My husband and I have been escaping to this establishment for almost 20-years. The facility and staff provide a peaceful, comfortable, and leisurely experience. Besides a wonderful breakfast, one is welcome to have an excellent meal in a quiet dining room overlooking stunning 300-year-old trees. Sitting on the shaded river bank watching nature is one of our favorite things to do while at the Inn. Thank you again for another exceptional visit.

We enjoyed our stay at the Inn on the River and can't wait to return! The grounds were beautiful, with plenty of places to sit and enjoy! The pool was beautiful, and I can't wait to try it out! The restaurant was totally fabulous...and the homemade cookies every afternoon were a lovely bonus to go with my iced tea. The rooms were like stepping back in time, but the feather down mattress toppers were most comfortable. Again, we can't wait to go back! Get a message while you're there...it was the best we've ever had!

What a beautiful B&B! Comfortable rooms, fabulous property along a clear river where you could easily lose yourself in the rhythm and sounds of Mother Nature - all in a delightful town. We'll be back.

I have stayed at this B&B several times. It is so nice to see everything is still functioning exceptionally well. This visit was a last minute reservation and I was pleased to hear that space was available. I also had dinner reservations for that evening, with a follow up call on our choices for our meal. I even made a special diet request since my husband cannot have dessert. Dinner was prepared beautifully, and was perfectly savory in flavor. We brought our own wine which the Inn chilled for us. Service for dinner and breakfast was paced nicely and had a high attention to detail. After dinner we strolled downtown Glen Rose and ended up sitting along the Paluxy River, behind the Inn, gazing at the stars enjoying the night air. We rested quite well in our room, which was comfortable and Quiet. Everyone there was concerned if we needed anything at anytime... I HIGHLY recommend the Inn on the River for a quick respite getaway.

Although an Inn rather than a B&B (a few more rooms), the amenities and atmosphere are far more than we expected. All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The dinner and service were outstanding. The surrounding garden and grounds offer plenty of quiet time to relax outdoors. We will be returning!
Thank you very much for your positive comments. We are so pleased that your enjoyed your stay at the Inn and look forward to having you back with us again soon.

Inn on the river was a beautiful setting for my brothers wedding weekend! The staff was magnificent and the scenery is breathtaking. Plus, you can walk straight downtown and enjoy a selection of shops!

I took the virtual tour of The Inn on the River, I knew we had to stay there. I knew we had to sit in those white chairs facing the river, shaded by the beautiful ancient oak trees. I called the Inn and spoke with Ms. Amy. She asked if this trip was for a special occassion such as an anniversary or honeymoon. I explained that this would probably be the last vacation I would take with my sweet husband. She was so wonderful and said that they'd make sure that we had a wonderful time. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. I cannot thank the Ms. Amy, Ms. Catherine, Ms. Katie, and Mr. Ernie enough. Our room was so soothing. The feather bed and pillows were a piece of heaven! The grounds were so beautiful and the trees did not disappoint. Each morning, we sat in the white chairs and watched the birds search for food in the river. The squirrels danced in the trees, and we were charmed by the flight of numerous hummingbirds. The food is beyond description. Breakfast each morning was served with a smile and kindness. We thought the food could not get any better after eating breakfast, but oh my goodness, you must make a reservation for dinner! Each course was better than the preceding one! As we dined by candlelight, we watched the squirrels and hummingbirds dance around the water feature. The Inn is very quiet and relaxed. The care you receive from the wonderful staff cannot be duplicated. You must stay at The Inn on the River!

We have gone to Inn on the River in Glen Rose, TX, multiple times, it is very quiet and relaxing. Great place for some down time. We will continue to visit as often as possible.

There are two types of vacations. One, as a family you try to cram in as many activities as possible and you return as stressed as you were before you left but you have some amazing snapshots. Two, you find your favorite quiet spot where no one can find you, and you (and perhaps your best buddy) do nothing but relax...the most strenuous thing you do is eat and maybe write...there's not much really worth taking a picture of, but you return to your "Life" refreshed and chemically balanced and ready to continue. Number two, of course, is what I consider a genuine vacation, and we haven't found a better place to go than Inn On The River in Glenrose. We've been going bi-annually for a decade, and continue to be pleased. What's the best part? The atmosphere, the comfort, the food....OMG!! The food is as good as anywhere in the world. These folks continue to outdo themselves. You're not going to want to leave the Inn, but if you feel you must, there's enough historic sites and fun things to see in the surrounding area, you'll have plenty to do. (Don't miss the walking trail at Heritage Park right up the road less than a mile.) Couples will probably prefer the King-sized bed. I personally like to ask for the room with the back porch that looks out over the garden in the back. Very soothing place to relax. We love it, and intend to keep going back. Consistent with it's own history, Inn On The River continues to be a place of healing.

We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary at the Inn. The Inn provided us with the R&R we so richly needed and deserved. Our stay was all we could have asked for.....

When stress is overwhelming, run away. We did, and found peace by the river. We also found the owners and their staff to be magnificent. They saw to it that we wanted for nothing throughout our stay. I cannot complement the chef enough, the food was gourmet quality. It was as good as any that we have found at B&B's, and leaps and bounds better than most. Friday and Saturday nights, they serve an evening meal, by reservation only. The care and keeping of the Inn and the grounds was outstanding. We lounged on one porch, and rocked on another to the soft sounds of nature. Oh, we found peace by the river...

My wife and I went to the Promise in Glenrose on 10/13/2012 and had heard good things about The Inn on the River so we decided to check it out and found everything to be Great. The coutyard beneath the huge pecan and old oak trees was so relaxing, we strolled on the banks of the river for a walk and really enjoyed ourselves. The food is great and so is the freindly staff. We would highly recommend a stay there.

We wanted a great, stress free place to have our wedding and Inn On the River made it just that. The staff, rooms and setting was five star, as well as the breakfast and dinner. We had the best Big Day and wouldn't change a thing. The Huntingtons

We stayed in a "King Room". It was roomy with a very nice bath. No TV but that was great. The grounds are beautiful and would have been even more beautiful if the Paluxy River had been flowing. Would like to go again when it is not so dry. The food and service was great. We had a delicious 4-course dinner and a gourmet breakfast. Homemade cookies are available in the foyer in the evening. It was quite and very restful and peaceful. I would definitely stay there again.

We loved the Inn on the River. This is where my husband proposed to me. It will always have a special place in our hearts. He reserved a room for each of us, and they were beautifully decorated and very comfortable. I loved the uniqueness of each room. The food was delicious....the first place I ever tried bread pudding. Even though this was a long time ago, we hope to come back and relive our experience there. It looks like it is even more beautiful now than when we were there, if that is possible. We would highly recommend this B&B for a romantic get-a-way.

We celebrated our 42nd wedding anniversary at the Inn The staff was so very friendly and helpful. The rooms were nicely decorated. We stayed in the " Honeymoon Suite" which I think was a little larger room than the other rooms. We were served a gourmet breakfast and a delicious three course evening meal on Saturday night. There was an extra charge for the dinner meal. Will definitely stay at the Inn again.

We stayed a the Inn the weekend before Mother's Day. We arived Friday afternoon and stayed until Sunday. We had a thoroughly good time. The room decor is like my grandparent's house. Everything was clean, clean, clean....again just like my grandparent's house!!! The Friday night gourmet meal was extra,....BUT WELL WORTH EVERY PENNY!!! If you don't participate in THAT meal, you're really missing out!!!! The sugar cookies were delicious and I bought the recipe book just to get that recipe! The staff were all exceptional and helpful!! The historical factor was a BIG plus for me. Glen Rose itself has a place in my heart.....my parents honeymooned in Glen Rose in 1953! If you love history, oustanding service, quiet atmosphere and out of this world food, this is your place!

The staff and owners were wonderful. The facility has been kept in excellent shape, plus the peace and tranquility that over comes you when sitting next to the river with trees and grass surronding your being is undiscribable. The meals were over the top with taste and presentation. This was our first visit but it will not be our last. If you need to recharge your batteries THIS IS THE PLACE !!!!!

My wife and I stayed here for our 3rd anniv. It was a nice place, the people were friendly and the food was good. The service and cleanliness were excellent. The town of Glen Rose was very historic and just what we wanted. Our only complaint is that the rooms are small (10x10). We had to turn sideways to walk beside the bed (we are skinny people) - this made me feel like we were not getting a fair deal for our money.
