Located within walking distance of shops and attractions, WISE MANOR is one of the oldest BED & BREAKFAST homes in HISTORIC JEFFERSON, TEXAS. Built in 1851 on the ferry road into pre-CIVIL WAR JEFFERSON, the home has been in the WISE family since 1908. JACOB & ERNESTINE STERNE, early Jefferson postmasters were distinguished residents. GENERAL BUELL was a guest during the RECONSTRUCION ERA. WISE MANOR was lovingly restored by KATHEREINE RAMSAY WISE, Jefferson's town HISTORIAN. Furnished in VICTORIAN era ANTIQUES and family HEIRLOOMS, WISE MANOR reminds us of a time when life was simpler and entertaining was gracious.
Spacious Victorian suite with QUEEN Mallard bed for two, and Victorian "youth" bed (TWIN-size mattress). Marble top dresser and bedside tables. Victorian doll house. Six windows receive north and south light. Converted kerosene "angle" lamps. In-suite coffee/tea service. Lots of great magazines. Walk-in shower. Hair Dryer. Cable TV with DVD library. Bedside chocolates. Perfect suite for a "ladies only" get-away, or for a couple with a friend. Bring your mom -- or your very well-behaved pre-teen who will adore Katherine's Room.
Furnished in antique pine and family heirlooms, this room with QUEEN bed faces the front of the property. Three windows. In-room coffee service. Extensive reading selection. Board games and cards. Emerson electric oscillating fan, c. 1937, supplements the AC and creates a soothing "white noise" for peaceful slumber. Private bath with hair dryer, toiletries. Cable TV. A popular choice.
Margaret's Room is imbued with family history. A rare cherry-wood bedroom set furnishes this romantic hide-away. Private entrance from the carport. Two big windows. DVD library. Magazine library. Great claw-foot tub with shower. Hair dryer. Toiletries. Popular with newly-weds and for anniversary celebrants. I like it, too.

Susan was an excellent hostess and the other guests were very friendly. I was a little worried about the area we had chosen until we drove into the historical district. The historical district part of Jefferson is beautiful. Very good for a couples getaway :) I will definitely be returning!

My husband and I were needing a quick getaway from the Dallas/Fort Worth area to spend more time with our 4-year-old daughter. This was the perfect spot for us! Katherine's Room was perfect for our little girl. We loved it.
