  • The entrance to the property is between the Redoubtable and the Flying Cloud on 8th Street. Each luxurious cottage offers unique furnishings and features including some with jacuzzi tubs and fireplaces.
    The Mont Blanc is our smallest cottage and features a French country motif. It has a large bay window which looks onto Bradford Ave. and French doors which look out onto the gardens.
    The Flying Cloud is our most luxurious cottage suite. It features a large kitchen/dining area, bathroom with two person Jacuzzi tub, and a grand king-size bed. This cottage has three decks to relax on while enjoying the gardens and local scenery. The Flying Cloud and Challenge suite share the same building and can be rented together for large families, or a girls night out.
    The Redoubtable cottage features a plush queen bed and bathroom with Jacuzzi tub. The cottage has a breakfast room and wraparound deck which overlook the courtyard and gardens. The large living room provides a great place to read a book or play a board game.
    The Cutty Sark cottage offers an open floor plan with great areas for reading. The bathroom features the original clawfoot soaking tub and travertine flooring. The cottage has a private outdoor deck for relaxing after a day of exploring old Kemah.
    The Elissa cottage is a perfect retreat for honeymooners and those looking for a quiet and luxurious time away. This cottage features many period antiques as well as a four poster queen bed. The bathroom is a quiet sanctuary with a two-person Jacuzzi tub and plenty of room to stretch out and relax. The cottage also features a separate living room and kitchen.
    The Challenge suite features two bedrooms - one with twin beds, the other with a full. The bathroom has both a clawfoot soaking tub and a walk-in shower. This suite adjoins the Flying Cloud and can be rented together for a group needing three bedrooms.
    Clipper House guests can visit our winery and enjoy an afternoon wine and cheese reception. The winery offers tours, wine tastings, wine-making classes, and live music. The winery backs up to the Clipper House and can be accessed via a path through the gardens and vineyard. The winery is closed on Mondays.
    The Clipper House features a beautiful courtyard with fountains, annual flower gardens, and a demonstration vineyard. The property also features two gazebos, perfect for weddings or family gatherings.
    This year we have planted three demonstration vineyards. We have six different varieties growing and will be having a fall harvest and crush weekend.

    Nestled in the heart of Kemah and close to all the Boardwalk attractions lies the Clipper House Inn & Vineyard. Situated on over an acre of manicured gardens and grape vineyards are six 1930’s cottages filled with antiques and treasures from the owner’s world travels. Each cottage is named after a famous clipper ship befitting the design of the cottage interior. Each cottage features plush queen or king beds with luxurious linens, pristine private bathrooms with Jacuzzi or clawfoot tubs, flat screen televisions with DVD, and cozy sitting areas many with fireplaces. The result is an exceedingly romantic and soothing environment — perfect for a renewing visit to the bay. While staying at the Clipper House visit our winery and enjoy a glass of wine, take a wine making class, or try our salumi bar.

    Our First Stay, But Not the Last

    Our parents and children surprised us with a weekend getaway to the Clipper House in Kemah, TX for our 25th wedding anniversary. We had never stayed at a B&B before. It was great! So relaxing! What a quaint, beautiful place to enjoy and reflect.

    Lovely Anniversary without the kids

    We stayed on November 5th 2009 for our 3rd anniversary. We had the Elissa cottage. This place is so incredibly quaint. Directly outside of the room were grapevines. Our room was nicely done and as I understand it, they had recently been remodeled due to hurricane Ike. We were greeted in our room with a bottle of wine with a special anniversary label on it, yummy cake and roses. The three things I liked best about this place was our wonderfully large tub with bath immenitites, being located next to a winery with free tastings and snacks (we took several bottles home with us) and Barbara. Barbara could not have been any nicer. She was helpful from my very first phone call to the minute we were leaving and I stubbed my toe and she gave me first aid. Barbara and her husband are incredibly nice people. My husband and I are planning on stying there again this summer for his birthday.

    Excellent innkeepers and a beautiful atmosphere

    My wife and I had a great time. We relaxed all afternoon helping ourselves to some wine from next door. The rooms were quaint and comfortable. They took it the extra mile in ways I did not expect. The atmosphere was wonderful and we were able to take a short walk down the street and cut loose at the Kemah Boardwalk. Charming place and we will be back.

    We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Kemah. It was our first experience at a b&b. the Clipper Inn and its host were great! We would lk to return someday. This was our 31st wedding anniversary.

    The Challenge Suite

    The Challenge Suite is a luxurious getaway with a full size bed in the Chart Room and two twin beds in Master Stateroom. The bathroom offers a round shower and antique clawfoot tub accented with crystal chandeliers and Italian travertine flooring. The Challenge Suite shares the same building as the Flying Cloud and can be rented together to accommodate six guests.

    The Cutty Sark

    The Elissa

    The Elissa Cottage offers guests a glimpse into a bygone era. Decorated in late 1800's furnishings, the canopy bed takes you back in time as you dream the night away. A late afternoon bath in the two person Jacuzzi tub will have you ready for a night on the town or a relaxing evening with a good book. The cottage features a large sitting room with fireplace, kitchen with breakfast table, and a four poster queen size bed.

    Reservation Policy

    • Check In: 3:00pm    Check Out: 11:00am

    • Minimum Stay: Weekends and holidays require a two night stay.

    • Deposit Amount Required: A 100% deposit is required for 2 or less nights, holidays, and special event weekends. A 50% deposit is required for stays greater than 2 nights. For corporate or group reservations please contact us.

    • Cancellations: If you find it necessary to cancel or change your reservation we will do our best to re-book the room. For cancellations greater than 14 days prior to your arrival date your deposit will be refunded less a $35 service charge. For cancellations within 14 days, you are responsible for the value of the reservation, less any value the inn is able to recoup. There will be no refund for rooms not re-booked. Reservations of 10 days or longer are considered a long-term reservation and have a one-month cancellation policy. Reducing the number of days in a stay is considered a cancellation and you will be subject to the same policy as stated above.

    The inn is very well decorated and well located. All of the details of the room, denote a spacial care with the things. I recommend entirely. the only negative point is that do not serve breakfast as the website suggests.

    We had a wonderful stay. The hostess was very pleasant, made us feel right at home. We had not expected the golf cart that was furnished, that was truly a great addition.
