Historic Williamsburg's only downton Inn is adjacent to the restored Colonial area, the College of William and Mary and the Merchants Square shopping area.
The George Washington Room has original, handsome cedar floors. Hand colored 19th century book prints feature highlights of General Washington's career, and include a pictorial of his introduction to Mrs. Martha Custis of Williamsburg, soon to become his bride. After dashing off your postcards, nestle in your canopied queen sized bed and listen to the distant fifes. The George Washington Room enjoys a bright southern exposure, overlooking Prince George Street.
The lilting notes of a fife float through THE CONSERVANCY ROOM's bright windows as you soak in your footed bath. Step down from the tub's raised dias to nestle in the fully-draped four poster bed. This lovely, heart of pine-floored room shouts 'Romance' in the fashion of the 18th century. A portion of the proceeds from this room are donated to the Williamsburg Land Conservancy. Overlooks Prince George Street.
The William and Mary Room overlooks the College to the west. The 1864 map of the Civil War blockades published for Harper's Bazaar recalls an era when the town and the College were occupied by the Union forces during what we still refer to as 'the late unpleasantness'. A signed 1999 Donald Regan print celebrates the annual 4th of July ice cream social in the Wren Building Yard, bringing to life the ongoing association of 'Town & Gown'. The William and Mary Room features a luxurious fully draped queen size four-poster bed and hand-painted floor. The view from The William and Mary room overlooks the William & Mary Sorority Court on Prince George and Boundary Streets.
This two room suite features a twin bed in the front room and a private second bedroom with a queen poster bed and full bath. The 'master bedroom' has private access to the porch overlooking tree lined North Boundary Street. A portiion of the proceeds from this room are donated to the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. The North facing porch offers a respite on warm southern afternoons. Rates based on double occupancy.
This two room suite features a sitting room with private access to the porch and a seperate bedroom with a King size bed, private bath. Porch view overlooks the tree lined North Boundary Street.
Snuggle down in your canopied four poster queen bed and enjoy our spacious JAMESTOWN ROOM. You will be enchanted by its stenciled floors and hand colored 19th century prints of Jamestown, memorabilia from the 1907 Exposition and the 1957 Jamestown Festival Celebration. The large, west-facing window overlooks Boundary Street, towards the College of William & Mary.
A 1770 French map and Yorktown memorabilia, including scenes from the surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown as musket fire echoes from the Historic Area just down the road. The YORKTOWN ROOM features a queen size York County Highpost, original heart of pine floors, plus north and east facing dormered windows. Rates are based on double occupancy.
Maybe you were lucky enough to grow up in a place rich with history. If so, you can understand how the children of Williamsburg often feel like they are in a Nancy Drew or Hardy Boys adventure. Their woodland explorations can yield artifacts, perhaps leading to the discovery of a long-lost historic site. The Richneck Room features a display of 17th, 18th and 19th century artifacts from just such a childhood expedition, resulting in the location and excavation of the 17th century Richneck Plantation. The Plantation was founded by settlers who broke away from the original Jamestown colony, but o

Just stayed one night but the owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely consider to stay there again if I ever go back to Williamsburg. Did not dine there so the Dining rating is not indicative

We will definitely stay there again and I highly recommend it. Service Is excellent. No dinner but I rated the breakfast instead which is good and sufficient. If you want more food, there is a cafe next to it that serves everything. I highly recommend the and will definitely stay there again.

My wife and I recently enjoyed one day and night at the Fife and Drum Inn, and would highly recommend this B & B. The location is ideal being right at the town of Williamsbutg and across from William & Mary College. We had an ideal time visiting and enjoying excellent dining.

The Fife and Drum has a great location, and everything we wanted to see was in walking distance. The room was very clean and comfortable. The proprietor was friendly and very helpful.

Centrally located with free parking. We stayed in the Jamestown Room. The room was lovely and the bed was really comfy. We missed breakfast both mornings, however they have tea, coffee, juice and cookies available afterwards also. The cookies and the juice are available all day. Billy was very nice, introduced himself and explained how things work at the Fife and Drum, advised us he was available 24/7. Overall, I would highly recommend the Fife and Drum and would stay there again should we ever make it back.

Room was as I expected. Service was exceptional, very helpful staff and owners. Had a bit of construction going on while we were there, so didn't have the best experience.

Billy and Sharon are the consummate hosts, with friendly, gracious service at every turn. We stopped in ahead of check-in to learn about alternate parking arrangements as the City was reconstructing the Inn's parking lot. Billy and Sharon were out, but we were warmly greeted and given full details of the provisions that had been made. For future visitors, that construction is now complete and everything back to normal. We learned upon check-in that an air conditioning unit had failed after the stresses of the earlier week's excessive heat and humidity. Unfortunately, that unit serviced the Cedars Suite which we had reserved. Billy was very upfront about the progress and after inquiring about our schedule for the evening, offered us some choices. We chose to switch to the Conservancy, which was a smaller but very romantic room. The bath featured a large tiled shower with seat and separate sink and bathroom alcoves, all very nice and impeccably clean. If there was one point of frustration, it would be that the position of the large sink and mirror is such that someone requiring close proximity to shave or apply makeup has a very difficult time. Breakfast was wonderful and consisted of a delicious quiche (puffy omelet style), biscuits with and without ham, fruit and melon, granola and more. We would definitely recommend staying at the Fife and Drum, and will be returning at our next opportunity.

I stayed here while picking my daughter up from a summer program at the College of William and Mary. The inn is very conveniently located to the campus, as well as to all of the Colonial Williamsburg attractions. Our room was comfortable and very clean with antique details--especially charming is the breakfast room.

I rented the Drummer's Cottage for a 4th of July get-away with my wife and daughter. The cottage was perfect! The location was fantastic. We will definitely be staying in the cottage again.

My family and I enjoyed staying here. You can't beat the location - everything was within walking distance. The historical district was a block away and many restaurants and shops were right there. The hosts were friendly and helpful in helping us make the most of our time. I'm used to having a refrigerator for my use in most B&B's, and that was not the case and I wasn't prepared for that, but since there was an ice machine, we made do. The food was great and very fresh - I would have liked to see more variety though, as only one dish changed daily and the rest were the same. I can't say enough about how good it was so it would not prevent me from staying there again. My only (slight) disappointment was that the host had to ask my name when I checked out. I spent 4 nights and a considerable amount of money with them so that did sting a little at the time. That also will not prevent me from going back. All in all, I really enjoyed it and my family and I were very comfortable and felt safe.
