We stayed in the Sunroom. It is a great place to escape to. This room has a bedroom, sitting area with a mini kitchenette area in between. But the best part is where the spiral staircase takes you to...a private rooftop patio. We had champagne in... read more

I stayed here for a few days while on business. The only room available was the smallest and honestly, that was all I needed as a business traveler who was also moving to the area within weeks of my visit. Breakfast was always tasty and filling... read more

Visited about a year ago-- LOVED the Ruckman Haus! My husband and I stayed in the smallest room, but for $85 a night, it was well worth it! Ron and Prudence (the inkeepers) were very friendly-- both breakfasts were FANTATSTIC and made to order--... read more

When you stay in our Sun room, you'll think you're in Acapulco. It's bright and airy, done in a color scheme of yellow and blue, and has Spanish tile and other colorful accents throughout. The suite is actually two separate rooms. In the bedroom, you'll sleep soundly in the queen-size, Spanish Colonial bed- particularly if you choose to luxuriate beforehand in the beautiful tiled shower with its three body jets. At the other end of the suite is the room that puts the "sun" in "Sun Room." This room has windows with stained-glass accents on three sides. It is bright and invites you to sit back, kick off your shoes and relax. Serve yourself a cold drink or a hot toddy from your own wet bar and refrigerator. From this living area, a spiral staircase leads to a completely private rooftop deck.
The English Room doesn't have a funny red phone booth but it does have a wonderfully large, four-poster bed that you'll feel like getting lost in. The room has numerous English accents such as the English Highboy armoire, and a comfortable, over-stuffed chair for reading or relaxing. While Ruckman Haus doesn't have a massage therapist on staff, believe us when we say that luxuriating in the three-jet shower is the next best thing. When you stay in our French Room, you'll be in San Antonio, but you'll THINK you're in Provence. The room itself is decorated in blues and yellows, and the windows have stained glass accents. You will say "vive la France" as you sink into your heirloom iron bed, and, if you leave the shades just so, you will be gently awakened by the east sun. The room has a spacious sitting area where you can relax after a day in the city.
Bonnie lads and lassies will feel like doing a Scottish Fling in the Highlands, but it might be better to do the Texas Two-Step instead. The Highlands, occupying the entire third floor, is spacious, bright, and full of nooks and crannies. Built in an "L" shape, it's ideal for larger parties; there are two separate sleeping areas. They both share the rooms's outstanding feature- its unique bathroom with large window, hardwood floors, cathedral-ceiling, and antique clawfoot tub.European efficiency meets Texas charm in our Luxembourg Room. We don't think of this room as the smallest in our house; we think of it as the coziest. The focus of this room is its oversized sleigh bed that is one of the most restful in the house. There is a built-in armoire and vanity, and a bath with a large shower accented with glass blocks.
The East Patio is one of the places where guests may take their breakfast or relax in the afternoon. At one end of our large living room is our guest library and reading area.
The large living room has a fireplace, sofa and lounge chairs, and is the ideal place for guests to gather and converse. Beyond the living room, through the archway, is our dining room.
