Inn Details

The Milam Home is located in the heart of Livingston, a small but progressive East Texas town. This designated, historical landmark was built in the early 1900's or earlier and is solid cypress. The wrap-around porch welcomes you to the relaxed, comfortable atmosphere that is present here. Each room of the Milam Home has been restored from floor to ceiling and takes you back to a more carefree, peaceful time that offers an escape from the present day hustle and bustle. The rooms are furnished with antiques from the "Antebellum" era with a touch of Victorian decor and the windows boast of wooden shutters that offer optimum privacy. The Milam Home is a non hosted bed and breakfast giving guests a feeling of "home away from home." Our desire is for guests to feel pampered during their stay while allowing them a feeling of privacy as well. Debra Nelson, the innkeeper, arrives in the morning to create a bountiful homemade breakfast guaranteed to fill the most hungry appetites. Guests are always reluctant to leave the genuine Southern hospitality that is displayed at the Milam Home. Please come visit us in a place where you can relax and escape the big city, relish the pleasures of country living, and be treated like royalty.

    Front of HouseFront of House
The Porch - The porch wraps around the house offering a beautiful place for conversation or a place to sit quietly and soak in the picturesque oak trees that have a history all their own. Watch the birds move about in the trees and the squirrels scramble about in search of a meal. If you listen, you might even hear the train moving through town. The Dining Room
Dining Room - Many dinners were hosted in this room. Family would gather at every holiday and friends from the community were frequent receipients of a good meal and conversation. You will enjoy a good, homecooked meal just like these earlier guests as Debra prepares you a full, breakfast guaranteed to satisfy your hunger. The Foyer
Parlor - The foyer opens into the parlor which gives a very open, friendly atmosphere to the room. Along with the dining room, the parlor is the common room here at the Milam Home. Guests can get to know one another here, if desired. And, there is a piano for your enjoyment as well. The television, with cable, or the antique radio, equipped with a cassette, are available for your listening pleasure. For the avid domino or card player, there is a game table available. The Watts Room
