McCardell Cottage,located in the historical district, is a unique two bedroom Victorian Cottage within half hour drive to Lake Livingston or within walking distance of down town Livingston. The site has received the Civic Pride Award in appreciation for outstanding landscape and beautification of yard and surrounding areas. It is the first and only listing on the National Register of Historic Homes in Polk County, Circa 1887. The McCardell family and descendants were the sole occupants of the home until 1996 when the property was purchased and restored by Beverly Miller, a Baylor Graduate, retired teacher an native to Livingston.
