River Road Ranch Resort

  • This side view of the Bunk House bed and breakfast offers just a glimpse of the old town atmosphere that the River Road Ranch Resort offers. An authentic chuckwagon and cargo wagons sit on the edge of the cabin. The covered front porch extends the length of the house and has a table and chairs for great porch time with family and friends. A fire pit for cooking or making s'mores is illuminated by the unique cowboy nightlight.

The original ranch structure was built by German settlers in 1876 and the new structures were all constructed to replicate buildings from the past, including a general store, a Feed Mill,a blacksmith shop and a Bunkhouse. Each unique b&b cabin captures the rustic elegance of the past, updated with modern conveniences. Located only four minutes from the quaint shops of downtown Fredericksburg, the ranch features beautiful Pedernales River frontage great for fishing and kayaking. The ranch is also home to a variety of farm animals that love to interact with guests. It is our desire that all who stay at the ranch will relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings in harmony with nature. Our philosophy is "Come as guests, leave as friends."

We had an awesome time at the ranch! We were only able to stay one night, but it feels like we've stepped away from our lives for much longer. Boots the wonder dog was our first sight when we unloaded....and she was our guide the whole time! We got to feed Daisy & Duke (donkeys), horses, baby goats, & Boots got some goodies also. Smitty & Natalie are awesome hosts and even had stuff ready for s'mores for the huge firepit. This place is awesome...all attention to details were thought of and beyond. They went out of their way to make our trip soooo fun in unexpected ways for everyone! We all (ages 23-60, men & women) loved all of it! Super relaxing also. About 5 minutes from Main Street, but worlds away from anywhere. We are already wanting to go back and the great thing is....less than 2 hours from austin (where we live)!

I had so much fun here with 4 friends that I returned 5 months later with 6 different friends. Smitty and Natalie are wonderful hosts. The bunkhouse is perfect for a "girl trip" with friends. Smitty told us all the fun things to do in the area, and there are plenty. We enjoyed Boots, the cats, and all of the other animals. It's fun to take carrots to feed the horses and donkeys. The ranch has so many interesting thing to look at, and the rooms are clean and decorated in a fun rustic style. I hope to return for a third visit soon.

    Best birthday ever!

Their website says that you will arrive as a guest, but leave as a friend. That's not some catchy slogan -- it's the truth. The lodging was wonderful, clean, homey, comfortable and peaceful, We loved the artistry and historical detail combined with modern luxury and convenience. You can rest comfortably, or if you have an urge to exercise, River Road is great for running and cycling. The canoes and kayaks provided can give you a workout while allowing you to simply sit back and enjoy trhe river. We will definitely return, not only for the rest and relaxation away from home, but to visit with our new friends -- Smitty, Natalie, and Boots the wonder dog!
