Trip North

4.4 on April 21, 2015

Stayed for one night on our way north from Florida. Accommodations were excellent. Dinner and breakfast were gracious and typically French. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Outstanding meal

4.8 on April 21, 2015

Might have been one of the most interesting meals and best I've ever had. Also the most expensive. I'm not crying about it; it was worth it. Couple next to us had their 5 course tasting menu with a different wine with every course. I was jealous.

Romance and Beauty in the VA mountains

5 on April 17, 2015

This is one of our favorite places in Virginia. Beautiful setting, great wineries nearby, and convenient to DC. Even if we had to drive farther to visit the other wineries a bit farther away, we would still use L'auberge as our home away from home.

Romantic Weekend

4.0 on April 08, 2015

Unfortunately due to a flight change, we determined that we would be arriving too late at L'Auberge Provençale for our dinner reservations. I cancelled the reservation in advance but to our surprise and great pleasure, the staff were more than willing to honor our request even though we were 1hr late for the last booking. The service throughout our stay was fantastic and I can say some larger chains could definitely learn from L'Auberge on how to treat its customers. We had booked a villa room which was a mile away from the main residence but as we had been travelling all day, the B&B were kind enough to allow us to stay in one of the main house rooms which was beautiful, with a fireplace and a huge king bed. The food in the restaurant was very good and what you would expect from an a la carte menu (small but filling) though a little pricey All in all our stay at the L'Auberge was a wonderful experience and we would definitely do it again.

L'Auberge Provencale Visit

3.4 on April 02, 2015

Service was very good and everyone was friendly and polite. Restaurant environment was average, the food was excellent, but expensive. The surrounding community was beautiful and allowed for many things to do.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your kind review of L'Auberge Provencale. We are glad you enjoyed our area and your stay at the inn. You will be happy to hear we are now embarking on a complete makeover of our restaurant to a more modern French Theme. We are adding a cocktail lounge with a more inexpensive dining option as well as a completely new kitchen and outdoor terrace. We hope you can join us after our completion of construction and design sometime in the fall of 2015.

Could be wonderful with few attentions to details.

2.8 on April 01, 2015

We were put in the wrong room initially, then asked to move, despite there being only 3 occupied guest rooms for the night. We were not offered the promised refreshments on arrival...we had to request them. When we asked to move our dinner time from 6:30 to 7:30, we were given a grumpy face. We were able to dine at 7:30 and were the only ones dining.

Very impressed

4.2 on March 28, 2015

Stumbled across this gem while in search of others. Very well satified!

Innkeeper Response
We are happy you stumbled upon our inn and hope you will return. Our new face lift will be completed this year with a new dining room, kitchen and terrace. We also will be adding a lounge for our guests featuring creative cocktails, small plates, house made charcuterie, artisanal cheese plates and happy customers.

Day to relax

5 on March 26, 2015

My wife and I added the 4 hour wine tour. Christian was our tour guide. He was very knowledgable about the local wineries and all the wines. He really taught us a lot about the different types of wines and how they are made. He made the trip enjoyable. When we got back to the bed and breakfast, he tools us to our room and showed us where everything was and how it worked. We ordered soup, cheese, dessert and wine for the room. The soup was fantastic and the wine they brought up was the perfect wine for the food we ate. Great getaway with my wife. Highly recommend.

Innkeeper Response
It was great to have a local couple enjoy a getaway here at L'Auberge Provencale. Our wine tours have become a hit and I am happy Christian gave you such an enjoyable tour. The repast you had in your room is a great way to savor some of our cuisine while enjoying an intimate evening with your wife. In this hectic world I am glad you took the time to discover our inn. Hope to see your return soon.

Wonderful Winter Getaway

4.8 on March 19, 2015

We chose a 3-night stay at L'Auberge and it was a wonderful experience. Our suite was decorated beautifully, and the service was fantastic. Breakfast each morning was outstanding. We chose to dine in the on-site Restaurant one night of our stay, and the food - preparation and presentation were delightful. Upon returning to our room, there was a late-night snack of Hot Chocolate and house-made smores waiting for us in our living room. Our final evening, we chose to have their in-room repasse add-on for our dinner, and it was a perfect way to end our stay at the L-Auberge. I would highly recommend a stay. We also found the owners and staff very friendly and helpful,

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your gracious review of our inn L'Auberge Provencale. We strive to make each guest experience as nice as the one you experienced and will continue to do as much as we can to make a perfect stay. Our staff are all really dedicated to making your service as good as your dining experience. We hope you come to see us soon. Make sure your look for our specials coming this summer and fall to add great value to your experience here at L'Auberge Provencale.

Food Group Road Trip

4.8 on March 16, 2015

Four couples who have been cooking, eating and drinking together for over a decade took it on the road. We were lucky to be able to reserve a cold Saturday night in February to stay and dine. The 8 course tasting menu with wine pairings was a wonderful experience - the culinary and serving staff made our evening incredible and having a dining room to ourselves meant we didn't disturb anyone as we got progressively more raucous.

About the innkeepers

Having lived in Key West for about 10 years, Alain and Celeste decided to leave the tropical paradise and open a country inn. They sold both restaurants, and in their Cessna 172 (Alain is a pilot), found the location in Virginia to open their inn. They landed in White Post, in the rolling hills of Virginia Hunt Country. Far enough from the city, but not too far, the property known as Mount Airy.
