"We really enjoyed our stay in the Whispering Pines Tree House! The tree house was absolutely beautiful—nice little kitchen, lovely living area, big, comfy king-size bed, nice jacuzzi and shower. It was wonderful to be up in the trees—felt very private and romantic. Lovely sounds of crickets and birds and the fountain from the nearby pond. It was a quick ride from there to the charming town of Berlin, and to the Holmes County Rail and Trail biking path. Very enjoyable! Can't wait to go back again!"
2013 Top 10 US B&Bs
We are pleased to announce the winners of our ninth annual awards for B&Bs and inns. The selection criteria for the Best of BedandBreakfast.com Awards included both a quantitative and qualitative analysis of traveler reviews from the past year and inn listings on BedandBreakfast.com. Below is an excerpt of a glowing review for each of the winning inns.
"This B&B was such a great find! I surprised my husband with a couple of nights away for his birthday in September 2013 at Burlington's Wills Graves B&B. Nancy and Bob made us feel so welcome. The Log Cabin Suite where we stayed was amazing. From a scrumptious breakfast, to a library of DVDs from which we could choose to watch a movie, our stay was fantastic. Nancy's recommendation for dinner at Tousey House Tavern was great. We enjoyed a wonderful meal on the deck on a cool fall evening. For those who do not like cigarette smoke, this is the place to stay. The entire property is non-smoking. That was a huge plus. We'll definitely stay at Willis Graves Inn again."
"This was my husband's and my first time staying at a bed & breakfast, so we didn't really know what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised! We were greeted by the friendly innkeepers, Troy and Kathleen. The house is extremely inviting and cozy—their attention to detail can be seen in every single room. While Kathleen gave us a tour and showed us our room, Troy prepared an appetizer to be enjoyed in the lower level bar area, what a lovely surprise! His cooking is amazing! During our stay, we had unlimited access to wine, beer, soft drinks and water—another great surprise we didn't know upon booking. We stayed in the "Ask Anna" room on the lower level and it was beautifully decorated. The bed was very comfortable and we had a jacuzzi tub. Breakfast every morning was delicious, we loved everything about it! Troy helped us plan our activities one day; we really recommend letting them help you since they know so much about the area. We only have great things to say about Chestnut Hill B&B and its owners, and we cannot wait to come back for our next visit!"
"We loved Gabriel's in Provincetown, MA. Our room was wonderful and had a fireplace and nice bathroom. But what we really enjoyed was the staff and owners. We were made to feel so welcome each and every day we were there. The breakfasts were wonderful—eggs one day, omelets the next. Plus there was cereal, yogurt, waffles, or pancakes—more than we ever expected to be offered. We chose to eat outside in their beautiful garden deck area. Other visitors and staff gave us great ideas about what to see and do during our visit. It was just the best place to stay."
"I had never imagined any B&B being as well tuned to guests’ needs as The Inn at Tabbs Creek. It’s the perfect joining of location and owners with all the right talents. The main building is a restored historic house and there is also a freestanding addition with three suites fronted by a delightful garden and backed by water views. This place exudes peace and tranquility. For the night we arrived we had requested one of their picnic baskets (which included incredibly delicious shrimp salad and lovely mixed greens) and a bottle of wine, and we picnicked on their deck and basked in the sunset. It was heaven. Yes, the location is wonderful, but what makes the inn so special is the owners. Lori, Greg, and David are the epitome of graciousness, intelligence, and creativity. They provide so many amenities; it is like no other B&B you have stayed. The breakfast is beautiful—and delicious, locally grown produce—and Greg is a professional cook with an impressive resume. These folks are intelligent, creative, generous, and despite all that they do, they radiate calm. I can’t wait to go back."
"We have stayed in B&B's in Europe and the US. The Prevailing Winds Lodge was one of the best experiences we have had. The service was attentive without being intrusive. The food was well prepared and delicious. The environment was restful, calm and well appointed in an appropriate upscale rustic manner. When we arrived we were tired and a bit stressed out. By the time we left, three days later, we were refreshed and relaxed. Our only regret was that we had not planned a longer stay. You must experience this lodge yourself. It is a true treasure. Our best to the owners, may you have continued success."
"Where to begin? Everything about our stay was fantastic from the food to the location to the accommodations! Our hostess Dawn did everything possible to make our stay a memorable one and certainly accomplished that. The 3 course breakfast is homemade and the care that goes into it is as good as you would get in a five star hotel. The wolves are not to be missed and we recommend a pre-scheduled private tour. If you love wildlife, the cost of a private tour is minimal compared to the opportunity to learn about the wolves. If you are looking for a quiet, restful and scenic place to stay do not miss this one!"
"The absolute best stay away from home I've ever had. The Villa is a beautifully appointed and well kept mansion whose quality is unparalleled. Walking through the gates is like diving into the rabbit hole and emerging in a wondrous world of amazing architecture, modern amenities, and fine dining. Its accommodation, location, food and especially the staff are all the standard caliber by which all other B and B's should be set. There is no better place to stay. Period!"
"My girlfriend and I decided to do something different for our 6th year anniversary. We usually do more "event-like" celebrations, i.e., Broadway shows, driving to exotic restaurants, etc. This year we decided to try out something low-key and relaxing and The Whistling Swan came to mind. We arrived on a Friday afternoon and spent a good amount of our time taking it easy and enjoying just being at the inn. Later that night we ended up back in our room with a chilled bottle of wine and chocolate covered strawberries that had been provided for us by the Whistling Swan. We had a wonderful night relaxing in the hot tub. The next morning we enjoyed a delicious home-cooked breakfast buffet courtesy of Rosalind. The entire staff was nothing short of kind and generous. It was a wonderful gift to the both of us this year and we will absolutely be back."
"As a returning guest my expectations were already high based on my first stay at the Wine Country Inn. How could I know the second visit would be better! From the warm hello as we registered until the last wave goodbye, everything was exceptional. My husband mentioned we had enjoyed a special vegetable juice on our last visit and the next morning the chef had prepared the juice. We had friends visit us and entertained on one of the lovely outdoor patios and the staff was happy to assist with wine glasses and snack plates. Our room in the Hastings House was wonderful and had a magnificent view of the vineyard and hills beyond with morning sun and a private balcony. Our friends, staying at other locations in Napa were so envious. We will be back and so will they!"
