Great bed and breakfast. Would definitely stay again.

4.6 on March 23, 2015

The Fife and Drum is an excellent establishment. It is very clean and well appointed. We stayed in the Yorktown room which sleeps 3. The beds are nice and comfortable and the private bathroom is great. The breakfasts are fantastic and they provided home made cookies every afternoon/evening. The owners are extremely kind, friendly and helpful which made our stay very pleasant. The location is very convenient to the colonial city, William and Mary college, and to contemporary shops. I highly recommend staying at the Fife and Drum.

Warm hospitality, relaxing ambience, our home away from home!

Billy, Sharon and Rhonda offered us a wonderful retreat full of delicious breakfasts and extras; warm and inviting choice room; and rekindled friendship at our home away from home...the Fife and Drum Inn!

Holiday Season Stay

4.4 on January 11, 2015

We had a delightful stay in the Webster Hitchens room over Christmas. The room was well decorated, had a very comfortable bed, lots of storage space and was very quiet. The bathroom while small was well appointed with a very powerful shower with hot water always available. Coffee, tea, and juice were available all day as well as homemade cookies in the afternoon. Billy Scruggs, the proprietor, provided lots of information about what to see and do.The train station is an easy walk being only three blocks from the inn. You need to be aware that all the rooms are up a flight of stairs is case mobility is an issue. The location next the the historic district can't be beat. We would definitely stay here again.

Didn't Met Our Expectations

4.0 on January 09, 2015

If we were to offer a star rating for our experience at this B&B, it would be three out of five. Much of it deserves five stars in our book but overall it did not live up to our expectations. The location couldn’t be beat for convenient access to nearby shops and restaurants as well as the historic area. The common areas are warm and inviting and the breakfasts were outstanding. And we’ve never had another B&B host who was as kind, caring and accommodating as Billy was. The shortcomings related to our room and its furnishings. It had only one chair, which was not positioned with good lighting for reading. We managed by moving it closer to the room’s only table lamp, and using the bed with propped up pillows as a makeshift seat. The issue that presented the most inconvenience was the absence of any mirror with adequate lighting for applying make-up. The bathroom mirror was too high for this purpose even if the lighting might have been appropriate. We can't say whether other rooms were better equipped because we did not see any of them.

A three night holiday in Williamsburg at Christmas

Location, Location, Location

Stayed in Restoration Suite for long weekend in December. Location of inn could not be beat; especially nice not to have to walk as far to downtown area in cold weather. Room was clean and in good condition. Was concerned when I realized it was next to the inn's laundry/storage room, but noise was never an issue due to that. Noise was slight issue since we had access to the porch, and other guests were out there somewhat late, but we'll simply think twice before choosing the same room again. And guests weren't there THAT late; it was unfortunate that we'd chosen to go to bed somewhat early (9 or 10 something). Biggest complaint about the room wasn't major but still worth mentioning...there was a 3-part bathroom with a toilet room to the left and a shower to the right of the sink area. Good size, however...most of the hooks were in the toilet room. This meant that we had to keep moving towels around to have them close to the shower and sink. Also, we would have liked a little more surface space in the bathroom but had chosen to move a small table from the bathroom to the bed area because there was only 1 bedside table. These are relatively minor complaints and did not detract from an overall pleasant weekend. I just wanted to share these little things in the interest of full disclosure! :)

Perfect Location

Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful and the location could not be better for a Colonial Williamsburg visit. We did not need our car while we were there. There were no issues or problems and everything worked as expected.

Excellent One-Night Holiday Stay!

A big plus is that the inn is walking distance to Colonial Williamsburg. Innkeeper provides off-street free parking and you don't need your vehicle. Great place to stay!

Christmas Visit

Visited the Fife and Drum Inn for a few days with family on our way to NY and had an amazing time. The location is perfect and is within walking distance colonial Williamsburg. The owners are the nicest people and really make you feel at home. Everything from the delicious breakfast, to the cookies they leave out at night, to the well decorated rooms, makes this the best place to stay in Williamsburg.

Wonderful!

Lovely room, FANTASTIC location, friendly, professional owners/employees. I have already recommended the Fife and Drum to others and most definitely plan to stay there again myself.
