The Blue Hen Bed and Breakfast is located in Newark, Delaware on Route 273 approximately 1.7 miles west of downtown Newark in an area historically known as “The Wedge”. It’s easily accessible to the University of Delaware as well as the neighboring states of New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Maryland. Originally built in 1692, this B&B is situated on the remaining 2 acres of land that was once part of a 255 acre farm. After completion of the new building addition in 1840, the Blue Hen offers 3 main guestrooms, with lavish queen sized beds and private baths. Extended stay and Friends and Family discount sharing packages available. A honeymoon suite with kitchenette and private screened in porch overlooks the patio and back yard. Pets are welcome.

Amy and Don make you feel like family, only better, because nobody in my family can bake like Amy or cook breakfast like Don! Seriously, though-- the folks at the Blue Hen go out of their way for their guests every day, from the fully stocked guest fridge to homemade everything, to the thoughtfully arranged Canine Lounge. There's a lovely surprise around every corner: twinkling lights to guide you home at night, family antiques to marvel at, peach ice cream for breakfast, the offer of a to-go cup on your way out for the day. This is my second stay with them and I'm looking forward to many more.
