War Hill Inn was built by the owners as their family home. The design and detail were gleaned from multiple trips to Colonial Williamsburg creating a reproduction of an eighteenth century home. Situated on a 32 acre estate, the inn beckons guests with serenity rare in our modern world. Owner operated for more than 20 years, the Lees invite you to spend a night and make a memory.
The Manor House at War Hill Inn after a light snow highlights the architectural detail. The wing in the foreground is the owners residence. There are four guest rooms in the remainder of the Manor house. Each room has a private bath room and a full breakfast is served each morning.
The Washington cottage in the foreground was modeled after the Bracken kitchen in Colonial Williamsburg. This cottage sleeps up to five persons in a private setting. The Jefferson cottage in the background was modeled after the Benjamin Powell office in Colonial Williamsburg. This cottage provides an intimate setting for two. Each cottage has a whirlpool tub, and a fireplace. Cottage guests breakfast in the Manor house or the Jefferson cottage has dine-in capability.
The commons area adorned in Christmas decor. All guests are provided access to the commons area at War Hill Inn. Free high-speed wireless internet is available here and in other areas nearby. Guests meet and exchange stories here before breakfast each morning and at other times during the day. Come experience War Hill Inn. The Jefferson cottage at War Hill Inn; a queen size canopy bed, whirlpool tub, rocking chairs on the front porch, stand up shower, kitchenette and privacy, combine to make your stay a life time memory.
The Wilson suite at War Hill Inn has four separate rooms and sleeps five. The front room; viewed through the door way in the photo, has a queen size bed. The rear room; viewed as a reflection in the mirror, has a full bed and a twin bed. The dressing room; in the foreground, has a sink. The tub/shower and toilet are in a fourth room off-photo to the left.
The Tyler room at War Hill Inn is our most spacious. The entire ground floor of the east wing is dedicated to this bedroom and bath. A queen size bed is accompanied by a twin bed and a large sitting area under nine foot ceilings. Overlooking three points of the compass, the Tyler room provides ample views of War Hill's bucolic tranquility.
War Hill Inn from the air, the Manor house lies near the center of a thirty two acre estate. Both cottages are across the drive in the orchard. Surrounded by pastures and trees, War Hill was named after a skirmish in June of 1781. The Lees purchased the property in 1967, cleared the land and began building barns and fences. The Manor house was constructed in stages from 1968 to 1975. A family home for 16 years, then remodeled as a bed and breakfast in 1986 when a municipal water system and fire suppression sprinklers were added. The Washington cottage was built in 1990 and the Jefferson cottage in 2000. Today War Hill is an oasis of rural tranquility located moments from Colonial Williamsburg. We live locally and just wanted a nice night away from the daily grind. The Washington cabin we stayed in was beautiful, Will, the owner was very nice and helpful! The property is on a working farm and is very well maintained. It was really a picture perfect country scene. We will be back!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the War Hill Inn. Will was an exceptional host and went above and beyond to accommodate our small wedding ceremony. We stayed in the Jefferson Cottage. It was quaint yet it had everything you needed...the jacuzzi tub is so nice! The property is beautiful and quiet. It was a pleasure to visit the War Hill Inn and we will be sure to tell all of our friends to visit it too!

We enjoyed our get away at War Hill Inn and would stay there again. will was a gracious host who made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Next time though I would look in to renting the outside cabin. The conversations of the guests in the adjacent room were easily heard through the walls.

We stayed two nights in the Monroe Room and absolutely loved it. The room was spotless and the breakfasts were huge. We enjoyed our stay and thank the owners!

Warhill is the first place that comes to mind when the wife and I are thinking about a romantic get away weekend. The private cottages are amazing and the landscape is fantastic. Outlet mall is down the road and and there are tons of great places to eat nearby.
