Our stay at High Meadows was a delight. We stayed in the cottage which was nicely appointed, quiet and serene. The breakfast was wonderful. Nancy, the innkeeper, regaled us at breakfast with a history about the property and stories of the surrounding area which in itself is beautiful. I would definitely recommend High Meadows Vineyard Inn for those looking for a peaceful, friendly setting close enough to Charlottesville to enjoy it's attractions yet far enough away to avoid it's bustle.

We have stayed in many bed and breakfasts, but this was by far our favorite. The main house is gorgeous, clean clean clean, and plenty to look at and see. Owners were very charming, interesting and perfectly friendly. Food was absolutely delicious. We stayed in the cottage, renting both rooms and just adored them - super super warm and friendly, comfortable and plenty of space and amenities. In the evening, we sat out with our friends in the gazebo and enjoyed some wine and beer we had purchased at the wineries and breweries....perfect perfect ending to the day. It was a great birthday trip and we look forward to staying at High Meadows again!

Our weekend at the High Meadows Vineyard Inn could not have been more perfect. The bed was super comfy, the gourmet food was amazing and the friendly staff (including the outdoor cats) can't be measured. It is the BEST!

This was a get-a-way for a few days for my husband and myself. We started with 2 nights here and it was a perfect start. Nancy was sweet, helpful with planning our days, which made a huge difference for us since we came in from Michigan., and her pride in the inn was evident.

Thank you so much Nancy and family for a wonderful stay at your Inn. The house is so very warm, colorful, and light. The Willow room was full of coziness and atmosphere. The bed was the best ever. It was difficult getting up in the morning, but could smell breakfast cooking, so we just had to get ready and get down to our great breakfast. Fantastic job, a10+. Thank you so much. Mo and Bob

My husband and I stayed at High Meadows for a romantic weekend in the Garden Suite. Nancy was a lovely hostess, and I've never had a B&B owner invite inquiries or calls 24 hours a day. She was happy to talk to us about the inn, the town, and provide suggestions on where to eat and where to go. The room was nice and the location of the inn is very pretty. We've stayed in many B&B's in different states across the country, so we have a bit of a high bar. While there was nothing wrong with our stay, for the price the room and the accommodations met expectations. This is a great place for a nice weekend away - the feel is very homey, and like you're staying with favorite relatives.

A nice, large, immaculately clean room awaited our arrival at High Meadow's. Large windows overlooked a dear deer trail. On the second day we noted that Bambi AND her mother were alive and well. We took a real three day vacation this time. No t v in the room , but a nice Bose radio allowed for some softer moments. The huge king size bed was extremely comfortable. It was cool enough with the windows open to need the two quilt for the evening. Lots of comfortable sitting space and a clean , nice bathroom. Breakfast was great and the coffee delicious. We hit the winery route early - kinda early. The scenery is incredibly beautiful with enough shops and wineries to keep us busy all day. We had a gourmet lunch at the Pippin Hill winery- the magnificent view of the Blue Ridge was really worth the trip. Thanks Nancy for your great tour ideas! The little town of Scottsboro is just minutes away. We had a wonderful meal at Amichi's (?) and another at the Smoke House ( wow, thanks chef ). We will be back! Next time we go to High Meadows we will have to cover the breweries, Charlottesville and many other great mountain stops. I can't imagine the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains during full fall leaf season. Thanks to Nancy and the staff for your wonderful treatment during our stay. It was over and above . Our best wishes. Bruce and Emily Annapolis, Md.

High Meadows provided us with a great peaceful place to stay while we explored local wineries, cideries & Charlottesville. The place is really LOVELY! Our hosts (Nancy & her daughter) were very helpful providing us with great tips on where to go. We loved our room and enjoyed walking around the pretty grounds. Another plus was how easy it was to get into Charlottesville from High Meadows....just take the road (Route 20) that the B&B is on all the way into the historic district of Charlottesville. We loved High Meadows & are very much looking forward to a return visit soon!

This was my husband's and my first time staying in a B&B so we were not sure what to expect. We were warmly greeted by Nancy, who we assume was the owner. We stayed in the cottage which was charming, but also in need of some repairs as the casement windows were opened a bit, but with broken cranks we were unable to close them. Although we had to be in Charlottesville the next morning at 9, breakfast was served at 8:30 and we were assured we would be able to make it. After rising and showering (indeed the shower was roomy with great warmth and water pressure) we made coffee using the warming pot provided in the room. I realize the cottage next to a wooded area, but finding a bug floating in the newly made cup of coffee did not entice us into the main house for breakfast. Instead we drove into Charlottesville and paid for breakfast. We would NOT have made it to our destination by 9:00 even if we would have dined and dashed, much less be able to listen to the history of the house and any information about the surrounding area or nearby wineries. (I was under the impression that most B&B's try to make reasonable accommodations in situations such as this, but no offer was made to serve us a bit earlier.). We did have dinner at Nancy's son's restaurant and found the food and service to be excellent, hence the dining rating. We especially found the manager and the wait staff to be warm and friendly and told us a bit about the surrounding area. We hesitated about writing a review, but felt not saying anything isn't helpful to those involved either. So many of the reviews read indicate a much different experience so I am assuming we may have just hit the inn at a bad time and had a difficult time with the star ratings. We will certainly try another B&B experience, but were hoping for more from this first experience.
