of cranberry juice with orange juice...yum! His Scottish accent was delightful and he was always there to lend a suggestion of scenic routes along with directions so we could capture the autumn colors and find some covered bridges. There are plenty of restaurants close by but we found the Hydeaway to be our favorite-good old home style cooking. Our suite was named the Stetson Room and it included a jacuzzi which I found a blessing to ease my aches and pains at the end of the day. Our room had lots of room for our clothes and our adjoining room we found relaxing where I could choose to read or watch a movie while my husband hit the hay early. The entire B&B was decorated with all kinds of comfy chairs and there were fireplaces in each room that were kept lit for our enjoyment. There was a wide selection of books and movies to choose from and something for everyone. I found the antique pump organ a real treat and even played a few tunes on it. The resident kitties, Smoky and Snowball greeted us and gave a little touch of home. The views were fantastic from anywhere you looked out the windows. We are already planning on taking a trip back there and being able to stay longer. Our 2-day visit was way too short. I am recommending this place to everyone I know!

Peter and Susan are excellent hosts who go out of their way to make your visit memorable. Listen to their suggestons for local ding and attractions and you will not be disaapointed. Room was great and the breakfast wonderful.

We felt welcome the moment we walked in the door. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. The food was outstanding. The innkeepers always have time for you, which makes you feel special.

We stayed here for our second anniversary and absolutely loved it. Peter and Susan are very friendly and helpful, and make you feel right at home. Our room was very clean and comfortable, as was our bathroom. There were many little details the innkeepers attended to, which I thought made our stay all the more enjoyable. They have a coffee/hot cocoa/tea station available 24/7, along with homemade cookies (all free of charge). They also have a large movie library and tv in each room. They invite you to hang out in the main living room as well which has a lovely woodstove and very comfortable chairs. There is a computer with internet access in the library if you want to check your email while you are there. They also have a ton of books and games if you decide to stay in for a night. The inn is very close by to lots of hiking trails, and Sugarbush Ski Area. The area is absolutely gorgeous. Breakfast is provided each morning and is a 3 course meal! You won't be disappointed if you stay here! We had a great time!

We were pleasantly surprised at this B&B, absolutely loved it - location, amenities, food, hosts - everything we could have wanted. This place is a gem! Great location. Everything went beyond my expectations. The room, the service, the extra rooms that you're free to use. The garden room has a great view of the gardens. I enjoyed walking all around the grounds with my camera in hand and then retreating to the living room by the fire with my computer to upload some of my fall foliage photos. The innkeepers make every guest feel so welcome. They think of those extra touches that make you feel special. I'd love to go back and stay soon!

We had a wonderful time when we stayed at the West Hill House B&B and only wish we could have stayed longer! Susan and Peter made us feel like family and were so helpful with anything and everything we needed or wanted. Their knowledge of local restaurants and attractions helped us get the most out of the limited time we had available to stay with them. Our accomodations included a beautifully decorated suite, 2 fireplaces, and a fantastic jacuzzi tub that completed the perfect end to the beautiful days we spent there. This is the fourth time that my husband and I have stayed at West Hill House since 2006. What keeps us going back is the friendleness and warmth of the hosts, Susan & Peter MacLaren, the lovely setting on the country road in the Green Mts. of Vermont, the comfy beds & ensuite jacuzzi, the hominess of the rooms, the delicious breakfasts prepared by Susan, and the atmosphere that makes it a "home away from home".

Wonderful hosts! The hosts are very friendly and helpful. They are very knowledgeable and happy to share what they know. The rooms are all cheerful and well appointed. The grounds are lovely and the setting is outstanding. The breakfasts are great and the cookie jar always has something.

We used West Hill House B&B as a central meeting place for a family reunion. It had the space we needed to relax and visit in a beautiful and quiet setting. Thanks, Pater and Susan.

We recently celebrated our 35th anniversary with a stay at West Hill House. We only had a few days, but we will definitely go back for a longer visit when we have time. We stayed in the lovely Paris Suite, and fully enjoyed all of the luxuries- the memory foam mattress, the jetted tub room, the space to spread out, and the private entrance, parking, and deck. The secluded location of the inn was so much nicer than many competitors who are right on highways or in towns. The gardens were visible from every window, and were charming at this time of year. We didn't get to meet Peter, who was away on business, but Susan met our every expectation and beyond, and was excellent company with a wide range of intelligent conversation. She also knew when to leave us on our own to enjoy the quiet moments. All-in-all, a lovely place to stay.

If you are looking for a homey, comfortable, and guest oriented B&B, look no more! From the fireplace and jacuzzi in my room, to the 5 star breakfasts served daily; to the candy dish in my room and always available coffee and cookies; my stay there will never be forgotten. Formerly being in the hospitality profession, I have a complete understanding of every guest experience being memorable. The West Hill House does that and more!!!

A terrific B&B--all we had hoped for and more. Peter and Susan are terrific hosts--knowledgeable and attentive. We truly felt like welcome guests in their home. The setting is breathtaking, the B&B cozy, with an enviable library and film library. Can't wait to come back.

Staying w/Peter and Susan was a treat. We knew from the reviews we had read that their home would be lovely and well-kept, and that the service and food would be excellent. However, I was so surprised to experience a couple working at something that they seem to do so "naturally." They work very hard, obviously, but they make everything seem like second nature to them. We wanted for nothing while we were there, except more time actually at the B&B, enjoying the fine, comfortable home, and more of Peter and Susan's company. They seemed to always be there to offer their assistance or companionship, but never in a remotely overbearning way. What a pleasure and we hope to visit again...for longer next time.

We had such a nice time here. The owners were so pleasant and helpful and also funny. Their attention to detail (treats in the room, advice about reservations for dinner, sympathy when my husband felt ill) was awesome. The location is central yet quiet and there are some really nice restaurants nearby, and great browsing for shopaholics.

Spent only one night and not enough time to enjoy the nice and relaxing place. Friendly hosts, extremely helpful. Good breakfast. Skiing was great at Sugarbush!!!

Absolutely lovely rooms, common areas, food, and location. We have stayed at many B/B throughout Vt, and this was one of the best.

My husband & I go to Warren, VT every year, and we always stay at West Hill House. Peter & Susan are the ultimate hosts - they are always friendly and extremely helpful. The breakfasts are always fantastic, the rooms very clean and comfortable, and we have found - with Peter & Susan's help - that there is so much to do in the area no matter what time of year.

We just returned and I felt so sad to leave. Peter and Susan are very accommodating. If you want to remain to yourselves, you can. For us, though, we enjoyed getting to know Peter and Susan and making ourselves "at home." For serious skiers, you can't beat the location. A minute away from the slopes, but you are away from the masses. A beautiful location! Peter helped us get a ski the valley pass, so with the pass in hand, we were on the slopes 5 minutes after the shuttle picked us up. We enjoyed the double jacuzzi tub in the Mountain Room afterwards. The bed was very comfortable. and everything was very clean. You do need to like cats, probably. But we love them, so it just added to the atmosphere. It truly felt like our home away from home.

I can say without hesitation that this is the nicest bed-and-breakfast I have yet to encounter. This place had everything you could want: secluded, picturesque location, charming and cozy (and deceptively large) inn, a big and comfortable king size bed, stove in bedroom, double Jacuzzi (at least in the Mountain Room), tea/coffee/hot chocolate round-the-clock and a gourmet breakfast served by most cheerful hosts. And that’s really not everything. We grabbed snowshoes from their barn during one afternoon and ventured out the back door onto the Catamount trail for a fabulous and refreshing winter hike. Later on we took out their high-speed sleds to have some fun on the golf course across the street. They also have an impressive movie collection, a billiards room, even a casually run ‘bar’ where you can charge wine by the glass (or beers) to your room. On top of all this Peter and Susan were extraordinarily nice and down-to-earth and made sure we had every comfort we needed, as well as any information about the area to help us pick activities, restaurants, stores, etc. We hope to be back many times in the future!

Everything about West Hill is fantastic. It's on a relatively secluded part of the Mountain near Warren. The Innkeepers, Peter and Susan, are very warm and friendly hosts. Susan even made a special breakfast to accomodate my diet (you have to try her cookies!). The rooms are fun and well-appointed. The jacuzzi felt nice after a day on the slopes. As a kind farewell gesture, Peter got up early, retrieved one of his "toys," and plowed the fresh snow so that I could get my car out of the driveway. We'll be coming back again soon!

Peter and Susan, the Inn Keepers at West Hill house were amazing! As is the house itself and it's location just off the beaten path. The inn keepers went well beyond my expectations to make my weekend there was memorable. They really made us feel at home by preparing foods that we had requested, ensuring that a hot fire was always burning, and by making great recommendations for activities and places to eat that seemed to fit our personalities. Most impressive was the fact the they memorized the names of everyone staying in the house and introduced guests to each other which made for a very comfortable atmosphere when using the common areas.

We had a great trip to slopes and Susan and Peter where charming and made us feel right at home.

My partner and I made a spur of the moment decision to drive to Mad River Glen midweek to ski the powder. I chose West Hill from a random list of lodgings and it turned out to be the perfect place. Peter and Susan made us feel very comfortable, the food was excellent, and my only complaint is that we could not stay longer!

My fiance and i started planning our trip last spring and from the beginning Susan and Peter have been great! I house is just beautiful and the food was wonderful. The did everything they could to make our wedding day special, and it exceded all of my expectations! I would defiantly pick their B&B if i had it all to do over again. Our stay at the West Hill House was just as phenomenal as it was when my wife and I first visited some 3 or 4 years ago. The room and its decor was warm, inviting and comfortable. Breakfast has always been a favorite of mine, especially when you get it somewhere else other than home. Susan, you are a marvelous cook and there is nothing that I could or would suggest to enhance your menu, preparation, presentation or flavor. Just keep doing what you are doing and I dare say, you won't have any dissatisfied guests

My boyfriend and I have stayed at the West Hill House twice so far and loved it both times. The innkeepers, Peter and Susan are two of the nicest and most accomodating people you will ever meet, the breakfasts are delicious and satisfying, and the house itself is cozy and comfortable. It is a very romantic place to stay and minutes from Sugarbush mountain. Our family are repeat guests at the West Hill House and will be again. This year even when the weather was not fit for skiing we had no regrets. Once again Peter and Susan's thoughtfulness and hospitality were beyond expectation. The Murphys

I was hesitant to bring my two kids, ages 12 and 14, to a b&b but they really enjoyed themselves. They had their own room and pretty much had the pool table to themselves for the weekend. The house is huge and you are welcome to all the games, books, and dvd's. There is a bar with beer, wine and soda, and coffee, tea and hot chocolate available free all day. Cookies or brownies were available as well. By the fireplace in the library, you can hang up your wet clothes/coats/gloves to try. In the end, the kids decided it was better than staying in a hotel!

Well, this was my second stay at West Hill House since November 08 and I must say I loved it just as much the second time around! I was a bit spoiled by the Paris Suite the first time, but the Allen Suite was a great room. Peter and Susan were excellent hosts again and I am looking forward to seeing them again when I return to West Hill House in late March.

Our family had a relaxing and fun get together at this warm and hospitable B & B. Each morning started with a full course breakfast, so scrumptuous I didn't mind loading up on the carbs. The innkeepers, Peter and Susan, were accomodating to our every need, and they went out of their way to ensure our visit was a superb experience. I highly recommend to anyone skiing SugarBush or visiting the Mad River Glen area of Vermont.

Visited the West Hill House last week. Great communication before and during our stay. Susan and Peter welcomed us to their home and treated us as best friends. Breakfast was awesome, especially the french toast and daily fresh fruits. I loved our steam shower in the Stetson Room. Thank you Susan and Peter for a most pleasant memorable stay. We will return.

Peter and Susan run a beautiful bed and breakfast located minutes from Sugarbush Mountain. The inn was spacious with many rooms to relax by a fire or play pool with friends. Peter and Susan were very friendly and helpful with recommendations to local restaurants. They had a binder full of sample menus from local restaurants. The breakfasts were the best I've ever had. Each morning consisted of a 2 course breakfast (not including coffee). I am a picky eater and they did a wonderful job of working with my dietary limitations.

The West Hill House is a beautiful facility, and Peter and Susan are the most gracious and accommodating of hosts. The breakfasts Susan cooks are outstanding. Our room was a little small, but equipped with a gas fireplace and a steam shower, both of which are very welcome after skiing or playing in the snow. The public rooms are very large and cozy, and Peter not only has a large library but also a large selection of DVD's for the big-screen TV. I heartily recommend staying here.

We have been enjoying the fall follage in Central Vermont over the past 6 years. We have stayed at several B & B's in the Waitsville/Warren area and, even though many are very nice, West Hill House is our B & B of choice! The Inn is exceptional in terms of the rooms and bathrooms! The innkeepers, Peter and Susan, are great hosts and go out of their way to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Be sure to try Peter's morning juice concoction - a mix of orange and cranberry juices! You can't go wrong if you choose West Hill House while sightseeing in central Vermont! We have stayed at many B and B around the US and Europe. West Hill is excellent in all respects. It is a destination all unto itself, a wonderful refuge of quiet, 19th century country house, and warm hospitality. We will be going back.

We stayed in the Bluebonnet Room, and it was cozy and lovely. It was a great romantic getaway for my girlfriend and I, and there are lots of little VT attractions around to keep you busy. Peter and Susan are great people, very personable. I enjoyed my stay and will surely be back for more in the future.

This was our 16th year at West Hill House and on the same weekend--Columbus Day Weekend. We have made many friends who come back each year and it is fun to visit with them. The cookies are incredible and the breakfasts are yummy. Both Peter & Susan are very hospitable Innkeepers and are becoming fast friends. The Stetson Room (our room) is extremely comfortable and convenient to the kitchen and the cookies. Peter & Susan are also accommodating with directions and suggesting fun trips and accepting travelers' suggestions for places to visit. Peter and Susan were the perfect hosts. The B and B is perfect - the rooms are so comfortable and everything is provided that you could possibly want. Susan is a fabulous cook - never the same breakfast twice in the week that we stayed. Peter and Susan's local knowledge is brilliant - they can help with day trips, places to visit, places to eat and of course where to take the best photos. The inn is so cosy and comfortable, the area of Warren is simply stunning and what a lovely back drop for small weddings. I loved it and hope to return.

Long time guest at this B&B. New owners in ('06) who cut corners/stint and it is obviously not as quality oriented as previously. Food downright awful: 6 grapes on a plate with a cookie? Nothing in the afternoon but packaged cookies. Owners ate fresh baked items while chatting with us and did not offer us anything. Breakfast only at 8:30, don't some folks on vacation like to eat a bit later? Heard owners squabbling. 2 cats that Peter strokes causing hair to be airborne, then picks up juice container with hair all over--not appetizing. Will not return. Shame as it is a lovely place and setting. Susan not particularly friendly and their heart doesn't seem to be in it. Miss you Dot and Eric!

We've stayed at many B & B's all over the US, and our stay at the West Hill House was probably our best overall experience ever. There are three huge, beautiful, and extremely comfortable common rooms available to guests, as well as extensive lovely grounds outside that include a gazebo, hammock, chairs, and a pond. There was a large TV plus hundreds of DVDs available to guests, scores of games, hundreds of books, unlimited free long-distance phone calls, home-made snacks, etc. etc.-- all indications of the attention to the details that contribute to a guest's comfort. Susan and Peter were the most gracious hosts, and it was easy to forget that we weren't personal friends that had come to visit them. Peter helped us plan our daily itineraries, and then printed out routing maps for us. We soon discovered that West Hill House was very well located for many interesting and delightful excursions! When we discovered that a tire on our car was low, Peter produced an air pump, and then phoned his regular service station and arranged for them to repair our tire right then. The breakfasts were wonderful. Susan incorporated my dietary restrictions as she planned each day's menu, so that I never felt deprived. What a wonderful overall experience!

We really enjoyed our 2 day stay. Both Peter & Susan were very welcoming and helpful, both by email before we went and whilst we were there - nothing was too much trouble. Susan very kindly was our taxi driver for one night so we could all enjoy a drink! We would definitely book again.

We've stayed at many guest houses and inns around the US and other countries, and we've never been as comfortable and indulged as at the West Hill House. Everything is clean, new, lovely to look at and super-comfortable. Susan and Peter are exceptionally welcoming hosts, attentive to guests' every need. For example, one day our toothpaste ran low, and a new tube appeared without us mentioning it. The breakfasts were fabulous, a different creative hot meal every morning, and the hosts sat down with us and encouraged conversation among the guests. On two days when we took an afternoon nap, we came back in the evening to discover that our bed had been made and our room fixed up a second time! We recommend this B&B especially for couples like us, those with one outdoorsy athlete and one non-athlete who prefers to stay cozy and relaxed. While one of us was gone all day on a Mad River rafting trip, the other one had a blissful day without leaving the West Hill grounds. There are 3 comfortable living rooms, one with huge TV and leather couches, one with refreshments, one with a pool table and a fireplace. Outdoors the grounds are huge, with a hammock, a gazebo, adirondack chairs by a pond, and other delightful places to rest. No other buildings are visible from the lovely lawns and gardens. Susan and Peter seem pleased to have guests around during the day. Their recommendations of restaurants and sights to visit were spot-on. We ended up feeling fond of Susan and Peter, as if they were our personal friends, enchanted with Warren and Waitsfield, and eager to go back to see the lovely West Hill house and grounds at every season of the year.

My husband and I were lucky to find this place, so close to Warren (a town not to be missed!) but away from the noise. On a quiet street where you could sleep with the windows open, it offered the relaxation that some B&B's in the middle of town can not. Our room was spacious, and the bathroom far exceeded the size of the usual cramped baths one finds in B&Bs. It had a jacuzzi roomy enought for two. Across the road is a beautiful beaver dam, a wonderful place to sit by and sip coffee in the morning. Susan and Peter were a delight to talk with. We were without a car, so they took us into town for dinner and picked us up later. West Hill HOuse is a wonderful place to stay. Our only lament? That we didn't stay for another night.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a weekend getaway and came across West Hill House , neither of us had been to Vermont so, to both of us it was an adventure, one which turned out to be truly enjoyable and especially memorable since he proposed. On our arrival we were very surprised that the place looked just like we had viewed it online, but so much more beautiful. the tranquility of the surroundings and the ambience of the place, creates an atmosphere of total rest and relaxation. We were met by the most charming and hospitable host and hostess , Susan and Peter would do all in their power to ensure your stay is unforgetable. Everything is wonderful about WHH especially the breakfast and we can't wait to visit again, we wouldn't change anything about the place and guarantee that your only regret, would be, that you must eventually leave.

I highly recommend West Hill House. My husband and I were married there in July of 2008 and I couldn't be more pleased with our stay. The grounds and gardens are absolutely gorgeous and the location is on a quiet country road, yet close to town and lots of activities including hiking, biking and skiing. We loved our private room and the many spacious common areas. I checked out the other guest rooms where my family members were staying and they were all great and unique. Breakfast was FANTASTIC each day. We particularly loved how local products were used when possible. Susan and Peter are great hosts and made us feel right at home and comfortable. I am SO GLAD that I chose West Hill House for my small wedding ceremony. I chose it based on their website and was so pleased with my choice as soon as we pulled up our car. We will DEFINITELY visit again. If you haven't been there yet, you must go!

The grounds are beautifully diverse in landscape and the location is private yet close to local Vermont attractions of which Peter and Susan were enthusiastic to share information and directions to. Breakfasts were to die for... nutritious, delicious and bountiful in portion. Susan was extremely accommodating to my dietary restrictions. My husband and I were married here June 7th, and it it was an amazing experience. Peter and Susan made our day perfect! The service and hospitality is exceptional and the Inn is gorgeous. We stayed in the Honeymoon in Paris suite and the bed was very comfortable and the tub is wonderful! We cannot wait to return!

West Hill House is very beautiful in that special old-world-charm way, with enough common rooms for many accomodations. The grounds feel as though you're walking in a Thomas Kinkade painting come to life--so relaxing. We really enjoyed hosts Peter & Susan and their impeccable service!

We first stayed at West Hill in Sept 07 and thoroughly enjoyed our time. Not only is Vermont a beautiful and friendly state to visit, West Hill is an excellent B&B. Peter and Susan are great hosts, always happy to help with local information and ideas. West Hill is in a tranquil setting half way up a mountain, but is close enough to towns, attractions and restaurants. The rooms are perfect - well furnished, clean and well maintained. Breakfast each morning is a delight and Susan cooks everything fresh and comes up with something different each day. If the weather is bad, there is plenty of lounge space at West Hill with a games room as well. We went back to stay in May 08 and will always stay there when we visit Vermont.

It was another great stay with Susan and Peter in my favourite room, Wildflower. Each day started in the beautiful setting ,a great view out the window (I just love to look at that red barn each morning). After one of Susan's great breakfasts, it was off to explore Vermont, then back to WHH for a soak in the jacuzzi bath and a good night's sleep-- only to be able to do it all again the next day.

I went with a couple of girlfriends for a weekend get-away to stitch and shop. This is a great place to stay. Your hosts are great and it does not take long to get anywhere you want to go.

We spent two very pleasant days at West Hill House. The location is fantastic, 2 minutes from Sugarbush, but away from all the hubbub. The House is picture perfect and comfy, fireplaces everywhere, and good lounging spaces. I can only imagine it is even better in summer with full foliage. Peter & Sue were very friendly hosts, and gave us excellent restaurant advice. Their local knowledge was invaluable in helping us plan our activities. We can't wait to return.

My husband and I chose the West Hill House for our last minute elopement. Peter and Susan made it a day we will never forget. They did such a great job with every little detail, right down the the AMAZING pictures that they took of our special day. The room was warm and inviting, as were the kitties! Highly recommended! Peter and Susan were very accommodating on Easter morning, letting us postpone our breakfast so we could go to the morning service on the mountain. An elopement and an engagement this weekend at the table! So romantic!

We loved our first B&B experience, exceeded our expectations in every way. We loved staying at the Garden Room with private entrance, awesome bathroom with large steam shower and a tub, too bad we only stayed 2 nights. Breakfast was awesome, the setting intimate and romantic and our every need was anticipated. We enjoyed our first skiing lesson and couldn't wait to get back to "the house" after dinner. We were surpised what great conversation we had not only with Peter and Susan but also all the other friendly guests. We couldn't wait to tell all our friends and will defnitely be back to visit and can't wait to see beautiful Vermont in all seasons.
