We arrived around 6:30pm -- when John & Diane were half an hour away from a full house for dinner. Our reservation at the Inn wasn't until much later, so we asked for some (local) wine and a cheese plate. 15 minutes later, as we were still oohing over the exquisite taste and comfort of the Mountain View room, John arrived at our door with a superb selection of cheeses (and wild boar salami!!) and, mirabile dictu, a much better local wine than any we found over the next two days of vineyard hopping! That was just the keynote of a fantastic stay. Excellent, piping hot coffee& set ups appeared noiselessly outside our door in the morning. Exquisite breakfast, with more good coffee. A tour of the gorgeous kitchen, with pleasant, leisurely conversation with Diane & John. And one final, perfect touch: cell service in the area is terrible, so no GPS, but (of course!) they have a beautifully organized folder with printed directions to all the local sights and businesses. We can't wait to go back to stay a couple of nights and try John's cuisine. Every single aspect of our visit was a delight.

I can't rave enough about the Foster Harris House. We just returned home after a two-night stay, and the place was every bit as beautiful as it appears on the inn's website. We rented the smallest of the five bedrooms--the Jenkins Room--and were very comfortable in it. The en suite bathroom was large and well-appointed and even had a raindrop shower. The breakfasts were also amazing, each of the four courses mouth wateringly delicious and artistically arranged. (I'd love to return someday and have dinner there!) What capped off our stay, though, were the way Diane and John made us feel at home. Every room was occupied for the weekend, and all the guests seemed to feel the same way. We booked a room there because our son was getting married two blocks away at the Inn at Little Washington; and when the weather turned cooler than expected the night of the wedding, Diane even lent me one of her beautiful shawls, going so far as to iron it for me before the festivities began. Now that's hospitality!

John and Diane have made the Foster Harris House an escape to paradise. Their attention to detail is impressive. We felt pampered and wished we had booked a second night in our luxurious mountain view room. The sheets and towels were so soft and smelled great and the rain shower had 4 jets that felt like a spa treatment. The gourmet breakfast was amazing and each of the three courses looked like works of art and was delicious. We will definitely be back and look forward to experiencing dinner as well next time.

Our third stay at the Foster Harris House, and each one seems to get better than the one before, even though we could not imagine anything better.

Owners Diane and John were more than accommodating! The breakfast enjoyed outdoors by choice on a lovely late August morning was a visual and culinary delight! Our room was clean and cozy with a large rain shower and quality linens. The front porch was the perfect place to enjoy the delicious port offered to guests. We recommend this B&B if you plan a trip to the NOVA wineries with so many in close proximity.

FHH was a great experience. I found it through this site, based on the walkability to Inn at Little Wash. The owners are spectacular hosts and went above and beyond to make our stay as perfect as possible. I would recommend FHH to anyone, based upon the level of service, the quality of the breakfast, and the beauty of the home.

We had stayed at another B&B several years ago but it was being renovated, so we stayed at the Foster Harris House. So very glad we did. The room was thoughtfully appointed, and the bathroom was clean and bright. The common areas were all lovely. The breakfast was outstanding, and Diane and John are perfect hosts.

Absolutely every detail for comfort is considered. The welcoming fire, the glass of wine upon arrival, the fashion emergency kit, the rain fall shower, the wonderful smelling bathroom amenities and finally the amazing four-course breakfast to send us on our way. We will definitely return!

After one night in the suite here, I thought about selling everything I owned and moving in. I am still thinking about it. John and Diane are lovely, friendly and welcoming folks who truly make you feel at home. If your home was a lovely country manor with a beautiful view out the window, overlooking a well maintained garden and rolling hill, followed by an amazing 5 star 4 course breakfast. Stella the dog was an added draw. This place is lovely, so well maintained, the pride of the owners really shows, it is the closest thing to paradise I have found within hours of DC. I plan to go back here time and time again, this is by far the nicest B & B I have ever been to.

We love the Foster Harris House! We have been coming here every year at Thanksgiving for the past 5 years just in order to receive the "royal treatment". Although the food, the hospitality and idyllic location alone make the Foster Harris House a must do on the B&B enthusiasts' list, John and Diane MacPherson make the extra effort to ensure that their guests feel 'at home' in their home. And yet, they seem to do it effortlessly. We always feel completely welcomed and know that our time here will be thoroughly enjoyable. What a treat to get away from life's general mayhem and, at least for a day or two, be spoiled rotten!¿David and Richard
