It was fun to be Bobby & Dawn’s first guests at the newly opened Rockwall Bed & Breakfast. Upon our arrival we were treated to sangria, fruit and cheese following a tour of their home. The house had been lovingly remodeled by Bobby over the last few years as they planned every detail of their new venture. His background in the construction industry was demonstrated by his craftsmanship from floor to ceiling ? from handsome inlaid tile in the entry hall and baths to crown molding throughout. Are you a smoker? He even built a gazebo in the garden behind their home for your guilty pleasure. We stayed in the bridal suite in a decadently comfortable bed. The Jacuzzi tub was an added benefit. We did not take advantage of all the small touches, but there were books and board games available, and while the rooms do not have TVs, there was a DVD library and a large flat-screen TV in the gathering room. The next morning, our breakfast with our hosts was substantial and flavorful. We felt as if we were visiting good friends rather than renting a room for the night. This would be a great place for road warriors who are tired of commercial hotels, or for anyone who wants a quiet place to get away. Dawn mentioned her connection to a plastic surgeon in the area that was looking for a place where a patient could recuperate before reentering their social circle. What a great place this would be for just that. We had a very pleasant stay with two friendly and caring people. We wish them the greatest success with their new venture. They have gone out of their way to create a comfortable and inviting environment where you will be treated like friends rather than guests.
