Best and most sophisticated dinning in all of Southern VT. Expensive but worth it. The same chef has been there for over 30 years.

We loved our stay at the Four Columns. If you are looking for a quaint, beautiful place to stay in Southeast Vermont, you should stay (and dine) at the Four Columns!

The location in Newfane VT is great; a very pretty New England Village. Tour the courthouse and church. Chat with locals who go back generations and are very friendly. The standard rooms are nice, although a little pricey; the suites are way overpriced. This is partially compensated for by a great full breakfast that lasted us through lunch. We enjoyed dinner one night and ate in Brattleboro otherwise. The entree prices are around $35 , but given that there are relatively few diners I'm sure that is necessary to support the dining room. We were asked when we made reservations and when we checked in if our stay was for a special occasion. It was - our 46th anniversary. It's not a big deal, but we were surprised that there wasn't at least a commemorative glass of wine. The sightseeing in southern VT is spectacular, especially if you like exploring back roads. Hildene, Robert Todd Lincoln's home, is a must. Right in the village there is a Country Store with a good book selection and all kinds of interesting things. All in all, a very nice place to go.

Stayed in a suite in the main house and the room was beautiful with a two sided fireplace. Ate both nights in their dining room and one meal was a chef's tasting. The food was excellent as was the service.

I booked this room at the very last minute--the day before our arrival. It was a last-minute getaway for my boyfriend and me before his deployment overseas. Naturally, I wanted it to be romantic (i.e., fireplace, large bathtub, etc.) and had several questions prior to booking, all of which Debbie had so much patience in answering. Complimentary early check-in was offered when I said that we were trying to beat an impending snow storm. Bruce gave us a tour when we arrived along with a brief history of the inn and the property, and he made himself accessible while providing the utmost privacy. The room was AMAZING (understatement) with a double-sided fireplace and spacious jacuzzi tub fit for two. Not only did the Bruce and Debbie meet our expectations, but the entire experience far exceeded our expectations on every level. We stayed for just one night but very much look forward to returning when my boyfriend returns home safely. Thank you!

My husband and I spend three mid-week nights at the Four Columns Inn, and we were so please with our stay. We arrived in the middle of a blizzard, and the Inn was warm, ready and waiting for us. Deb & Bruce are some of the most down to earth inn keepers you'll ever meet. We enjoyed a Chef's Tasting dinner one night and a regular dinner another night. Both meals prepared by Chef Park were exquisite with unique foods and flavors. Our server, Bob, was super friendly and paid great attention to detail, making sure our dining experience was perfect. We stayed in suite 12, a roomy and beautiful suite. The double sided fireplace was a nice cozy feature that we loved during our snowy Winter stay. There are plenty of beautiful little towns and amazing views to see nearby, or you can enjoy a lovely snowed-in day like we did, drinking fresh warm coffee by the living room fire. We can't wait to visit the Four Columns Inn again during the Summer for a whole new experience.

My partner and I stayed at the Four Columns Inn this past week and had an amazing time. It was relaxing and romantic. The service is incredible as is the food at their fantastic restaurant. The entire location was clean and beautiful. Not far from downtown Brattleboro as well and Manchester for shopping. It's a very quaint and lovely area. I highly recommend The Four Columns Inn for a relaxing and romantic getaway!

After a beautiful drive across New England in the late autumn, we spent the night at the Four Column Inn. We enjoyed the ambiance and the staff and our comfortable room. As we say in Maine, this was the finest kind of B&B.

First vacation in 6 years. Only had three nights set aside (takes me a week to unwind). I was mellow in two hours.

We stayed at this Inn on our fall journey thru New England and found a hidden gem in a small country town. The room was very comfortable but could have had a Tv for nighttime viewing. Food was excellent and prepared just perfectly. Breakfast was superb with all you could ask for in food and quality of food. Debbie and Bruce make you feel at home and were at your beck and call. Will definitely return.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for our Fifth Anniversary in October. The property was absolutely gorgeous. There's a mountain directly behind the inn, and a stream. We had a bit of a mix up with the package deals, being that they expired before our trip. But the owners were kind enough to work something out with us. Upon arrival, they were very friendly and continued to be so throughout the stay. The complimentary breakfast was delicious. It consisted of home made breads, Vermont cheddar cheese, fresh squeezed orange juice, and their very own maple granola...along with other selections. The dinner was beyond our expectations, though a bit pricey for those looking to keep to a budget. My only complaint would be that our room did not have a television. I wasn't feeling well during our stay, and it would have been nice to cuddle up next to the fire and fall asleep while watching a movie. Overall, I would definitely recommend this inn. One of the best I've been to.

Warm, helpful and friendly innkeepers - Bruce & Debbie - and staff. Excellent food - both breakfasts and dinner (Chef Greg is a genius!).

the breakfeast was great you are able to purchase the granola to take home it is made on the premises a bit pricey but worth it. The fresh fruit was fantastic a real treat in october. The scones were yummy and the innkeeper was kind enough to give us the recipe. They also had a cd player with a great cd for insomniacs which I loved they generally have some that patrons can purchase they were out but kindly told me how to find it online. I definetly will go back very soon.

May 2010 - My husband and I stayed 2 nights to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. The rooms and grounds are just as shown in photos on their website. I gave a 4 on value because it was a rare splurge for us to spend this much so I don't really have anything to compare to for value. However, the attention to detail was evident everywhere. They offer a very generous breakfast with many lovely touches - fresh squeezed orange juice, local products, beautiful china and glassware, and our preference - separate dining tables. We ate dinner in the restaurant one night and enjoyed it - a rather small menu but a good variety. (I recommend staying away from Rick's Tavern down the road - terrible food.) We stayed in room 18 and enjoyed the tasteful decor and comfortable furnishings. I rated the cleanliness a 4 since I saw a few cobwebs and a spot on the white bedspread, but otherwise everything seemed very clean. The gardens at the inn are outstanding and a fantastic creek at the rear of the property had chairs to sit and relax. They had an in-ground pool but it had just been opened and didn't appear ready to use. We only met the innkeepers briefly at breakfast time, but we didn't really need anything so that was fine. The inn had only a few guests that weekend so hard to know if full capacity would change anything. Nevertheless, we had a lovely time and enjoyed this peaceful small-town setting. I would stay there again.
