  • Hill Farm Inn is proud to be certified a Green Hotel in the Green Mountain State. Most guest rooms are in the Main Inn built in 1830(foreground) or the Guest House built in 1790(shown in the background).
There are several miles of grassy nature trails on the property. Here the trail follows the Battenkill River where you can fish. The Hill Farm barn and silo, dating from 1800, are in the background.
There are many special places to sit and relax and enjoy the view. This view looks across our pastures and nature trails along the Battenkill towards the Teconic Mountains.
Hill Farm Inn is off the highway, in a tranquil country setting, where you can really relax. Yet, our location between Bennington and Manchester puts you just minutes away from shops, restaurants and sights.
Guests enjoy the common areas of the Inn including the sitting room pictured here, the dining roon, and especially the wrap-around porch.
For spectacular views and maximum privacy, try one of our four cabins. The Willows, shown here, overlooks our pastures with the mountains in the background. It features a sitting room, a porch with chairs, a private bathroom with shower, microwave and refrigerator.
Although we are no longer a working dairy farm, vestiges of days past remain. Our perennial garden, historic old barn and silo and acres of pasture land are still a wonderful setting for our every-growing population of friendly farm animals.
Uncle Abner's Room is a deluxe country room with a queen bed, sitting area, cable TV and VCR, full private bathroom, wonderful views, free wi-fi internet access, and air conditioning. It is the only room that has a private entrance as well as an entrance directly into the main inn.
The Obadiah Suite features a king bed, separate sitting room and wonderful views of the mountains. Located upstairs in the main inn, it has air conditioning, cable TV and VCR, a full private detached bathroom, and a full sofa bed.
The Loft offers a large open floor plan with kitchen, fireplace, queen, twin and full sofa bed.
The Battenkill Suite has cathedral ceilings with fan, skylight, fireplace, balcony, king bed, sitting room with flatscreen cable TV/DVD/VCR, clock-radio-CD player, free wireless internet access, refrigerator, private entrance, and lots of charm.
Breakfast is a highlight of the Hill Farm experience. Fresh, homemade breads and baked goods, fresh fruit, blueberry pancakes with real Vermont maple syrup and more is cooked to order. As part of the Vermont Fresh Network we strive to serve locally produced organic foods whenever possible.
The Hill Farm Inn property includes fifty acres of open space that provides grazing area for our horse, sheep, goats and pot bellied pigs, as well as nature trails along our frontage on the famed Battenkill River.
Hill Farm Inn provides a very special setting for the wedding of your dreams, family reunions and other gatherings.
Specks and Blossom share an afternoon snack.

    Wonderful weekend getaway

    May 08, 2012

My husband and I spent a weekend at the Hill Farm Inn and had an excellent experience. Lisa was fantastic and her breakfast featured the best blueberry pancakes we had ever eaten! The animals were lovely and the recreation around the Inn was fun. I highly recommend Hill Farm Inn and will be returning soon.

    A wonderful place to stay

    July 25, 2010

We stayed for one week in July 2010 in the Battenkill Suite. It was roomy, well furnished, and lovely. There was always more to discover on the grounds including a great area to view sunsets and the animals were fun. The hosts were helpful about the area, providing good recommendations about food and activities.

    Great B&B!

    August 18, 2009

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Hill Farm Inn. The room was charming and clean, the blueberry pancakes were delicious and Lisa and Al were lovely and very helpful when we asked for suggestions of what to do and where to go. We also loved the walking trail and the farm animals on the property. The entire experience was truly enjoyable, and we would certainly recommend this B&B to others.

    Needs some work

    October 20, 2008

We stayed 3 nights and nearly left after two. While the inn is charming and breakfast choices good, the cabin we were in needed renovation. Housekeeping was very poor - our sink with soap scum wasn't cleaned the entire time nor was the floor vacuumed. (We had tracked in leaves. It was autumn...) We'd probably not stay there again with so many choices in the area.

    Innkeeper Response
No one likes criticism, but this guest was kind enough to leave us a detailed note that really got our attention. We found the bathroom had been cleaned thoroughly each day, but the worn out enamel on the sink appeared dirty to our guest. The entire bathroom has now been remodeled with a new sink, toilet, flooring, paint and more, and all our cabin bathrooms will be completed by the time they reopen in the spring. We also investigated the complaint about vacuuming and found that a new employee had not been properly trained. This was corrected at once. While every room is inspected by management before a new guest checks in, guests staying over multiple nights sometimes return to their rooms before the daily service has been inspected. While we strive to make every guests' stay perfect, we appreciate having any shortcoming brought to our attention at once so that it can be corrected.

Great food, great view, comfy room

    August 10, 2008

My wife and I stayed 2 nights and had a wonderful time - from fly fishing with local guide Marty Oakland to shopping in Manchester to visiting museums & galleries. Beautiful views and friendly animals (be sure to visit Wilbur, the pot bellied pig). Lisa and Al Gray were excellent hosts, making sure we were comfortable. We will definitely go again.
