The Inn at 400 West High

Room was large and comfortable, and very clean. Whole house has a welcoming feel to it. Breakfast area is dozy, and breakfast was amazing every day. Near the Downtown Mall, great food and shopping is within walking distance. Balcony was lovely, and the owners were amazingly friendly and helpful. We will be staying again!!

My husband and I have stayed at this inn two times so far. It is a special inn that exudes charm in every nook and cranny. The rooms are beautiful, and breakfasts delicious! Carolyn, the owner, is warm and welcoming!! The inn is located within walking distance to the downtown mall and all the great shops and restaurants. Couldn't be better!!

We stayed in the McIntire Room. It was beautiful and had everything we needed. The homemade cookies were amazing along with tea, soft drinks and water were available all the time. The decor is perfect and Carolyn is an excellent cook and hostess! It's in walking distance to the downtown mall.

I live in Richmond and my parents were visiting from out of town so I wanted to take them to Charlottesville for a night. I found the Inn at 400 West High just by searching the internet. The place was charming and comfortable, we had our own private access to outside where our car was parked and the location is within 2 blocks walking distance of the downtown mall. Carolyn was so sweet and it is apparent that she enjoys what she does. I'm so glad that I found this place instead of staying in one of the nearby chain hotels. It made our experience in Charlottesville so much better.

The Inn at 400 West High could not have been more perfect! I stayed two nights in the Ridge Apartment for my wedding weekend and it was everything I could have hoped for. The apartment has a full kitchen, and lots of space, which came in handy. Breakfast both days was phenomenal. The Inn is decorated beautifully and was one of the best "home away from home" experiences I've had. I would highly recommend this Inn to anyone looking to get away for some R&R!

My husband and I stayed in the McIntire room and couldn't have been more impressed. It is obvious that Carolyn took pleasure in decorating every nook and cranny of the wonderful B&B. The decor was bright and cheery and so peaceful it just wraps you in warmth. She could not have been more accomodating. Loved sitting on our private deck and drinking the wine that was complimentary!! So much attention to detail that it is a must for anyone visiting the area! We will be back for our annual trip to Charlottesville.

We stayed in the Preston Suite at The Inn at 400 West High while visiting our daughter at UVA.The suite was comfortable and spacious. The Inn is conveniently located within a short walk of the Downtown Mall and many lovely restaurants. The hospitality provided by Carolyn, the innkeeper, was outstanding and nothing was too much trouble for her. Her breakfasts were delicious and the complimentary coffee and cookies much appreciated.

Such a Perfect Place for a intimate wedding! The hostess did a marvelous job and did everything to make sure all the details of our small wedding went off without a problem. Everything worked perfectly for us. Perfect breakfast too! the Fresh fruit salad with yogurt and waffle. Yum! Other things you can expect are fluffy towels, bathrobes to lounge in, unique bathrooms, the best comfy mattresses and large pillows, quiet areas, cleanliness beyond fault.

We recently stayed at the Inn at 400 West High and loved it! The rooms are lovely, warm and welcoming, as is the host Carolyn. Beautiful, comfortable bedding and a great shower. So much attention to detail and we felt very taken care of. Very close to the pedestrian mall in Charlottesville and an easy drive to Monticello. Thumbs up!

I cannot imagine a more inviting place to spend a few days in Charlottesville. As a matter of fact, I would travel there for the sole purpose of staying at 400 West High! Ms. Carolyn, the innkeeper (and a fabulous conversationalist), has collected a wonderful array of fine furniture, art, fabrics, plants, glassware, china - you name it - and has arranged it in the most pleasing and useful ways throughout the property. Each room has a lovely private entrance and affords quite a lot of privacy. The bedding was simply stellar and the shower was divine. Modern inn appeals to a younger crowd than most B&Bs. Recently updated in timeless design, it's a great hideaway right in the heart of downtown Charlottesville. Feel light and lively as you escape to this home-away-from-home that -- thankfully -- is void of the dark furnishings and heavy draperies typical of so many B&Bs. Every room has a private entrance and unique charm; you rally can't go wrong. Breakfast is served in elegant garden style, however its charm far outpaces its taste.

My husband and I enjoyed a great weekend of sight-seeing in Charlottesville, and found that the Inn at 400 West High was the perfect place to start and end each day. Ms. Polson was more than welcoming; her southern charm and hospitality helped make us feel right at home.

Comfort, friendliness, amenities, decor, food -- all were outstanding! I felt like an honored guest in a country home. One stay and I think of Carolyn as a friend. One I plan to get to know better.

My new husband and I stopped here on our honeymoon on our way down south and it was just a delight! Caroline is a gracious host, skilled cook, & willing & knowledgeable tour guide. The breakfast was beautiful & delicious. The building & its decor are amazing! We will be back!

Still basking in the relaxing glow I felt from staying at this beautiful, charming inn in the heart of Charlottesville. What a find, and so convenient to everything -- my favorite retreat!

To gather calm & strength before a family Christmas, we booked a two-night stay. A well travelled couple, 400 West High was perfection. Great, I mean GREAT comfy bed, amazing breakfasts and a festive sitting room attached to the kitchen meant we could relax and read or spread out and plan our Charlottesville/Monticello excursions. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

What a wonderful respet from the day to day. While centrally located, the cozy, warm atomsphere gave me the feel of being away from it all while within walking distance of wonderful shops and eateries. Beautifully appointed rooms with a wonderful main room for eating and visiting. A high recommendation from this world traveler.

We came unannounced and fortunately Carolyn had a room available at 400 West; she said she could have it ready for us in an hour. What a surprise, the room and inn were outstanding! Everything was clean, neat and very tastefully decorated. We stayed for 2 nights and were overwhelmed with the hospitality and morning meals. Great time, gladly recommend the Inn at 400 West to anyone looking for a nice quite place to unwind.
