Centerpiece of the quiet village of Hyde Park just 9 miles north of Stowe on Vermont Route 100, the recently restored 1893 Governor's Mansion offers the modern comforts with the gracious elegance of a earlier time. Period furnishings. Romantic bedroom fireplaces. Beautiful mountain views. Luxurious claw-foot tubs. Hot chocolate or warm cider at bedtime. Romance and elopement specials. Jane Austen weekends; a place she's love. In-room high-speed internet & WiFi. Free movie library. Full English afternoon tea. Fresh flowers and freshly-baked cookies. It's worth the trip, from anywhere - even the Twenty-First Century.
The dark wallpaper and rich woodwork give this large room a masculine feel, rightly so as it was the governor's bedroom. It looks out across the back yard with a view of the mountains. It has a queen-sized sleigh bed, gas fireplace, and private bath with the original marble sink and a whirlpool tub. Highspeed internet, Cable TV/VCR/DVD. Can connect with the Pink Room.
This fully-handicapped accessible room in the new wing has its own entrance through a private garden. A ramp gives access to the first floor of the inn. It has a queen-sized bed, full private bathroom tub and shower, a large sun deck, and a TV with cable connection, VCR and DVD. A telephone is available.
A queen-sized bed, fireplace, private bath, high-speed internet, cable TV/VCR/DVD. Check-in and Check-out times are very flexible.

My husband and I decided to have a small, intimate wedding at the Governor’s House in Hyde Park and we are so happy that we did. The house itself was clean, well maintained, and beautiful. The landscaping was welcoming and the lawn a relaxing place where our families and friends could relax and enjoy each other’s company. Suzanne, the innkeeper, took care of most of the details of our wedding and was very efficient with a thoughtful attention to detail. The food was fresh and delicious and arranged beautifully on the dining room table. The cake was simple yet elegant and very tasty. Having our wedding at the Governor’s House was easy, inexpensive and memorable.

Attended family reunion associated with a 50th wedding anniversary. Wanted to be close to everyone yet have privacy. Inn was beautiful--we stayed in the former governor's office. Lovely room, furniture, and very comfortable chairs and bed. Breakfast was yummy, and Suzanne gave us some good hints about things to do in the area. Our stay at the Governor's House was a definite highlight of our trip!

The inn keeper has thought of everything. The entire house is beautiful and inviting. You will get the BEST night's sleep as the rooms are so comfortable and the bedding exquisite. The innkeeper is at the ready to assist you in planning your day whether you're staying in or going out (read, watch movies, play games, hike, ski, shop). I can't wait to go back!

After staying at The Governor's mansion for three days & two nights I can recommend with confidence. This inn is a unique opportunity to step into history but enjoy modern conveniences. I was impressed by the attention the innkeeper, Suzanne, paid to the smallest detail to make my stay comfortable & enjoyable. The shelves of movies & selection of books made me want to stay longer than my schedule permitted. My room & bath were very clean, the food was delicious & the views of the mountains were beautiful.

My fiance and I stayed in the English room over a long weekend in January. The inn is beautifully restored and was the perfect spot for a winter weekend escape. The breakfast was delicious, especially the muffins (the innkeeper was kind of enough to pack up extras for our long drive home). The inn's library was a great spot to sip wine and relax after two days of skiing at both Stowe and Smugglers Notch. We look forward to returning again soon.

My daughter had her wedding and reception here for a small group of family and friends. Everything was perfect and the host, Suzanne Boden, was most helpful to my daughter in planning and execution of her special day. A wonderful inn, elegant and historic. The dinner was delicious.

I love this place. I've been there twice, once with my parents and once with my girlfriend, and it was great both times. It's in a beautiful part of Vermont, and the house itself is gorgeous too. All the rooms are big and stocked with bathrobes and amenities more like a hotel than a B&B. And the innkeeper is very attentive - she even brought us tea in our room when we checked in. Definitely hope to make it back there again.

I loved the charm of the rooms in this inn. It was clear that the innkeeper poured her creative energy into them and added special touches to each one. The bed was so wide and comfortable, my husband and I never wanted to leave it! We had delicious meals served to us and had a vast library of books, games and movies to keep us entertained, as well as nearby nature trails. The innkeeper paid us special attention that is so far unmatched by other b and b's I've stayed in. If you're pulling through Vermont this luxurious and cozy inn is definitely worth a stop.

I always go the bed and breakfast route when traveling and the Governor's House is a great find! It has the coziness of a b&b but the cleanliness and quality of a hotel. From the rooms to the food, no detail has been ignored, which makes for a very pampered experience. The Governor's House really made an impression on me and I will definitely come back.
