1868 Crosby House

Lynn was welcoming. The house was beautiful and spacious. The room had a fireplace !! Breakfast was a treat! Coffee at my door in the morning was shear decadence! Short walk to everything we wanted to do.

Came here for a weekend getaway. Very comfortable environment. The owners are friendly and accommodating while respecting the guests privacy. The house is beautiful with great trails out back. Very convenient to the highway and downtown bratt. Will definitely come back! Thank you!

We've stayed with Lynn (and Richard) for a weekend every August for the last 6-7 years, when we were attending the Marlboro Music Festival ten miles away. Lynn is a warm, hospitable innkeeper with a real gift for making guests comfortable and happy. The old house is beautifully decorated in period style, but not overdone with frou-frou stuff: it was her home, where she raised her family. It's convenient to downtown Brattleboro, has a beautiful garden adjoining trails in the state forest. And oh yes, the food. breakfasts are creative, delicious and filling!

Beautiful gardens & trails. Each room unique in decor & comfort. Breakfast delicious. Morning coffee in room while getting ready for the day. Enjoyed conversation out on the deck surrounded by plants & well-maintained yard. Cannot say enough about our wonderful time spent there.

I stayed twice at the Crosby House--once in a single room for a one-night stay, and again in one of their apartments for a three-night stay. Both stays were wonderful. The older, single room is charming and the extra space of the apartment was welcome. The trails behind the house are extensive and it's a real treat to be able to access them right from their grounds. The breakfasts are delicious! Lynn's hospitality is warm and generous. Highly recommended.

We had wonderful stay while traveling to Vermont for a big birthday party in town. The room was lovely with a welcoming fire. The bathroom was sparkling clean. Breakfast was a delight. We would highly recomend this inn.

We enjoyed our stay very much. Our room was well-appointed and cozy, and the fireplace was a pleasure. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, and we lingered there peacefully for a couple of hours! Lynn and Richard were absolutely lovely and very friendly.

From the minute we entered the Crosby House we knew we were in for a treat. It was raining outside but the inn was warm and cozy. Fireplaces were lit and the smell of freshly made apple cake aroused our taste buds. Our room had a fireplace and the softest sheets I have ever slept in. This stay was right in the middle of our seventeen day trip to New England for the fall colors and it was the best B&B we stayed at for our entire trip. Great food too! Don't miss a stay here if you can help it.

We have stayed at many B & B's over the years and this is one of the best! Lynn & Rick make you feel welcome in their home. They have thought of everything to make your stay most enjoyable, including little things like a night light. Terrific breakfast and delicious apple pie! Our next trip to Vermont will certainly include another stay at this wonderful B & B!

1868 Crosby House was wonderful. My husband and I felt very welcome and the rooms were immaculate. I would highly recommend staying there and I will definitely be returning.

This B&B is so nicely run. The owners are generous, kind, and helpful. One does not feel like they are staying in a hotel, but more like a guest in someones home. Everything was super clean and breakfast is charming. I highly recommend it.

This is the perfect place for spending time in Brattleboro and touring southern VT. We live in northern CT and often daytrip our way up north, but this time decided to stay overnight for a little getaway. This historic house is amazing. Lynn & Richard, our friendly and welcoming innkeepers (and owners), have put so much love and effort into the home and grounds, that we are anxious to go back and stay with them again. The location is perfect - walkable to downtown Brattleboro, beautiful trails adjacent to the backyard, and in a residential neighborhood with other fabulous homes. The inn's backyard is impeccably landscaped, peaceful and beautiful. We can't wait to run off for another getaway to the 1868 Crosby House. Thank you again, Lynn & Richard...hope to see you soon!

Crosby House is one of our very favorite places to stay in New England; this was our 4th visit. Rooms are beautiful & comfy, and totally immaculate. The Garden Suite has everything, including a nice kitchenette, and porch for relaxing overlooking the gorgeous gardens. Breakfasts are fabulous! The hosts, Lynn & Richard, set the tone in many ways with their warm and generous hospitality. Walking into town is easy, as is access to I-91. It's always a great pleasure to stay at Crosby House.

This was the the first time that I had stayed at a B&B and to be honest, I was a bit skeptical, but my experience at the Crosby House was absolutely wonderful. Our room was very comfortable, Lynn is a delightful woman, and her cooking was fabulous. My only regrets were that I had to leave and that it wasn't a Bed & Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner! I would enthusiastically recommend the Crosby House to anyone!

Lynn was warm and friendly and helpful. The room was delightful and the library of dvd's was easily accessible. The breakfasts were delicious and interesting. I felt very pampered. It is a convenient location to downtown Brattleboro.

My husband and I decided to spend one night in Brattleboro for our first wedding anniversary. We were graciously met by Lynn and Richard upon arrival and given the tour of the house and also information about downtown. Our room was very comfortable, ultra clean and beautifully furnished. The next morning we had a delicious breakfast and enjoyed wonderful conversation with the other couple staying over.

My girlfriend and I stayed here after a day on Mount Snow, and we absolutely loved it. The rooms and house is very cozy and elegant, and Lynn, the owner, could not have been nicer. She is also an incredible cook (breakfast was awesome). We will definitely stay here next time in Brattleboro.

You walk in the house, candles are lit, music is playing, and coffee and tea are available to you. The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxing. The rooms are beautiful! The Autumn Room was cozy without being over crowded. Tea and coffee delivered to your door when you wake, a delicious 2 course breakfast that can last you past lunch, beautiful trails behind the house for you to walk or cross country ski, coffee for you to take to go as you venture into town, and returning to a lovely room with a warm fireplace are just a few of the perks we experienced during our stay at the Crosby House. And really, the accommodations began before we even checked in. I wrote an email concerning some eating restrictions (looking for vegetarian and dairy-free) Lynn wrote back the next day easing my fears with the sweetest question... :) "Do you prefer soy or rice milk?" It was so nice to hear that she was more than willing to accommodate our request. I would recommend Crosby House to anyone who is truly looking to get away from the hustle and bustle. Who is ready to relax. Who is ready for a true retreat. I am already looking forward to having another excuse to visit again!

As walk in guests we were treated courteously and given great tips for a short and lovely stay in Brattleboro...walking trails out back were a bonus! Very comfy beds.

This wonderful house/home was a terrific getaway for my wife and me. It was clean, beautiful, immaculate, and very friendly, Lynn and Richard were like family after no more than 5 minutes. We loved our experience at the Crosby House. It was the first bed and breakfast that we stayed in on our road trip through Vermont. The host and hostess made us feel so comfortable, and every detail was covered. The outside was breathtaking with fall foliage in full view, and the inside was beautiful. We will recommend this inn to all of our friends!

Ein hübsches fast 200 Jahre altes Neuenglandhaus, nahezu original eingerichtet, aber dennoch mit dem Komfort eines modernen Badeszimmers, einer Kaffeemaschine und Wlan. Ein großer Park hinter dem Haus lädt mit Liegestühlen, Hängematte und Pavillion zum Verweilen ein. Die Hauswirtin Lynn ist ganz reizend. Sie lebt schon über 40 Jahre mit ihrem Mann hier, hat hier ihre Kinder großgezogen. Eine halbe Stunde vor der von uns gewünschten Frühstückszeit bekommen wir Kaffee auf's Zimmer gebracht. Das Frühstück selbst wird in Lynn`s Kaminzimmer eingenommen. Alle Gäste, also 6, sitzen hier zusammen am Tisch. Das Frühstück wird frisch von Lynn zubereitet. Es besteht aus frischem Bratapfel, dann Ham-Cheese-Omlett mit Vollkornbrot, Toast, Butter, hausgemachte Marmelade, Kaffee, Orangensaft, einfach köstlich. Lynn erklärt uns, wie wir gleich vom Haus aus auf die verschiedenen Wanderwege gelangen können. Doch leider fehlt uns die Zeit dafür. Es reicht nur für einen Rundgang durch die Stadt.

There was a slice of delicious homemade apple pie waiting for each of us as we arrived at the Crosby House in Brattleboro, VT. Despite the fact that we arrived quite late, our host, Lynn, greeted us warmly and helped us inside with our suitcases. Our room was beautifully decorated and the bed was very comfortable. Our ensuite bathroom had only a stall shower, but it was roomy and had two shower heads! Everything was immaculate: the room, the common spaces, the bathroom, the linens, and the towels. Our host, Richard, discretely knocked each morning at precisely the time promised to deliver a carafe of fresh, hot coffee to our room while we were getting ready to go down to breakfast. Lynn prepared gourmet and delicious breakfasts for the guests both mornings we were there. The quality of the breakfasts was quite remarkable and not at all your average fare. Lynn clearly enjoys cooking and creating new and interesting breakfast menus! We certainly will return to the 1868 Crosby House on a future trip to Brattleboro. We would highly recommend this B&B.

Lynn is a great chef, the food was high quality, fresh, creative and delicious. Lynn asked me what time I wanted my breakfast and had a beautiful place set and ready for me the next morning. I asked to eat outside and everything was taken out for me. The grounds are lovely with what looked to be a hiking trail in the back leading into the woods. My room had a jacuzzi tub and the downspout was a waterfall. I felt very taken care of and will go back. Lori from CT

Our stay was very comfortable and quiet at this lovely INN located close to downtown Brattleboro but in the midst of a residential neiborhood. Very quiet and peaceful stay. The Inn is just right and immpecably clean, would highly recommend at any time of year. The innkeepers were more than accomadating.

Lynn is the most genuinely welcoming hostess ever. It's clear that this is not just a job for her, and as a result I felt perfectly comfortable and at home at the Crosby House. The bedrooms are charming, well-appointed, and spotless. (I stayed in Autumn Rose and family members were in the other rooms.) BTW, Brattleboro is a worthy destination in itself, with nearby attractions icing on the cake.

My wife and I stayed at the Crosby House for two days while we explored Brattleboro. Lynn & Richard have done an outstanding renovation, not only with the house, but the park-like grounds behind the house. There is outside seating everywhere overlooking the well-landscaped gardens. And great trails accessable from the back yard. Lynn was very helpful sharing information about the town, the shops, where to eat, and even put us in touch with a realtor. Breakfasts were gourmet and very filling! We can highly recommend the Crosby House and will stay there again, if in Brattleboro.

We have not stayed at many B&Bs but we were very pleased with the experience we had at the 1868 Crosby House. The innkeeper, Lynn, is warm, friendly and accommodating. We were in town for a wedding so we did not have a chance to explore more of the sweeping garden and grounds. We would definitely stay here again the next time we visit the area.

Unfamiliar with the area, I had used this site to find a place that met our needs and timeline. Unfortunately many places would not accommodate us for one evening, but Crosby House did. We were pleased to find this charming place with more to do in the area than we had time for. As a result, we will return to Crosby House for more nights so that we can explore and take advantage of Crosby House hospitality and its lovely setting.

This is the second time we have stayed at Crosby House. The first time we rented one of their efficiency apartments, as we had a longer stay in the area, and this second time we were in one of the rooms in the Main House. The rooms are comfortable, and relaxing, and very well decororated. Lynn Kuralt is a gracious, delighful and most accomodating hostess - and a wonderful cook. Behind the inn is an extensive garden, which is a wonderful place to explore as it connects with the trail system around Brattleboro, VT.

We spent one night in this delightful B&B. This place means customer service. They couldn't do enough for us. From the wonderful fireplace in our room (with a timer to shut off after you fall asleep) to coffee served in our room, we never had to ask for anything. A beautiful sitting room with free beverages, cookies and coffee in the dining room, and a great breakfast all combined to make for a wonderful stay. I would recommend this lovely home for anyone traveling through Brattleboro (which is a lovely town). Thanks to Lynn and family for making us feel just like "family".

We love staying in B&B's for all the reasons that made our stay at Crosby House so wonderful: beautiful rooms, home-like atmosphere, amazing food (OMG!), and those little touches that no hotel can match. Lynn even offered us homemade apple pie! Now I'm busy making up excuses to go back to Brattleboro.

My husband and I regulary visit B&B's on our vacations and the Crosby House ranks among the best! Lovely innkeeper, beautifully maintained and decorated home, all the amenities, terrific room and a delicious breakfast to top it off. Shopping is only a short walk as are excellent walking/hiking nature trails. If you are in Brattleboro, VT this is the place to stay. I would highly recommend it.

We didn't have reservations for the night anywhere and decided to see what may be available in Brattleboro. We stumbled upon the 1868 Crosby House in the early evening and lucky us, there was a room available! Lynn is a sweet and polite hostess, a great cook and very knowledgeable about the area. The entire house was clean and cozy and while our stay was short, we would recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice place to stay in Brattleboro. Thanks for a great experience Lynn!

This is a beautiful and romantic B&B. The hospitality was top notch, the breakfasts were excellent. The retreat trails from the property were wonderful to walk. Completely exceeded our expectations and we strongly recommend.

A beautiful old house on Route 9, right outside of town. Lynn is a welcoming professional hostess. Great rooms with modern bathrooms (one with a jacuzzi), delicious breakfasts artfully served with cut flowers everywhere and lovely china & furniture. One of the best B&Bs we've stayed at. Large garden & adjoining hiking trails.

We spent a few nights in the Crosbyhouse and were completely satisfied. Lynn is the perfect hostess and the breakfasts were just amazing! The house is in beautiful shape with obvious care and attention taken to all the details of this victorian home. We are now sold on the idea of staying in Bed and Breakfasts instead of the regular old hotels.

Outstanding Services

Lynn is a great hostess. Nothing is too small for her to pay attention to. On arrival, tea and cookies. Snacks available in the kitchen. Beautiful antique furnishings. This is one of the best B&B's we've been to, with a beautiful garden and walking trails, plenty of things to do. She knows Brattleboro and Vermont well, and can suggest great things to do, and good restaurants. Convenient for the Marlboro Music Festival and many other events. This could be a destination for its own sake for a really relaxing weekend.

I stayed in the Garden Apt. on business for over 2 months. The apartment faced the most beautiful gardens - beds and beds of perennials, a gazebo, ponds. My hosts - Lynn and Richard - could not have been kinder or more responsive in their effort to make my stay comfortable. The apartment was cleaned weekly and had everything that I needed including cable TV and wireless internet. They are an excellent resource about the area - the location was perfect with an easy walk to town, just off 91, and the famous Retreat Trails are at the end of the garden. This would be a memorable setting for a wedding or special celebration!
