I spent a blissful two days at the Inn and I have to say it was incredible. My room (Kyle) was accessible yet private, the spa treatments top notch, the food impeccable and the staff attentive yet unobtrusive. The Inn and grounds have a very peaceful vibe...your shoulders relax the minute you arrive. The trails, tree swings and hammocks make for a great individual or romantic getaway. I will definitely return!

very nice accomadations - really enjoyed the fire place and porch - supper was very good along with breakfast - really appreciated the late check out - the only negative was when we returned home and looked at the breakfast menu for Friday morning - we did not get the Steel-cut oatmeal or Assorted Breadfast breads that were listed on the men
Dear Guests, I am glad to know that you enjoyed your stay with us. Unfortunately, it sounds like you might have missed the table with the fresh baked breakfast breads, house made granola, fresh cut fruit, and oatmeal. We will make sure you receive our full breakfast on your next stay!

I have only stayed at one other Bed and Breakfast and it was an ok experience. I was a little apprehensive about going to the Inn above Onion Creek at first, but it was our anniversary and my wife was very excited about it. We drove in from San Antonio and once we hit Kyle and the Hill Country I was becoming more interested. I enjoy the rugged and picturesque terrain of the hill country and this area has it. Pulling into the long winding drive to the inn was perfect as it makes the anticipation build and once you turn towards the large inn then you see the facilities and you are hooked. There is no pressure to go and do anything, they offer some suggestions dependent upon your desires or interests, but if you just prefer to just sit on the porch of the inn or one of the cottages as we did; you will be happy. This is a place to relax, slow down the pace of life to a crawl as the good lord intended it to be. No deadlines, no rush, no nothing….just “Be “The atmosphere at the main lodge is warm, inviting and a nice place to get coffee, tea or some of the homemade cookies! The food prepared by the chefs for breakfast and dinner was top notch, delicious and not a boring routine in fanfare. The spa treatment we received at our couples massage was icing on the already wonderful cake! We met a newlywed couple and another couple who were married the same day as us and hit 50 years. We all agreed to come back next year for updates. I was a total convert for bed and breakfasts and my wife and I have already designated this one OUR annual anniversary spot. From talking to the other guests, they tend to make it an annual thing as well. Some had been coming for 7 years or more. The Inn must be doing something right! If anyone asked me where to recommend; it is without question The Inn above Onion Creek! Troy S.

The Inn Above Onion Creek is a real jewel. We stayed in Maurice's Coach House the room was spotless and romatic. The bed was so amazing we fell asleep before 10pm! The room has a Nepresso coffee macihine, frig, microwave, & sink. Full closet, robes, stunning bathroom with an amazing tub that even has music! The shower is huge with a bench and a river stone floor. There is a small front pourch and wonderfully peaceful back pourch. The food is 4 star with perfect protions. They even have a hot house where they grow much of what they serve. We took advantage of the lovely walking trails and couples massage; which was 5 star! We will return and highly recommend this delightful bed and breakfast if you want to really "un-hook". Victoria Texas

We were looking for a great getaway not too far from home. Our main focus was to lay back and just do nothing for 3 days. We stayed in the Kuykendal suite and it was amazing...the back porch was perfect!! We ended up taking some of the hiking trails on the property, visited a winery, and shopped in Wimberly...All so much fun and so nearby. The Inn staff were all terrific and completely accomadating to everyone. The stay includes gourmet breakfast and dinner for every day you are there and the food was above our expectations. We checked out the location of all the other rooms so we can decide which one for our next stay....we are definitely going back. They have a huge vegetable and herb garden, spa, library, and an amazing fire pit to enjoy in the evening!

The cabin was perfect. Big enough for our needs. Very Clean. With 2 women per room it was great. The staff was very personal and helpful.

The facilities are excellent and in the process of improvements. There are beautiful nature experiences to explore (both on the grounds and the nearby environs) between the excellent breakfast and the not to be missed gourmet dinners. Met and enjoyed interesting guests from diverse backgrounds.

A beautiful setting and every amenity to help enjoy it! The new gas fire pit with timer was particularly enjoyable. Great bath products and we liked the Independence Coffee Co's Jet Fuel so much we tracked it down and bought a bag for home. We would have liked more fresh veg, fruit and herbs with the meals but our fellow guests were on their 5th and 7th visits so the menus are obviously a hit with others. Plus the cooks mentioned that with some advance notice, they're happy to adjust food items. A wonderful place to experience Hill Country peace and quiet.

My wife and I have taken very few trips due to our busy work schedules. When we do get out, we like to do it right. The Inn Above Onion Creek exceeded all of our expectations. This was our first visit, but it won't be our last. We spent several weeks touring European cities years ago. The accommodations, service, and food here were every bit as good.

We spent 2 days at the Inn to celebrate my engagement to my (now) fiancee, and it was fantastic. The reviews in TripAdvisor were spot on - beautiful setting, the rooms were spacious, clean, cozy, comfortable (though not sure why the beds were so high!); the food was very well prepared and of adequate portions; the staff was very friendly and accomodating. We loved taking walks around the grounds near the creek (though it's dry, from the drought) and the peace in the air was truly relaxing. We were lucky to have great weather as well. The guests were also very interesting and friendly. Their DVD collection and satellite dish TV service allowed for a great way to unwind with a movie after dinner. It was a magical way to spend our first days of our engagement! We would love to come back and were sad to leave!

My husband and I have stayed at "Our Inn" as we call it several times-I think close to 20! We absolutely love this place. You may think the rates are high but with a gourmet dinner and breakfast included it can't be beat. Amy will take care of your every need. And you will meet the nicest people too. An A plus!!!!!

A beautiful location with rooms so full of character. Food was as good as any Austin restaurant. Amy our hostess made us fill so much at home . I can't say enough good about the total experience !
5 on February 15, 2013
We celebrated our 3 year wedding anniversary here and had the best time! The scenery is serene and beautiful. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The food was amazing! Our room was upgraded to the Kuykendahl suite prior to arrival after a plumbing issue, so we arrived to a nice surprise and enjoyed every minute of the beautiful decor, remote controlled fireplace, spacious bathroom with jacuzzi tub and huge shower for two. Perfectly romantic getaway! We definitely plan to return again and will recommend this to our couples friends.

This Inn is the first on our list when we need a relaxing getaway. The grounds are wonderful, the food is delicious (room rate includes a 3-course dinner and full breakfast), and the rooms are luxurious. We always stay two nights. We also love their repeat visitor rewards. Once you arrive you won't want to leave!
5 on February 07, 2013
Breath taking is only way I know how to begin. From the moment my fiance and I arrived till the moment we left, we were just taken back by the beautiful location, the hospitality from the staff and other guests and how modern but yet rustic the decor of the entire establishment was. The dining room took me back to when i was a young man having entire family dinners on Sunday afternoons, but it was every night of our stay. When the food came out, it was just an explosion of amazing flavors, fresh produce and they even took into account my fiance's food allergies. We visited the near by wineries and enjoyed our bottle with our dinner. Sitting on the porch during the night and enjoying being so far from day to day worries , our minds were so at ease. The atmoshpere just makes you feel right at home and you may find yourself never wanting to leave. Going from an amazing breakfast to a wonderful couples hot stone massage and then to an afternoon feast at the amazing well known famous BBQ/Winery and watching the sunset on another mountain top winery overlooking the vineyards was just a great cap off to the weekend we spent at the Inn. We are from Connecticut and I have already told many friends and family that if they want a true relaxing get away for a few days that this is the place. 30 minutes from the Austin airport and you have the city there as well. I just cant say enough about the amazing location, in the middle of the wine country and yet you still have the city so close. The couple from Connecticut

I have stayed here several times, in several rooms and it never fails to impress me. I love the rooms, food, the surroundings, and the hospitality. Amy and her staff always makes sure that our needs are met. The spa is also outstanding! The one thing I would imporve on is a larger meeting space. It is difficult at times to fit a group of 14 in the library for meetings. Thank you!

This was our first time here at the Inn. We were referred by close friends who have stayed and enjoyed it here many times. We knew when we drove onto the property that this was the place for us! Very nice, quiet and peaceful. The suite we stayed in was the Kuykendall. It was beyond what we expected and it made you feel as though you never wanted to leave the suite! Food was amazing and staff was very hospitable and friendly! We will be back for sure in the VERY near future! Loved it! L&G

My best girlfriend and I experienced the Girlfriends Getaway package--a birthday gift to my from my husband. We LOVED it!! The food was unbelievable. The spa experience was amazing. The entire staff was personable and helpful - we never had to ask for anything; it simple happened. We left on Sunday relaxed, rejuvenated and ready to visit again!

We sneaked off for 2 days midweek to celegrate our 20th anniversary and it was so relaxing. Amy is fantastic - the Inn's best kept secret, and the food is a close second. My husband surprised me with a spa package, and several hours were spent being pampered one morning. Lots of upgrades being planned - new firepit built and soon to be plumbed for on-demand fires while overlooking the hill country sunsets. I hope they add S'more kits to the cookie jars in the dining hall! Most of the other guests we met were repeat visitors - some as many as 6 and 8 times. We can see why, and are sure to be back - maybe next time with friends.

We got to stay in "The House" which is an amazing house with 3 bedrooms, 2 living rooms and a fireplace which was perfect for a cozy atmosphere. Our stay was perfect except for the fact that when they say dinner is at 6:00 you'd better plan on being in the dinning room at 6 on the dot! My husband and I were not following a tight schedule and we did get reprehended in front of all of the other guests. Breakfast is a bit more relaxed and the food was delicious.

The Inn provides my wife and I with everything we were looking for --a quiet place in the Texas Hill Country with no need to leave the grounds unless we chose to. Breakfast and dinner is included with lunch upon request, lots of deck areas and balconies to enjoy the views with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine we purchased at a local winery. walking trails, and a Spa on site for which we chose the side by side massage. The food was delicious and environment very friendly and causal. We plan to return in the Spring.

Enjoyed the Kuykendall Ste last Dec (2012) and enjoyed the Porter even more this Dec (2013)! You'll love the double-sided fireplace! Remains the most remarkable overnight stay in Central Texas. Breakfast and dinner were a delight ... never knew pork could taste that good! You will love your visit here and no doubt return for more.

The Inn was incredible! Romantic, peaceful, and has everything you need. My wife and I stayed for 4 nights as part of our honeymoon. The first 2 nights in Maurice's Cottage than in the Nance. The cottage was great for the 2 of us. Much more private than the other rooms and has it's own full kitchen and fireplace. The Nance was just as lovely and seemed slightlier romantic despite being on the third floor. The staff was so nice and the food was AMAZING. They were more than accomadating for lactose free meals. We picked up dinner each night and enjoyed in our room and had breakfast at the dining area. THe coffee and granola are to die for! THey also gave us 2 free mugs as a honeymoon gift!!! Thanks So So SO much!

My wife and I just had an incredible stay at the Inn Above Onion Creek in celebration of our 25th anniversary. Thelma's Cottage was amazing with access to beautiful trails. The staff were like family to each other AND the guests. I've never been made to feel more comfortable in a B&B or hotel/resort. The chef is absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! The 3 course dinner was so good, the entire dining room was silent except for the frequent "mmmmmm" and comments on how delicious it all was. I just can't believe dinner AND breakfast were included in the price! I can't wait to go back again and explore more of the trails!
4.4 on December 13, 2012
It was a first-rate stay, just as we expected from our first visit. I have done some customer service and customer experience consulting stemming from when I managed events for a catering company, where I personally served and coordinated events for billionaires, celebrities, and even US Presidents. That said, and with varied experiences in our wide travels, I could not recommend the Inn's appeal, service, and experience higher! I will spread the word.

My husband and I come here every year for our anniversery. One of the few B & B's that offer a full gourmet breakfast and dinner (always delicious). We usually go to Wimberly Trade Days, visit a winery or two, Sunset Canyon Pottery and the outlet mall in San Marcos. Always a great weekend get a way.

5 on October 25, 2012
My husband and I chose this place for our first getaway as new parents. We wanted something close to home, but beautiful and relaxing. The Inn Above Onion Creek exceeded our expectations. It is so scenic driving up, and the view from our room (the Hays room) was exceptional. Each morning I woke up, got a cup of coffee, and sat on the balcony to enjoy the view. Talk abour relaxing. We also enjoyed the resident cats that would really love to sleep on your bed if you would let them. Unfortunately we only had 2 nights, but we will be back for sure as many times a year as we can. Do not hesitate booking this place, you will not be disappointed.

Gracious hosts in a beautiful setting. Wonderful food. It's just one of our favorite places. Anyone visiting the Texas Hill Country needs to make a visit.

This inn offers the best food ever created. I would sleep in the car in the parking lot in order to eat here, but we had the great good fortune to be able to stay in Thelma's cottage. It was so clean and beautiful that I could not believe it. Just about perfect in every way.
5 on October 17, 2012
Amy and her staff made our 35th Anniverary stay a memorable experience! We were overwhelmed by the service, exquisite menu, and the superb Kuykendall Suite; if you want peace & quiet and beautiful sunset views this is your place!

I think the title of my review says it all. This place is absolutely amazing. My wife and I came here on for a mini honeymoon. We are already planning on coming back here for our anniversary. We have suggested this place to many people already. We will definitely be back to visit this place whenever we get a chance. The food is amazing, the views are amazing, and if you enjoy the outdoors then this is definitely the place for you. For people not familiar with Texas, come here. The Texas Hill Country is as good as it gets, and this little Inn will give you the best representation of what our State has to offer. Mike and Michelle Cruz

My husband and I were just at The Inn Above Onion Creek to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. This was our third stay, but we had not been there in several years. It was just as great as we remembered...maybe even better! We stayed in the Nance Suite and it was wonderful. Your innkeepers have thought of everything and your stay will be a time of relaxation and rest. We only live about 15 miles from here...but felt like we were a million miles away from real life! The property includes several walking trails - which we enjoyed. And, we saw many guests doing yoga on the porch looking out on the hill country views. The pool has one end shaded by trees and it's a great place to enjoy a cocktail and cool off. The food at the inn is wonderful. The first night we enjoyed a private meal in the library, complete with a lovely chocolate cake for our anniversary. We looked forward to each of our meals, as everything is so fresh. Bring a bottle of wine and enjoy the great food and service. With Wimberly close for shopping and several wineries just a few minutes away...this is a perfect "escape" for a special occation...or no special occation. We'll definitely be back!
5 on August 27, 2012
Lovely stay in a very quiet location. The inn was wonderful with it's beautiful flowers and warm home feeling. We loved the family style kitchen and that the staff knew us by name in one day. They met my gluten allergies and the food was delicious. The room was great with the a/c cranked down for the hot Texas day. We also enjoyed the pool after touring with the grapes and olive package we bought. Great value! Everyone was so accommodating, we will definitely be back again.
5 on August 26, 2012
What a lovely property! Our room was spacious and light. The small private porch proved the perfect place to enjoy an afternoon glass of wine. How can you beat watching a curious rabbit looking for his breakfast while you sip your first cup of cofee? The bed was exceptionally comfortable and the big sunken whirlpool tub in the bathroom was very relaxing. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent and I love the BYOB option. You can check the menu prior arrival and the Inn is happy to accomodate special diets and requests. The grounds and hiking trails give a great sense of the rugged hill country topography. The pool is perfect. I can't recommend this property enough.

Just returned from an extended honeymoon at The Inn. This was our first trip but definitely will NOT be our last! The food, service, and sunsets were wonderful. We enjoyed the friendly felines, the peace & quiet, the butterfly migration, and the friendly conversation with other guests during meals. We loved that the impeccable service was immediate when needed, but invisible when not needed. Our room was exceptionally clean when we arrived and the housekeeper cleaned it again while we were enjoying the area wineries even though we simply asked her for fresh towels (awesome!). The chef and kitchen staff was incredibly accommodating with our special dietary requests. In addition, they surprised us with our own private table the first night there (with a ceramic name plate announcing it was reserved especially for us) and even made up an incredible dinner tray for us our last evening there when we decided we'd like to have a private meal in our room. We can't believe this place EVER has vacancies -- but are sooooo glad it does! :)

My husband and I had the most amazing stay at Inn Above Onion Creek. Having moved all over the US this has been the best B&B we have ever stayed at. The dinner and breakfast at the B&B were fantastic. During our stay we enjoyed walking the trail directly behind the B&B and visiting nearby wineries. It was the perfect place to celebrate an anniversary. We hope to return soon!

We had heard from friends how lovely the Inn Above Onion Creek was and they were exactly right. We spent two nights during the week which was such a treat for us! The food was excellent! We lovely the online menu and were able to pair our wines because of this. (bringing our own wine was a wonderful perk) The breakfasts were delightful and delicious. We had drinks in the library, enjoyed the beautiful pool with its fantastic view and loved the grounds. We loved the decor of the rooms and rocking on the porches was such a treat. The staff made us feel special and they were very helpful - we couldn't have felt more welcomed! We plan to go again and enjoy the fireplaces in late fall or winter. Great place to relax and rejuvenate. Sherman, Texas fans

I spent a long weekend at the Inn for a corporate board meeting. Would that I could have stolen away from business and lounged in this enjoyable setting. The Inn and cottages have been designed to look authentically historic and are extremely comfortable. Every staff person I encountered--from office personnel, to the kitchen staff, to the woman who arranges the flowers--were guest-responsive and so pleasant. A truly top notch place.

Had a wonderful overnight in the Martin room. Dinner was fabulous and watching the sunset from the balcony was peaceful and serene. The room was comfortable- my only suggestion is to update the shower- the clawfoot tub is more suited for bathing. Had a chance to walk the trail before breakfast and really enjoyed the garden, hummingbirds and butterflies. Really enjoyed the attentive staff and getting to know the other guests. Highly recommend for a tranquil, comfortable stay.

We really enjoyed the tranquil setting and relaxing atmosphere that The Inn Above Onion Creek had.. We just wanted to get away from the big city and have some quiet girl time. We had a wonderful massage at the spa and then swam two times. We had the pool to ourselves both times. The dinner setting was nice and intimate and we met some great people and had excellent food. All the staff were helpful and cheerful in greeting us. Thank you for a nice time. I will recommend to others. Next time we might even invite our husbands!!!!!

We had a fantastic girl's weekend at the Inn. The four of us stayed in Thelma's Cottage and it was perfect. The accommodations were clean and cozy and the dinners and breakfast were outstanding. We had swedish massages that were out-of-this-world and then relaxed all day by the pool (that overlooks the expansive hill country views). Couldn't have asked for a better location or experience. We always felt very welcome and at home. Looking forward to the next opportunity when we can come back!

My best friend and her daughter along with my daughter are getting married soon so we wanted to 'escape' for a mother-daughter weekend to celebrate this momenteous time in their lives. The 'Girl's Weekend' package was perfect for what we wanted to experience. I have to say that Innkeeper, Amy, was great in communicating with me... as well as answering all my questions since we had never stayed there before. From the ambiance to the suite to the spa services to the amazing meals... all was WONDERFUL. Our goal was to relax and enjoy each other's company. We had privacy when we wanted it but when we wanted to have a social experience, it was so easy to visit with the other guests... we met a lot of new friends as well as with the precious animals who reside at the Inn. Would we recommend Inn Above Onion Creek... YES! Would we return... YES! Awesome expereince. -suzi

We were looking for a place that we could go back to time and again. I believe we found it! We love the many porches with rocking chairs where we can watch the beautiful sunsets and other views. It's a great place to just relax. The food is great. With the trails, pool, spa, quiet places, comfortable rooms, breakfast/dinner included, options to add on lunch, you don't really need to leave the property. We will undoubtedly be back and will be recommending this to others.

Everyone we met, staff and guests, were all very friendly. The family style dinning was great because we got to meet and talk with some of the other guests, not to mention the food was outstanding! This is definitely a place i would recommend for anyone who just needs a break from everything!

The inn far exceeded our expectations. The Nance Suite is outstanding with its private setting and breathtaking views of the hill country. The meals, service and attention to detail were excellent. We highly recommend this Inn.

The Inn Above Onion Creek is a fabulous place for rest and relaxation. The food is outstanding. Rooms a perfect blend of style, luxury and comfort. The area itself is filled with things to do from wonderful hikes on the property itself to day trips to the unique village of Wimberley or the great shopping in Fredericksburg. There are wineries and olive groves nearby. Don't miss the fabulous sunsets from the porches at the Inn. We stayed in the 3rd floor Schlemmer room and could not have been happier. We are already planning to go back when we can use the beautiful fireplace in the room! DLH, Cedar Park, TX

We stayed in Maurice's Guest Room and it was perfect for our 2-day getaway. Besides the sitting room with fireplace, we enjoyed sitting on the porch with a glass of wine in the evening and a cup of coffee in the morning. The bed was very comfortable and the entire room was really like staying in a friend's guest house. I love that they had "Bed Head" shampoo and conditioner and not the little hotel bottles. Both dinner and breakfast was delicious and there are cookies, microwave popcorn, tea, water and coffe available all day long if you need a snack. While enjoying a facial at the spa, my husband relaxed in the library to finish a book he brought on the trip. We met some wonderful people while enjoying our meals at a family style table. This was our first visit and we will definately return.

This was our 17th stay at this marvelous B&B, so obviously we are big fans. When we want to get away, we don't look anywhere else. A huge thank you to Amy and the staff as well as the chefs who accommodated my special dietary needs. It was wonderful as always. Thanks so much.

My wife and I stopped in here for a few days after our wedding and both absolutely loved this place. We stayed in Maurice's cottage for two nights, the room was very clean and the beds were comfy. The outdoor setting is extremely nice with a few walking trails and lots of peaceful and serene outdoor activities. The dinners are a family style with many different people all having dinner together. It was a great experience getting to know everyone that was at the inn over the weekend.

This Inn is a gorgeous place for a getaway. It has all the feeling of a quaint and romantic B&B but practically all the amenities of a five star resort. The staff was wonderful and the food was out of this world...What do they put in those scones to make them soooo good? The grounds give you plently of places to relax and beautiful scenery to take in. Eventhough I am one to try new places everytime I go somewhere, I can not imagine booking with another place. I will go back more than once!

What could be better than the Texas Hill Country in the spring? Staying at the beautiful Inn above Onion Creek. The wild flowers, butterflies, birds, and the sound of one lone wild turkey at dusk were priceless. Add in a world-class massage, gourmet dinners and breakfasts, luxurious accommodations and service and you get a little bit of heaven. Maurice's Cottage is the perfect private get-away for two or more guests. Thank you Amy and staff for another perfect stay.

All the staff, to include the chefs, did everything they could to make my stay as luxury as they could. The rooms were exceptionally clean and wonderful! The food was delicious and they catered to my likes and dislikes! I look forward to many more getaways At the Inn!

Location is great! Easy to get to and not far from Wimberly, wine trail, Austin and San Marcos, but is also quiet and secluded. Food is fantastic! Room was clean, spacious and had all the conveniences. Bathroom was clean, had a shower for two with a separate tub. I would definitely recommend The Inn and we are coming back. By far the best B&B we have stayed in yet!

Our favorite get away spot! We're regulars since discovering this terrific B&B 2 years ago. Close to shopping, sightseeing and just plain relaxation. Meals are always terrific. With dinner included, price is a wonderful value as well.

I decided to surprise my wife for our first Valentine's Day as a married couple by taking her to a bed and breakfast. I somehow stumbled upon the Inn above Onion Creek and I am really glad I did. Our time at the Inn was completely relaxing and wonderful. My wife absolutely loved it. She is a bit of a foodie and the food at the Inn for breakfast and dinner was amazing. Our compliments to the chef...they obviously know what they are doing. My wife doesn't even like pork but she loved the pork chops. The prime rib was mouth watering. The baked goods, cookies, scones, etc were light and airy. The accommodations (we stayed in the Nance suite) were peaceful, beautiful, and extremely relaxing. We can't wait to go back, maybe closer to the summertime when the flowers are in full bloom.

My husband and i stayed one night prior to Valentine's weekend and the experience was lovely in every way. The food was delicious, with fresh veggies coming from the garden in the courtyard. Our room was cozy. The fireplace was so comforting in the cool weather. The staff members were warm and accommodating. We appreciate all involved in making the Inn a great get-away.

My wife and I spent the past weekend at the Inn celebrating our 28th anniversary. We were very pleased!! The staff was friendly and accomodating. Both breakfasts and dinners were very well prepared and very tasty. The couples massage was great! All of the attention to detail was greatly appreciated. The room was superb, from the private balcony with rocking chairs to the fireplace and the spa tub for two. Dinner in the library was a great romantic touch and the breakfasts brought to our room added to our stay. The grounds set the scene beginning with the drive along the winding road that leads to the Inn. Great Inn! We typically go to a different location each year, but we will probably break that trend and keep returning each year!

Leave all your cares and troubles at the highway. From Amy greeting as we parked our car to our spa visit on the way out of IAOC, this was the perfect weekend. We were there to celebrate our 27th Wedding Anniversary and it couldn't have been better. All the management and staff were totally customer oriented. Our room was cozy and comfy. Loved the fireplace, feather mattress, and balcony (my husband saw 6 deer one evening). The food was excellent. We loved that we just had to walk down the stairs for a wonderful breakfast and dinner. The grounds are great for taking a walk and enjoying the weather. Loved the cookies you could get any time. Really nice people we dined with each meal. Just a great place. So glad I found it. I already have booked another weekend. Great job to the management and staff!

Amazing! We cannot say enough about the Inn Above Onion Creek. Fantastic Service, unbelievable food, well appointed rooms, luxurious beds, etc, etc, etc. I've been once on a girls trip, and brought my husband back for our wedding anniversary. Both times were absolutely perfect and exceeded every expectation. Breakfast in the morning is hot and delicious, especially the fresh-squeezed orange juice. Not having to go find a restaurant and pay for sub-par food was the best part...coming in at 6 in casual clothing by the fire place, and having the most wonderful food just brought to you. We just couldn't have asked for anything better!

We have chosen the Inn Above Onion Creek as our favorite place to relax and refuel when life becomes too hectic. The staff are very friendly, caring and professional. The rooms and views are simply outstanding, not to mention the luxury feather beds. The food for the generous dinner and breakfast meals was wonderful. We plan to return many times.

This Inn was FANTASTIC! The pictures and descriptions are right on the money. From the moment you turn into the entrance, you know you are in for something special. The driveway is a mile long, meant to free you from your cares as you wind up the hill to panaramoic views of the Hill Country. The service was friendly and top notch, and the food so unbelievably fresh it's like tasting things for the first time. We cannot wait to return, and as we discovered most of the other guests were repeat guests. Highly recommend this jewel hidden amongst the hills!

My wife and I just made our second visit to Inn Above Onion Creek. During the first visit the chef made a special dessert for my wife's birthday. We were so impressed with the property, service, and food that we decided to go back for our anniversary. Less than a week before our second visit a family member suffered a severe injury in a car accident. The owners at IAOC allowed us to change our reservations with no argument or additional fees. This is how everyone should be treated! We will continue to come back

Glorious on all counts!! Immaculate grounds and facilities. We stayed in the Kuykendall Suite and found it totally remarkable ... the website photos only touch the spaciousness, warmth and 'settle-in' appeal of the Kuykendall. We both have severe allergy issues and yet slept like babies here. Dinner and breakfast were consumate successes. A word of caution ... the 'eat anytime cookies' are irresistable and you may have to exercise restraint if you count calories. Take the 400-yard walk and your camera to the river overlook ... it is western centerpiece in quality. Pamela got a facial and will include one in all subsequent stays there (we pray to become regulars). Only thanks to God speaks the truth about this wonderfully gratifying experience. Thanks and cudos to the innkeepers, housekeepers and staff of chefs. Neil and Pamela

My husband and I stayed at the Inn for a night away from the big city. We've been guests at the Inn for over 7 years and everytime is just as great as the last (if not better)! I can't imagine a more appropriate property to relax and enjoy the Hill Country. We were sitting on the porch and were reminded what it was like to feel silence....... Just AMAZING! The dinner and breakfast were delicious!!!!

Local food prepared from scratch! Some ingredients from the on-site garden. With both breakfast and dinner included, we stayed on the grounds all day just relaxing: sitting in front of the fire, hiking, surveying the vegetable and flower gardens, napping, enjoying the variety of hot teas and homemade cookies, and reading on the porch while eating popcorn and taking in the view. Maybe next time we'll visit the olive ranch and get into Wimberly. We'll be back!

The Inn above Onion Creek is an outstanding place to stay and dine. The staff is terrific and the food is high quality, local, comfortable and prepared with great aplomb. We stayed in Maurice's Guest room which was a short walk from the main inn building. It was well appointed and immaculately maintained. The quite couldn't have been more soothing. The only negative was the number of cats that were periodically in the office. Sorry but I am not a "cat person" and those with cat allergies might want to bring some Benadryl . J

Incredible! My wife and I came for our first vacation away from the daughter. We were 100% pleased. We stayed in one of the 3rd floor rooms. Bed was comfy, room was cozy, and bathroom was clean and large. The entire staff was very friendly (from the inn keeper to the chef to the gardener). Great hiking trails. Quiet and secluded, yet close to Austin (and Salt Lick). Our absolute favorite thing about our stay was the included breakfast AND dinner. Every single meal was wonderful! And they accommodated my wife's gluten allergy. We will be coming back many times more. Gig'em!

We stayed at Inn Above Onion Creek for our honeymoon. This inn by far surpassed all of our expectations. I don't normally write reviews, but I had to share our experience with you! The food was fantastic and the entire staff was so nice and would literally bend over backwards to make sure you are pleased. If you would like a very private getaway where you can unwind and relax...you have to stay at Inn Above Onion Creek. I could go on and on about how special our honeymoon was here, but I won't. Just go and experience the magic of Inn Above Onion Creek for yourself!

Ideally located in the Texas Hill Country, the Inn's 88 acres offer a welcome respite from the day to day grind that many of us face on a day to day basis. I can't speak highly enough of the well appointed rooms, the views, the staff and the wonderful meals. We have found this Inn to be the ideal starting point for our daily excursions, none of which is much further than an hour away from the Inn. We will be back...

We passed by Inn Above Onion Creek some time ago and stopped and got a brochure and decided then that someday we would come back and stay for a weekend. My husband's birthday was 10-16 and I decided it was time to stay at IAOC. We had an enjoyable weekend. The rooms were clean, the trails were great, the food was delicious and the hospitality was warm. The other guests were enjoyable to talk to during dinner and breakfast. We will definitely recommend IAOC and will be back again!

My husband and I stayed here right after our wedding at the Duchman Family Winery. It was exactly the kind of placing I was needing to relax after all the wedding planning. We stayed in the Nance Suite which is on the third floor. The views of the hill country were amazing as the room lends itself to panoramic views. We enjoyed the coffee and the amazing breakfasts and dinners. The grounds are very nice to explore and are very pictoresque for picture taking. I am definitely recommending the Inn Above Onion Creek to everyone I know. Ann was very helpful and accomodating to us. Since we had missed the dinner on Oct 9th due to the wedding, she asked the chefs to fix us a nice lunch instead. We felt that this was a very nice gesture. We will definitely be visiting the Inn again in the future.

We had a great dinner and breakfast and were free to refreshments other times of the day/night. We enjoyed the early morning hike on the property, one of the cats joined us. There was car port style covered guest parking which is especially nice when it is so hot out this time of year. We stayed in the Hays room which had a great view from the balcony, and saw a couple of deer around dusk.

This Inn is as well-managed as any I've ever been to and I've been to quite a few over the years. The attention of the staff to guests, grounds and facilities is outstanding. Plenty of places to lounge about including the porches, library and beautiful pool with a setting that can't be beat. Several interesting sites near by including the one-of-a-kind Central Texas Bonsai Museum. The only place for improvement is the main dishes for dinner (soup, sides and desserts were excellent). Thank you for a very memorable stay - we will defintely be back!

This was our first stay at the Inn Above Onion Creek, but it will definitely not be our last. The inn is beautiful, the food is excellent and the staff could not have been more accommodating. It is in a great location in Texas Hill Country which is close to both Austin and San Antonio. The inn overlooks the scenic beauty of Hill Country from its hilltop location. We enjoyed walking through the gardens as well as hiking the numerous trails in the surrounding countryside. There are so many ways to relax on the numerous porches and balconies, garden gazebo and large well maintained pool. Our room, the Nance, had breathtaking views from every room, a large whirlpool bath and a king size feather bed. We can't wait until we can return for another visit. Thanks to Amy and all her staff for making our stay such a wonderful experience.

To my mind, the best accommodations almost melt away and allow you to experience the beauty of the surroundings without having to worry about meals, cleanliness, etc. I spent my evening at the Inn Above Onion Creek on the 2nd story porch watching the sun set over 20 square miles of hill country, reading and just enjoying the quiet and solitude. The service, the meals and the quality of the rooms were so excellent, and the staff and guests so friendly that I forgot I was staying in a bed and breakfast. I was really able to unplug and enjoy the experience and only after I returned to my regular routine did I appreciate just how much work goes into making an excellent experience. Amy Dolan and her staff at the Inn Above Onion Creek really work hard to ensure that guests can relax and enjoy themselves and it shows. I highly recommend the Inn to anyone looking to enjoy a restful, peaceful and social evening in the Texas Hill Country.

We only had the opportunity to stay one night, but what a night it was. The rooms are amazingly cozy and put you right at home, and the food was probably the best we've had at any stay away from home. We expected a continental breakfast but instead were served a delicious bananas foster croissant french toast. The view from your private balcony was absolutely tranquil, as were the walks we took along the trails they had to offer. You'd be surprised how much wildlife you would see on a half hour walk. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone of any age. Perfect for all parties.

This was our 25th wedding anniversary. Wanted something special. This exceeded our expectations. Can't wait to go back!

Went here for our anniversary. Everything about our stay was perfect. Couldn't have dreamed of anything better. Food is delicious, the grounds are beautiful and the people are so nice and friendly. Will definitely stay there again.

Loved staying at this inn. The Toalson King room was very comfortable and beyond our expectations. The dining room was very nice and the dinner and breakfact were outstanding. Loved bringing our own wine to dinner. Can't wait to stay at this inn again.

A lovely and relaxing place. Every room is unique and all are wonderful.

The mixture of location, amenities, and hospitality makes the Inn Above Onion Creek one of my favorite getaway destinations. Thelma's Cottage will spoil you rotten with its ultra comfy featherbeds and rain showerheads. If that wasn't enough, the best sweet potato pancakes are on the breakfast menu. Are you kidding me? We'll definitely be back!

Even though the Inn Above Onion Creek is just a few miles from my house, it feels like another world. I stayed in the Kyle Room and it was absolutely beautiful, with a giant bathroom and an exquisite feather bed. The views are breathtaking, and the food was delicious! The staff attended to all of our needs as well. It couldn't have been a more perfect weekend. Highly, highly recommended.

Even though I live in the Hill Country, the views and "feel" at the Inn are truly unique. The dining is top-notch and I never fail to be surprised and inspired by the cuisine. We've been coming here for 5 years now and the staff has always been extraordinarily knowledgeable and accommodating.

We wanted to stay somewhere nice for our wedding anniversary and a co-worker recommended the Inn Above Onion Creek. We were very impressed with the facilities, the scenery, and the accomodations. The food was delicious, there was a nice laid back atmosphere, and the scenery was breathtaking. The spa treatment was on point, too. We did a have a minor scare with a couple of scorpions, but other than that we had a great time. The rustic vibe was very therapeutic.

When I want to rest in a serene and luxurious atmosphere I head to Kyle, Texas where I find the very best Inn in the USA! I have been visiting for the past 9 years and I am never disappointed by my experience. I always leave relaxed, refreshed and reenergized. I am always so sad to leave and begin planning for my next trip on the drive back home! The beds are so comfortable and the rooms so beautifully decorated. The fresh flowers always add such a fresh touch to the room. There is always coffee, tea and yummy cookies to enjoy at all hours of the day or night but who has room after a scrumptious breakfast and delicious and filling dinner. There are many wonderful Texas sights to enjoy if you can pull yourself away from the serenity of the Inn. I think of the Inn as a little slice of heaven.

I don't have enough superlatives to properly express how much we loved this place. The rooms, the staff, especially the kitchen staff, the food, the views, the trails... it was all completely fantastic.

My husband and I stayed at the Inn Above Onion Creek only for one night, and upon check-in we were already planning our next stay and we intend for it to be for several nights! The Innkeeper welcomed us by name, gave us our key, and showed us around the dining room, kitchen, and library. She was so welcoming, we felt right at home from the beginning. There were so many "extras" included with our stay, we were truly blown away! Freshly baked cookies, hot and iced teas, coffee, sodas, fruit juices, chocolates on the nightstands, gourmet dinner and breakfast, books, dvds and games in the library to borrow... and I'm sure I'm forgetting more! The room was exquisite, comfy and clean. I can't say enough good things about it! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to return!!!

This facility was conveniently located near Kyle. It was situated in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. It is off the main roads where you don't have to deal with much traffic, and it is not too far from the Salt Lick in Driftwood. The hosts were very gracious, and the food was excellent. Great setting above Onion Creek, although the Hill Country in general is in dire need of rain.

My wife and I stayed for our 5th time at the Inn Above Onion Creek. There's a simple reason we keep returning to this Hill Country oasis. The bucolic setting is exceptional, the rooms comfortable, the staff helpful and friendly, and the dinner and breakfast that comes with each stay are way above par for B&Bs, which makes the pricey accommodations more reasonable. But you get what you pay for at this B&B, and more. In the summer, the swimming pool that looks out over the hills and oak-covered savanna is a blessed relief from the heat. We will be back, for sure. The Inn Above Onion Creek continues to rank among our Top 3 Texas B&Bs.

This place is simply amazing. We stayed 3 nights for our honeymoon in March 2011 and did not want to leave. Everything was great...the food, the rooms, the food, the people, the food and the spa. Oh!, and the food was amazing. We can't wait to return.

Exceeded our expectations! I treated my 2 nieces from California and they are still talking about it. We will be back!

My wife and I spent two nights at The Inn Above Onion Creek for our 3 year anniversary. This was the perfect getaway for our special occasion. We stayed in the Schlemmer room and we really enjoyed it because it was spacious and romantic. The free-standing tub and large shower were also incredible. The grounds were beautiful and the Texas countryside in the area was amazing. There are 3-4 wineries within 30 minutes to an hour from the inn. We also did the Wimberly ziplines. The food was also unforgettable! Breakfast and dinner were the perfect addition to the friendly atmosphere. If someone was visiting us from out of state and they asked where should they go to experience some Texas culture… I would definitely send them to The Inn Above Onion Creek and the surrounding area.

We had the most incredible time at Inn Above Onion Creek. It's a beautiful property, unique and special. Very relaxing - secluded but welcoming. All 4 of us gals on a vacation get-a-way want to return and experience it with our loved ones. The food was great, the rooms cozy, the pool inviting, the grounds picturesque. The view from the upper deck outside our room, looking over the expanse of tree-laiden acres, was absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed our massages at the spa, had a morning and evening stroll around the grounds, and couldn't get enough of the yummy homemade cookies, especially the Ranger cookies. It was our favorite stay in our weeklong vacation of various B&B's in the Hill Country and will long remain a cherished memory. Can't wait to return!

Relaxing atmosphere perfect for a weekend away. I enjoyed a fabulous girls weekend that included catching up on reading, sleeping and hours of fantastic conversation on porch rocking chairs surrounded by loving people, stunning scenery and some of the cutest four legged (and one three legged) friends I've ever met. The dining room set up is perfect and the food was delicious. I love that you get to bring your own wine. I would not call this place kid-friendly, and as a mom, I'm grateful for quiet places like this one to get away. Take the kids to Lost Pines in Bastrop, and bring your girlfriends and/or husbands here. I can't wait to share this gem with my family and friends!

We spent 3 nights at the Inn Above Onion Creek (in the Hays room) and it was absolutely wonderful. We had been looking forward to this trip so much and it did not disappoint. Although the weather was colder than average, we were really looking to just relax and spend some time together. The room was so comfortable and as clean as could be. The big bed with the pillow top mattress was heaven! So unbelievably comfortable! We enjoyed sitting by the fire, reading, soaking in the tub, and just relaxing. It is so quiet and peaceful there. The food was fantastic! Such attention to detail and presentation and truly delicious. The service was friendly and warm (Ryan especially was always smiling!) and the dining room was beautiful, comfortable and casual. Loved the constant availability of coffee, tea, cookies, sodas, snacks, etc. We really enjoyed meeting the other guests and sharing meals with them, we had some great conversations and will remember the other couples we got to know there :) We took a walk down to the overlook (accompanied by Nigel, one of the Inn cats). Overall I cannot say enough good things about the Inn Above Onion Creek. It's not a local trip for us but we hope to return again (hopefully many times) in the future. It will be the standard we will hold all B&B's we go to against. You will not regret your relaxing, restful stay at this inn!

My wife and I booked this for our 1 year anniversary. We were very disappointed. The food was mediocre. On the first morning, our breakfast was just cold pancakes, bacon, and eggs! That night for dinner, they served undercooked chicken and macaroni and cheese. For the premium price you end up paying for the accommodations, this just does not do. I would highly encourage others to keep looking and find a better inn. We met two other couples (both on their anniversaries) on our stay who reinforced our opinion of the stay.

We love staying in B&Bs and have stayed in many all over the country. The Inn Above Onion Creek is one of our new favorites. My husband and I stayed in Thelma's Cottage for a romantic getaway. The beds are extremely comfortable; everything was clean; the mini-fridge was stocked with sodas and water. The dinner was absolutely incredible! We couldn't have been happier with our stay. It was much needed time together before my husband deploys...again.

Food was fabulous, the people were wonderful, and it was VERY peaceful, yet just a short drive from Austin and outlet shopping. We loved it! We didn't know if we'd really get our dollar's worth because we were going in the middle of winter, but it was great!

My wife and I enjoyed our stay immensely! What a wonderful place to maintain, renew, or build new relationships. Take a walk, get a massage, soak in your own Jacuzzi Bath, cuddle in front of the fire place, or just plop into the overstuffed bed and watch a movie. The food was amazing and the service perfect! Thanx Amy and Maryann!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for our 3 year anniversary and found it exceeded our expectations! We booked the couples spa package and requested a late evening appointment to which they went above their duties to accomodate us. I am also a vegetarian and gluten free to which they made a special meal to adhere to my special diet. The room was beautiful with a very serene view into the hill country. This is by far my favorite place to stay!

My boyfriend and I stayed in Thelma's Cottage, which was absolutely beautiful. We arrived a bit late, as we were both coming from work on a Friday. The innkeepers actually went above and beyond to accomodate us by plating our dinner so we could eat in the calm of our cottage. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and so big I forgot I was sleeping next to someone. I also have to mention that the shower was pretty cool. I had never tried a rain shower before! Breakfast was lovely, and it was nice getting to chat with the other guests. I can't say enough about the gorgeous views. We went on a little stroll after breakfast, and it was so amazing I kept forgetting that I was in Texas! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

My fiance and I have stayed here with Amy 3 times in the last 2 yrs and it is ALWAYS wonderful! The rooms are always clean and comfortable, good shampoo and conditioner in the showers, big comfy beds, etc. Dinner and breakfast are included with the rates and the food is always SO yummy. It's like going to an expensive restaurant, only without the hoity toity-ness. ;) Amy is always very kind and gracious and we wish to return time and time again. This place is great! My fiance and I rarely have the chance to get away together, but we managed to escape here for the night. Our room was spotless and very large, with a roomy sitting area with a fireplace, plus a huge two-person tub. We weren't in the area to go out and explore--we just wanted to unwind together somewhere peaceful. We watched a movie, read in front of the fire, took a bath, and had a wonderful, romantic time. The homemade pot roast dinner with butternut squash soup and apple pie was absolutely delicious. The homemade cookies in the guest snack area were very tasty, and free! Overall, the Inn Above Onion Creek is so peaceful and relaxing--the perfect place to go if you just need to get away.

We have stayed at a lot of B&B's and this was by far the worst for what we have paid. The dinner was probably the worst thing I have ever tried to eat. The main course was (half) baked chicken. Not only was it poorly cooked (still pink) it had little or no flavor. The vegtable was a .... what is that stuff? It did not taste any better. The starch was macaroni and cheese. Also very tasteless and better yet served from a HEB tub for a $1.99. All the fellow diners picked at the dinner and left much of it uneaten. Then came desert (half baked) apple cobbler a la mode. The ice cream was good but I did not know you could under cook a cobbler so bad. It was aldente to say the least. We were graced by the B&B Mr. Cat that walked through the dinning area and across our table. It appeared he liked the food. The next morning Mr. Cat also graced the condiments table and took a few slurps of tea. How delightful to have a cat sharing your food and drink! We wanted to take a walk that evening before the sun went down but ...gracious we forgot our flack jackets. The surrounding view was wonderful but the sound of nearby hunters made us a little apprehensive without our helmets and flack jackets. So then we retired to watch TV on our 19" flatscreen. Yes it was quite a stay! If bad food, dining with cats, dodging bullets on your evening walk and sitting 3 feet away from the TV is your idea of romantic interlude.....God Bless You! Sorry to say it was not ours!
Dear Guests, I am so sorry that your stay with us did not meet your expectations and I will address your concerns with the staff and owners immediately. We want every guest to enjoy a wonderful dining experience that includes delicious meals and, most certainly, excludes a cat. Our guests’ safety is always a top priority and our neighbors always exercise extreme caution on our guests’ behalf, especially during this season. The sizes of our TV screens are mostly determined by the sizes of the armoires, but it may be time to consider placing larger screens on the walls. Thank you for caring enough about the Inn to let us know where we can improve. I hope that you will contact us and give us a second chance to become your favorite getaway. Sincerely, Amy Dolan, Innkeeper

A visit to the Inn Above Onion Creek is like going to stay at your grandparents' ranch. You feel "at home" from the minute you get out of your car. Everyone is glad to see you and even the Inn pets make you their own. Best of all you are glad to be there and really don't want to leave when your visit is over.

The winding country drive of The Inn Above Onion Creek establishes an anticipation of relaxing accomodations, refreshing views and rekindling feelings of warmth and charm. The visit provides all of these experiences in a meticulously groomed and welcoming atmosphere. Dining is beyond imagination and creates anticipation for the next mealtime gathering. Returning is the only thought on your mind as you enjoy each day of warm and stately hospitality.

When my wife brought me to this B & B for our wedding anniversary, I did not know what to expect. We had planned to go to Fleming's for dinner that night. When we got there and were given a tour by Amy (very kind and helpful) and I decided that we did not need to leave for dinner. We cancelled our reservations and had an amazing dinner with Roast Duck smothered in diced Cherry Salsa. MMMMM! I was not disappointed. Our stay was SOOOOO relaxing. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable. The bathroom was huge and the jet tub had a great view of the hill country. The puncuation on the end of the trip was a great breakfast and conversation with Amy. We are planning on coming back and making a tradition of the Inn above Onion Creek. What a great place to go and relax.

This was my wife and my third get-a-way trip to the Inn Above Onion Creek, and it was another great experience. We've stayed in three different rooms over the course of our visit, and each have been really nice. There are three things that really distinguish this B&B: 1) The food is excelent and includes a nice three course meal for dinner. It's great to not have to get back in the car to go find dinner. 2) The facilities are excelent. The rooms themselves are nice, and between the trails, garden, porches, and pool, there are plenty of nice areas to sit outside. It's also a mile off of the main road so you get peace and quiet without having to drive to the middle of no where. 3) The service is excelent.

Cordial welcome from Amy.

My husband surprised me with a three day getaway. I did not have any idea of where we were going until we drove down a sweet, windy, country road. The sign read Inn Above Onion Creek. As we drove down the road, a smile appeared on my face and I said outloud "Oh this so perfect and beautiful and look at their garden!" The inn keeper was so sweet and friendly and our room-Maurices Cottage was away from the main home and very cozy for us. The king size bed was so soft and comfortable. I just melted into it. The dinners, breakfasts, and snacks were beyond terrific. We were truly impressed at how yummy the food was. The last night we were there, we had the dining room to ourselves-so romantic and quaint. The property was just like something out of a painting and we will definitely return soon and we will tell all our friends and family about the Inn Above Onion Creek.

How often do you eagerly anticipate something and then have it still exceed your expectations? Every moment at Inn Above Onion Creek was wonderful ... except leaving! We can't wait to go back (and we are the sort that generally opt to spend the travel budget for something new). Room, views, flowers, walks, food, quiet, and casual conversations over meals were exceptional! We are intrigued with the layout ... seems the buildings are at the center of the 88 acres, providing a lovely backdrop of nature on all sides. Phil and Sally

We chose the Inn Above Onion Creek because it was the perfect place to get away from the stress of living & working in the city. From the time we turned on to the grounds, we knew we'd chosen wisely! The porches and trails were incredibly relaxing, and the stars at night were amazing! The food was top notch & the staff extremely friendly. We especially enjoyed the feline staff who wandered the grounds, lounging, chasing bugs, etc. The Inn is conveniently located within a short drive from a number of beautiful Texas Hill country vineyards. Fun to explore, and be able to return back to such a wonderfully relaxing Inn! I can't wait to go back! A Franks

We stayed at Maurices Cottage to celebrate our anniversary. We felt secluded but near enough to walkto breakfast and dinner each day. Great bed helped totally relax and slepp each night. The Mood of the Inn allows you to feel pampered but isolated. We enjoyed hiking the trails and cooling off in the pool each afternoon. The couples massage was heavenly. We brought wine to celebrate and share with new found friends, and each breakfast and dinner was truly a sumptuous feast. We will definately return. DJ from San Antonio

Maurice's Cottage gives "close to nature" experience. It's huge - with room to let one's spirit soar. The full-size 'frig meant we could take leftovers from the bountiful dinners and breakfasts. In this cottage, it's possible to invite friends for lunch or afternoon drinks on the back porch.

We had the opportunity to stay at the inn for Labor Day Weekend. My cousin was in desperate need of a getaway so I immediately went to research possibilities and was instantly drawn to this inn. Being able to go to the inn was trully a blessing from the beautiful landscapes to the rejuvenating spa treatments to the fresh air minus Houston humidity to the scrumptious meals (the cranberry cookies were out of this world) to the lovely room to the welcoming staff and amazing guest. Love the butterflies. The experience was definitely what the doctor called for in order to revitalize our minds, bodies, and spirits. We ended the "perfect" getaway with a trip to the Fredericksburg Winery (the one brother was so knowledgable and very funny; we fell in love with two wine selections which will order to be shipped once we run out) and the chocolate store next door (chocolate lovers heaven on earth). Overall it was a very positive memorable experience and we for sure look forward to another retreat to the inn. Thank you Inn Above Onion Creek

This is an excellent place and I would recommend it to anyone. Dining includes a great dinner, which is not something that I would have expected. Overall, this is a great place and it is in a good location—quiet, but not too far from activities. I can think of only a few negatives. First is the location of the particular room in which we stayed. Below the balcony were noisy air conditioning units. You could not hear the noise from within the room, but it made sitting outside unpleasant. Second, it was not clear from the web site that the room was three flights of stairs up (outside stairs). We are older, but in good shape, so it was not a problem for us. Others may find this a problem, particularly in the summer heat. Finally, at the bottom of the stairs were a couple of septic tanks, which if you happen to be down wind, smelt pretty bad. I had a septic tank at one time and never had any problem with odor. We plan to visit the inn again soon. It really is a great place, but we will avoid that room.
I am sorry to hear about the challenges that you experienced at the Inn. Thank you for letting us know where we can improve. The septic issue has been addressed by our friends at Sellman Septic Services of Buda and AC Specialists of Austin who have maintained our AC from day one are working on how we can make the units quieter. On our website, we will re-emphasize on which floor each room is located. I am so glad to know that your overall positive experience outweighs the not-so-positive ones and that we can look forward to seeing you at the Inn again soon.

As soon as we approached the inn, I knew it was exactly what I was looking for. We were so warmly welcomed in the office, I felt as though we were visiting friends. Dinner soon followed. That as well as all meals were superb. We didn't have time to sit down for breakfast the next morning due to an early flight. Ryan, one of the chefs prepared the best "to go" breakfast I've ever had, which included croissant french toast-amazing! The rooms were immaculately clean, beyond spacious, and as comfortable as home. The vase of fresh cut flowers, just one more special touch. Beautiful landscaping, spectacular vistas, serenity, friendly lovable pets, all added to this inn being one of my all time favorites. It is obvious that the owners go above and beyond to ensure their guests a truly special experience. My vacation prior to The Inn Above Onion Creek was somewhat disappointing. Though brief, my stay there was memorable. I felt soothed and renewed. Thank you so much. Lorene Bottoms Brooklyn, New York

We couldn't have asked for more and will definitely be returning. We stayed for 3 week nights in the Martin room. Our accommodations were amazing, with a porch on either side of our spacious room, making for perfect sunrise and sunset views. The private bathroom was lovely, and the daily breakfast and dinner could not have been better. We enjoyed the proximity to a number of small town hill country attractions and activities and had a very restful vacation.

My mother and mother in law got us a room here for our wedding night. The place is quiet and beautiful. They had dinner waiting for us in the room. We also slept in and missed breakfast hours but they had plates waiting for us when we called down. The food was amazing, the grounds are beautiful. We are going to be going back at least every year for our anniversary and hopefully for a few stays inbetween. Highly recommend staying here.

This is my 5th stay and my favorite place to go with friends or my husband. Amy and the staff always take care of all my wishes. The food is fabulous- I am small, but I always clean my plate. Thank goodness there are hiking trails and the pool to work it back off! Very comfortable and serene.

I LOVE this property! My husband and I live in Austin and need to get out of the city to recharge. The Inn Above Onion Creek is the perfect place to do this. I didn't realize that I was so stressed out until I was sitting in a rocking chair playing Yahtzee and remembered what it felt to be truly relaxed. I would recommend this retreat to anyone who just needs to get away from it all. Having dinner and breakfast takes the additional planning out of the equation. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy........

We had a wonderful stay. It was peaceful and relaxing. One of our best days there was one where we didn't even leave the grounds. We had breakfast and then sat out on the large porch, enjoyed tea and watched the scenery, butterflies and birds. Then we enjoyed a massage at the spa and then a dip in the pool and then it was dinner time. We also enjoyed the slow pace which allowed us to enjoy conversations with many of the other guests there. The food was outstanding! We try to take a vacation without our kids once a year and this was by far one of our best!

We spent five wonderful days at the Inn Above Onion Creek. Our room was absolutely beautiful and very comfortable. The food was spectacular... I had the best steak that I've ever eaten!! Our initial plan was to enjoy the meals that they provided and eat lunch out every day. However, we were never hungry for lunch because of the filling breakfasts and dinners! Everyone was helpful and friendly and made our stay exceptionally good. We enjoyed meeting people from all over Texas during the meals. Everyone looked so relaxed! We will come back!!

What a wonderful place to celebrate our anniversary away from the kids. The Inn Above Onion Cree is very peaceful and relaxing. My wife and I went to a nearby wineary and had a great time. The food at The Inn Above Onion Creek was excellent. The best thing is it is so convenient to Austin but you would never know it as it is in the Hill Country.

Inn Above Onion Creek has maintained its excellence over the years. Adding internet access was a real plus. It is always the place I would choose for a special weekend; anniversary, reunion, girlfriend getaway. The pets are as friendly as the owners and staff which always make it an excellent choice.

My husband and I were lucky enough to spend 3 glorious days and 2 nights at this most impressive B&B. The room was so comfortable and yet meticulously decorated. We had a little private porch that faced the open country of Kyle. The bathroom was enormous which every lady loves. The food at breakfast and dinner are so delicious and you can bearly move away from the table! Kudos to the chefs. We had time to wander the property this time. We went on a hike to see the creek in the woods and there was water flowing even with the heat of the day. Beautiful grounds with flowers, and shrubs and plants. The pool was so refreshing to lay on a float and let all your cares disappear! Amy is the best hostess and will get anything you need. COME here for total relaxation. Steve & Helen Hurley

It was an enjoyable experience but we were disappointed in the dinner & breakfast selectioins. Others expressed the same feeling but had been there before & said that it is normally much better & to give it another chance.
We are sorry to hear you did not enjoy the food. We take great pride in our food service and want it to be one of the highlights of your stay. We hope that you take the other guests suggestion and give us another try in the future. Please give us a call as we'd like to know more about how we could have made your stay more enjoyable.

Words cannot describe this wonderful place. Everything was well above my expectations. My wife and I enjoyed our 4th anniversary there and will look to come back soon. We also took advantage of the Inn’s SPA and loved it. This place has to be one of Texas’s best kept secrets. We will be back soon.

Maurice's Cottage at the Inn was spacious, gorgeous and well-outfitted. The scenery was beautiful. The trail around the acreage was peaceful and serene - we could not even hear the sound of traffic. But for my brother's wedding in TX, I would not have picked Kyle and the Inn off the map as a destination all the way from FL, but I am so glad we did. The food was excellent and I ate ALL of every generous portion. Also, it was a great venue for my visiting family to gather and visit while waiting for the wedding events in town. I look forward to coming back some day. Thank you for a great visit.

Great place to stay for a night or weekend. Even though the weather wasn't very good when we went, we loved it! Very relaxing and we were totally pampered with homemade cookies and coffee and tea to sip on. The room we stayed in was even better than I thought it would be! We hope to make this an anniversary tradition. We loved every minute of our stay and can't wait to get back!

The Inn Above Onion Creek was just lovely. The hill country is beautiful coming into spring and our stay in the "Hays" room provided us with a wonderful view. The individualized features of our room made it even more special from the antique door, to the whirlpool bath, and remote control fire! We look forward to coming back.

My boyfriend and I were celebrating our 4 year anniversary, my new job in Austin, and the fact that I had just moved in with him. We stayed in the Toalson Room, which was amazing! The fireplace was so romantic and the microwave came in handy for our popcorn when we watched movies. We went to the Mandola Winery and the Dry Comal Creek Winery and bought a couple of bottles. The Inn doesn't sell alcohol, but they have plenty of wine glasses available and ice buckets, as well as ice. They leave the kitchen open all night - we made some late night cookie runs - there are cookies, water and sodas at your disposal. The dinners were delicious and the breakfasts were amazing. I think my boyfriend and I will definitely be returning to the Inn Above Onion Creek. Amy and the kitchen staff were really nice and very accommodating.

I just discovered this gem of an inn last weekend. It is a perfect weekend get away spot. I live in Austin and it only took 45 minutes to get there, making it easy to work all day Friday and still feel like you are on vacation come sunset. There are several wineries within a short driving distance. I liked that you could bring you own wine to dinner at the Inn Above Onion Creek. The food was plentiful and amazing. Will be going back!

We checked in around 4:00 PM on Valentine weekend and were greeted by the nicest man who presented me with a bag of Valentine cookies which everyone who checked in received and they must have come from the kitchen because they were delicious. He showed us around the Inn then escorted us to our room and offered to help us with anything we needed. Later we were served a delicious three course meal, which is included in the price, and our own bottle of wine which along with breakfast makes the price very reasonable. The breakfast was also delicious and the warm fire in the fireplace and the communal dining made everything so cozy and fun. I would liked to have stayed longer so I could enjoy some of what their lovely spa had to offer. This is a wonderful Inn and we hope to be back!

Our experience at the IAOC was flawless in every way. Sometimes I felt like Amy and her staff were reading our minds, anticipating all our needs. The meals alone were worth the price, with a wide variety of food and nicely executed presentation. (I really want the recipe for the short ribs....they melted in my mouth!) While there, I had a miserable cold/allergy attack. I noticed that the staff restocked the juices in the frig and all the tissue boxes daily....a real godsend. We've already recommended the inn to several people outside of Texas because I noticed most of the guests were in-state. The Inn is too good NOT to share.

This B&B had all the elements required for a wonderful retreat to the Texas Hill County. Especially enjoyed the evening meals and of course the cats.

My husband and I stayed one night during a mini-tour of Texas and wish we could have stayed longer. We were extremely impressed with everything from the size of and view from the room, the comfortable bed, huge bathtub (also with view) and the log fire to the welcome given to us, despite arriving before official check-in time. Our walk round the extensive property was the more delightful for being accompanied by Nigel the cat. We consider it one of the best places we have ever stayed of this type and would love to return. In the meantime we highly recommmend it to anyone thinking of a visit to Austin.

This is a perfect place to arrive and forget about the rest fo the world for awhile. No need to rush to unpack and worry about where to have dinner; the Inn serves a delicious, high value dinner menu in addition to satisfying breakfast. The property is a reflection of the beautiful Hill Country of Texas and contains a number of walking trails that one can follow by the babbling creek or through shady trees. The rooms are perfectly suited for the rustic theme of the property and are very clean and comfortable. The staff is very courteous and helpful, including the friendly pets that greet and like to accompany guests for a sit on the porch or a walk through the property. If you are looking for a comfortbale place to relax for a long weekend, this is the place.

We've stayed in all the rooms and when asked which one is our favorite...we love them all ! Each has it's own magic. You will not find better sunrises/sunsets, peaceful walks, gourmet food ( dinner and breakfast!!) , pristine rooms, or relaxed luxury anywhere. ~ the Turners Georgetown, Texas

My wife and I decided to get away to relax for a couple of days at the Inn and were once again very pleased with our experience. The excellent rooms, customer-focused staff, quality dining experience and comfortable rooms made for an exceptional stay. Breakfast was fantastic and, despite the miserable weather, we really enjoyed our mini-vacation.
5 on February 03, 2010
My husband and I stayed for 2 nights in the Michaelis room to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. We had never been to Texas Hill Country before, nor had we ever stayed at a B&B, but we had an absolutely wonderful time! Even though the weather was less than ideal (mostly cold & rainy, at the end of January) it didn't ruin our trip at all. It just gave us an excuse to take advantage of the amazing fireplace, the heavenly king-sized feather bed, and the whirlpool tub where we took a long relaxing bubble bath. Although the price can seem a bit expensive at first, considering that a delicious breakfast, dinner and not to mention free cookies and sodas/drinks throughout the day are included, I believe you fully get your money's worth and then some. And I'm sure most people wouldn't want to admit it but if you're like me and the thought of sharing your meals with complete strangers can seem a little daunting at first don't worry- it will end up being one of the best and most memorable parts of your trip- at least it was for us. We met so many wonderful, generous people, most of whom had been coming to the Inn for many, many years, and they truly made our stay extra special. Believe the reviews- they're all raves for a reason. We can't wait to come back again in the Spring/Summer when we can take better advantage of the hiking trails and beautiful scenery, and maybe try a different room. Although we absolutely loved the Michaelis, each room is so different and has it's own character, we'd love to eventually try them all!

My husband and I stayed here the two nights after our wedding in January and the Inn was fabulous. We stayed in the Kuykendall Suite. The food was amazing, the room was clean, and the service was exceptional. They catered to our every need. Very romantic and secluded. We plan to return on our 1st anniversary. A+++

This was the perfect place to chase the midwinter blues for our girls' getaway. The cottages were cozy and comfortable with fireplaces, beds you sink into, and plenty of room for all of us to spread out. Great dinners, breakfasts and spa treatments. Hiking trails for the adventurous among us. The service is outstanding and the innkeepers go the extra mile to make your visit very enjoyable. A+++++

This was our first time to stay at an Inn and now we are spoiled. I don't even want to consider staying at a hotel anymore. This was the most restful and relaxing trip we have ever been on. The setting is so peaceful and the views are incredible. I couldn't stop looking out the window of our third floor room. The price seems high at first, but when you take into consideration the breakfast and dinner that is included you will probably come out even. The food is fantastic!! They have complimentary sodas, tea, water, and even cookies and brownies, that are available all day and night. The staff are all very friendly and even though there were several people staying there the same time we were, we were able to hike the trails and sit under the pergola in the garden all alone. The dining room is very comfortable and with the fire going it makes for a cozy setting to your 3 course gourmet dinner. We will definitely go back. Oh yeah, indulge yourself and get a spa treatment. My husband and I got side by side massages and it was wonderful. You can take books and movies (or use what they have in the library) and just stay at the Inn the whole time and relax, or go to the nearby towns and shop or check out the many winerey's. Highly recommend this Inn.

Our weekend stay at the Inn was excellent. We spend two nights and stayed in two different rooms. Both rooms were well decorated with high quality linens, a spa tub, and overall just very comfortable. The property is gorgeous with great walking trails and offers a very relaxing atmosphere. My husband and I both enjoyed the truly goumet breakfasts, dinners, and the snacks inbetween. We stayed at another B&B recently and it did not even compare to the Inn Above Onion Creek! We cannot wait to visit again!

We found the Inn Above Onion Creek to be one of the most relaxing and enjoyable stays we've ever had. Maurice's cottage was more than we hoped for - very roomy, beautifully decorated with a very comfortable bed with very high quality sheets, etc - our only dissapointment was that there was a fair amount of hair in the bathroom that was far to long to be mine or my husband's but otherwise it appeared to be clean. The service was excellent - the staff put our dinner on a tray for us when we called saying we would arrive after 6:00, the dinner start time. All meals were substantial and delicious and the massages we got at the spa were terrific. Our confirmation letter mentioned that a bouquet of fresh garden flowers would be waiting and unless it was the very small arrangement on the mantle, this didn't happen - a little dissapointing. The grounds were natural and lovely, and we took several long walks around the property which runs along Onion Creek. We were really pleased and strongly recommend staying here.

We visited the Inn for a relaxing get away from our B&B. Wow what a lovely rustic inn with such elegance. The food was wonderful, the spa package was just what we needed, the room made me feel like a queen and the rockers on the porch made me feel like home. Amy and the staff do an exceptional job this is a must stay in the beautiful Texas Hill Country.

Our group had one of the most enjoyable times ever at the Inn Above Onion Creek. Thank you to Amy, Chefs Adrian and Ryan, Bootsie the Cat (who left a present on the stairwell to one of our 'escapee's rooms), and the owners who had the vision to bring such a gift to us all. Can't wait to come back and bring one more couple who was on a waiting list and could not be accommodated this time... The delight also was to meet other guests including D squared who celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. The grounds were a sanctuary, truly needed. Thank you and we thank our friends for such a memorable time.

The one night stay was a perfect way to make a special romantic reunion that much more so. Our stay at the inn was incredibly relaxing. It is hard to describe... but it almost seemed like it was just "our" inn. I know there were other guests, but we felt we had the place all to ourselves. A very nice experience that we hope to enjoy again.

They handled every request without a moment's hesitation, and they did it in the most reliable and agreeable of ways. We felt very very supported. We can't wait to return and take it all in again, and remember what a lovely lovely weekend we spent at the Inn during this very special time.

We were received in a very efficient professional manner and everything went up from there. We had plenty of space for his bed and items, as well as, had peace, quiet and enjoyed a feeling that we were the only one's on the property. Meals were delicious; we enjoyed stimulating conversation with other guests and time to kick back and relax. In the morning, we took a fun hike on the trails, finding cattle, bunnies and deer. We definintely will look forward to another stay.

This Inn sits on 88 acres of land in the hill country in Texas and the trails to walk on and gardens to walk thru are magnificent. The dinner and breakfast is such a treat as you can bring your own wine from one of the wineries in the area for dinner. Their swimming pool is large and very refresing and a joy to jump in after a long day out in the sunshine. We will definitely stay here again. The Ritz's from Texas

The Inn is one of our favorite places to relax, bird watch, and enjoy good meals. We like the combination of casual atmosphere and high quality amenities. The staff is very helpful when you need help; everything seems to run smoothly and unobtrusively. There are several interesting wineries nearby.

This place exceeded our expections with the hospitable, low-key staff who made our two nights even more relaxing. You know when it is your husband that first says "we are going back here", that's a sure sign it is a great place. Had the best lamb chops I've ever tasted here!

wow, i was not disappointed at all. We stayed in the "porter" room, which is a great room complete with a HUGE whirlpool/spa/hot tub. The dinner was fantastic, if you are going to stay here, make sure you don't miss dinner. There are nice trails around the area and some beautiful native Texas flowers in the garden. Even the 2 cats the "patrol" the grounds were friendly and helpful.

If you need a getaway, this is your place. Hiking trails, spa, rocking chairs, quiet (real, country quiet), great food, good people. I left feeling so relaxed and didn't want to drive off!!

The tranquility, open space, views, and great staff makes The Inn Above Onion Creek a step above the rest. The food was excellent but the only suggestion I have is to replace the dining chairs with ones that are more comfortable. We loved the pool - perfect water temperature and being able to swim and look out over the hill country or swim at night under the stars was wonderful. So quiet you could hear the grass grow. Best place to be in seclusion, away from noise, traffic, crowds and just relax. Can't wait to go back!!

We've visited The Inn Above Onion Creek three times; we've stayed in a different room each time, and each time the experience is amazing. The location is perfect; so close to so many activities. As a Houstonian, it's nice that it's only a 3hr drive, and yet it's still far enough away that we can forget our day-to-day worries. And the gourmet meals don't hurt either! Each time we leave, I make new resolutions to come back and do the other things we missed (shop at the outlet mall, go antique-ing, zipline, horseback riding, visit the spa, etc.) I think it'll take quite a few visits to get everything done (which is perfectly fine by me)!

This inn is an excellent value and is definitely worth a return visit. The meals prepared by the chef were delicious and inventive. The amenities were plentiful and the hospitality quite generous. We were able to completely relax on this trip and leave our worries behind.

Our stay at The Inn Above Onion Creek was just wonderful. Our 2 story room with the bedroom and HUGE bath upstairs (Kuykendall Room) was the best. The dinner that night and breakfast the next morning was to die for. So very quiet and peaceful. Sitting on the second story porch was delightful. There was a cool breeze even though it was a hot day and loved the rocking chairs. Wonderful place to visit.

Overall our stay was restful and basically what I expected. We have stayed at inns before so I knew what to expect regarding the room, grounds, and service. All of that was as expected or even slightly better. The pool was wonderful and the spa was a definate plus. The location is also excellent for a hill country adventure. However it is not a place to eat if you don't eat meat. My husband loved the prime rib, BBQ chicken and ribs, and the breakfast selections. The vegetarian alternative for the BBQ Chicken and Ribs was only a tomato. You'd think since they had the BBQ going grill a portabello mushroom or a frozen veggie burger!!! I was so shocked at the mushy tomato that I was speechless. I "warned" them a week in advance it isn't like they couldn't have picked up some real alternatives. What's worse is they advertise themselves as being adaptable to your dinning needs!!! Which is why I picked it! So it's not a value for vegetarians as they can't even shell out the money for mushrooms. But if you are a meat eater you will enjoy the food. Except the desserts, I think they are afraid of sugar.
Kim, I'm very sorry that we did not meet your dietary restrictions very well. Portabello mushrooms are one of our main alternatives for vegetarians as are the stuffed tomatoes that we served you on the fourth of July. In hindsight, knowing that you were going to pick up your dinner on a tray we should have gone with the portabello. Holding the stuffed tomato for that extra hour didn't work out well and it's a mistake we will not make again. Hopefully the Ratatouille we served you the first night was to your liking and we're glad to hear your husband enjoyed the food. Sorry again and I hope we get another chance to make up for our poor selection of stuffed tomatoes.

The location and facilities were wonderful. It was just as cozy as we had hoped! The service was absolutley outstanding! I could not have hoped for anything more. My boyfriend is allergic to certain foods and the staff was so accomodating! Usually he's gets embarrased about the big fuss but the staff at the Inn Above Onion Creek was very kind and worked behind the scenes to make everything PERFECT!

My wife and I stayed here for one day in May '09, while visiting our son's nearby wedding venue. I expected a nice place, but I was surprised at the luxurious, yet rustic, surroundings. The views of the Hill Country are breathtaking. I enjoyed a pre-breakfast walk on the hiling trails, in the cool, Spring air. We were in the least expensive room, and were very pleased. The evening meal was gourmet quality, and we dined with a charming couple. Our hosts were friendly and helpful. We plan to return.

Well our daughter sent us to this unbelievable B&B. The ride into the property is so beautiful and filled with anticipation as to what the actual house looks like. We stayed in the suite that Emeril Lagasse stayed in. It was the most elegant suite we have ever stayed in. Very large living room and deck, upstairs a tastefully decorated king size bed and sitting area. The bathroom has a huge jacquizzi tub, double sinks, and a huge shower for 2. There is a great back porch area with willow wicker chairs to lounge in. The pool is immaculate and so refreshing. I have never been to a B&B that serves dinner.....it was so good and breakfast was incredible. I would highly recommend this B&B to everyone who is looking for TOTAL relaxation! We will be back

We stayed at the Inn Above Onion Creek for a night on a quick trip to the Austin area. It was the most amazing place! The room was beautiful and so incredibly comfortable! The food ROCKED and the service was just wonderful. The grounds are beautiful with flowers and a meticulous lawn and the porches were made for rocking at night looking out at the starlit night. All in all the most fabulous stay ever! We will go back and tell everyone we know... it is a gem!

This was our second trip to the Inn, and it certainly will not be our last. Quiet, friendly, peaceful, and relaxing...........what more could one ask for? Amy and the staff are fantastic. Chef Adrian Galindo's food was outstanding. The spa experience exceeded our expectations. The Inn Above Onion Creek is certainly a treasure that we would love to keep to ourselves, but must share with all of our friends.

Very nice relaxing stay for our first anniversary. The rooms are huge and the views can't be matched. Food was great, but felt 8:30 start to hot breakfast a bit late. Coffee left a lot to be desired (should contract with Lucky Cup, best Americano I've ever had!). Large jacuzzi tub was great, but took 30 mins to fill (Hayes Room). Also, Hayes Room needs another comfy chair in sitting area so two can sit. Loved roaming the trails on the grounds, very peaceful. Overall a nice stay but too expensive for what you get.

We enjoyed our quick getaway to the hill county at this Charming B&B. The location, although close to major attractions, was so quite and relaxing. We are already planning another trip in the Winter and this time we will take advantage of the SPA Amenities. The accomodations were excellent. The breakfasts and dinner were delicious. We also enjoyed Lee, the gold lab. and bootsie and nigel, the inn cats. They made sure we never got lost exploring the different hiking trails around the inn. We can't wait to go back.
Thank you for the wonderful review. We look forward to having you again as I'm sure Lee, Bootsie and Nigel do as well.

We celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary in such a relaxing spot. Through the years we have spent many visits to Inns throughout the Napa wine country and Mendocino area and The Inn Above Onion Creek is just as nice with incrediable value! We loved watching the lightening and listening to the thunder from the big porch upstairs. The staff was very kind and accomadating to all of our needs. They made us feel like we were at home! We will definetely be back someday soon. Fondly, Caryn and Gregg Rorabaugh

The pros-- a lovely room with a nice big bath and separate shower. The duck confit was delicious. Fabulous thick fluffy towels. Yummy chocolate chip cookies and sodas/juice/tea/coffee always available. Beautiful grounds and friendly cats. The cons-- numerous dead bugs in the light fixture over the shower; shower head pointed ONLY straight down and was very narrow in the range of its spray; breakfast was disappointing (biscuits like hockey pucks, sausage gravy obviously made by a Yankee, fresh-squeezed OJ ruined by addition of melting ice)
We're sorry you had some negative aspects during your stay. We would like to address the issues during your stay so next time we don't have any "cons". What room did you stay in and on what date? I'm guessing last weekend because I believe that's when we served duck. We would like to take a look at the shower head, sounds like we need to change it out. We'll let the chef know about the food issues and I apologize it didn't come out well. Sorry again, but thanks for pointing out the niceties as well. We would love it if you could email us at info at innaboveonioncreek.com It's very important to us that our guests stay exceed their expectations so we like to address areas that need improvement.

Each year when my mom visits we stay at a different B&B. This one was among our best experiences. Staying in the Schlemmer room was like being in a tree house... the view was great and it was just fun to be there. The room was very clean, comfortable and lovely. The staff were so pleasant and put a high value on customer service. The dinner and breakfast was very good and it was so nice to just be able to stay there and not have to figure out where to go for dinner.

We have been staying at the Inn since it opened 15 years ago. We have tried other places in the Hill country but we always come back to the Inn Above Onion Creek. The peacefullness of the place, the service and of course the outstanding food. The staff is always wonderfull especially Amy our Inn keeper. The Inn is located in an excellent area for touring the hill country. Once you go to the Inn for what ever reason, relaxing, romance, recharging your batteries you want be disappontied and you will return. R&T

Loved every moment at the Inn. My son and Grandsons live in the Hill Country area and came out for a visit while we were there. We spent part of the day hiking the trails. The meals were fabulous and the kitchen staff were so friendly and cooperative. We made sandwiches with our leftover prime rib for our departure day of travel. They let us take over the kitchen and it felt like being at home. The peace and quiet at the Inn and the beautiful gardens provided the best escape from the Minnesota winter. It was hard to leave this beautiful place and if a return visit is planned in the future, we will stay here again.

This was our fourth stay at Inn Above Onion Creek. We have stayed in the Nance Suite all other times, this time we stayed in the Kuykendall Suite......and I think we have a new favorite suite. We come back to the Inn for the peaceful surroundings, the beaty of the hill country, and the fellowship of the other guests. Dinners are almost always a highlight of our stay. The food is always terrific but I am referring more to the opportunity to meet others, share stories, discuss anything from religion, to politics, to sports or whatever is of interest. Dinner conversations sometimes continue outside on the porches as the sun sets. We'll be back next year!

We spent a special weekend at the inn, celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. We felt welcome from the moment of our arrival, and everyone was so friendly and accommodating. The grounds and the common rooms are lovely. The Nance Suite was extremely comfortable and relaxing, and the views from the large windows were incredible. The linens were of very high quality, and there were numerous added touches, such as the fresh flowers on the mantel, the gas fireplace, the selection of CD's and DVD's, the microwave and mini-fridge. The food was outstanding, and the chef was very accommodating as to vegetarian selections. Having access to a gourmet dinner on the premises added to the sense of relaxation -- no need to worry about reservations or driving to dinner each night. Lastly, the resident cats and the very friendly dog also add to the ambience! We plan to return soon.....

B&Bs are not all created equal, and The Inn Above Onion Creek excels in the best areas. Their genuine concern in making your stay as enjoyable as possible is admirable. We stayed in Thelma's Cottage which was almost perfect, almost because the spa is above, and napping was interrupted by pouncing sounds. A minor issue. Thelma's was a great value for two couples or a group of friends. It's the little things that set apart a great B&B. Extra pillows in the bedroom and living area, great linens and mattresses, stocked refrigerator with sodas and water, and convenient access to an ice machine and cookies made this a place to which we'll return.

We were ready for a quiet relaxing weekend to unwind and focus on each other. TIAOC turned out to be exactly the right place. The setting is very relaxed and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. The inn keeper even kindly washed my new pair of jeans to facilitate our night out on the town in nearby Austin. I guess that says that TIAOC offers the choice of kicking back and "vegging" for the weekend or just being home base for more active excursions. We'll surely go back for more.

Thanks to all that made it so wonderful!

Our stay was better than anything we could have asked for. Dinner was waiting for us when we arrived, we were given a tour of the property, and the room was so much more than we expected. At breakfast we finished our pitcher of freshly-squeezed orange juice, so the chef cheerfully brought us a new one. I also have a food allergy and they prepared my food especially for me without complaint/hesitation. My husband also loved the endless cookies! Our room was furnished with antiques, but everything was of 5-star cleanliness. We woke up to see the sunrise outside of our bedroom window - the views are amazing! We also took a short walk on the trail down to the creek. There was a breeze, so the whole time we smelled all sorts of fragrant flowers and trees. This is B&B is a must for a getaway with that special someone. The only bad thing was that we had to leave!

The Inn Above Onion Creek is a fantastic value for the money. The service and food were excellent. We stayed in Austin and ate at some "Fine Dining" establishments, but the food and service at the Inn were far better. We just stayed at the Inn Above Onion Creek last weekend and it was the most enjoyable, relaxing vacation we've ever had. The rooms are wonderful, the food is amazing, and the view is spectacular. Better though is the wonderful service and atmosphere. The chef saw to our special dietary needs without even asking, the staff knew us by name without even having to introduce ourselves, I've never felt so welcome and comfortable before. I can't recommend this place enough. If you're looking for a weekend get away so comfortable and inviting that you won't want to leave your room, this is the place.

We are always treated with respect and feel pampered when we visit. What beautiful sunsets, a wonderful, colorful garden and better than ever rooms. Also, the food is delectable. I would describe them as a gourmet feast. I tell others about Inn Above Onion Creek on a consistent basis. What an oasis of indulgence, relaxation, beauty, pampering and fun.

The Inn Above Onion Creek is a wonderful oasis located just outside of Austin, TX. My wife and I have stayed at B&B's around the western US, but we have to pick this inn as our favorite. Not only does this B&B provide a better-than-advertised quiet tranquility in and around the inn, but it also includes dinner as well as breakfast in their dining room. It makes such a huge difference not having to drive anywhere to dine. And what food! The meals were exceptionally well prepared and tasty. Who would have thought such great food, elegant and comfortable accommodations, and relaxing atmosphere could all be found in Kyle, TX? We can't say enough great things about the Inn Above Onion Creek and our stay there. Thanks to the Dolans for giving us a wonderfully renewing weekend at your inn.

We came here for a weekend getaway for Valentine's Day and we had a lovely time. It is a nice cute bed and breakfast with great service and great food. It is situated quite near a few of the wineries in the area so makes for nice day trips out. The only critique would be the spa was a bit of a disappointment. The loft was small and there was not really privacy for the treatments as those entering for appts after you are separated from by only a silk screen. Also they contract out therapists from outside and depending who you get - the service could be iffy. My husband and I both got deep tissue massages and frankly, it was not at all deep tissue. We would recommend the inn and the stay and definitely bring friends next time, but wish they spent more time bringing their spa up to the quality of the rest of the inn. A larger space or offers of private spa treatments in the rooms would be a help as well as better massage therapists!

We've been to many other lovely places- including Costa Rica- but this is by far our favorite. Over the years we have learned to show up and enjoy the Inn until it is time to go and- most importantly- not to stop for lunch. No side trips are necessary. There are trails for wondering, people to meet at meals, and most of all wonderful tubs. Bathing becomes an activity. We tried the spa this last time and are going to make day trips to enjoy it. Yes, I'd rather go here than any other place- even exotic ones. It is luxurious, warm and relaxed. The feeling of life there is similar to the Big Island on Hawaii. We leave feeling peaceful, rested and always wishing for a longer stay. The Nance suite is my favorite. If you're reading this review stop reading and book now. It will change your life!

A group of friends met for a getaway weekend to relax and walk and putter around Wimberley. The Inn Above Onion Creek was really perfect for that because of the top-notch meals included for breakfast and dinner AND the pleasant spa on site. We had plenty of opportunity to go walking around the lovely grounds as well--not really hiking, but not "shop-walking" as one would in Wimberley. We were also pleased with the proximity to the Mandola winery, as visiting there was quite a bit of fun for Texans with no Napa Valley. Finally, the staff at Onion Creek was first-rate and very friendly, from the chef/servers to the proprieter, Amy Dolan. When we had any special needs, they were met pleasantly and quickly.

My wife and I wanted to get away for some down time away from the hustle and bustle of life. We found it at the Inn Above Onion Creek. It was so much better than even a high end hotel because of the privacy and intimacy of our stay. There were no distractions and no interruptions to our time. We found every part of our stay to be a wonderful experience, from the room to the dining, which was masterfully prepared and followed up by the chef to make sure we were enjoying it. The inclusiveness of the place is probably what impressed me the most, having the freedom to indulge in the cookie jar to soft drinks and even popcorn for the room. We had a great time and will for sure go back as soon as we can. Jody and Monica

It was a joy to introduce some of our friends to this hill country experience. Your email newsletter cued us to an unanticipated, last minute getaway to one of our favorite inns. The accommodations are great, you and your staff, delightful, and the site with views are relaxing and invigorating simultaneously! Our friends were very pleased and I'm sure we have intrigued others with tales of our experience there, as well as the fun sightseeing in the Wimberly area with craftspersons, artisans, wineries and olive groves. We look forward to seeing you again. Diann G.

This is our favorite bed & breakfast. We have stayed here several times and keep coming back because of the quiet setting, the beautiful rooms and the terrific dinners. We haven't found another bed & breakfast nearby that offers such value.

This is our 5th or 6th year at the Inn. We come every January for a Staff Retreat. The rooms are beautiful, dinner and breakfast are always delicious. The staff is friendly and take wonderful care of our needs. We would highly recommend the Inn Above Onion Creek. Thanks everyone!

A problem with our reservation was compensated for with a stay in a more expensive room at the lower room rate. Excellent accomodations all around.

Our 3rd stay at the Inn was memorable but unfortunately for the wrong reason. The room (Nance Suite) was lovely & my wife & I were looking forward to our first winter stay at the Inn (even if it was 80 degrees on January 23rd!). We immediately noticed the nice upgrades like covered guest parking & "green" features throughout the Inn. Dinner was lovely (prime rib) & we were thoroughly enjoying the company of another couple & looking forward to relaxing throughout the weekend. Unfortunately my wife took severely ill late that night to the point that we had to visit the E.R. in San Marcos & obviously knew we would have to cut our stay short. When I explained our situation to the innkeeper the next morning her genuine concern for my wife's well being & her professionalism were both greatly appreciated. We were only billed for one night's stay (this was a weekend trip where 2-night stays are mandatory) & checkout details were handled with the maximum efficiency so we could back home as quickly as possible. Amy's chief concern was for my wife's well being & she wished her a speedy recovery & that we would visit them again soon. I assured her that we will indeed be back soon for a winter stay.

My husband and I scheduled our stay at the Inn as a late Christmas present to each other. Our plan was to sleep in, relax and do a whole lot of nothing. We were able to walk the paths and see the lovely sunset with the ever present tourguide-cat, Nigel. We watched movies in our super-soft-and-comfy bed at night, and snuggled in front of the cozy fire during the day. Our room was absolutely lovely and totally modern while maintaining an historic charm. We enjoyed gourmet dinners and wonderful breakfasts. On our last day we decided to splurge on massages for both of us. The masseurs at the Spa were professional, friendly, lovely women and we left there even more relaxed than we thought possible. We were already familiar with the surrounding Hill Country so we didn't do a lot of exploring, but there is so much to do within a very short drive that even adventurous travelers will have a great time - wineries, olive farms, antique shopping, food. There really is LOTS to do if you want. Personally, we were quite happy to sit still for a while, enjoy the scenery and indulge in a bit of paradise for a few days.

The Inn Above Onion Creek always provides what I need. We have stayed here in several different rooms and we have enjoyed them all. This last stay was so perfect. I needed time to prepare for something important and their location and surroundings are always so serene and inspiring. I look forward to our next stay and hope it can be for a couple of nights. This is truly one of the best B&B's in the country.

This was our first stay at the Inn Above Onion Creek for our wedding weekend and it exceeded all of our expectations. The rooms were spacious but had a cozy feel to them. The views were phenomenal and the staff was more than accomodating. The food, however, was unbelievable. The most impressive thing was meeting all of the repeat customers at dinner, some of whom were on their 12 stay or greater. We will definitely be coming back!

A secluded, lovely country estate. Our room had a large, modern bathroom and nice gas fireplace. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast and dinner are included, and the food is excellent. I plan to visit again.

The only reason that you didn't exceed my expectations is that I have stayed with you a number of times, and I know to expect a great stay.
5 on January 02, 2009
Great value and close to big cities but feels very secluded like you are in the middle of the beautiful hill country of Texas! These innkeepers have customer service down to a science which must be why most of the people we met were not first time visitors - we plan to go back ourselves.

When our parents suggested a destination Christmas celebration we quickly suggested the Inn Aboved Onion Creek. My husband always looks forward to his busines stays and now the entire family was going to have the pleasure of experiencing the Inn. Thelma's Cottage served as the perfect setting for us to gather and celebrate the holidays and our family. Mom and Dad made sure that our gift of spending time at the Inn also included a delightful spa treatment. The atmosphere of the Inn, Adrian's cooking, Amy and Don's graciousnous as innkeepers, and of course the feline welcome committee were all superb! We can positively say that our stay was better than any present Santa has ever brought. Thank you for the "BEST CHRISTMAS EVER"! Chuck and tia, Cappie and Joe Dan and Easton and Lila (our wonderful parents)

My wife and I just got back from our most recent stay at The Inn Above Onion Creek. The inn is situated among the rolling hills in Kyle, TX and is simply a beautifically rustic get away. Once a guest of the inn, you immediately feel like you have returned home, looking forward to breakfast and dinner each day along with the wonderful conversations you are sure to have with other guests at the inn. It is as if you are part of a club, a private and exclusive one that only few are able to enjoy. Stay for a night or two, and you will see what I mean. In talking with other guests, most were there based on word of mouth alone...and no, they were not disappointed. My recommendation is to stay, but not too often, as I would still like a chance to have a room available when I call for MY next stay.
5 on December 16, 2008
The Inn is sitauted in a perfect hilly country setting with great views, peacful solitude, and relaxing atmosphere. The room had a wonderful balance of both rustic and elegance. Perfect romantic getaway. Service was great and the meals were all 5 star cuisine. I hope to go back soon.

The Inn Above Onion Creek is in the perfect location on a beautiful (large) piece of land. The staff is personable and attentive, the food is absolutely delicious and I've never slept in a more comfortable bed in a more well-appointed room. You're missing out if you don't stay here.

Although our time at The Inn Above Onion Creek was brief (3 days / 2 nights), we were so delighted with everything the property has to offer. The staff was extremely curtious, and the lodging facility (i.e. Maurice's Cottage) was terrific. We will definately make this an annual getaway!

A great combination of rustic hill country charm and comfortable luxury. The Inn is set back from the road about a mile so all is quiet and peaceful. Delicious dinner and wonderful breakfast. I'm reluctant to spread the word about how great this place is becuase I want it all to myself. We've stayed here for years and plan to keep coming back.

We called on a Thursday and was lucky to find out they had a cancelation for Saturday. It is truly a place where all you have to bring are your clothes (and a good bottle of wine) and show up. The food is wonderful and everyone is friendly. They have great bathrobes, coffee, and scones! It was our first time to stay there but it won't be our last!

This place was much nicer than I had expected. The chef's were really great in accommodating my family's vegetarian diet. The rooms were clean and cozy. The only complain I would have is that the bathroom door wouldn't stay shut (Toalsen room). Also, since we had kids that had to stay in our living room pull-out couch, a TV in the master bedroom would have been great. Thanks again.
5 on November 15, 2008
Our stay at the Inn more than met our expectations. The Texas Hill country setting is picture perfect. We were greeted by a big buck and 2 very friendly cats upon our arrival. What a nice welcome! Our room was just lovely. With a wonderful fireplace and a very comfortable bed. Our room was very warm & inviting. We couldn't have asked for more. All our meals were delicious & made more enjoyable sharing with such nice guest. The walking trails through the fields were very well marked and we enjoyed our time walking during the day. The garden is inviting and fresh flowers were in our room each day as well as the dining room. An added touch were the cold drinks, coffee, fresh fruit and delicious cookies that were always available throughout the day. It was so relaxing to sit on the porch each afternoon, reading and taking in the beautiful surroundings. Our Innkeeper, chef and staff were all very warm and friendly. We look forward to a return visit. Dan & Roie Tuschak

My partner and I desperately needed a retreat/getaway. No place has ever delivered on that need so well as this inn. The rooms are comfy/upscale without being over-the-top. I wandered the rough and rugged grounds for hours without encountering a soul. The food is delicious without lapsing into "hip presentation". The ambience is "smart, well-read, well-traveled NoCal, New Mexico, Cape Cod" NOT "trendoid, hip and cool LA, South Beach, Meatpacking District". Thank heavens. Intelligent conversations at dinner and NO NOISE!!! We'll go back for sure.

We always come away so impressed by the comfort, exquisite meals, the grounds. It is always a welcome respite. And there is something magical about the Inn. This time - we were placed in Maurice's Guest House coincidentally next to a couple that we knew. We did something different and had dinner at the cabin.. it was lovely. Thank you.

Our group of friends were there to celebrate one of our member's 50th birthday. We had a wonderful time! Lots of peace and quiet and plenty of time to catch up on everyone's lives! And the chef and kitchen staff were wonderful in accomodating our food requests: one is Vegan, one is Vegetarian and the other two eat more "Atkins-like". The food was outstanding. Thelma's Cottage was the perfect place for us! Fun, filling, and Fifty!

Beautiful and very nice location and property. Despite being reassured several times that there was no problems accommodating a vegetarian diet, all we were served was the same dishes minus the meat/fish/chicken. Just being served the "sides" is not really "accommodating".

After dealing with helping a community clean-up after hurricane Ike, we needed a break. My wife and I went with a somewhat negative attitude; yet our experience when we arrived made us feel as if the troubles of life had been lifted off our shoulders. Our room was perfect - I would not have changed anything or wished for anything else. The food was incredible and the staff took care of us without being intrusive. They lifted us up when we were at our lowest. My wife and I are planning a return trip next fall. One moment that remains in my thoughts was when three fawns walked up near the porch one morning. What a precious gift. I highly recommend this Inn and will continue to include it on vacations.

We happened upon the website for this B&B and it was truly relaxing and very nice. The only downfall was the spa treatment I received which I did not think was worth $80 at all. Plus the spa therapist smacked her gum the whole time. Otherwise, the food was fantastic and so were the gardens and grounds around the B&B. ~Courtney Hedgpeth

We attended a wedding at the Inn Above Onion Creek with a group of our friends from all over the country. In fact for most of the stay our group inhabited all the rooms at the Inn. We were all astounded at how beautiful the Inn is - every suite is different. The grounds are impeccable, the pool area a delight and the personnel incredibly kind and accomodating. We were a pretty wacky bunch and the staff made sure that anything we needed was furnished. We will definitely be back!!

Every time we arrive you can feel life slowing down. What a great place to stay; to relax for a while before returning to reality and the hectic pace of life. If you want wide open spaces and a taste of another time this is the place for you. Speaking of “taste” the food is excellent, along with the genuine sincerity of the staff. We will be back again. ¿

My husband and I are married, with teenagers, so when we needed some down time to recharge our parent batteries, we headed to an unknown place called Onion Creek. Wow! It's unknown - no more. The Inn is a perfect getaway whether you have children or not and is a great place to spend quality time with your spouse. Texas friendly is spoken from checkin with our hostess, to the maid service and kitchen staff. We especially looked forward to meal times where not only were the meals exquisite, but the company of fellow Inn cliental was remarkable. The perfect end, to a perfect day could not be better than having a final cup of coffee while rocking the sun down on the Inn porch rocking chairs.
5 on October 13, 2008
From the moment we arrived until we regretfully had to leave, our stay was more than wonderful. The entire location is clean and refreshing with our every want and detail met. Beautiful rooms and grounds, very private and relaxing the perfect place to get away from the stress of the work week. Seeing the sunset off our balcony and enjoying the breathtaking Texas beauty was a wonderful start to our weekend. The food is amazing and not to be missed. Cookies and drinks are a great extra touch and are perfect for a midnight snack.

For anyone looking to get away for one night or many nights, we highly recommend the Inn Above Onion Creek. We were greeted with such warmth and enthusiasm, our room was very spacious, and the food was wonderful! The best part, and one of the most unique aspects of our stay, was having dinner included, which made for an absolutely no-stress visit. We look forward to returning to the Inn and have already recommended it to friends and family.

This was our second visit to the Inn and once again they hit a homerun! Amy and her crew make you feel so comfortable from the moment you arrive. The food is amazing and the chef is available to chat with during service. The best part is that he's willing to share a few secrets so you can try and recreate his magic at home. This is a property that doesn't miss a beat when it comes to the little details. My husband and I love this place and are looking forward to our next trip back!

Our stay at the Inn was wonderful! Whether we were relaxing on the porch (after shopping at the San Marcos outlets) or walking the grounds and enjoying the scenery, our stay was perfect from start to finish. The Guest directory in the room and the friendly staff were especially helpful in suggesting things to do in the area. Thank you and we'll be back!

Ray and I found the Inn on Onion Creek very charming and very relaxing. The Innkeeper "Amy" was very friendly and made sure every guest felt very comfortable at the Inn. The view was magnificient and so quiet. It is a great place to unwind from city life. I could live in the Hill Country and finding this B&B was a plus!!! We did have a quick stay - but would love to stay longer next time and relax more - When your window is short, you try to do too much. We did feel the dinner was average, but the breakfast was very good.

Our home lost power as a result of Hurricane Ike. After having stayed at the Inn Above Onion Creek on an employment-related retreat last fall, I decided to take my wife and sons back to the Inn. We felt totally pampered and taken-care of. The staff was both welcoming and warm. The surroundings were peaceful and beautiful. The meals (dinner and breakfast) were magnificent. The natural surroundings? Breathtaking. In short, any time my wife and I want or need an oasis from life, we will return to the warm, inviting and wonderful surroundings of the Inn Above Onion Creek.

I would recommend anyone to stay at the Inn on Onion Creek. If you want something within a close driving distance , but with great country views and outdoor peace, stay at the Inn Above Onion Creek. I found comfort here on a stormy Texas night. I had an amazing stay that included gourmet meals & relaxation. The breakfast was a classic Texan feast, while the dinner was delicious, topped off with a tasty Strawberry desert that I was able to take to my room. Staying in the room was beyond comfort with warm comforters and a living area perfect for watching a movie and relaxing. There are hiking trails available. The views are unmatched from the private suites. The bathroom was immaculate with a relaxing jetted tub. The staff was kind and provided exceptional service. They even provided a hot meal, despite my late arrival.

We escaped from Austin on a holiday weekend. Just a quick drive away, but it feels like a whole different world. I didn't think Austin was very busy or noisy until I got to the inn, where it is so peaceful. Everyone we met--staff and other guests--was very friendly. Dinner was delicious, and we enjoyed meeting other guests, many of whom had been coming to the inn for years. After dinner we checked out the new Mandola Winery (tasting room is open until 10 pm!), which is just five minutes down the road. We stayed in Thelma's Cottage, which has two large bedrooms and bathrooms, a fireplace, and lots of light; it would be perfect for couples or friends traveling together. Overall, a great experience. We can't wait to go back and will recommend it to our friends.

It's not only the great location that sets the Inn Above Onion Creek apart, it's also the food! While the accomodations are no doubt nice (our room had two fireplaces in suite with a whirlpool tub and oversized double-headed shower with endless views of the Texas hill country from our second floor covered patio - complete with rocking chairs), the location and the food steal the show. The property is located so close to Austin that many Austinites could get commute to this property quicker than they could commute home from work. And although it is so close, once you are at the property, you are surrounded by the beautiful Texas Hill Country and all it has to offer (including many hiking - and soon to be biking) trails on this 100 acre property. But I have to say, make sure you don't miss the meals! Not only is the chef, Adrian, just as friendly and thoughtful as the rest of the staff, but the meals he prepares are delicious. We had center-cut pork ribs with a cherry chutney for dinner that were huge and delicious. We also had brussel sprouts on the menu that I was sure to not like, but whatever he did to them made even brussel sprouts taste good. For breakfast we had fresh squeezed juice along with pastries and fruit, followed by eggs and corned hash. No, not the old-school disgusting corn-hash like mom used to make. This was really good with potatoes, yellow bell pepper and onion thrown in. I met two couples while I was there. One couple from Houston was on their 16th visit to the property, and another that we had dinner with (also from Houston) was on their 7th visit. I can see how people get hooked. Can't wait until my next visit.

I had a beautiful and relaxing night. The view was outstanding and the food to die for! As I took my bubble bath I could feel weeks of stress disappearing.

I never would have suspected that the hill country started right there in Kyle, so close to Austin. We live in N. Austin but wanted a quick hill country getaway. Even with Friday afternoon traffic, it only took us an hour to get there. And this place is really not like a B&B - it's more like a luxury hotel (but they don't charge you $4 for a water or soda! and dinner and breakfast are included and gourmet-quality). My husband and I came here to celebrate our 4th anniversary and we'll be back. We stayed in the Kuykendahl suite which I think is the nicest - we had a fireplace downstairs in the livingroom and one upstairs in the bedroom (we used them both!). What I love is that it has an old-timey feel, but the bathrooms are amazing and modern, and you never lack for anything. Very comfy, too!

It's amazing that you are only 20 miles from the city and can feel so far away from it all. The food was amazing and we really enjoyed having dinner with our new friends we met at the Inn. Roasted Pork Tenderloin and Roasted Duck! This is not your typical B&B. It was private and very relaxing! I can't wait to come home again to the Inn Above Onion Creek!

For the second summer, my 5 friends spent 2 nights at the inn. We love it so much we don't leave the property from checkin to checkout. With the delicious breakfast and superb dinner, we just snack at lunch and are content. The pool is a shady retreat with great views of the countryside, the rocking chairs on the porch are conducive to long visits and the beds are so comfy at night. The staff is the friendliest!

There was a spectacular view anywhere on the property, especially from the room! The food was to die for, prime rib for dinner and homemade pumpkin waffles for breakfast. The service was exceptional! I highly recommend The Inn Above Onion Creek

I have stayed at quite a few Bed and Breakfasts but nothing compares to The Inn Above Onion Creek. Located right outside of Austin is the property where when you enter the gate relax and unwind starts sinking in. I went on a Friday after a very long week of work and before dinner, which was AMAZING I already forgot about the work week. My room was more than just beautiful. It was spacious and roomy and the view from my window was breathtaking! Soon I was off to dinner, a dinner that was almost too beautiful to eat but I am glad I did because I was better than any restaurant I had ever eaten at. The staff made me feel like I was at a five star restaurant. There is a senic overlook trail that we walked on to work off a little of the amazing meal we had. It was so quiet and peaceful we stayed outside for hours. We ended up sitting by the pool and just chatting for another hour or so before returning to our beautiful room. I recommend this place to every person I talk to. It is the best hidden secret in Kyle.
