This bed and breakfast was wonderful. The owner Suzie is such a sweet person and amazing cook! This old Victorian is comfortable and welcoming. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this place to anyone staying in the area. Also they have really good English tea!

    Wasn't prepared

I stayed in the "Room with a View." The room itself was fine, and I knew this particular room had a shared bathroom, but I wasn't prepared for the fact that the bathroom was some distance away on another floor, and that it was in fact shared with the customers of the gift shop and tea room. It was really a public restroom. To balance out my review, Suzy told me that it was cleaned at the end of each day, and the shower was nice. It also bothered me that my room did not have a lock on the door, particularly since there was nothing to prevent customers from wandering up the stairs to the guest rooms. Consequently, I was really conscious of not leaving anything of value in the room when I was not there during the shop hours. In addition, if I had not known the other guests who were staying there at the time, I would have felt uneasy sleeping in an unlocked room as a single woman. I just think people should know these things ahead of staying here, which is why I rated the room and value below average. My review is only about this particular room. I know there is also a nice suite with a private bath, and I would not hesitate to stay there. Suzy was pleasant, the room was quiet, and the food was fine, so I have no other issues with this B&B.

    Innkeeper Response
Unfortunately there is no where on this site to explain the bath locations. However, The bath is clean thoroughly at the end of the business day. We've found that most of our guests are away during the day anyway so it has never been a problem. As for the lock on the door, I only wish the guest had asked me for a secure lock up for her valuables as I could have provided that for her. As well as a B&B this is my home. We are a small country B&B with only three rooms, not a large chain hotel. I like to think of you as my personal guest in my home and will do anything I can to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

When we booked our room at the Rose Arbour we were called and told that they were completely filled and could not accomodate us. The innkeeper came up with several options including stay at another B&B in the area or at another location that they owned. We decided to stay at another B&B in the area and were very pleased. We hope to come back to actually stay at the Rose Arbour next time since they were very helpful in accomodating us with the issue that occured.

My husband and I stayed at Rose Arbour for 1 night on our whirlwind winter tour of Vermont. We arrived late and somewhat unexpected due to internet issues, but the hostess was extremely welcoming and accommodating considering our circumstances. A must-stay if you are looking for a quaint quiet evening with your loved one. He was unsure of the shared bathroom and common room tv at first (first B&B experience for him!), but it wasn't a big issue or deal-breaker at all once we got there. Breakfast was delicious with an excellent cup of tea to start the day, over looking the yard with dozens of varieties of birds looking for their winter breakfast as well.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for two nights while skiing at a nearby mountain. It's a great old house in a nice quiet little village, perfect for recovering after a day on the slopes!
