Joy was incredible! The breakfast was wry delicious. The place is very welcoming, calm, and peaceful. My husband and I were on our honeymoon and we enjoyed every moment there. There was a power outage; however, Joy made it soo delightful by lightening the sexy candles, making sure the guest were ok. Joy was awesome and she should not have been left there to fend for everyone when there was a generator there. Joy was incredible and we will be back! I recommend this stay to everyone. Joy knew the town and gave great recommendations. She found a store for us in our city to purchase an item that was in Williamsburg. Simply great customer service. See you next time Joy!!
Thank you so much for our kind review! We are so glad that you enjoyed everything including the candles when the lights went out. Joy truly is a gem and we know it! Rest assured that she was fully capable of handling the 4 hour power outage and the back up generator has been fixed. We are the only B&B in Williamsburg that has one and in 12 years it has never failed before. Hope to see you again in the future and congratulations on your marriage!

My wife and I were looking for a weekend getaway to celebrate our anniversary and we booked the Colonial Gardens because of price and proximity to Williamsburg. We really enjoyed out stay and Joy (who was our innkeeper) was great/. She was always there when we had questions and she got us comfortable with the Williamsburg area. The breakfast she had every morning was delicious (especially the croissants) and our room was really nice and spacious. I even wanted to make our anniversary more special and Karen the owner had made some recommendations and my wife was surprised with beautiful flowers, champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. It was a great weekend and I recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone who is looking for good value and looking to make great memories!
Thank you so much for your kind review! I am so glad that it turned out just the way you wanted it to. And what lady does not like roses and chocolate covered strawberries! Happy anniversary and please come back again sometime. Karen

What a beautiful Bed and Breakfast. It took me a while to plan our 1st anniverary trip. Once we narrowed it down as to where we wanted to visit, I knew I wanted to stay in a B&B. After viewing Colonial Gardens website and reading the reviews I booked the room. We were greeted promptly by the very sweet Jennifer. Our room was very clean and beautifully appointed. I have never stayed in such a quiet inn. Wonderful for sleeping plus the bed was very comfortable lots of warm blankets. The beautiful breakfast that was prepared for us was very yummy. I am a big breakfast person and found the portions a bit small. I generally eat a bigger breakfast and eat a smaller lunch. We did the opposite on this trip. That is just a personal quirk. Coffee was plentiful and the wine cooler had wine availble for purchase at a reasonable price. The room had plenty of storage and they provided robes and slippers for our use. We did not use the robes but they looked very comfy and cozy. Jennifer was very helpful in finding our way around Williamsburg and had lots of helpful tips. She recommended a wonderful place for dinner on Friday that turned out to be the best meal we had out. I would give this trip a 10 out of 10.
Thank you so much for your kind review. I am so glad Jennifer was attentive and helpful and that you found our beds & linens to be co comfortable. Next time you are with us please ask Jennifer to be a little more generous with your portions or by all means ask for seconds if you are still hungry! Most often folks tell us we put too much on the plates. Glad you had a great time!

My wife and I were looking for a place close to us that we could spend a nice week for our honeymoon. I am a history buff and she is more of a shopper, so the williamsburg area was a perfect fit. I have been to williamsburg many times in my life but have never stayed at a b&b. This was a first for both of us. We started looking online for B&B ' S in the area and found there are quite a few, and as we all know the Internet is not the most reliable of sources, we were a bit skeptical. But upon arrival we were blown away. Clean and beautiful inside. Wonderful breakfasts and kind friendly staff. The only complaint I would have is the outdoor areas are not in good repair. I can understand a rough winter but the views would be great if you could sit outside. Overall 5 star all the way.
Thank you so much for your kind review! We are so glad you had such a nice time while visiting for your honeymoon. I understand those benches in the gardens are covered with moss and we thought about replacing them but everyone said they looked so quaint and fit in with the natural beauty of the place, but I will add new benches and chairs that you can sit in right away!

We loved Jennifer! She hung out with us at breakfast and told us helpful tourist info. She served a great breakfast. Our room was spotless. It didn't feel like you were staying in someone else's house. We had privacy. They provided wine at market price, which we took advantage of. I loved this place and I may come back. You won't be disappointed!
Thank you so much for your kind review! We are so happy you enjoyed your stay. Come again please!

My husband and I stayed for 3 days here and enjoyed our stay very much. Jennifer (The inn keeper) and the owners have truly thought of everything to get you settled in from the moment you arrive until you leave. The only reason I gave the dining a lower rating is because I thought we would get to pick our breakfast choices. Everything tasted very good but there were set daily menus. The B&B is small enough to customize breakfast or at least let you know what's for breakfast the night before. This way you can decline breakfast, if you want something else. The B&B is in a great location! Mins from Williamsburg attractions and lots of restaurants to choose from. Please check out the Second St Grill if you go! Great food and service! I would highly recommend this B&B!
Thank you for your kind review. We are so glad you enjoyed everything as much as you did. I am sorry dining was an issue for you, most B&B's are run the same way as ours with respect to breakfast. Most everyone gets the same delicious breakfast although we do adjust for dietary restrictions. If you are looking to order off a menu you might want to try an "inn" or hotel where they have a chef on staff. B&B's are a bit more intimate and tend not to have the flexibility to do a different breakfast for everyone.

I would like to pass on that Jennifer was OUTSTANDING. She worked with me in spite of an issue that arose in my schedule and made accommodations above and beyond to ensure I had a great time. I haven't slept so well in years! I definitely intend on staying here in the future and recommending the Colonial Gardens B&B to others. Thank you. Marvin Frazier
