The Texas White House

We were overwhelmed with the warm hospitality of our host. This was our first time visiting Fort Worth & she couldn't have been more helpful with suggestions & directions to make our stay enjoyable. Our room, the Land of Contrast suite, was very comfortable, clean & beautifully decorated. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious & we were offered several menu choices. We highly recommend this B & B to everyone! Canadian travelers.m

We wanted to get away for our anniversary, but we didn't want to miss a particular showing at one of the local museums. We compromised, handed the house keys to our teenagers, and moved in to the Lonhorn suite at the Texas White House for the weekend. What a great decision! We had a wonderful, relaxing weekend and got to see the museum to boot!

My mom and I spent 3 nights at the Texas White House as part of our Mother's Day weekend get-away recently and we absolutely loved it! Both Grover and Jamie were gracious and attentive throughout our visit. The accommodations were lovely and the breakfasts were especially delicious. This B & B is a cut-above the rest...great location and extremely convenient to other Ft. worth attractions.

Stayed at The Texas White House for two nights. The Mustang Suite was great. It is separated from the main house so if you want privacy it is perfect. Breakfast was delicious. The home made muffins are heavenly! Jamie and Grover are wonderful hosts. They are both very helpful with suggestions on things to do in the Forth Worth area. Jaimie and Grover are so sweet and accomodating to your needs. They make you feel very comfortable. Kelly and Judy Martin

What a wonderful surprise that awaited my husband and I when we arrived at this beautiful place. This was a Christmas gift from my son and daughter! It was so nice. Very relaxing and more than we expected. We were greeted by Grover--this kind man(the owner) who took so much pride in his home and you could tell by his voice what he was about to offer us was special to him--he was so sweet. The room was very well maintained with little hints of "love from mom" touches everywhere--but modern conveniences I had never seen within a room--a dry sauna for instance in the room! Wow! Beautiful linens on the bed and touches of "mustangs" throughout the room--it was the Mustang Suite-- so of course--but very tastefully done. They offered music in the rooms and movies...This place is well worth seeing and experiencing! If youre looking for a place to put your feet up and just "chill" quietly together as a couple and enjoy time together tucked away in a seperate suite all your own this is the place and I would highly recommend you give it a try. Due to weather changes we werent able to stay for breakfast in the dining room the next day but we did take it home and enjoy it the next day and it just completed a very warm and 'yummy" experience. My husband and I plan to go again--we drove away and said almost at the same time we have got to go again--and sit out on the terrace and enjoy the peace and quiet of what feels like "home"!!!

The innkeepers were gracious and our room and common areas were comfortably furnished, with beautiful antiques, and well maintained. The room lighting fit decoratively, but we would have preferred an option to have brighter lighting at times. The food was very good and presented attractively; and they were willing to make adjustments for dietary needs. We will return when we need lodging in the area.

Grover was a most gracious host! The room was beautiful and clean and inviting! The grounds were beautiful too! The breakfast (and early coffee) served was delicious and delivered to our room, what a special touch! I will be a return guest!

We were absolutely delighted with our stay in the Mustang room. We could not have asked for more friendly hosts. They made us feel so welcome and special for our 46th anniversary. The breakfast was definetely FIVE STAR. The beautiful native Texas gardens were fun to visit before breakfast. The sauna and jacusie for two was a special treat as well. We had a wonderful stay with Grover & Jamie at the Texas White House. Beautiful 100 year old B & B was filled with antiques, charm and warm hospitality. TWH was exceptionally convenient to Museums and Fort Worth's outstanding downtown area. We'll definitely go back. Jim Ellington

Perhaps two miles from both downtown Sundance Square and the museums, this B&B has an ideal location. What really impressed us was the investment you can plainly see has been put into this facility. Our room had a built-in dry heat sauna and also a whirlpool tub for two. We have never had it so good! Jamie and Grover are real polished pros at the business. You will feel welcomed and relaxed.

My husband found The Texas White House on line based on the location immediatley across the street from Baylor All Saints Hospital. I flew into DFW from Chicago late on a Friday night to see a dear friend who was just diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer. Grover & Jamie were wonderful throughout my 4 day stay. I was delighted with the style of decorating, the comfort of my room, wonderful books to browse & the most excellent breakfast. They stayed up late for my arrival & madethe arrangements for the limo to & from the airport as well as checked me in for my return flight & printed my boarding pass. Who could ask for better service? I would recommend this B&B for a relaxing stay for any reason. However, if one ever needs a palce to stay in Ft Worth when a friend is in need, give Grover & Jamie a call, they can help.

Five years ago when we started driving up to Fort Worth for the world-class art museums, we decided to go the B&B route. The Texas White House was the closest to the museum district, so for starters I picked it. One stay was enough to convince us that we would never want to stay anywhere else. Over the five years, we’ve stayed there at least a dozen times, including during Hurricane Rita, when we set up home with Grover and Jamie for four days. They definitely understand the art of B&Bs. They are the kind of hosts that are warm and welcoming, and while they make you feel comfortable, they also give you plenty of space and privacy. The rooms are spacious, cozy and well-decorated, and the breakfasts are beyond outstanding. One of the things we especially value is coffee in our room an hour before breakfast. That allows us to read our books, write in our journals, and enjoy the quiet beginning to a day filled with art.

I recently stayed 2 nights while on business in Ft. Worth. I was expecting a typical B&B, but what I received truly exceeded my expectations. The breakfast was amazing and unique. Fresh, tasty and a wonderful start to my day. I was so impressed with the thoughtfulness that went into every detail. I was delighted by my room with a private bathroom and cast iron tube. It was cozy and welcoming. The free bottled water was essential to my morning exercise routine and I found the sodas and snacks handy to take to the office. I would highly recommend this B&B and plan to return on my next business trip. It was a wonderful haven for the State business traveler and better than any 5-star hotel.

It was a fabulous stay at a "Texas" bed & breakfast in the heart of Ft. Worth's hospital/business district. Jamie and Grover were very gracious innkeepers and superb cooks. We recommend this to the President of the United States.

Grover and Jamie were two of the most welcoming people I have ever met. I have stayed at a few other B&B's but never had such a relaxing and fun time. It was like staying with your very best friends. I am trying hard to drag my husband away from our farm and down there this September. He would not believe how "at home" it feels to stay with them. True gems of the B&B world. We were given the Texas White House gift certificate as a Christmas Gift from our staff. Wow! They chose a great stay. We went for our anniversary and ordered the Anniversary Package with roses, champane, and a great cake that tasted wonderful! We had a wonderful stay here. It is quiet, beautifully landscaped and appointed. The recommendations for dinner are also very good! It is on a busy street but it was not distracting.

My husband and I visited on April 4, 2009 to celebrate our anniversary. We booked the Lone Star Suite and the living area was very spacious! Breakfast was wonderful. Would highy recommend!

I am new to bed and breakfast stays but have found that they are a wonderful option for the business traveler. The TX White House is especially perfect for its GREAT location/proximity to downtown Ft. Worth, it is only 5-10 minutes from the Convention Center and it is simple to get to from Love airport. Grover provided hassle free directions from Love airport to the inn and offered a number of routes to and from downtown. I also appreciate that he looked out for me in regards to parking downtown for my convention. The room was outstanding and super clean, it was a "suite deal" for the state rate! :) The white house is located in a quiet area of town it seems,and is close to a number of smaller, non-chain eateries. The patios at the inn are nice for relaxing after a day's worth of business. The breakfast is a great start for the day, great presentation and great taste! I highly recommend staying at the White House if you are looking for a place to relax after business in downtown Ft. Worth.

Our stay was definitely one to remember. We had an incredible time in Fort Worth. The room was beautiful and accomadating and we absolutely loved breakfast! We never had to eat until a late supper since it was so filling. Thank you so much my boyfriend had a fabulous time for his first B&B experience. He is still talking about it.....

Jamie and Grover were exceptional hosts. The authentic touches and historic aspects of this B&B were abundant. Highly recommend.

This was my first stay at a bed and breakfast and it was wonderful. The house was SUPER-CLEAN, cozy, nicely decorated, old and creaky (in a good way, it was very well-maintained.) The proprietors were friendly and helpful, but also restrained. I saw them mostly at breakfast and we just came and went for the rest of the day. The breakfast was delicious and well presented and even the snack basket had a good variety. The house is old and so were the room locks, it had a skeleton key I had to jiggle, but also a modern deadbolt. The walls were a little thin, there was a covered door connecting the Tejas to the Contrast room, but no one was too loud (unless it was us:) It is on a slightly busy road near downtown Fort Worth. It's not a good view but it is easy to get to the museums, the zoo and the botanic gardens (that's only what I did, it's probably convenient for a lot more.) There are a lot of restaurants within driving distance and some within walking distance. I thought this was a great place to stay with the positives far outweighing the few negatives.

We received all the help we needed. Breakfast was superb!

We have stayed at TX White House at least a dozen times over the last 5 years or so. We come here to work, play, go to the opera, and -most often- to recuperate. It is always a superb experience and a great bargain!

Go to Fort Worth just to stay in this B & B. Great location to all of Fort Worth. Grounds are beautiful, the McMains are delightful - always ready to assist in any way. The breakfast is truly wonderful, creative and filling. We had a teriffic time and so will you!

We were in the area to visit my aunt who had heart surgery. Over that weekend, my mother had an emergency in the night and was rushed to the hospital and my aunt coded. We were unable to have the breakfast we had anticipated, but the Innkeepers were so very gracious in their understanding and hospitality to our situation. We loved the sauna in the Mustang Suite, the jacuzzi was relaxing, and the bed was deliciously comfortable after being up all night. The privacy was absolute. Only addition I would recommend is a small space heater in the bathroom.

I wanted a nice place to stay in Fort Worth between a conference trip in Dallas and a visit with distant-family to the east. My plan was to see Fort Worth museums between and I needed a central location. The White House turned out to be perfect--it's a close drive to The Modern & Kimball and was completely comfortable. The price was much better than quality downtown Fort Worth hotels and I enjoyed a delicious breakfast included in the price. It is close to the main road, but ear plugs meant I slept fine. I tend to like a cooler room, but was not uncomfortable. (I was there in early November when the daytime temps were in the 70s.) I would stay again, and recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy that part of Texas (excellent museums). Close proximity to hospitals would suggest a good place for family visiting patients. It is not accessible, though. So being able to use stairs and bathtubs is important.

This bed and breakfast affords visitors with personal service and a great walk through Texas History. The house is filled with information about Texas and the atmosphere is relaxing. The only detractor was the busy city street, which is unavoidable in this densely populated area.

I've stayed at many B & Bs, and this is the best. Hospitality just right, rooms immaculate and comfortable, special soaps, breakfast perfect. Added bonus, I learned they belong to a Christian group of inns. Repeat customer here. PH, Austin, TX
