A peace of heaven
on August 31, 2015
Hi, we would highly recommend this b&b. The owners cant control the noise around it, be it students or fire engines but what they can control they do brilliantly. It is a special place located very close to Careytown and the centre of Richmond is a short car ride. Definitely worth a stop over for a night or two.
Great location, private and relaxing
on August 26, 2015
Very well located near to VMFA and Careytown restaurants and shops. Bedroom and bathroom were spacious and well-appointed (including plenty of bath towels). Really enjoyed the comfortable balcony off the bedroom. The communal parlour was well-stocked with snacks and drinks and a very nice coffee machine with a wide variety of coffee and tea choices. Looking forward to our next visit.
Long Weekend Trip
on August 22, 2015
My wife, my son (11 yrs. old), and myself stayed in "The Cellar"….It was FABULOUS. The Cellar is in the basement and just like any old home, the floors above can be a bit squeaky, but overall, I would recommend this location and definitely stay there again, if traveling to Richmond. The breads and drinks in the fridge were perfect when returning for the evening and for breakfast before going out for the day. We stayed 3 nights and could have stayed longer, it just felt like "Home" to us. Thanks for everything Sean & Polly, you are top notch hosts.

My wife and I, our daughters, and their spouses stayed at The One for a weekend. We had the three rooms on the second floor, which was a nice arrangement. The rooms were fine. The breakfast was more than adequate--lots of fruit, yogurt, breads and pastries, boiled eggs, ham, and cereal were available. Lots of snacks and drinks were available for us throughout the day. We would return to this B&B.

Theplace is pretty, well located for fun walking adventures. Staff is very friendly, rooms are very pleasant, common room is really well stocked and easy. Just a nice fun place!
Great stay but too short!
on July 19, 2015
We dropped our daughter at VCU for freshman orientation and snuck across town to The One. What a great location--we walked thru Cary Town which is just a few blocks away. The art museum is just a few blocks in the other direction and we hope to see it the next time we are in town. Sean and Polly provided every amenity we needed. Breakfast is light but was plenty for us (ham, breads, fresh fruit, OJ, etc.). We do plan to return and hopefully spend two nights.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review about your stay with us! We are thrilled that you enjoyed your visit and look forward to your return!
Staying at The One

Very nice B & B. Lovely balcony to have a pleasant drink in the evening.
Great place for a girls weekend
on May 25, 2015
This is the second time Linda and I have spent the weekend at the One bed-and-breakfast in Richmond. Centrally located in the Fan; lovely and well appointed rooms and some great balconies to sit back and relax on. We always have a great time when we stay here.
Overall, expectations were definitely exceeded!

Very convenient location
Easy to enter the building (safely, with a code), didn't have to meet with anyone for check-in OR check-out
WONDERFUL, generous assortment of snacks and beverages (including wine and beer and a Keurig machine!), in the common room.
Lovely room, nicely updated, thoughtful touches like bathrobes and a flashlight plugged in (random, but smart)
I called the day before to request early check-check-in and was kindly told that our room would be given cleaning priority, and we would receive a phone call when it was ready. Never got a call. No biggie, in the grand scheme!
Not a traditional, hot, sit-down style Breakfast but that might be preferable to some people... it was a LOVELY assortment of continental breakfast type foods, set out at 8am for guests to enjoy when ready. Not really a con, come to think of it!
Second wonderful visit
on April 09, 2015
This was our second visit but our first staying in "the cellar", at my husbands request. Great set up, having both a bedroom area and a living area works perfect for us. Plus the location so close to Cary Street, the art museum and so many restaurants is fabulous. Breakfast, snacks and drinks are there waiting when you arrive. Perfect.
