Eddington House Inn

Patti was warm and friendly, the place was immaculate, we were within walking distance of one of our favorite restaurants, and the stuffed french toast with fresh strawberries was delicious. We will certainly go back again.

My daughter and I were looking at college nearby and stayed one night at the Eddington. I am now glad that she will be going to the school so that my husband and I can look forward to additional nights at the EH over the next few years. Patti was very accommodating and helpful with local knowledge. Very good breakfast which we have recreated with success at home.

The Eddington House Inn had historic charm and the food and hostessing were top-notch. I have stayed at many B&Bs and this was one of the best I have experienced. I would recommend it without hesitation!

My husband and I were given a "relax and unwind" package and had an amazing experience. The suite was so thoughtfully done and comfortable. The breakfasts were amazing, the recommendations from Patti were spot on, the bed comfortable and cozy, and the day long treats were delicious. We will be back.

First time in Vermont, and Eddington House was the perfect place to stay! Warm inn-keeper, delicious breakfasts, cozy rooms, and welcoming environment! Patti provided maps and great advice on places to eat, visit, and shop.

We had such a wonderful weekend at Eddington House Inn in Bennington. It is in a perfect location. We went on some beautiful walks each morning before breakfast. Patti was a fabulous hostess. She made te best breakfast. From baked eggs to french toast casserole, everything was so yummy! Our room was really comfortable and clean. Such a great bed and breakfast!

We totally enjoyed our stay at the Eddington House Inn. Patti is very gracious and most genuine. She thought of everything and made us feel so much at home. We feel like we have known her forever. Looking forward for our next trip to Vermont. Thank you, thank you Patti.

Our first trip to Vermont, we chose the Eddington House as our main base. We were most happy with our decision. Patty is a superb hostess providing three clean, simply decorated rooms in a warm sunny home! Our first floor suite was immaculate, the linens crisp and nightstand bonbons most welcomed! Breakfasts were an alternate os sweet one day and savory the next and a wonderful expectation for us each morning. Patty is encyclopedic on the area, even providing us bike riding routes in a flash. We highly recommend for the warmth, comfort and true delight of a Vermont vacation experience!

The Eddington House is an outstanding B&B. The owner- Patti makes you feel at home and is a gracious hostess. The rooms were comfy and very clean. Patti's breakfasts and homemadr treats are spectacular. My daughter and I did the getaway package with the spa service---it was wonderful. I highly recommend this B&B. kathy k.

We can't say enough about this charming, comfortable, beautiful old Inn. Patti, the innkeeper makes you feel like you're one of the family. We were so spoiled every morning by her delicious breakfasts. The Inn is very clean and tastefully decorated throughout, including each of the 3 rooms they rent. Patti's attention to every detail makes for a truly wonderful experience. She's glad to help you if you need directions or ideas about where to visit during your stay. It was one of the best vacations my husband and I have ever taken. Thank you Patti! We hope to come back some day!

The room was beautiful and spacious with everything we needed. Only complaint about the room was that the bed was a bit hard and not as comfortable as the website claimed. Our innkeeper was very nice and helpful, giving us excellent suggestions for things to do and places to eat. We really appreciated that! Our only complaint with her was an odd phone call our first night at 8:45 pm telling us in a fairly rude way that we were too loud. In 34 years, I have never been told that. It was early in the evening, and we were sitting by an open window talking in normal voices, laughing, and playing a game of Clue. We had no alcohol to drink, although she assumed we had. We thought someone must have complained, but she told us the next day that she had heard us from within the house and thought we should be quieter. Unfortunately, although we put it behind us after she finally apologized, it did make us a bit uncomfortable the rest of our stay. I will never stay here again or recommend it, which is a shame because the house was wonderful and the food was truly excellent.

Everything from our welcome to tantalizing breakfasts to airy, relaxing decor...all worked together to make our stay at Eddington House the real 'get-away' we had looked forward to. Great Hostess...Patti!

We called for last minute reservations and we warmly welcomed. Such a beautiful home, and the rooms were top notch in comfort and cleanliness. Patti was the ultimate hostess and made us her priority. A snack was waiting for us that evening, and breakfast the next morning was a four star. I would highly recommend this Inn to anyone traveling to Vermont.

I loved staying at the Eddington House, and was so improved by the cleanliness of the home and the size of the rooms. There was so much space to sit and enjoy a book by the fireplace or take a bubble bath. Patti was such a sweetheart--so friendly and welcoming. I would recommend this place to anyone, especially people visiting Bennington College, which is a 3-minute drive from Eddington House! Also, breakfast was fabulous--my dislike for cheese was kindly accommodated for, and Patti was a conscientious and experienced chef as well as hostess!

My wife and I stayed here at the end of June 2010. We found both the place and the hostess to be very charming. A good B&B should reflect its area in different ways, the style of the home, its breakfast menu, and its host and/or hostess should have a good understanding of the local highlights. On all these grounds the Eddington House was a fine place to stay and we would recommend it very highly although the narrow and steep stairs leading to the bedrooms may be a challenge to some.

I recently had a business trip in upstate New York and had the pleasure of staying across the state line at the Eddington House Inn in North Bennington, VT. Patti, the owner, is a gracious hostess and knowledgeable about the area. She had menus of within-walking-distance restaurants (and there are some good ones), and she told me about the paeonies being in bloom at the Robert Todd Lincoln estate 30 minutes to the north. The Inn was lovely and Patti's hospitality and delicious breakfast made it a memorable visit.

Where do I start,, My friend and I wanted a relaxing,stressfree, fun few days.She happened across the Eddington House.Our prayers were answered. North Bennington Vermont is someplace I will never forget..The Eddington house was so beautiful, and warm, and with Pattie there for all your needs and ,more. You cant ask for anything more.. I havent stop talking about the B&B , I will talk about to anyone who will listen. Everyone needs to stay at the Eddington House at least once in their lifetime. I'm ready to drive another 12 hours right now.. Pattie, I miss your home, and your knowledge of the town, and your breakfast. Thanks for such a great time.. Debbie

We had the best time!! Apon getting there, we were a little lost so we called Patti whom is more than happy to tell us how to get there...She is full an amount of information.. You can't find enough time to see it all.. We did the spa package: 1hr massage and we added on the stone package for just a little more.. That night we came back to find cheese spread and crackers for our wine. Breakfast is great and your talking about someone that is picky.. She had homemade cookies that were warm, pitchers of water with sliced oranges, hot water for tea and pastries she made and all the food was homemade... The girl is great, makes you feel like you live there... Kevins is a bar/restaurant that treats you like you live there! Very,very, very friendly.... The walk to Pangeas is close by.. Patti would set up for the day with drinks and snacks and would go on about her business too!!! She's a busy girl..... I would highly, highly, highly tell anyone I know about this so bad that told my girfriend that I was going to tell my husband to put up the house for sale and move here... It brought a tear to my eye when we were leaving....... I want to go back now!! Please go if you have a chance.... The scenery is great but not as great as the Eddington Inn... Dianne

I have never written a review of an experience at an inn or B&B but felt compelled to after such an outstanding experience at Eddington House Inn. We found the inn through the internet for a last minute ski trip to Vermont. Our past experiences have been hit or miss with B & B's and local inns, but this time what we found on arrival at the Eddington House actually exceeded the photos and description online. The building is an antique settlement house that has been newly refurbished. The decor and furnishings are a tasteful and fresh-feeling mix of vintage, antique and new, while the rooms are spacious, light-filled and in immaculate condition (we asked to see the other rooms available). The bathrooms are up to date and sparkling clean, and include Vermont made soap and shampoo. The atmosphere throughout the inn is warm, comfortable, cozy and clean--perfect after a day of skiing with children. Included was a full breakfast (two recipes from which should be included in someone's cookbook of standout B&B recipes: stuffed French toast and "Bismarck" pancakes--fabulous!). Also included is afternoon tea, with family recipe homemade pastries. The innkeeper and chef, Patti Eddington, is the heart and soul of the operation and her culinary and hostess skills shine bright. We intend to return next year when the snow is back.

Our host Patti was gracious and helpful, pointing out a wonderful local walk to start our day. The house is lovingly restored and true to its origins, our room & bed pretty & comfortable, the bath roomy and so fresh and clean. Patti was also able to accommodate our teenage daughter for the night, making our brief sojourn in North Bennington feel like a real vacation. Breakfast was delicious with lots of wonderful fresh fruit, outstanding stuffed french toast and great coffee. Chilled water bottles were available at all times, and tasty brownies were out at night in case one needed a bite of 'something'. We hope to find rooms available the next time we need to be in Vermont visiting our daughter at Bennington College.

I took a trip with mother to this place. It had really nice clean spacious suite and I really liked the homely feel that the kitchen is right next to the dining area. Loved the pastries for afternoon tea and out host was extremely great and accommodating. The Innkeeper was also pretty awesome and helped me get the reservation according to my mother's return trip. The area is quiet and a nice place to eat (Kevin's)is closeby. The plus point beautiful quiet place, the drawback the same it's a quiet place.

My husband and I loved staying at the Eddington House. Patti was so warm and friendly. The B&B was impeccably clean, beautifully decorated, and the breakfast was delicious and of gourmet quality. We would definitely recommend this B&B to others!

This was the first Bed and Breakfast we've stayed at, and it was a fantastic experience. The inn has a sign in the main entrance, "enter as strangers, leave as friends" and that's the truth! The warmth and comfortable environment the inn provides is relaxing and feels like you're still inside your own home. Breakfast is AMAZING! And the different packages that are offered are avaialbe for all age groups, and is worth a try--you won't be disappointed!
