If you're staying in the Mad Valley, you really must stay at the 1824 house. We recently stayed two nights at the 1824 House, and our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. The young innkeeper, Emily, welcomed us with fresh baked cookies and a cheerful smile. The room was tastefully appointed (unlike many places, it didn't feel like Grandma's house), quiet, and clean. We at dinner both nights at the on-site restaurant, The Barn Door. If you stay here, you have to eat here (the steak is amazing). Emily's breakfasts were as good as The Barn Door's dinners. She was also very responsive to our dietary restrictions. We couldn't have been more pleased!
