Inn At The Olde Silk Mill

The only problem we encountered is waiting for the hot water. We realize this is an old inn and the pipes are very old. Other than that, the stay was very pleasent and the town is very interesting and historical. We will definetily consider staying there again.

A charming B&B it isn't, but it's an OK place to stay. Be aware that bedandbreakfast.com charges a hefty commission vs what the B&B charges.

There is a commission rate paid to BedandBreakfast.com when a reservation is made through their website. I did over hear from the front desk staff that this guest was a little disgrunted about the rate he paid was slightly higher then what he found on our website. I do wish I would of had the opportunity to discuss this matter and perhaps offer a discount. The bed and breakfast website is a very convenient, relialbe site. However, if the guest is not satisfied with the agreed upon rate at reservation time or check in, then would be a good time to dispute. I understand that feeling like you have been overcharged does not set you up for a positive visit. You are welcome to return and inquire about our AAA, Military, repeat customer and other discounts.

The pictures make all the rooms look a big bigger than they really are. I wasn't dissatsified but just expected a bigger room. It was a nice, clean, and comfortable room that we love. Everyone was very nice and accomodating (sp?). We had a great time and will definintely being going back.

My husband and I recently stayed at the inn and were delighted with our experience. This was our first time at a 'bed and breakfast' type of lodging and we weren't sure quite what to expect. Anna was a lovely hostess and very knowledgeable about the area. Nancy, the housekeeper, was a sweetheart. Our room, although not the one I originally chose, was like "sleeping in grandma's bedroom,'( the room with the bed in front of the three windows) turned out to be a great choice for us. We both agreed that we had three of the best nights of sleep we had had in a long time. If I were to change anything, it would probably just be to offer home baked goodies instead of tinned cookies, but that is a very minor point. We plan on visiting the Inn again when we're in the area and would certainly recommend it to others.

The second we arrived at The Inn At The Olde Silk Mill, we were graciously greeted by the Innkeeper's beaming smile and warmth. She was extremely hospitable, welcoming and helpful in suggesting all of the must-do's in Fredericksburg. (We would in turn even run into her later on that evening at one of the local pubs!) We stayed in the charming King George Suite, which was tastefully decorated in beautiful rich tones and exuded a definite sense of regalness and class. The suite was exceptionally clean and the bed was by far one of the most comfortable and "heavenly" sleep experiences that I have ever enjoyed. My only area of noting was the continental breakfast, which featured your standard fruits, bagels, cereals, danishes and beverages - all consumed off of styrofoam kitchenware. So, while the breakfast was nothing to write home about, overall, we had a very lovely and relaxing stay at The Inn!

The Inn was beautiful as we expected and the staff was extremely knowledgeable about it's history as well as the area.

The staff was warm and friendly. They recommended local places to visit. Our room was beautiful but the only glitch was the thermostat cover was missing.

Very pleasant hotel, nice lounge to sit and talk with your friends or other guests and a magnificent staircase in the main lobby. No lift, however, so remember to pack lightly! The staff were most helpful and informative about the Hotel and things within walking distance. There were many leaflets and books in the small lounge which told you all about the American Civil War and where the many battles were fought in the area, one in the town of Fredricksburg itself. I loved the George Washington impression given by the hotel owner and his proclamation at breakfast, added a personal fun touch to a friendly hotel. I also liked the fact that if you were a bit late for breakfast, there was not that "hurry up" feel about the service. That added to the charm for me as being punctual mars the holiday for me. An old building which retains the charm of the Old American look. The Floors are wooden which means no sneaking in quietly after lights out! I had a peek around some of my friends' rooms and was pleased to note that each was different. Some large double tester beds, four posters, twin beds, all with lovely lace curtains and that Old South feel. They had the old 60's phones in the rooms, but I am not sure if they worked. Ours was not plugged in and I had not the need to test it out. To see the rooms, please do look at the website as they have all the information there and much better pictures than I could take. I would definitely stay again.

Nice location close to Historic District, friendly staff, comfortable stay, free continental breakfast, period decor and overall fun place to visit.

My husband and I were able to get a break from jobs, 3 kids, 3 dogs etc to spend a relaxing night at the Inn. We had a terrific time! The room was great, we were within walking distance to downtown, breakfast was relaxing, we met great people from various locations, and the hospitality was outstanding! I would highly recommend staying there and we look forward to our next visit!

My husband an I recently spent one night at the Olde Silk Mill Inn and we hurt so bad because the mattress was very hard. It was not a good night's sleep to say the least and we will not return there. This is unfortunate as Fredericksburg is a lovely town to visit. If we came again, we would find somewhere else to stay.

I am sorry to hear the comfort for our guest was not accommodated. We have a variety of mattress types. Mattress types range from the thick pillow tops, semi-firm, to firm for those with special needs. Our staff is familar with the rooms and the types of mattresses in them. I do wish we had a chance to be aware that the guest preferred a specific type mattress. If they found the mattress to firm, we certainly could of swithced rooms to a softer mattress. We actually have guest inform of a mattress type they are comfortable with prior to arrival. We realize the importance of a good nights sleep, and it is unfortunate we had a guest leave unhappy. If the guest would like to visit Fredericksburg again, we would like to extend the offer to stay at the Inn at a discounted rate and check in to a pillow top mattress room type.

We spent a week here during the 100yr Boy Scout Jamboree. There were lots of Scouters staying here and plenty of fun conversations with people from around the country. The innkeepers and all staff were wonderfully pleasant and helped in any way possible and their inn was beautiful yet very comfortable.

I just spent a quiet, relaxing weekend at the Inn and couldn't have been happier. The owner and staff were all so nice and helpful too. They really made you feel at home. The rooms were beautiful and very clean and beds were the most comfortable I had slept in in ages. Nice breakfast in an elegant dining room was a good surprise. Our suite had a refrigerator and celing fan and the AC was nice and cool. All in all a great, interesting place for a good price. A do over for sure!

We had a very nice time at the Inn. The staff was so friendly and informative. We were very pleasently suprised with the breakfast, a continental breakfast does not usually have so many choices . It was delicious, I had fresh bagles, hot oat meal....and my favorite urbal tea. I really loved how clean the place was as well.This Inn had olde town charm, fantastic staff, and a cozy atmosphere. I would highly recomend to anyone passing through Fredericksburg!

We recently went on a spur of the moment vacation on the fly.We stopped at the Olde Silk Mill just by chance.We were both pleasantly surprised by the entire experience.We ended up spending 3 nights as we explored Fredericksburg. A great town for history and shopping.The place was quaint, clean, and great rooms.The person at the front desk even gave us a looksee at some of the rooms before we picked one.They all looked very accomadating.Its definitely a no brainer for a teturn trip.

My husband and I stayed here. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Our room was very clean, which was a major factor for me. Yes, the floors were creaky but it did not bother me at all. The bed was super comfortable. The continental breakfast was just fine for me and I really liked the pastries that were served, and the orange juice was especially delicious. I wanted to extend a special thanks to the hostess. We arrived past check-in and she graciously waited for us. She was superbly kind to us and very knowledgeable about the area, as well as Washington. The only con for us is that on our first night, we were very cold. If you arrive during the fall/winter, call ahead to make sure your room is warm and toasty beforehand. We do not feel this was intentional in any way, just a small oversight. We were there two additional nights and our room was very warm and comfortable. Should I visit the area again, I will definitely stay here and I highly recommend this lovely Inn.

The room was comfortable, well equipped, and quiet. Staff was helpful and exceedingly pleasant. A lovely place for a weekend break.

Super comfortable beds. Comically squeeky floors. Small rooms nicely decorated with antique furnishings. Attentive staff.

Very nice time. Queen Elizabeth room was perfect! Just perfect for strolling the shops in Fredricksburg. For the price, a bit more attention could be given for the breakfast.

Stay comes with continental breakfast but it's below average.

Although I was there for a board retreat, this would be an excellent place to stay for a family or other personal travel. Wonderful beds, antiques in all the rooms, close to downtown and museums, restaurants, etc. Great, friendly staff!

Rooms were comfortable and nicely appointed, staff was extremely friendly and helpful, all in all a very comfortable stay at a reasonable price.
