We stayed during a very cold snap weather wise and were so glad we had chosen Hornsby House. It is an exceptionally beautiful home, tastefully decorated and styled. Our room, the Monument room was perfect with a view of the monument obviously, and an open log fire which was a real bonus. Kirsten looked after us really well and we were amazed to be allowed to have the run of the house as we were the only people staying at the time. David arrived on our last morning and couldn't have been more welcoming and generous with his time and suggestions. Mount Vernon was so worthwhile so thanks for that tip David. I highly recommend this wonderful home.

We had several couples stay together in the Hornsby House Inn and it was a wonderful time, we felt very welcome and comfortable and were intrigued by the history of the house and the family as soon as you walk in the doors. I would give it a try, you will love the truth about where you are.

Superb accommodations in a stately 1934 mansion house. Every guest quickly becomes a member of the family as owners Dave and Phil provide delicious breakfasts and relaxing wine and cheese delights each morning and evening. Hospitality and service are outstanding - Dave provided travel tips, recommendations and reservations at local restaurants, and even an audio tour of the adjacent Yorktown battlefield. A great place to get away, relax, and experience American history.

We spent the weekend in Yorktown to celebrate our son's graduation from Coast Guard A-School which is just down the street from the Hornsby House Inn. The owners, brothers David and Philip Bowditch, made us feel very welcome, providing us with historical information about the area and sharing stories of their childhood home. The breakfasts were bountiful with bacon, eggs, and cheese grits served on their grandmother's china. We also enjoyed afternoon wine and cheese, watching the Main Street "traffic" from the comfort of the front porch rocking chairs. David and Philip also provided us with good information about activities in the area as well as recommendations for lunches and dinners. All in all it was a wonderful weekend.

A 1930s home with expensive and tasteful furnishings in immaculately clean rooms. An experience to remember. Thank you, David Bowditch Michael

Just completed our third stay and continue to enjoy this venue as a great place to meet with friends and enjoy each other's company in any of the lovely common areas, i.e. the veranda overlooking the Yorktown Victory monument that overlooks the York River, the beautifully appointed dining room, living room and side porch room as well as the side screened porch. The "Inn Keepers--David and Phil" are wonderful hosts who grew up in the house and know all of its history. They are also helpful in introducing you to all that the Yorktown area offers, i.e., museums, sunset cruises, restaurants, etc. Yorktown has all the charm of Williamsburg and much less traffic.

Phil and I grew up in the what family and friends call the "Big House". Our Mom passed five years ago, having raised four sons in this lovely home. At a sitdown dining room breakfast, we cook a gormet breakfast from Mom's cookbook, "From the Kitchen at Hornsby House, and we talk with our guests. You'll love it.
