Milam Home Bed and Breakfast

  • Inn Details

The Milam Home is located in the heart of Livingston, a small but progressive East Texas town. This designated, historical landmark was built in the early 1900's or earlier and is solid cypress. The wrap-around porch welcomes you to the relaxed, comfortable atmosphere that is present here. Each room of the Milam Home has been restored from floor to ceiling and takes you back to a more carefree, peaceful time that offers an escape from the present day hustle and bustle. The rooms are furnished with antiques from the "Antebellum" era with a touch of Victorian decor and the windows boast of wooden shutters that offer optimum privacy. The Milam Home is a non hosted bed and breakfast giving guests a feeling of "home away from home." Our desire is for guests to feel pampered during their stay while allowing them a feeling of privacy as well. Debra Nelson, the innkeeper, arrives in the morning to create a bountiful homemade breakfast guaranteed to fill the most hungry appetites. Guests are always reluctant to leave the genuine Southern hospitality that is displayed at the Milam Home. Please come visit us in a place where you can relax and escape the big city, relish the pleasures of country living, and be treated like royalty.

We stayed in Noreen's suit which was absolutely wonderful. The pictures don't do it justice. The bedroom was cozy and the bed was very comfortable. There is small living room/ kitchenette area that is separate from the bedroom which was nice. Noreen's suit is separate from the main house making it a very private retreat. I loved the private porch! My favorite thing about our stay was by far the bathroom! The jacuzzi was wonderful and there were even candles to add to the romance. The innkeeper is very attuned to details and that is what really made the difference. The only thing some people may not like about the suit is that there was not a shower, only the tub (which was fine with me but it may affect people who are in hurry). And the breakfast (muffins and fruit) was delicious! Overall, very enjoyable stay and I definitely would love to return.

We had a great stay. The hoses was beautiful, the beds were incredible, and everything about the house (from the bathtub to the decorations) was adorable and charming. Would love to go back!

The home was absolutely gorgeous! Decorations in antiques & attention to detail was amazing. Debra (innkeeper) was wonderful. Peaceful & calming retreat from the big city.

My stay was on a Saturday night and I must say the bed, UNLIKE many B&B's I have stayed in before, was very comfortable. The house was a real great but the real treat and treasure were visiting with the owner; Debra, right after breakfast. The story of the history of the home in addition to her quite tasty and filling breakfast were a real treat! I will be returning on a regular basis due to Debra's wonderful hospitality in addition to the peaceful surroundings in and about the facility! If you are looking for a great B&B in Livingston, Milam Home is a MUST!!! Andrew Lochridge 11 Nov 2007
