AB Butler's Dogtrot at Triple Creek

  • Inn Details

Ab Butler's Dogtrot is a two-story log cabin built in 1800 on the Cumberland River in Kentucky. Used during the Civil War as a hospital, and occupied until the mid 1990's, the house was brought to Texas and re-built. Located 4 miles from Main Street, Fredericksburg, Ab Butler's Dogtrot stands in a rural setting amidst oak trees inhabited by deer, squirrels, and birds. Marschall Creek meanders to the left of the house and gives visitors an opportunity to explore a hill country creek. Inside the cabin are two distinct suites, each with a living room, wood burning fireplace, upstairs bedroom with king size bed, and private bath with a Jacuzzi. Central heat and air conditioning, a full breakfast, primitive antiques and decorator fabrics offer guests the opportunity to be pampered in a romantic setting. Featured in two national magazines, Ab Butler's Dogtrot provides a hospitable environment in which guests may explore a historic property, be nourished by the simplicity of country life, and have an opportunity to restore body, mind, and spirit.

We spent one night at the cabin after a day of driving, shopping and sightseeing. The cabin is well away from activity. It was very quiet and relaxing. It was nice to be removed for awhile from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the world.

My husband and I stayed here for our 3rd Anniversary. When we arrived, there was an appitizer and wine to welcome us. Breakfast for the next morning was in a mini refrigerator with heating instructions for the small oven. I liked this because other B&B's we have stayed require you to be up and dressed and eating breakfast at a set time. This way, we had our privacy and were able to eat at our leisure. The breakfast was great! It is a nice property with plenty of space for a nice riverside walk and solitude. It was nice to see the deer roaming the property on our walks, also.

I would to bring my 4wheeler to use in trailers if possible. There will be no property damage. It will be just my wife and i.I would like if this would be allowed? I completely understand if it is not.
