We loved both Charlottesville and The Inn at 400 West High. It was a nice walk into the market area. The room was fantastic and breakfast was excellent (gluten free for me was not a problem). Carolyn and the staff were very nice and helpful. We stayed on our way to Atlanta and more to the point we didn't hesitate to stay there again on our way back home. Can't wait to visit again next year !
We were thrilled to have you visit on your return trip through Charlottesville. I hope we are in your path frequently in the future!

We enjoyed a comfortable, relaxing, and elegant weekend at the Inn at 400 West High. Despite the rain on Steeple Chase day, our weekend was delightful. The breakfasts were delicious, the ambience very friendly, and the Inn's walking proximity to the historic mall and great dining made this visit worth repeating.
So sorry about the rain! We believe that Charlottesville on a rainy day is better than a lot of places on a sunny day! It was so nice to visit with you and we hope to see you again soon!

A wonderful stay and breakfast in Charlottesville. The McIntire room was beautiful with a private entrance, sun drenched porch, and fireplace. With its central location, historic charm, and warm atmosphere I can't imagine staying anywhere else.
Thank you for your kind words! It was wonderful having you visit! We do reside in a beautiful area and we are always happy to share it. Hope you will plan a return visit soon!

We (at UVA) arranged for a visiting Ambassador to stay at the Inn; he loved it so much he hopes to bring his family there to stay on a future visit to DC.
We so appreciate working with The University of Virginia and loved having the Ambassador visit. We do hope he can return with his family!

Every year, I treat my husband to a birthday getaway, which happens to fall near Valentine's Day. This year, we visited Charlottesville, VA, and stayed in The Inn at 400 West High, a beautiful B&B located mere steps from the Historic Downtown Mall and a short drive from Monticello. Carolyn, the owner, does everything in her power to make sure that her guests have an exceptional experience. We stayed in the Altamont Room, which features a working fireplace, a king size bed, and brick floors. The room was cozy, comfortable and very peaceful. We even woke up to birds singing -- birds! -- which was a pleasant change from the sirens and traffic we usually awaken to in DC. Other features are an a-m-a-z-i-n-g shower as well as the most delicious breakfasts we've encountered anywhere, courtesy of Anne, a talented gourmet cook. She also made the BEST strawberry cupcakes for Valentine's Day. We had a wonderful time and recommend it highly.
It was so fun to have you visit and I so enjoyed talking with you! D.C. isn't that far away, so come back soon! Charlottesville has so much to offer and we have 4 more rooms for you to try!

Calling from Maine, my first telephone conversation with the owner of 400 West High, promised I could expect an unforgettable stay at this extraordinarily unique bed and breakfast in the heart of charming Charlottesville. I was warmly greeted by a family members and shown to my cozy room. A lovely fireplace was glowing near the large, inviting bed. French doors led out to an intimate veranda overlooking the city. Touches of Tuscany were everywhere. Good friends joined me for a gourmet breakfast in the B&B "gathering room" before my departure. Thanks so much, Carolyn, for the memory of a perfect stay.
Pat....It was wonderful to finally meet you! You are the definition of light and love and positive energy! I'm glad your travels to Maine went well and I hope that you will stop by when you travel south again. Let's keep in touch!

My husband and I stayed at The Inn at 400 West High for the weekend of our wedding, and it was absolutely perfect. The people who worked there were so warm and welcoming, the food was delicious, and the room was beautiful. Our photographer got some wonderful pictures in the courtyard before the ceremony, and Carolyn was kind enough to snap some pictures of us together before our rehearsal. I can honestly say there isn't a single thing I would change. We had a fantastic time and are planning to come back in a few years for an anniversary getaway.
It was so wonderful to be able to share in your special weekend! God bless you on this new journey and we hope to see you very, very soon!

We really enjoyed our stay here. Based on previous recommendations, I picked 400 W. High as a place to propose to my fiance (she said yes!), and I wasn't disappointed. This is a beautiful B&B. The rooms are attractive, warm, comfortable and quiet - we stayed in the Altamont Room. The common areas are perfect for a small group or for a larger family get together. The breakfasts were wonderful, and we appreciated the availability of drinks (coffee, tea, water and soda). We really felt as if we were a guest in someone's home. The Inn is just a 2 minute walk to the downtown pedestrian mall and easy access to the University of Virginia as well as local historical sites. We will definitely be back for another visit.
This is what I love about being an Innkeeper! I LOVE the happy stories! I'm so happy that your weekend went so well and wish you both all the happiness that life can bring! Thank you for your kind words and knowing that you are considering making Charlottesville your new home.....let us know how we can help you get to know the area!

My wife and I had a great one night stay at the Inn. Every detail was covered, room was very clean, coffee, water and snacks available 24/7 and staff could not have been more helpful. We were very pleased with 400 West High and would recommnend the stay to anyone. KD
We are so happy that your stay was what you wanted and needed! We are looking forward to your next visit and hope it will be soon! Thanks for taking the time to share your experience.
