Wow. From the moment we arrived and were greeted at the driveway, you could tell that Gwen takes great pride in what she has created. It is a fantastic place with attention to every detail. It is cozy, serene and peaceful. The mornings are breathtaking as the sun shines through the trees and on to the lake. The nights are in incredible with the stars and moon. It is truly our favorite place that we have stayed, immaculately clean, comfortable bed, quality linens, all complimented by Gwen's exceptional hospitlity.....we can't wait to go back!

Even though the mrs and kids pleaded with me to stay longer than the 1 day. Unavoidable circumatances did not allow us to do so. There is no doubt that Gwen has invested incredible amount of time and thaught into making nettles nest the perfect getaway. I could'nt think of anything that she has overlooked because as soon as you get there it's kick off your shoes revel in the beauty she has created for not just me. But for all of us who have the fortune of being able to take the time to put all of your worries aside and take in the enjoyment of what she has created for us. With that being said be assured that me the mrs and the kids can't wait for our next visit. Much thanks Gwen. See you soon!

It is Monday morning. I am, back home sipping coffee and reminiscing my weekend at Nettles Nest. I arrived there late Saturday afternoon with my dog. Nettles Nest is, as the website pictured. What it did NOT include, was Mother Nature's planned events for its guests. Saturday at dusk - I set the things on the cabin deck for the night. On cue - the stage was set for the night show to begin. The starter singer was on stage. I dressed for the night and sat out on the deck - front and center stage. The main event began. It was a duet of the frogs and crickets with several background singers. I was not alone. The night was clear and the stars came out to enjoy the concert. The coyote howled. It too listened to the music of the night. I woke up early Sunday and started my morning routine of Tai Chi and Qi Gong. The only sounds were the birds welcoming the morning the sun. After a quiet breakfast on the deck, my dog and I set out for a walk on the trail. I heard a grumble of motor in the distance. But as it got closer - I realized it was thunder. We were a quarter mile out on the trail when the rain started. We ran and reached the pavilion drenched just in time for Mother Nature’s first act. I settled on the swing with my dog on the floor beside me. The birds were silent. The only sound was the rain tap dancing on the lake and on the roof. The banana plant and the garden by the lake rose from their withered form, like graceful ballerinas to show the world their own glory. Before the final act, I decided to enjoy it with a cup of fresh hot coffee. I was not disappointed. It ended with the soft tap of the rain - dancing to the gentle song of the thunder’s lullaby. Before long, the birds chirped as they clamored for an encore. IF only my son were still here in this earth with me. I could not have asked for anything more. My son’s spirit was with me in Nettles Nest. He was Mother Nature’s special guest.

I loved staying at Nettles Nest. I would definitely go back. It was a great place to stop over for the night and I would consider taking an extended family vacation there. As soon as we got there the kids took off and explored the lake and woods. After the car trip, that was definitely worth it. The room was clean, cozy and comfortable. We have 3 kids, but we didn't feel crowded. I'd much rather stay at a BnB like this than go to a hotel. It is relaxing to have so much space to yourself. Gwen was a great host. She helped us to get settled in even though it was after 11pm when we arrived. I loved how the fridge was stocked with drinks and snacks for us. Overall, it felt like home.

Terrific! Absolutely loved the peace and quiet. We felt so secure facing the lake with the woods at our back. We enjoyed the trails and adventure of geochaching between rounds of Horseshoes and paddleboating. Thank you Gwen for the perfect breakfast of fruits and cinnamon rolls & for stocking the fridge with drinks, as well as setting us up with popcorn for movie night! You rock, We loved it. Everyone should 'get away' to Redwater.
