Taraden

My two daughters and I enjoyed a weekend at Taraden in Sept. 2010 and were overwhelmed with the hospitality. Bob and Nan have anticipated their guests' needs in the most gracious way. The room and bath were comfortable and spotless, the breakfast fit for royalty, and the grounds a delight to see. Definitely a place to return to!

We spent four nights at Taraden in early August and thoroughly enjoyed it. Nan and Bob are wonderful hosts and made us feel very much at home. We stayed in the West Wing, which has one main and one smaller bedroom and a bathroom complete with a deep claw-foot bathtub, separate enclosed shower and all the amenities. Breakfast in the glass-enclosed sunroom affords a pastoral view over a pond and beyond the barns to a hillside where American Cream draft horses graze. The sumptuous breakfast started with an overflowing cup of fresh fruit and might include an omelet, fresh baked cornbread, pancakes with fruit inside, Irish oatmeal, or other selections and Bob's homemade apple butter. It was enough food to last me all day. Bob and Nan help support the local art scene and while we were there they were completing plans for the first North Bennington Plein Air competition to be held September 8-12. Taraden is also next door to the historic Park-McCullogh House, a Victorian mansion that offers tours and a very nice Mile-Around Woods trail.

This B&B is in rare company-- among the very best we have chosen for our 'getaways' The hosts, Bob & Nan, very personable, the room comfortable and many amenities, the site among the most tranquil you'll find. And, lest we forget, the breakfasts superb in a superb setting. Dan & Terri

We made a last minute change to turn our college visit into a vacation, and happened upon Taraden. Our hosts, Nan and Bob couldn't have been nicer, and the property is spectacular. Have never had a more perfect breakfast!

This tranquil setting is just perfect for the traveler who enjoys a country gentleman's estate, with gourmet breakfasts, clean, comfy accommodations and peaceful settings.

This is a real treat- so beautiful-so serene, yet close to many activities. Our hosts were the best and accommodating in every way! Try it! You'll love it!

My wife and I had a delightful visit in late June, staying in the Cottage. It was a perfect size, had a great bath/shower, a small deck, a wonderfully comfortable bed with luxury sheets, and everything just felt so cozy. We both slept like babies. Nan and Bob gave us two delicious breadfasts. The fruit cup by itself is plenty, but they treated us to incredible corn bread the first morning (with honey) and a moist banana bread the next morning. And that does NOT include the great omelet and french toast. The scenery is amazing off the breakfast room, with a pond full of ducks, muskrats and fish. The horses grazing on the hill beyond the barns look like a postcard setting. But what made us feel so great was the effort Nan and Bob put into making us feel like honored guests. They were both so warm and friendly and it was obvious they wanted us to enjoy our stay. We did!!

We stayed at the wonderful Taraden for 3 nights in May 2007. We came from the UK to visit our daughter and had stayed at 2 other B&Bs before we came upon this peaceful home. We were made most welcome. In fact, when we left, we felt we were leaving behind very good friends! We most certainly will be back.

We stayed here for 3 days and this was one of, if not the best B & B that we have ever stayed at. The location is scenic Vermont, the grounds (20 acres) are peaceful, tranquil and picturesque. The home is spacious as is each of the 3 suites, each with a full bath. We stayed in the Night pasture suite and our daughter & son-in law stayed in the West Wing. We also toured the Cottage suite which is a separate bldg adjacent to the main home and perfect for a honeymooning couple (or any other couple for that matter). All the suites are newly renovated in soft colors and modern baths. This is a new B & B, (09/06) in a 100 year old home with large open airy rooms, that we felt comfortable in from the moment we walked thru the door. The owners greeted us and made us feel welcome instantly. They provide a full breakfast in the large glass sunroom with views overlooking a small pond and the many birch & crabapple trees, not to mention the horses in the field beyond the barns. The breakfast included a heaping bowl of fresh fruit, eggs, bacon or sausage, and other scrumptious items, excellent ! We agreed that we will return to check on what they have done with the property in the future. We wish them good luck !
