My husband and I stayed in the Romantic Haven Cottage on September 13 - 15 /celebrating our anniversary. We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed our little cottage and the cute courtyard right outside our door . We hope to stay there again next year. Belinda-the inn keeper is a very sweet and helpful lady.

The Austin Street Cottages are in a lovely setting within walking distance of downtown Jefferson. The setting was cozy and on a charming street. The ambience of the cottage was rustic and comfy. The challenge came when we readied ourselves to retire for the night. The king sized bed was comfortable and the room spacious. However, the air conditioner was in the wall directly above our bed. I had to stand on the bed to reach the controls. It was extremely noisy and kept us awake a good part of the night. Being in East Texas when the temperature is 97 degrees, the air had to stay on. It would be a definite improvement for the management to update this charming cottage with central air and add a digital thermostat. When using the bathroom sink one has to duck under the shelf placed above it so one's head could fit. The bathtub is a charming clawfoot tub but seniors beware as it was very hard climbing in and out and to maintain one's footing while showering. While the management does not provide breakfast, we walked into town with our coupons to a local restaurant they left for us. The breakfast was great and we met many of the town locals there and had a great time.
