Afton Mountain B & B was the perfect place to unwind and relax after a long day of driving. Room was quiet, comfortable and clean. Breakfast was outstanding. It was convenient to the Parkway as well as Charlottesville attractions. So glad I chose this place to stay!

Very comfortable home, warm and friendly hosts (Orquida and Dan). Old home, but in great condition. Nice outdoor pool. Quiet surroundings with nice yard. Close to BlueRidge Pkwy and Skyline Drive entrance. Several wineries and breweries nearby. Good breakfasts staggered so that everyone is not at breakfast at the same time. Allowed for easy communications between guests.

This was our 3rd stay with Orquida and Dan. They are the greatest couple and so nice. Our room was spotless (as always) and the atmosphere is like being at home. Breakfast is delicious and there has been something different each time we stayed. We'll definitely be back again soon. Thanks so much for making us welcome.

The innkeepers are very warm and friendly, and understanding of the bumps on the road of life that may cause delays, etc. The grounds and back porch are very relaxing, and the front porch takes you back to simpler times. Dan and Orquida were very obliging with our dietary needs and breakfast was very good. The room was lovely and very comfortable, and those home-made cookies were delicious!

My wife and I definitely enjoyed our stay at Afton. From the better-than-average B&B parking to the painless check-out, the time there was very enjoyable. The room was comfortable, the amenities were excellent, and the real effort on the breakfast was very much appreciated. We will visit again.

My family recently spent a lovely weekend at the Afton Mountain B&B and Orquida and Dan went out of their way to make our stay memorable. This B&B is immaculate and the innkeepers have thought of everything a traveler could possibly need or want. Breakfasts were delicious and plentiful and, when our daughter and her fiance requested gluten free meals, they were provided and were incredibly delicious! We would recommend this B&B to anyone who is looking for lodgings in the area--the rooms are very comfortable and the beds are wonderful!! S. O'Connor

Weekend Stay - March 14-16, 2014

My boyfriend and I came here for a relaxing break over a long weekend. The B&B is a cute house off the main highway, so it's really easy to drive anywhere you need to go. The rooms were really nice. The breakfast was DELICIOUS and gourmet. We had plenty of coffee, juice, fruit parfaits, muffins, and the amazing main course which varied (rolled omelets one day and waffles the next). You should come just for the breakfast. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, water, sodas, and (in the evening) delicious homemade cookies were available. In terms of amenities of the house, there is free, fast wifi, a communal computer, and a communal TV. Every bedroom has its own bathroom (no shared bathrooms!). The dining room is a more intimate setting where you sit and chat with the other guests. The couple who runs the place is fantastic, very accommodating, and knowledgeable about activities and restaurants in the area. The house has beautiful architectural elements that make it very charming. The location was good in that it was a beautiful setting and there were a couple of restaurants and wineries within a 10 minute drive. You have to drive about 30 minutes or more to get to really good wineries and longer to get to Charlottesville and Monticello. The local cuisine for dinner can get a bit old, so I recommend driving a little bit more to visit some other restaurants. All in all, it was a great stay! One of the best B&Bs I've stayed in.

There was a local power outage the first night of our stay, The B&B had no backup generator. The owners were able to offer us only cereal and scones for breakfast. We were not able to shower before going on our scheduled winery tour at 11:00 and we were told that we could not flush the toilet. Given the circumstances, I would have expected the owners to offer us a substantial discount on our first night stay, but no such discount was offered or received. However, on the bright side, the B&B was impeccably clean and offered a very quiet, laid-back, and relaxing atmosphere. Breakfast was very good on the second day of our stay. We actually had a nice experience in spite of the power outage. Even during the outage we had a very pleasant morning relaxing by a gas fire place.

We moved to Central Virginia from near Washington, DC in the Summer of 2002. We immediately fell in love with this area, and are constantly delighted by the sights, the activities and the friendliness of the people. We hope you'll enjoy the area as much as we do.
