Meadowlark Inn

Absolutely a phenomenal experience. Breakfast was outstanding every morning. The room was rusticly charming, spacious and comfortable. The service was exceptional-warm and friendly and helpful. I highly recommend the Meadowlark Inn and wish I had more reason to be in the area in to order to stay!

Extremely welcoming, beautiful, comfortable and cozy, with excellent food. Highly recommend it. It is also very convenient for travelers, on a country road very near Route 91.

Stayed here with my parents over a long weekend in the fall. Lucia and Debbie could not have been more hospitable. Their historic B&B is on a sweet quiet street in a beautiful setting with a gorgeous view. They've done an amazing job with the property. Both buildings and grounds are full of character and charm and are loving and artfully maintained. Debbie and Lucia are warm, welcoming attentive hosts who care about every detail. The breakfast was fabulous. The location is great -- close to Brattleboro and other attractions in Vermont. I've stayed at a lot of B&Bs over the years and this is definitely among my favorites. I'd return in a heartbeat, and hope to do so.

We have been to the Meadowlark 3 times so far.This is our favorite get a way. It really doesn't get any better than the Meadowlark!

What a treat to stay at the Meadowlark. Luxurious king size bed, jacuzzi tub, long hikes, and trips to town. Breakfast was outstanding. Lucia & Deb were so warm and welcoming. Looking forward to our next stay.

We try to visit at least once a year and have been to the Meadowlark Inn during each of the seasons! Of all the B&Bs we have visited, Meadowlark Inn is the only one we have returned to and stayed more than one time. Lucia and Deb asked if we were disappointed when we booked our last visit as the room we usually reserve had already been booked- my response was "No! the room didn't matter, we were coming for the wonderful breakfast!"

As always the Meadowlark draws my sister and I back to the hills of Vermont. Love the extra special breakfasts and the Innkeepers make you feel like you belong. Been coming here for ten years, twice a year and will continue to do so.

We were only in VT for one day but we were glad we chose Meadowlark. The innkeepers were wonderful, friendly and informative without being intrusive. We have a little trouble with the internet but we had our own solution. Breakfast was great.

Wonderful location in a very rural setting with great views, yet just 2 miles out of town. The house and bedroom were spotless and well appointed with nice extras - iPod docking station, robes, wine glasses. The home and carriage house were both very picturesque, and Deb & Lucia were gracious hosts who allowed us to check in early, and offered suggestions for activities. Would definitely return.

The Meadowlark Inn is in a beautiful setting. The property is lovely and well maintained. Our hosts were welcoming, cheerful and provided excellent breakfasts. Our room was smaller and the bed and bedding plainer than we expected. We saw other rooms which were much nicer. Our advise would be to book long enough in advance to have a choice of rooms. We would stay again.

We celbrated our first anniversary as a couple at the Meadowlark Inn in Brattleboro. The breakfasts were outstanding, as were the accomdations. There's nothing like a jacuzzi tub for two in your room for relaxing. It's located in a great area, not a far drive to town, but with the feeling that you are out in the country. Thanks to Lucia, we were able to get into Peter Havens for dinner, also a wonderful experience. I highly recommend this for a special weekend get away.

My wife and I have been staying at B&Bs nationwide for some 50 years. The Meadowlark is as good as it gets: exemplary service and accommodations, great location in a delightful corner of Vermon, great view at breakfast, supremely pleasant in all respects.

We stayed at the Meadowlark Inn last weekend. Lucia and Deborah were warm and welcoming. The food was healthy and delicious! The property is lovely and it was very clear how hard Lucia and Deborah work to make the Inn a wonderful place to stay. We could not ask for better accommodations and we will be returning for another stay in the six months.

Lucia and Deborah made us so welcome we were sorry to leave. A lovely home from home with excellent breakfasts and treats for afternoon tea. You will not be disappointed. We stayed for two nights as part of a three week road trip around New England and this ranks as one of the best.

We had a delightful weekend, wonderful breakfasts and a warm atmosphere in a home away from home. Lucia and Deb gave us great recommendations on where to go in town, where to hike and were generous of their time talking with us. I would return in a heartbeat!

Deb and Lucia are such warm and welcoming hosts, and the inn is quintessential Vermont, with its beautiful pastoral setting just minutes from town. Oh, and their breakfasts are out of this world! We stay here every time we are in Brattleboro!

We had a lovely stay in a Japanese-themed room in the Meadowlark Inn in mid-Sept 2011 (before leaf season begins) and were the only guests at this time. You enter the edge of the town and drive a little ways down a country road that carries you away from the cares of the world to the beautiful, quiet country setting. I believe the guest rooms are all located in a barn which has been beautifully renovated. Our bedroom with bath area was very spacious and well-maintained. There was a common "Great Room" with fireplace and hand-painted folk art murals. What we enjoyed the most about the room was a very large window which overlooked the beautiful rolling hills of Vermont. There was a pasture with cows which met the Meadowlark Inn property -- and just added to bucolic feel. For our breakfast we sat in a rounded alcove with bay windows! Lucia was very helpful with getting us settled in and preparing a perfect breakfast: home-made pancakes with, of course, local maple syrup, great ham and tasty fresh fruit. At night we had dinner at a tiny, friendly restaurant: 3 Stones (Mexican Mayan food) in Brattleboro. This is a great little town to walk around. Wish we could have stayed longer here.

The Meadowlark was one of our stops on our honeymoon and one of our very favorites. Both Deb and Lucia took great care of us with a warm welcome, FANTASTIC room, delicious breakfast, dinner recommendations, and a perfect atmosphere. Their home was a beautiful reprieve from the chaos of the east coast. Thank you so much!!

I really liked the warmth of this home and very clean. The ladies are very nice. The food is very good as well. The views are breathtaking.

Lovely stay at the Meadowlark. It is a beautiful guest house, hospitality was excellent (we were upgraded for free as it was a quiet week) and the breakfast was fantastic!

Our three night stay was very relaxing and we loved waking up to the moo of cows. Lucia and Deborah are so accommodating and so easy to talk to that we felt like we had known them for years. The breakfasts are to die for!! Hoping that we can make a second visit to Brattleboro.

The house and land were gorgeous, and picturesque. The breakfast was amazing, and she even wrapped up the muffins so we could take them with us for lunch. Lucia upgraded us into a bigger room with a King bed for free, which was lovely of her (it was our one year wedding anniversary). Even though we paid for the cheapest room, it was still $168 after taxes, which I think is really steep for one night! That is my only complaint, the cost. Everything else was amazing, and I would definitely go back if I felt we could afford it.

We are so glad these lovely folks celebrated their first anniversary with us and appreciate the many positive comments about our home, the fabulous views and our multicourse breakfasts. We upgraded them as we knew they were celebrating a very special occasion in their lives. We also know from industry and local standards that our room prices are fair and are honestly communicated on our website and at the time of booking. Realizing the economic situation has been difficult for everyone we have intentionally not increased our prices in the past three years. The reality is the cost of maintaining this 140 plus year property, real estate taxes and mortgage allow us to take a combined salary that does not exceed 4 figures even in a very good year and sometimes much less. It is a labor of love to be sure! What keeps us going is that we really enjoy sharing this beautiful place with those traveling from near and far and find Helen Keller's quote "Hospitality is one form of worship" the best description of this very meaningful work.

We could not have asked for a more relaxing and pleasant way to end our vacation in New England. The food was superb, the rooms were great and the hospitality was outstanding. I would recommend the Meadowlark to anyone traveling in the area.

The Meadowlark Inn was delightful and cozy, a friendly spot with lovely views, and a great location just outside of Brattleboro. Breakfast was absolutely delicious.

Lucia and Deb made staying at the Meadowlark Inn the best B&B experience that I have ever had. The entire inn is beautifully decorated and immaculate. They cook exactly what you want but beyond your expectations as the breakfast was delicious. Afternoon snack was great too! The grounds are beautiful with an amazing view of the Vermont mountains. The puppies were friendly and wonderful and I enjoyed them so much now that my dog is gone. I felt really warm and comfortable and at home! They are amazing, kind, and wonderful women. I would recommend the Meadowlark Inn to everyone!

Everything you could ask for in a B&B - amazing room, delicious gourmet breakfasts each day, an amazing view of the mountains of Vermont, quiet, relaxing, and amenities not listed on the site. All this, and playful puppies, too! We had a wonderful stay and are planning to make a trip to the Meadowlark Inn an annual event.

To qualify my opinion, I have stayed in a large number of Bed & Breakfasts over the years all across the New England area. The uniqueness of B&Bs is what makes them special. Rarely have I stayed at the same place twice over the years. That rarity is The Meadowlark Inn of Brattleboro, VT. The rooms are perfectly quaint with just enough touch of modern accoutrements. The views and landscape is amazing. The service is impeccable and the food is the very best of any B&B I have visited. If you are visiting the area for festivals or family or even business, the location of The Meadowlark Inn is perfect. It is just far enough away from highways and city life, but only a couple of minutes from the downtown Brattleboro area. If you like to play golf, the Inn backs up to the Brattleboro Country Club. The owners, Lucia & Deborah, are amazing people. Even with all of the work of running the Inn, they take the time to make sure you are enjoying your stay. They are wonderfully engaging and are simply the cherry on this Bed & Breakfast sundae. Whether for Winter, Summer, Spring, or Fall, The Meadowlark Inn will be well worth the investment. Your body and mind will love you for it.

From the moment we were welcomed by our hosts, I knew this would be a special place. The room (Kyoto) was beautiful. The location was perfect - quiet and in the country, but close enough to town and to where we wanted to explore. At the end of the day, it was nice to return to the Inn and sit on the large porch (where we had wifi reception). The breakfasts -- I am not sure if I ever have had a better one in an Inn. And there was even a geocache just down the road.

Lucia and Deb have created a wonderful environment soothing to both body and soul. They are at once intimate and outgoing, elegant and homey with superlative breakfasts, wonderfully relaxing, spotlessly clean rooms, the exact retreat we needed after a series of particularly stressful days. Do yourself a huge favor and stay here.

Very nice stay at Meadowlark. Innkeepers were very nice and helpful, breakfast was fabulous. Room (Jacuzzi room) was nice but smaller than expected. No closet or place to put bags in room - made for a lot of stepping over stuff. Bathroom in our room lacked real door - consider that if privacy is important to you. Would have liked if there were tea, coffee, hot water available in common area off hours. Came back one night desperate for cup of tea, but could not be had. All that said, was a lovely place and very reasonable, jacuzzi was terrific.

An oasis in the the midst of the 21st century. We felt pampered and we loved the puppies! Best waffles east of the Mississippi.

We've been visiting the Meadowlark Inn for my birthday for the past 6 years. I look forward to it every year. Deb and Lucia are so warm and inviting. And those breakfasts...wow! My birthday is during this winter so we are always greeted by the beautiful (but cold!) VT snow, quickly followed by the cozy fireplace in the carriage house. We've stayed in 5 out of the 8 rooms and each one of them has been wonderful. We love to spend time in Brattleboro so it's perfect that it's less than a 5 minute ride down the road (Don't miss the Coop and Mocha Joe's - my favorites!). I would very highly recommend the Meadowlark. We've stayed in a lot of B&B's and this one by far is the best!

Stayed at Meadowlark Inn overnight to attend workshop the next day. Inn Keepers were welcoming with hot tea and cookies upon my arrival. A Yummy breakfast the next morning. Two sweet puppies are a recent addition and warmed my heart.

The breakfasts were delicious and the hospitality was wonderful. The room was beautiful, the bed was very comfortable, and the jacuzzi in the room was so relaxing. It was a terrific place to stay and we would highly recommend the Meadowlark Inn.

We stayed at the Meadowlark a couple years back for a wedding. We loved it so much we decided to go back for a long weekend getaway. This visit was just as lovely and relaxing as our first visit! The innkeepers, Deb and Lucia, are such gracious hosts. We got stuck in bad weather driving up but they insisted that we take our time and not worry about getting there too late. We arrived at almost 11 at night and they greeted us warmly and offered us hot tea and cider! The breakfast is SO amazing!!! The grounds are beautiful. We went ice skating on the pond, snow shoeing around the meadow, and enjoyed delicious lunches and dinners in town. We can't wait for our next visit!

We chose the Meadowlark Inn for two reasons -- Brattleboro VT was our destination and we sought a glbt-friendly inn. The gracious and well-maintained property, gourmet breakfasts, and meticulously clean room delighted us. We will return!

This was my first time staying at the Meadowlark, and it was wonderful! We were upgraded to a larger room for free because of a newborn next to our reserved room without even asking. I can't wait to return for another (hopefully longer) stay.

The innkeepers cater to all of your needs. Homemade cookies and beautiful holiday decorations adorned the living space. Our room was clean, bright, and the bed was very comfortable. I brought my school-age daughter, and they offered her games to play and hot chocolate with her breakfast.

I stayed at the Meadowlark Inn for one day November 12, 2010 and it was extremely relaxing. The room was cozy and I was awaken by the sun rising and shining through the large bedroom window overlooking a beautiful meadow. Looking out the window were several cows lazily grazing. A long walk through the woods followed by a mouthwatering breakfast and pleasant conversation with my most gracious hostesses completed a most enjoyable stay.

We had a wonderful stay with Deb and Lucia. The Inn was warm and inviting. The food was remarkable. The Innkeepers are a wealth of knowledge about the area and make sure you don't miss any of those special events and places that the residents of Brattleboro frequent.This was our fifth or sixth stay. We always enjoy our stay at the Meadowlark Inn... they are friendly, helpful and cook a delightful breakfast that is only topped by the view out the breakfast window. The homemade cookies and cider in the afternoon hit the spot. A relaxing country experience that we enjoy each time we visit.

This was our second 5-day stay at the Meadowlark Inn and we loved it! The innkeepers couldn't be sweeter, more helpful, or more accommodating. The breakfasts are fabulous, so come with an appetite. We stayed in the cozy but spacious Pine Loft and enjoyed sitting in front of the fire sipping wine, while reading or watching the huge flat screen TV. It's a great place to relax amid lovely surroundings. The 2.2 mile walking trail that starts right outside the Inn is refreshing and invigorating, and helps ease the guilt of eating those fabulous breakfasts. Brattleboro is a nice little town with some terrific restaurants, great shops, and nice people. We'll be back!

We stayed at the Meadowlark in June 2010 -- absolutely the best B&B we've experienced! We arrived after the usual check-in but Lucia was gracious and even upgraded our room! The grounds are beautiful and quiet, with an impressive garden and view. The rooms felt very private, and the breakfast accommodated a specialized diet AND was delicious with beautiful presentation. Will definitely stay again!

Just returned to Pennsylvania from an overnight stay at the Meadowlark Inn, and I cannot say enough good things about Lucia, Deb, and their beautiful inn. I'm a weekend warrior who is frequently on the road and often stays at B&B's; none compare to the Meadowlark. The atmosphere is inviting, the rooms are well appointed, and the hosts are welcoming and genuine. I was traveling alone, and despite an inn full of guests, they made me feel like I was the only one there. Can't thank Lucia enough for her dinner recommendation; it was spot-on. And the breakfast was wonderful. Tough to beat blueberries from their own blueberry bush in back of the inn. No one will leave hungry. Despite the distance from Brattleboro to home, I will always recommend the Meadowlark Inn.

We loved our room and all of its amenities. The breakfast provided was first class and the inn's common space was warm & inviting. The location is perfect -- close to the highway and attractions.

We have returned to Meadowlark many times and plan to continue. It is a wonderful relaxing getaway with two fantastic hostesses.

We spent our 1st Wedding Anniversary at the Meadowlark and it was truly amazing. It was our first time at a B & B and from the first greeting they were warm and friendly. Ruby, the farm dog, was the first to greet us and Deb showed us around the property. Both Deb and Lucia have done a great job with the old farm house and everything is clean and cozy. I personally enjoyed sitting on the deck looking up at the stars. On a clear night it is truly a site! I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to get away from it all.

Our stay at the Meadowlark Inn and Brattleboro far exceded our expectations. The host Lucia and Deb have a little bit of paradice that they shar with the public. The room, the service and the breakfasts are out of this world. We are all ready talking about our next visit and we just returned yesterday. A perfect location -- tranquil and rural, yet near to I-91 exit as well as cultural activities. Rooms are very attractive & well-maintained. Hosts are friendly, helpful, and make great breakfasts.

We just got back from Brattleboro (we had never been before), and feel so relaxed and spoiled by our experience at the Meadowlark. The facilities, both inside and out, were immaculate! We have a jaccuzzi at home that we never use, but the double jaccuzzi in our room was so inviting and soothing! Many B&B's don't offer king-size beds, but our room was large, our mattress was so comfortable and large- we slept like babies. Even though there was an air conditioner in our room, the breeze from the open window and the overhead fan was so wonderful that we barely used the a.c. Lucia was a delightful and knowledgable hostess and offered a delicious breakfast (we stayed 2 nights), as well as cookies and lemonade in the afternoon. In addition, Lucia was laid back and flexible, when we reallized that we would be getting into town later than expected- she left the door open for us. We would most definitely return to the Meadowlark if we returned to this area and reccommend it to our friends!

The owners, Lucia and Deborah, have created a truly remarkable place. Cute, without being too cutesy. Comfortable, well appointed rooms, each differently decorated. Great breakfasts - not just Costco danish - REAL food! Organic eggs, veggies from their garden, baked goods to die for. Ask them for ANYTHING and they will respond "No problem, we're nurses!" They were so gracious dealing with all of the little details and accomodations required for meeting the needs of the 96 year old traveling with us. They were also great with the younger members of our party - arranged golf, restaurants and other travel advice. I can't say enough good things about our stay. We'll be back!

Over the years my husband and I have stayed at many B&B's this was the most tranquil of all. The hospitality of Deb and Lucia was wonderful. Will go back soon. Geri

We’ve been thinking again about how peaceful and wonderful our May (2009) stay at the Meadowlark Inn was. The Innkeepers were personable, relaxed, and friendly and gave helpful insider tips on where to eat dinner and where to go for fun and picturesque views etc. We especially enjoyed the personal touches--hot tea brought to us as we relaxed--we didn't have to do a thing! And the gourmet breakfasts were delightful! We've gone to many B&Bs and this was at the top!

My wife and I had a great time and enjoyed the Christmas decorations. We felt like we had spent the night at Grandma's house!

A beautiful historic home, so charming and lovingly maintained by the two innkeepers. Interiors are comfortable and attractive, and the property includes a large wrap-around porch, extensive gardens, beautiful country views, and comes complete with friendly outside cats and a wonderful dog. Curious jersey cows in the field next door greeted us when we walked by. The hammock beckoned us to linger under the tree in the shade. The hosts are available and helpful as needed, but do not hover or insert themselves into your vacation, which we appreciate. Breakfast is a big part of the attraction at this place! Deb and Lucia are culinary school grads who prepare the most sumptuous and delicious breakfasts, often highlighting local and organic produce. Breakfasts start with homemade sweet breads and fresh fruit, juice, tea and coffee, and they offer a choice of two entrees, one sweet and one savory. While we stayed there, the menu included fluffy blueberry pancakes with Vermont Maple Syrup, of course, following their trip to the local blueberry patch! For a switch away from sweet, I chose organic eggs served over zucchini pancakes, with the zucchini straight from their garden. My husband raved about his apple and pear crepes. My daughter swooned over the spice cake. Each afternoon, cookies and lemonade. Our room (the Pine Loft) was large and cozy, with wood paneling and windows on three sides. They set up a (blow up mattress) bed for our daughter, and there was still plenty of room for us, our suitcases and a nice sitting area, with fireplace and HDTV. Our 6 year old felt welcome and enjoyed playing with the dog, petting the cats, playing games, greeting the cows and running around the huge lawn. It rained three out of the five days we were there, and it didn't matter a bit to us. We just curled up with a pot of tea on the screened in porch and read books, or played Clue in the separate game room.

I have been to the Meadowlark Inn twice now and each time it has been a wonderful experience. It is tucked away down a dirt road with beautiful views of the mountains. When you arrive you are greeted by the welcoming innkeepers who will no doubt offer you some their homemade cookies. The rooms are spotless and the breakfast is amazing. If you are looking for a peaceful gateway with amazing service in a quaint setting go to the Meadowlark Inn!!
