I found this B&B just by searching on google for B&B in Galveston. My husband and I were going on a cruise to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary and were returning the day of our anniversary. So we figured we would spend the night at a B&B and relax and go out to dinner instead of driving 4 hours back. Since we were staying there the night we returned from the cruise, we got free parking. We went there before boarding and Dave gave us a map of where to go park and gave us directions as well. He was very nice and helpful. We met Maria when we returned to check in and I asked her if she knew of any good, non-seafood restaurants. She recommended The Original Mexican Café. It was very good, inexpensive, and great service. There's a little lounge area upstairs near the rooms with complementary water, soda, juice, coffee, tea, and snacks. Breakfast was great, she served fresh fruit as an appetizer, then entrée was quiche, asparagus, cranberry muffins, also choice of coffee and juice. Another bonus is it's located only a couple blocks from the pier and about 5-10 min from Pleasure Pier and the beach. My husband and I were very pleased with our stay and would recommend this place to anyone.

Maria and Dave are excellent hosts. They were both knowledgable about the area and the history of the house and island. They made each guest feel well cared for without smothering them. The breakfast was family style and the hosts did a great job of introducing everyone and making us all feel at home amounts strangers. We also enjoyed being a short walk (5 blocks) from the beach. We would defiantly recommend staying with them if you're looking for a place a little away from hubbub of the main boulevard with a home-like feel.

The hosts were very friendly and the breakfast was served family style allowing us to get to know some of the other guests and was delicious. The room was well decorated, but the bed was very uncomfortable and squeaked with every turn and the water pressure varied and the hot water took a long time to come. The B&B was located between downtown and the seawall, which was just 5 blocks away.
Thank you for your review and for your feedback regarding the bed. We are very sorry that the bed was not comfortable to you. We are not sure which room you stayed but we will check all our beds and make the necessary adjustments. Regarding the water, we use a tankless water heater so that there is always hot water on demand. With this system for the hot water to reach the second and third floor you do have to let the water run for a couple minutes to get hot water. We are sorry you experienced this problem. We wished we would have known at the time so that we could explained it to you at the time. We always want to offer our guests a comfortable and relaxing stay at our house. We apologize if we were not able to meet this expectations 100%.

While my husband and I felt the price was a little much for a room with very thin walls and no TV, we also greatly appreciated and were grateful for the amazing customer service. I can't say enough good about all of the little things that they did for us to make sure we were taken care of. I HIGHLY recommend this B&B.

This was our first time at a B&B. From the minute we walked in it felt like staying at grandmas. Dave and Maria were excellent host. Made you feel right at home. Maria is a great cook and provided a nice variety. We would highly recommend the Lost Bayou!! Can't wait for a return visit.
