Alamo Street Victorian Inn

My bride and I chose the Alamo Street Victorian Inn for a 3 night stay over New Years 2011/2012. We also planned to have our wedding preformed there, just prior to midnight. Dan & Robbie Boone and Sandy were absolutely fantastic. They helped plan and execute the wedding perfectly. The ceremony ended just at midnight and the fireworks, that the city of San Antonio set off for New Years, started and it was like the fireworks were for us. It was truly wonderful. The view of the fireworks from the veranda of the Inn is great. You can see the fireworks perfectly. Dan, Robbie and Sandy are fantastic people and wonderful hosts. They went above and beyond the call to make sure our wedding was just perfect. I serious doubt it could have been any better. They are that good at what they do. The rooms and accommodations are truly breathtaking. Each room is furnished with antiques, including the beds. Everything is beyond description. You really have to see it to believe it. We spent a most wonderful time at the Alamo Street Victorian Inn and visiting with the Boone's and Sandy was a very special treat. We spent many wonderful times chatting with them. Do yourself a really big favor, if you are in the San Antonio area, and you want to treat your favorite person to a really great time, go to the Alamo Street Victorian Inn and spend a night or two. You will really be glad you did. My bride and I are really glad we picked them to be part of our wedding and our special time as they helped make it even more special. This truly and unquestionably is a 10 start establishment with people that really care and go out of their way to see that you enjoy yourself and your stay at the Inn. We are pleased beyond measure and positively will go back again. A really big thanks to Dan, Robbie and Sandy. You all are the greatest!!!!!!!!

I stayed here during the Alamobowl. I loved it. Everything is in walking distance. The inn keeper Sandy was a wonderful host. I will definetly stay here again when I'm in San Antonio.

We recently stayed at the Alamo Street Victorian Inn and had a great time. We were looking for somewhere special to stay as newlyweds and i couldn't have asked for a better place! The area is beautiful and it's a short walk to the river walk which we enjoyed the next day. Robbie the owner went above and beyond to make our guest experience AMAZING, allowing us to stay in her personal room and let us bring our dog! I'd stay here again in a minute! Thanks for everything!

Gracious hosts and manager live on site which is always a plus. They made us feel at home and pointed us to some interesting sites in San Antonio. One of our best B&B experiences.

My husband and I had our first B&B experience here and it was amazing. The owners are fantastic people and opened their home to us. If you every have the opportunity to stay at the Alamo St Victorian Inn....my suggestion is to take it. Don't forget to visit the mexican restaurant next door(Tito's). You will never ever eat conventional Mexican food in the United States again. I can not imagine ever going to San Antonio and staying anywhere else. Thanks so much for a wonderful experience. The location is the best. Breakfast was fair, but had the same thing very day for the 5 days we were there. Needs to be improved. The presentation of the food was poor, food was jammed on a small area, a little hard to get it. No room to put a plate down when selecting food items.

Thank you. We appreciate guest feedback and suggestions. Yes, we agree - Alamo street Victorian Inn has a superb location for walking or trolleying to everything in the downtown San Antonio area. And with free off street parking, it is very convenient for travelers. The breakfast comments surprised us as we believed our " no schedules" breakfast style to be clearly spelled out on our website. Based on this comment we will be reviewing see how we can improve the current explanation of our signature light breakfast so that no one is surprised. We have also discussed the question of serving limited, but different foods daily or offering a wide variety of food items every day. We have chosen offering many breakfast choices each day over the more limited, but unique items daily. This also allows guests to try different items each day of their stay, rather than not ever seeing something they had wanted to try. While guests have indicated they like this approach, we will be asking specific questions. Many of our visitors are celebrating weddings and anniversaries and choose to sleep late. Others are vacationers, anxious to tour San Antonio or business people committed to early morning convention requirements. Over the years we have found that our guests enjoy options - including breakfast in bed, eating outside on the verandah or joining us in the dining room, whenever they choose (7:00 to 10:30 am). Others appreciate being able to choose selectively for their personal diet requirements ( vegetarian, Kosher, gluten- free or low fat ) and thank us for the possibility of choosing a healthy meal. Daily choices include fruit juices, milk, coffees & tea, yogurts, hot & cold cereals, hard cooked eggs, breads, croissants & muffins, breakfast pastries & fresh fruits. We can accommodate those who prefer a more formal hot breakfast with advance notice and an additional fee (as we do not build in charges for a full, hot breakfast served at a set time).

What a great place to stay! First the bed was so comfortable, then the room was beautiful with excellent attention to detail. I purchased the romance package and it was totally worth the extra cost!! They did a perfect job of turning down the room and the flowers were out of this world. The champaign, fresh fruit and chocolates were done right with exceptional care and and attention. Finally, this was the B&B I chose to celebrate my wife and I engagement! Sonda and staff were completely accommodating. She helped fix my fiance's stained dress and even took some professional photos of our big day!! Thank you all so much. We will be back again soon.

We left Michigan to get out of the cold. Picked the Victorian Inn off of the Internet and couldn't have been more pleased. Location was within walking distance of all Fiesta activities. Hosts were extremely welcoming. Felt like home. Only dining available on site was continental breakfast which was very ample and quite good.

The hosts were wonderful, the rooms spacious and beautifully decorated, the healthy continental buffet breakfast choices a welcome break from rich "vacation meals". Every detail was attended to. We loved being 2 blocks from the Riverwalk, and therefore able to walk everywhere.

Spent a night here and loved it. The inn-keeper was great and really made us feel at home, was knowledgeable about the area and gave good recommendations on what to do and see. The inn is conveniently located to the River Walk and La Villita

The location is very fun. we walked to various restaurants at night and to the quiet end of the riverwalk in the morning. The hub of downtown is close but not too close. The rooms and overall atmosphere are delightful! Breakfast was amazing. Can't wait to do it again.

This is a restored Victorian house packed with eclectic furniture and decor. Each room is an individual treasure with five star hotel type amenities. There is free wifi and wired internet access and liberal hot and cold drinks including wine, fruit and cookies available all the time. This is really like home. The house is in an historic district of San Antonio with interesting restaurants and arty shops around. It is about 20 mins European walk from downtown, 5 mins by taxi from the Amtrak station or there is a bus that stops outside the door. Continental breakfast (everything you could possibly want other than cooked) is included and the owners are often there to share their local knowledge and help plan your day. We were really treated like family and enjoyed every minute of staying here.

We came down from Seattle to find summer and had a great time in San Antonio. The B&B was perfect for us. Close in, couple blocks from the riverwalk trail, in a fabulous King Williams district that has turn of the century mansions, which took us up into the main riverwalk area in the heart of the city. Robi and Dan are great hosts, and make you feel very welcome.

My wife and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary in San Antonio and stayed at Alamo Street Victorian Inn. We loved the house. It is clean, well kept, and comfortable. We enjoyed coming in after a day of activity to relax here. My wife loved the porches. We sat out one evening just to watch the activity in the neighborhood. The house is about a mile from downtown and an easy walk. We had easy access to the riverwalk a few blocks away. Getting out of town from here is not a problem. Major highways are close. The neighborhood is cozy and relaxed. We both liked being close to the river walk, but enjoying a little bit of the city in ways we wouldn't have experienced otherwise.

We arrived Friday evening and spent the night in, taking advantage of the jacuzzi tub (we stayed in the Hideaway room) and complimentary wine. The complimentary cookies are delicious but crumbly, so mind you put it on a napkin so it won't be making a mess. The house itself is lovely, and very nicely decorated. The location is great- close to many restaurants and literally in front of a trolley stop. The parking out back is spacious and we never had problems finding a happy spot. Parking in downtown San Antonio can get incredibly expensive, so having ample parking was much appreciated! Breakfast was more continental than at other B&B's we have stayed at in past years but I found it very enjoyable nonetheless. There are 2-3 cereals; a coffee cake or two; croissants and mini-bagels; fresh fruit (grapes, bananas, oranges, apples); yogurt; raisin bread (very good!); hard-boiled eggs; and coffee, milk, OJ. And best of luck, by luck the inn had only 3 filled rooms during our stay and we all seemed to have breakfast at the same time despite the wide hours of availability, so we got that same family-table feeling that most B&B's have. The beds, as mentioned in other reviews, are very comfortable and offer a very restful night's sleep. The jacuzzi tub was very nice and clearly the sellingpoint of the room. The room itself is not very large- the bed takes up a good 95% of it- but I thought it great that it had its own thermostat. I get cold very easily, so it was nice to bring the temperature up a bit. Our one complaint is completely out of the innkeepers' hands: Tito's (restaurant next door) would have loud music until fairly late, and we could hear it well from our room, but I'm a heavy sleeper and upon closing my eyes wouldn't hear a thing. It's a great inn and has a wonderful 'feel' to the place- really a very enjoyable experience with kind hosts (even lent me a screwdriver to fix my glasses), a lovely home, and good company!

This is what a B&B is supposed to be. Good location, nice room with an exceptional mattress, friendly & helpful owners and good breakfasts.

We stayed here in 2008 and I have been meaning to write a review since then! We were so impressed with the hospitality received - it was enough to be really friendly but not too much to be considered intrusive. We loved the breakfast provided and also the sitting room and access to the computer upstairs was really helpful. All communications prior to our booking was via e-mail and I found the communications prompt and clear - very helpful when organising a booking from the other side of the world! Our purpose in choosing a B&B was to be able to stay together as more of a group when we wanted and to retire to our individual rooms as we wanted. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect place. The rooms were lovely and very comfortable -- best night's sleep I'd had in a long time. The proprietors, friendly and fun. The breakfast may not have been as elaborate as in some places, but it was just perfect for me. Restaurants within a 1-5 minute walk were abundant. Good restaurants. I'd highly recommend this place.

Are you a single traveller looking for clean, safe and friendly accommodation in San Antonio? Let Dan and Robbie Boone take care of you at the Victorian Inn just a short 10 minute walk to downtown and the historic sites. After spending the day site seeing and jostling through the crowds at the River Walk, it’s nice to come back to the quiet of a residential neighbourhood and enjoy the local fare away from the crowds. My evenings were spent sipping wine while rocking on the veranda trying to decide what type of food I wanted to enjoy that evening – all within a 2-3 minute walk from the Inn. Breakfast is light which is perfect after the big portions from the night before; however, the morning conversation can be superb should you wish to engage Dan and Robbie in a variety of topics. Being from Canada, Dan hoisted the Canadian Flag from the top veranda and kept it flying until my departure – What a nice touch!!! Robbie took me shopping for some merchandise I was not able to purchase in Canada and I also visited their ranch and fed the cattle. From the moment I met Dan and Robbie, I knew I made great friends. Their daughter Carrie and grandson Samuel also went out of their way to make sure I saw all of the sites on my list by personally driving me to some of the places outside the city. I certainly felt at home at the Victorian Inn thanks to Dan, Robbie, Carrie and Samuel. I’ll never forget my visit – thank you.

Husband and I decided to get away for an evening which we thoroughly enjoyed. We stayed in the Hideaway room. Bed was very comfortable and enjoyed the bubble jet jacuzzi. Innkeeper was very friendly and greeted us in the morning. Light breakfast was nice and home was very comfortable. Would definitely stay again!!!

It was my first time at a B&B. Thanks in part to the staff/owners if wont be my last! My wife and i stayed in The Garden Retreat. We were able to view 5 out of the 6 suites and were very impressed with the amount of space in all the rooms/bathrooms. The owners did everything in their power to make us feel right at home. They even offered us a ride downtown! Now thats what i call customer service(Southern Hospitality at its finest).

We truly enjoyed our stay here. The hospitality was very wonderful. I have never stayed at a bed & breakfast before. This being my first time staying at one, was more than I expected. The owners are very personable & made us feel very comfortable, like part of the family. I would definitely recommend the Alamo Street Victorian Inn to anyone wanting to visit San Antonio. The location is close enough to tourist attractions, but yet in a quiet neighborhood.

We had a great experience at the Victorian Inn. Great Inn keepers and plenty of room for our 3 couples. Great location to Downtown. We loved it.

I frequently travel on business, and was delighted by the hospitality of the Boones. I highly recommend this beautiful Inn to fellow travelers. It was clean, had free wireless internet, and plenty of free parking. I plan to return when I am next in San Antonio. Great location in King William as well!

Had a nice relaxing two night stay at ASVI. This was my first stay at a B&B and they more than exceeded my expectations. I can't imagine why I'd ever pay the same price for a hotel room again. The service here was great; personal yet professional. I highly recommend the ASVI.

We loved the rooms and the sitting parlors. The location was great - just close enough to walk to the downtown entertainment areas and local restaurants. The breakfast was below standard with other B&B's we have visited. But we would definitely go back. The Innkeeper was awesome!

I enjoyed the stay it was nice and cozy. It was far enough away from the down town area to enjoy the quiet but close enough to walk.

We felt really at home. It was our late honeymoon. We really enjoyed the whirlpool in our room. We played the games and watched movies. It was really close to the river walk which we walked on. We would really like to come back someday.

Alamo exceeded every one of my expectations in a big way. Very friendly staff, everything is really close within walking distance if you choose. And what a great house loaded with history and very relaxing as well. Great place to go.

We were impressed the moment we entered the house. The warmth and kindness of the host made us feel right at ‘home’. The ambiance of the house was welcoming with soft music playing in the background and the warmth of the fireplace waiting for us in our room. We felt ‘taken care of’ for the entire weekend. The house is minutes away from the River Walk which allowed us to leave our vehicle behind and walk for the weekend to all our planned destinations. Great restaurants just down the street from the bed and breakfast. We will definitely be back!

We had a very enjoyable time spent at the Alamo Street Victorian Inn. The Inn Keeper was so nice and very helpful.

The Inn was a nice retreat for a mom and daughter (in her 20's) looking for an escape from a hurricane. The room was great. The breakfast was okay (I prefer places that make a fresh b'fast rather than just providing oatmeal/croissants/etc). But the location was perfect! A nice, easy walk to the Riverwalk, mall, and all the "tourist attractions" of San Antonio. Didn't use our car the whole weekend! I stayed in the Hideaway room and thought the bed was comfy, the jacuzzi tub was perfect after a long day of walking, and the tv room was nice and relaxing. For improvements I would say better b'fast, better wine (complimentary but not to my liking), and a DVD player (although more than enough satellite channels). For outstanding things about the inn, I would list location(!), free off-street parking, friendly innkeeper (and family), great porch for eating/relaxing/talking/people watching. :) I would be willing to bet this is the best place to stay in san antonio for B&B lovers; the location/free parking alone saves you tons of money/frustration that would otherwise be wasted on driving/paying for parking. I will definitely stay again when in S.A. And I would love to check out the other property at Canyon Lake!

This was our first time in San Antonio and the first time we stayed in a bed and breakfast. We were very pleasantly surprised with the Alamo Street Victorian Inn. Carrie, the innkeeper was so sweet and extremely helpful. She told us about an alternate route to get to the Riverwalk right along the river where Beauregard dead ends. The room was FABULOUS! We stayed in The Hideaway and everything in the room was super clean and decorated so pretty. The cookies in the sitting room were delicious. Breakfast in the morning was also very tasty. The Internet connection was very fast also. We will DEFINITELY stay here again the next time we come to San Antonio :)
