Our "Crabshack" is full of fun stuff for guests to use including fishing poles and tackle, crab lines and nets, chairs to take to the beach, coolers, yard games, tiki torches and skewers to roast Marsh-mellows over the fire.
Our private little beach is a great place to enjoy a fire, a drink with fellow guests, watch the birds and boats go by, catch the sunset over Tabbs Creek, and then stargaze the night away.
The Chesapeake Bay Blue Crab is in season from May to October, and we strive to steam them to perfection. We host several Chesapeke Bay Seafood feasts per year, and have a great time pickin' crab and sippin' a cold one.

We have been in Mathews County VA many times and on the occasion of our granddaughters high school graduation, we stayed an the Inn at Tabbs Creek. The accommodations, the owners and the location were all wonderful. Our only regret was that we were so busy with family events that we did not have all the time we wanted to enjoy this beautiful place. Although we have family living in the immediate area, I will be looking for excuses to stay at the Inn again.

June 06, 2013
My wife and stayed here for 2 nights. Our accommodation was the "Captain's Room". What lovely views. The front view overlooks the creek and docks, to the right, you look over the pool and flower garden and to the left, an inlet from the creek, where you can watch herons getting their breakfast. Lorrie and Greg are delightful hosts and really make guests feel right at home! Wonderful experience. We would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

May 21, 2013
Returned to the "Inn" for another visit this past week, May 13-16, 2013, and found that Greg and Lori have continued to make improvements on top of improvements. When we thought it was perfect the first time we visited, we now don't know if it is correct to say, "it is more perfect than ever before." Phenomenal breakfasts, beautiful grounds and Greg serves fresh berries from his own garden, comfortable with a capital "C", kayaks for cruising the area, new yard chairs all around for you privacy, fire pit for evenings filled with celestial wonderment ...wow ! When we have to depart, we are already planning a return trip to this gem along Virginia's graceful Chesapeake waters.

5 out of 5Pleasant Surprise !!!!
May 20, 2013
The 2 day visit was a Christmas gift from our Son, Daughter-in-law and Grandson. They had not been there nor had we so didn't know what to expect. Greg and Lori made it an enjoyable experience for us. It's very quite, the room deco was tastefully done, the food was excellent and the fishing on their dock was rewarding. We did miss the TV in the room to keep up with the world news but they do have one in the main house if needed. we are sure that most people visiting the Inn want to get away from the TV and phones (if possible) for a few days so it's not a negative not having a TV in the room. We would recommend a visit.

We simply needed a place between Washington and VA Beach and this was in the right location, but what a gem. We will go back intentionally the next time and stay longer.
5 out of 5Perfect low-key getaway
May 16, 2013
Greg and Lori really have a fantastic property! The grounds are amazing, the rooms are clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and made with items that they grow on the property! They go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and relaxed. My husband and I wanted a low key spot for a getaway and this was the perfect fit. We wished we were able to stay another day and would love to come back again.
5 out of 5Romantic getaway
May 15, 2013
We booked a room at this Inn based on the positive customer feedback on this site and pictures of the Inn and it's grounds. We were not disappointed. The serene and secluded environment is the perfect setting for a romantic getaway(our 25th Wedding Anniversary). We stayed in the Chesapeake Suite and thoroughly enjoyed it. Climbing into the comfortable king size bed after a relaxing soak in the Jacuzzi tub was amazing. Breakfast each morning was wonderful. Lori and Greg the innkeepers are gracious as well as being fun hosts.

Shortly after entering village of Mathews, you will come to an intersection with a Hardees across the street to the right. Take a right at this intersection to stay on VA 14. You will then see on your right Tatterson’s Greenhouse and Garden Shop, and right after that Woodstock service station. There is a wall that is located right after this service station that blocks your view of Turpin Lane. Carefully take an IMMEDIATE RIGHT TURN right after the wall onto Turpin Lane, between the second and third “No Parking” signs that are posted, and directly across the road from route 608. It is an easy turn to miss, so if you pass it, just take a left at the Post Office on your left, turn around and try again! Once on Turpin lane, it will soon turn into a dirt road. Take the third right at sign for Tabbs Creek, (384 Turpin Lane), and continue to end of the lane. Give us a call with your approximate arrival time, so we can be sure to greet you!.
