We booked 2 nights in Casa Jardin. The property manager, Mike, was very friendly and showed us our room and explained that he would come into our room each day to clean dishes, make the bed and provide fresh towels. I noticed mold around the refrigerator doors and based on the high humidity and moisture, I could see how this, along with the mold in the vents of the window a/c unit were likely difficult to keep at bay. The linens for the bed were nice. Décor was tasteful. The room was spacious and would easily meet our needs. Our first night was uneventful. The second night, we discovered a live waterbug in the bathroom sink. Within minutes, another very large waterbug was seen running across the floor of the main living area. Later that night, another waterbug was found in the sink of the bathroom. My husband killed all 3. I am aware that the location, with the humidity, tropical plants, climate, is most likely conducive to both the mold and the waterbugs, but I would rather not pay money to stay somewhere requiring my husband to kill bugs. I did discuss the waterbugs with the property manager and he advised that they have exterminators come once a month and they are due soon. I can appreciate their efforts, but I would rather have been a guest who benefitted from a recent visit by the exterminators. We did appreciate the proximity to local birding areas and were glad to see that this is a gated location, making us feel that our vehicle and lodging were more safe than had a gate not been in place. We both walked the trails on the grounds and would recommend bug spray, as the mosquitos were quite active. We were impressed with how well the trails were kept. There is promise here. A little more attention, bleach and bug spray would make it more promising.
