***NOTE: Most recent reviews are found on Trip Advisor*** As owner & operator of the Ivy Mansion B&B at Dupont Circle, it is my joy to welcome business and touring travelers to "Gracious Living" – 3 over-sized guest suites with private baths, 1 spacious apartment; flowering patios and decks; contemporary parlors with inviting fireplaces and game room; complimentary wi-fi and full-service business center – ALL AT "Gentle Prices," which routinely are at least 30% less than nearby hotels in Dupont Circle, DC's most well-known neighborhood. The Ivy Mansion B&B is just 2 blocks from the Dupont Circle metro station on the centrally-connected Red line, and 1 block from the excellent shopping and restaurants on Connecticut Avenue. Embassies, historical houses and gardens; art galleries and Rock Creek Park – DC’s urban forest – are minutes away by foot. The White House and the U.S. Capitol, the Downtown business and entertainment districts, the Convention Center, conference hotels and Smithsonian museums are either a short walk or 2-4 metro stops away. I love my adopted city and am eager to engage with my guests and offer itinerary suggestions. At the same time, I know how to give space to and simply be on hand for those guests who wish to focus on business or personal reflection. For me, it's all about helping my guests create a memorable Washington, DC experience! P.S. The Annie Bell lives up to its namesake, the proprietor's grandmother. The quiet elegance of this east-facing second floor guest room shines through the gold tones of the bedding and the period chandelier, the chocolate silk curtains and the creamy white woodwork around the wood-burning fireplace. Yet the whimsical &quot;red lips&quot; chair alludes to Grandmother's sly sense of humor. A queen-sized Tempurpedic bed with massage features and a marble-top writing desk complete the room; access to full bathroom in the hallway is just outside the door.
The garden-level, English basement apartment is both cozy (gorgeous brick walls, upholstered seating, wall to wall carpet) and spacious (8-foot ceiling, open floor plan.) With the bed, sofa bed and futon--all Queen-size--this 1-bedroom apartment comfortably sleeps four guests but can accommodate 6. It has a private entrance as well as a private patio. In addition, apartment guests are welcome on the front patio either to dine, watch the passers-by or simply take in the street architecture. Children of all ages are welcome!
This large second floor guest suite evokes the strength of character and quiet impact of its namesake, Ella Josephine Baker, a civil rights and human rights activist for over 5 decades: the strong, clean lines of the espresso queen sized platform bed and the twin sized daybed. The modern, reflection-on-reflection bath. The earth-toned rug that complements the warmth of the 100 year-old pine floors. The added convenience of tv, wireless Internet and a writing desk does not detract from the calmness, unless of course that is one's desire.

A warm, welcoming, very generous hostess. Enthusiastic encouraging advice about Washington, given to a first-time overseas visitor to a great USA city. Cooperative in every way and an excellent varied breakfast.

Top floor a must for a quiet stay . Great house but wood floors are creaky/noisy. Very good location by Dupont circle. Dana, the owner, was very knowledgable about local area and very friendly. Breakfast was very basic, could use some good coffee. Dana is a tea person.

After three nights here, I know I will be coming back to spend a week really getting in everything DC has to offer. The directions were simple enough to follow from the airport, just make sure you have your bearings once you emerge from the Metro. B&B location was perfect, 2 or so blocks from the Dupont Circle and all of its fun stores and restaurants. This was my first time staying in a B&B as well as visiting DC area, and Dana, the gracious host, was helpful in every way. She is extremely knowledgeable about surrounding food and fun locations and makes sure you are totally prepared for DC exploration. The B&B is an old-style, midtowny house that really makes you feel welcome after a day of walking. The actual suite was beyond belief with a luxurious bathroom and more space than I could possible use. It would be ideal for a romantic getaway.

Loved this place - Dana is a great hostess, always willing to share her knowledge of the city, find activities to suit each guest, and check on details such as opening times and such. We never went wrong following her recommendations. Our 2nd floor room was lovely and comfortable, and we felt totally at home in the house and in the neighborhood. Beautiful area, very close to the Metro, Teaism a few doors down, wonderful restaurants...we enjoyed the city, but walking "home" every evening made the difference between our wonderful DC experience and the impersonal one shared by everyone else at the convention we attended. To say nothing of the fact that we paid less than half the best rate they got at their souless hotels... We'll be back. Thanks, Dana!

This was a wonderful location, convenient for sight-seeing, and a fun area for eating and shopping. Dana was friendly and made me feel welcome and comfortable, even finding additional information on places I wanted to visit. She helped me with any subway and bus questions which made my visit even smoother.

We have never stayed at a B&B before - so we didn't know what to expect. We loved it - Dana was a great hostess - personable, helpful and great conversation!

My sixteen year old son and I spent 2 days in DC at the Ivy Mansion B&B - elegant, clean, welcoming, ideal location. Dana, the proprietor, made us feel at home.

The Ivy Mansion B and B is a great place to stay if you are in town for business and research, as I was. The proximity to the Dupont Circle Metro is a plus, as is the innkeeper's hospitality. I would not recommend this location for a romantic weekend or superb breakfast--the room is more workaday than that and the breakfast is continental--but as a single woman traveler who was in town for work, the cleanliness, location, comfort, and hospitality provided at the Ivy Mansion were more than I expected for the cost. I will definitely return!

The building is lovely, and located very close to the metro, which is a big plus. (Sunday, there was a Farmers' Market at the Dupont Metro!) The neighborhood is quiet, despite being just off a busy street, and I slept very well there. I stayed in one of the queen bedrooms; it was spacious and comfortable. The hostess was very welcoming and solicitous of my comfort, but gave me my space to come and go and enjoy the city. I highly recommend the Ivy Mansion. I'll stay there again, myself, and tell all my friends to stay there. I love it!

The host is pleasant, helpful and non-intrusive. The home is lovely and peaceful and ideally located. I intend to return.
