On March 18, 2009 we received these same basic comments in an email from this guest regarding their stay at Sunset Inn. We replied to their email on March 20, 2009.
We told them that we were sorry that they were not happy with the entry to their room. Of course, there is not much we can do to change the entry to the rooms.
The comments regarding being able to hear the traffic on IH 10 was not included in their original correspondence to us. Since we are 1 mile South of IH 10 if the wind is from the North you can sometimes hear the traffic from IH 10 outside the house, but not inside. This is the only guest that has ever mentioned this.
We are sorry that they were uncomfortable with the prayer before meals; and, if they had mentioned this to us we would have insured that no one offended them. At breakfast on Sunday neither of us were in the room when the other guest said grace before the meal.
On our web site we have attempted to give guests notice that the meals at Sunset Inn are structured to encourage conversations and discussions. In an effort to let potential guests know that ours is a Christian home we have placed a ixthus on the home page of our web site. Our web site is the only bed & breakfast web site we have ever seen which has an ixthus on it.
Again, while we are sorry for any problems this guest may have had during their visit; we wish that they would have expressed their concerns to us immediately so we could have taken action. We try to provide service to our guests which is above the norm; but, we can only address a problem if we know there is a problem.

"SHOCKED!!"
We were shocked to see that a guest had rated our service as "unsatisfactory" since we pride ourselves on our personalized service to our guests. The reviewer states that "....Milton and Jane went out of their way to attend us,....." At Sunset Inn the guests even decide the times meals are served, even if we have to serve separate meals to accommodate. Unsatisfactory?
Privacy? Our description of Sunset Inn states our meals "...are designed to be a throwback to the "good old times" where friends dined and conversed on life in general...". All a guest needs to do is ask for private dinning accommodations and it is done. A private table is available in front of the fireplace, on the screened back porch, the front porch, the breakfast area or the main dinning room. Sunset Inn contains over 6,000 square feet of total building area. Guests accommodations are down a hall on the southwest side of the improvements and the inn keepers quarters and kitchen are on the northeast side. Privacy? We are sorry that the guests was not satisfied; however, we can not accommodate guests when they do not tell us what they want.
Webster's New Universal Unabridged Dictionary defines Inn as "a commercial establishment that provides lodging, food, etc. for the public." Therefore, Sunset Inn is an Inn. We do agree with the reviewer that Sunset Inn is a very classic and original B&B.
