"I like to stay to at B&Bs because if it's a good one, it becomes part of the travel experience and is not just "a place to stay." A La Carte is a great one. Staying there enhanced our stay in Montreal by meeting new and interesting people (guests and owners), exploring a nice neighborhood we probably would never have seen, giving us a relaxed place to unwind, and not least of all, providing the helpful and detailed local tips on transportation and restaurants that can make your stay easier. The room is warmly decorated and very comfortable (and includes a Jacuzzi and a wide selection of DVDs). Same with the common area; very relaxing and comfortable. The breakfast is delicious, fresh and hot, and served with fresh juice, fruit, and coffee (or tea). The owners really care about their business and it shows, and they make you love it too. It is within easy walking distance of the Botanical Garden and other museums near the Garden"
2013 Top 10 Canada B&Bs
We are pleased to announce the winners of our ninth annual awards for B&Bs and inns. The selection criteria for the Best of BedandBreakfast.com Awards included both a quantitative and qualitative analysis of traveler reviews from the past year and inn listings on BedandBreakfast.com. Below is an excerpt of a glowing review for each of the winning inns.
"Ian and Anne, the innkeepers, are quite possibly the most friendly and cheerful people I've ever met in all my travels! My family and I showed up after hours because we missed the early ferry. Ian met us at the door and had our suite all setup and ready for us. Throughout the trip they all went out of their way to make our stay as easy as possible. They made our dinner reservations and treated all of us like family, even giving my daughter 'treats' when she would run up to the kitchen to grab a soda. The breakfasts each day are the things of legends! The food is AMAZING and the service reminded me of eating at my grandma's house, but with 5-star restaurant quality food. We've all agreed that we will never stay anywhere else when we visit Victoria. I promise, if you stay here, you won't be disappointed! PS - No trip to Abbeymoore would be complete without a fresh scone from Anne's kitchen. They put every other scone I've ever had to shame! As far as I'm concerned they are the food of the gods!"
"I have stayed in a lot of B&B's in my lifetime and Albion Manor is hands down the BEST. Fernando's warm and sincere personality paired with Don's amazing breakfasts, on top of the "wow" factor with their garden, porch, parlor, and art puts Albion above the rest. The 2-3 course breakfasts are like no other. I have never had pancakes that light and fluffy, the scones are mouthwatering, the peach with a hint of curry custard is incredible, and the quality of ingredients used makes their breakfasts a culinary experience. We traveled with my mother-in-law and we all stayed in the Renoir suite. We had lots of elbow space with a kitchenette, kitchen table, two sofas, large bathroom, walk-in closet, and a king size bed. The pull-out mattress and the bed was top quality and very comfortable. I almost didn't want to write a review so this place can be kept a secret gem but this kind of goodness needs to be shared."
"David & Michael at the Dashwood Manor were beyond welcoming, helpful, engaging, knowledgable and friendly. The house is gorgeous and full of history. When we first arrived we spent a great deal of time admiring the glorious and beautifully kept gardens surrounding the house. The rooms were beautifully appointed. The linens were crisp and fresh. The breakfast that Michael prepared was scrumptious, made with fresh herbs from the garden. David was kind and engaging. Two lovely men in a wonderful house in the best possible location! We will definitely return to the Dashwood Manor!"
"My wife and I stayed at Golden Dreams B&B the second week in June and can't say enough about how much we enjoyed it. Conveniently located to Whistler Village, yet set far enough away from the town that the nightlife never interfered with our stay. Lovely room, wonderful hostess, and great breakfasts! Eggs Golden Dreams is to die for. When we go back for another BC getaway in Whistler, this is definitely where we are going to stay."
"Graystone is the best Bed and Breakfast we have stayed at over the eight years we have been coming to Niagara-on-the-Lake to see the Shaw Festival. Nicki is a gracious host, a fantastic cook, a great conversationalist, and a person dedicated to taking care of all your needs. The facilities are spotless, and they are all on the first floor, so steps are not a problem. We have already booked our return visit."
"Robert is the best host and his premises are immaculate. We feel privileged to have found the best ever B&B we have stayed in our many years of travel. Very accommodating and in a superb location. We have made it our choice to stay here every time we are in the vicinity. We have been here many times, and will be back every chance we get."
"This is the best bed and breakfast I've ever stayed at. I travel to Abbotsford twice each year for a non-profit board meeting and stay at Sweet Dreams because it is closer to the office than conventional hotels. My stays at Sweet Dreams have become one of the highlights of my trips to Abbotsford. The owners are so welcoming and hospitable, and have such great attention to detail. They take notice of the little things and keep the inn and grounds impeccably beautiful. The food is to die for. Each morning they serve a gourmet breakfast that is absolutely delicious. I’ll continue to stay at Sweet Dreams for my business trips to Abbotsford and plan on returning just so that my wife can enjoy the inn as I’m always bragging about it to her. "
"We returned to A Touch of English Bed & Breakfast for the third time and as usual had a great stay. Clare and Kelly are the most gracious hosts, their warmth and good humor always makes our stay a great experience. They have very well appointed rooms and suites, lovely décor, very clean and very cozy. The suites are very well equipped with everything one would need for a short or an extended stay. With Kelly's cooking skills and Clare's baking skills be prepared to be wowed. With the three course breakfasts of juice, fruit, yogurt, granola, waffles, eggs benny with smoked salmon and various other delectable hot breakfast delights, you certainly won't leave the table hungry. Enjoy yummy home made scones with some afternoon tea or Sangria in the summer, certainly an added touch. In summer the pool is a welcoming sight and one of our favorite hangouts at the end of the day. A Touch of English is certainly not your typical bed and breakfast. You come as strangers and leave as friends!"
"This is one of those hotels where everything is really fantastic—rooms, service, meals, comfort, space—EVERYTHING! We loved the night astronomy walk with Michael. We saw all kinds of galactic sights that we cannot see back in our light polluted sky at home. My wife and I really appreciated the graciousness of the staff. I surprised her with a trip to Trout Point for her birthday. We had an amazing time of canoeing, fishing, hiking, lounging in the hot tub, and sitting by the fire. The location is spectacular, it is completely peaceful and relaxing. We stayed in a Fireplace Junior Suite which is in the main lodge—very nice, clean, cozy, massive log walls. We really enjoyed the delicious meals, especially one evening when staff asked us if we would like to dine in a private room, Chez la Tousquet. It was stunning with a lit fire and views of the river. At the end of our meal, a group of people including the chefs/owners sang happy birthday to my wife—such a lovely gesture. It was very nice to meet and talk to the owners, they were very welcoming. The staff were so friendly, especially Kara, she answered all of our questions. We cannot wait to go back! This is a true destination location. We look forward to returning."
